Zaal in Runnymede

Ordered a delivery on 26th online with time required.Arrived early and driver advised he was pressed to deliver even earlier ! This makes a nonsense of the ordering system. Food was mediocre at best with the 2 chicken dishes overcooked underspiced and over wet.Veg side dish again overcooked and over wet. I have used a large number of Restaurants in the locality-New Haw,Ottershaw,Byfleet with comparable pricing and free delivery but today has been the least satisfying experience in well over 10 years-very disappointed ! In future I will continue to use the Restaurants where I know the staff and enjoy food of a consistently high standard.

We go every week if possible, if we can’t make it we have takeaways. We have brought family and friends, several of our neighbours are also regulars,. The chefs are fantastic, always delicious excellent food, Ash and Bobbi and all the staff are lovely, we always have a great night, thoroughly recommend

Love this place. Food is very high quality. The breads, especially, taste exceptionally fresh. The sag bhaji, one of our staples anywhere we go, is one of the best. This time we had a chicken passanda, chicken ke baher and chicken tikka rezalla. All great. Wines are also good and reasonably priced. The restaurant is modern and had a good atmosphere on the Saturday evening when we visited. Pace of service was perfect and the staff are friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend.

We have ordered consecutive Saturday evenings a take away from the ZAAL, for family of 4 adults. All had different dishes and all were absolutely amazing. Food was hot, they made me an extra specific dish of sag spinach as a side as well. The chicken was tender and the naan bread was soft and fluffy. Would highly recommend.

I usually buy takeaway from the Raj but decided for a change to order from Zaal. Very disappointing. Tasteless and bland. A prawn dish costing £12 had four prawns! Poor!

We ate here with a member of my partner's family who is a 'regular'. We had not been to Zaal for some years and remembered it as being good - it looked like the same manager/owner as before. Our meals were nicely prepared, served with style (not too much fuss) and very enjoyable.

It’s taken ages to find a good Indian Restaurant but this is it. Amazing quality food. Had King Prawn Puri, Onion Bhaji, Chicken Shaslik, Korma, Plain Naan and Bombay Potatoes. All hot, delivered promptly and with friendly service. Will be back very soon.

We had a really delicious meal as always to celebrate a family birthday, friendly service as always. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice little gem in ongar parade. Food is simple but nice, I have had better currys but is of a good enough taste to still go back. Get very loud when busy and the kitchen can struggle at times.

A few weeks ago I had a takeaway from this restaurant whilst at my sons in Addlestone. It was delicious. To give it another go, I ordered for delivery on their website but they later called, full of apologies to say I lived too far away (Staines) which was fair enough at 4 miles. I therefore said I would collect at an arranged time. Got there 5 minutes early, had a lovely welcome and was offered a small complimentary cold Cobra whilst I waited ! Food was produced exactly on time and even after driving home was still piping hot ! Had the Chicken Tikka Resana which was delightful. Full of flavour. Will be booking a table there in the near future.

A friend recomended this place, so popped in and tried, really glad we did. welcomed by smiling staff and shown to our table. food smelled amazing so knew we were in for a treat and we were food was tasty and plentiful go here and enjoy

First time ordering from Zaal and will definitely be the last. The managers attitude in dealing with a mistake on the order was appalling. I had simply asked for a refund on the dish that was wrong, we paid in full for everything else. He denied any responsibility, telling me that the chef is his business partner so wouldn’t make a mistake and then told me not to order from them again. Such a shame to deal with it so poorly over an £8 dish.

We went last night for the Elvis theme and it was brilliant the atmosphere was fantastic food was fantastic staff fantastic just what me and my friends needed great night had by all i would certainly recommend this restaurant exceeded my expectations 10/10

Staff were in good spirits and quite entertaining. Food was yummy. Service could have been better (two items incorrect and had to ask four times for some water for the table) but over all a very good evening. Will def be back.

We ate tonight at the Zaal in Addlestone, the staff were very welcoming as soon as we arrived. The food was stunning with us both enjoying a chicken tikka masala and lamb bonar. Will definitely be visiting again soon and highly recommend 😌

We had a delivery. Food arrived cold, lacked taste and there was very little chicken and barely any prawns in our two dishes. The chicken curry was filled out with chunks of onions. Naan bread was just a lump of dough and the pilau rice,...

