Raj Cuisine in Runnymede

Food was great. Service was comical. Have the waiters been taught to count? Have they been taught to use trays? Prices are extremely reasonable.

What a difference. Last week we had a great meal but tonight it was bland, not a curry flavour in the meal.

This has become our new favorite for a curry. Started having takeaways with friends and were struck by the excellent value for money and surprisingly good quality for the prices. Since then we have eaten in their restaurant and were again pleasantly surprised by the quality, quantity and value. And the venue itself is perfectly nice. Some relatives had been sniffy about it based on a past poor experience but I judge as I find and we have not been disappointed. I think one takeaway was missing one main dish out of the 6 we ordered which was annoying but it can happen to the best of places. Timing of deliveries can be a bit unreliable but so long as you allow for that you can always keep it in the oven for a short while until you're ready to eat. Curry doesn't deteriorate like many other types of food when being kept warm. I am over 60 and have eaten in the best places but nowadays I appreciate more, good value along with good quality. This place gives that. Recommended

Got told on the phone to not order from them again, when asking for a refund due to food being 2 hours late, cold, missing part of it and soggy. This is disgusting behaviour, and will not be returning (as told to )

Have used this Rest for 10+ years. Very few concerns but poppadums missing from tonight’s delivery, Chicken Tikka Pathia tonight probably the best ever !

Have used The Raj for a while now. Used to use the ine is West Byfleet and found their prices high, even though the food is good. The Raf is about 50% of the cost and has a wider menu. Their use of spices and condiments is good and the food is very tasty considering how much cheaper it is. The only thing that gets me is how quiet it is, which I don’t understand. You can always park free of charge, which is way better than Woking, you won’t be disappointed, give it a try. The tropical Balti is a good mix of meats etc and in a very good sauce.

Horribly bland and burnt food - never again!

Excellent service with nothing being too much trouble... Hectic with 16 to cater for, but generally food out together and always hot and tasty! We will be back!

Always enjoy our meals here at the Raj. The best onions onion bharji are served here. Lots of choices on the menu and the bottles of wine are very reasonably priced. Sometines the service can be slow but the food is well worth the wait.

Normally get take away from Raj, it is mostly excellent there have been occasions when it is only good but it is normally our resturant of choice.

Worst take away ever. Most of it went into the bin.

We have used the Raj for 16 years as both dine in and takeaway with only praise for their food which has always been of a consistently high quality, but tonight’s takeaway was absolutely awful. We had to hunt for the lamb in the lamb biryani and found 5 small pieces and the rice was so salty it was only barely edible in fact most of it