Best restaurant in addlestone quick and amazing service and very polite staff which makes the visit much more enjoyable.the food is amazing and it's one of the best Indian restaurants of many I have been to.i would highly recommend.

My first visit to this restaurant. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. I will definitely return.

Following 2 complaints about over charging we were awarded a 20% off loyalty card. Last visit we got the bill and no discount applied, complained and they gave 10% instead of 20%. Bills are written in incomprehensible scrawl so it is very hard to check. Speaking to other locals it seems to be common practice there.

Ordered a takeaway for the first time after hearing some good reviews about this place. Thought we would give it a try from our usual. We ordered a chicken tikka biriyani and a cholla king prawn dish. Both lacked flavour. The king prawn dish was described as medium but had no heat in whatsoever and lacked flavour. It was priced at £13. I could have put in on a pasta as it tasted more like a tomato sauce! Would not recommend. Called to complain and was offered something extra next time we order. If you want a decent curry go to The Spice Lounge in Addlestone.

Been coming here mainly for takeaways since I moved in to the area 2015. Personally the quality of the food has only improved and have had two top quality meals over the last week. I find the staff friendly and the owner Ash really cares about his restaurant. Following a recent issue he was so quick to apologise and put it right and it is a shame not all restaurant owners are like this. It is packed every weekend which says a lot about what us locals think about the food. Love that special biryani . I am quite a well travelled curry eater as you'll see from my reviews and know a good curry when I taste one. Keep up the good work guys.

I went to zaal restaurant the other day with my partner, what a amazing restaurant the service was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was amazing so mouthwatering and fresh hands down to the owner of the restaurant. I definitely recommend and will return myself again thank you once again 5***** service.

930pm on a Monday night and turn me away as they say they are closed. AMATEUR hour! No self respecting Indian should shut before 10pm. As a regular user I will NEVER use these people again. If you cant look after your regulars then you don't deserve a business!

Been here 3-4 times with family and friends. The curry sauces always tasted good and meat is tender, not cooked from frozen, however service is utter dissapointment.

First experience there nice place had chicken tikka and my god in the middle of the night had extremely bad stomach. Avoid.

Fabulous food and fantastic staff, this makes a winning combination and it was so good we are going back tomorrow. The menu is vast and just so tasty. Every table full so booking essential. There is parking outside and we are just so pleased to have found this gem.

Had a catch up with some friends and gad a lovely meal. We all gad something different and it was empty plates all around. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and welcoming. A good evening was had by all.

Zaal Indian Restaurant, Row Town, Addlestone, Surrey

I live about 50 yards from Zaal and so badly want to like it, but the truth is there’s not much to like. Some staff are friendly, some miserable, it’s very, very expensive and most importantly, the food is tasteless and bland at best. Every dish I’ve tried seems to have a watery tomato flavour with a faint hint of spices? All in all, very disappointing:(

Found this place with a google search because we couldn’t get a table at TopGolf. Really great food and prompt service. Easy to park up for the 4 cars we arrived in so will be revisiting.

The staff were very friendly and the restaurant surrounding was very clean. our main concern was the food was tasteless and very disappointing. The sauces on all three dishes were the same we won't be visiting again unless a change of chefs.

A very average meal at above average prices. Veg Biriyani had no flavour at all and was pale and unappetizing, Korma's and butter chicken lacked any real flavour or punch. Other veg dishes ok but nothing to get excited about. If you are a regular then you are welcomed, a newcomer feels unwelcome. Nevertheless a busy place which I guess says something. There are better options in the area...

I've been here a few times when back visiting family and so was part of a large group each time. The owner Ash and his staff always take great care of us and offer fantastic food to boot. They are very accommodating with any special requests (kids for example) and the food comes out in a timely manner. There is simply no overstating how good a "British" curry is compared to The US, so I thoroughly enjoy my "fix" when I'm visiting. Please give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

I continue to eat here due to it accepting TasteCard and being walking distance - which is needed as the prices are now very expensive for what is small Indian in a non town location

I would say I’m now a regular at this curry restaurant. First came in January 2017 for my work leaving do and loved it. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic. I like to try something new every time I come and I am never disappointed. I mainly come with my coeliac friend and they are always very accommodating and understanding. I will continue to come here for the great service and the delicious food.

Been twice now to Zaal since being recommended to visit by a friend and I wasn't disappointed. Very nice food and friendly staff. Small restaurant but managed to get a table both times. They also have a discount card that you can apply for on-line.

Phoned last minute and managed to get a table. Arrived on time and not sure if there was a problem with our booking or just our table wasn’t ready. Saying that we waited a few minutes and then were seated.

I have been coming to Zaall for over twelve years the service is second to none and the food has always been top notch.

Dined with my wife a daughter at the weekend, before ordering I checked with the waiter that I could use my Taste Card for discount, being a Saturday I wasn't sure. He advised it was fine to use. After the meal however, the manager advised it was not accepted but I pointed out it was unreasonable to tell me after our meal when i'd checked before ordering our food. After a long discussion in which he became increasingly rude and aggressive, both to myself and ultimately towards his 'idiot' waiter (his words, not mine!) he did give me the discount (apparently) but wasn't at all happy and had already made my wife and daughter feel so uncomfortable that they left the restaurant and waited in the car. Food was good, service from the manager basically ruined was was a good night until then.

The Manager, Ash, and his staff give you a warm welcome. Either eating in or having a take away the food is consistently good, in fact, very good. Whatever your taste, they will serve food to your liking, and if you don't enjoy it........get your taste buds looked at!

This was a fun night and great value. The set menu was very good and Elvis was great fun and very enjoyable.

We usually really enjoy Zaals and its our Indian restaurant of choice in the area. However, after our take away tonight we are disappointed to say the least! Unfortunately this has put me off returning.

Arrived without a booking on a busy night but managed to get seated within 15 minutes. Would have been good to be offered a drink whilst waiting. Our order was taken with a bit of delay. The food was of good quality and well spiced, although lacked some of the chilli punch I would have expected. Unfortunately my mixed grill was missing the King Prawns but to be honest I was happy with what I got.

Visited with friends for a birthday on the strength of the 4/5 reviews online. First thing we noticed was the lack of menus. 1 given to 5 of us, which was falling apart. Unfortunately this wasn't a blip. We were then presented with 8 burnt poppadoms which we didn't order, but assumed were complementary due to the lack of menusWe then had to argue with the attendant waiter who seemed determined to sell the burnt poppadoms to us. The food was poor. Despite ordering 5 different mains each one looked identical, in a non descript tomato coloured sauce. The vindaloo wasn't spicy, nor was the Madras. When we finished we were left with our empty plates and glassss for around 45 minutes as staff didn't pay any attention to us. On top of everything a service charge was levied. By this point we had given up. I've never left a review on TripAdvisor but felt impelled to do so after such a naff dining experience.

Undoubtedly best curry house around. Service is excellent and the staff always make a effort with the children. Also offer advice when asked. Either on your own , family or friends this is a great night out. Wonderful

We enjoyed our food but found a distinct lack of atmosphere. In addition the staff looked completely unenthusiastic- maybe we caught them on a bad night?

The Zaal has stepped away from the standard Indian curry shop. If there is such a thing as a boutique Indian restaurant i would say this is it.The food is excellent and so is the service.A little more pricey than a standard Indian but it makes a nice treat.

Superb food, all staff very friendly, excellent value for money. Highly recommend , they do a themed Elvis evening which is fantastic. A real must.

We use this Indian all the time and don't mind spending that little bit extra for great food,but on having a take way the food was bland and inedible. Maybe they have a new chef.will now be going else where

Food is very flavourful. Two of us had their delicious Achar Lamb. One had their king prawns and another the vegetable Biriani. Followed by kulfi (bought in but no less welcome and tasty). All in all a good place to know and return to. A bit on the e pensive side at £26 a head for the above meal and three large Cobras. D0 book in advance if going in the middle of the day.

Four of us went for the first time on a Saturday evening. It's such a popular restaurant we were lucky to get a table. The tables are beautifully laid and there was a very cheery atmosphere. A very pleasant manager and the staff friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and plentiful so you will not come away hungry! A thoroughly enjoyable evening and we are looking forward to going again and sampling more of the menu. But make sure you book ahead for a Friday and Saturday night!

We have eaten at the Zaal on many occasions as a couple and with friends and have always had a really nice experience. Ash "the manager " and all the staff are extremely attentive and the high quality of the food makes dinning here a pleasure.We consider we are lucky to live within walking distance of such a good restrurant.

I have been to this restaurant before and both the food and service have always been good however a couple of weeks ago my friend and I walked in at 10:20 on a Saturday night and could not even been furnished with a takeaway. Not inclined to go back even for the free drink that was offered as quite frankly I went home hungry. Don't publish opening hours and then not stick to them. Ridiculous.

Having lived in the area for 40 years we first visited the Zaal 2 years ago and loved it. It had been there a few years and wish we had visited previously. The food is always to a high standard and consistently good. Ash the Manager goes out of his to make sure you are well looked after. We have eaten Indian food for many years but this is by far the best.They do not deliver but their food us such high quality that customers are prepared to pick up a takeaway. Staff always polite and courteous. So lucky to have this near us.

I dine here regularly with my two sons and we have always received an excellent meal with a great atmosphere. The attention to detail and service is second to none and this is by far the best restaurant in the area.The restaurant is always busy so booking is advisable.

We did not book but was found a table by the very friendly staff and our meal was excellent .We shall definitely be returning and can't recommend Zal enough .

Having eaten at Zaal several times since discovering it early last year, after my visit to the restaurant today it has lost any repeat business from me and also I shall be removing the restaurant from being recommended from future corporate work evening meals. The meal itself was very mixed however this would have been forgiven if not for the poor service from slow delivery of dishes to inattentive waiting staff. We didn’t even have the customary “how is your meal” during the period we were there. On delivery of the bill we decided to only tip 8% over the amount due. We were then approach by the waiter who noted that the service charge was missed and proceeded to add this to the bill expressing that it was a mandatory charge. We articulated that as per stated on their bill the service charge was discretionary. The waiter then insisted they had to update this on the bill and the menu states that it was mandatory. He proceed to show us where this was written on the menu and behold it stated that service charge was discretionary. We will no longer dine at this establishment.

To be honest the food was ok, but all of this was tarnished by the service. The bill came, initially without any service charge. We proceeded to put down enough cash to cover the bill + tip of about 8% as the service was a little slow. The waiter then came over and said that a compulsory service charge of 10% hadn't been added and came back with a revised bill. When we questioned this as it states 'discretionary' on both the menu and then bill, the waiter wasn't accepting this and demanded 10% tip. We ended up paying but shouldn't have, we'd been here several times but now won't go back.

This is my favourite local Indian restaurant with good service and a tasty menu. I did not book but it may be wise to do so. Worth a visit.

Was travelling back from Essex and had to turn off because M3 junction was shut was getting late so said to Mrs do you fancy some Indian food on saying ok I headed for the Zaal it was the closest and had eaten there several times before. On a small parade of shops popped in to ask if there was a table because we had not booked and Manger kindly found one , restaurant was busy which was a good sign. Very attentive staff drinks delivered quickly and always refilled and the food was wonderful as expected great menu we had the chicken tikka starter and before I could ask for the Yogurt it was delivered to the table , the mains are specials always tasty , try the stir fried veggies as a side. Staff brilliant will always recommend this restaurant. Love the aniseed seeds you get with the choice when you get the bill. Prices are good , service included no complaints to this. Keep up the great food and service delivery. Highly recomended

Can for a nice dinner and well the food was fantastic! Surprising better than I thought it was going to be. The staff were friendly but maybe a bit more training as he dropped the flowers on out table as well as the salt.That's something that can be worked on but was a lovely visit. The place was dead when I was there. Not anyone eating apart from us, but I did come in early for a dinner. Zaal is clearly a popular place with the locals as so many came in for a takeaway. I can't wait to go back their again! Please go and try their food !!!!!! Spot on
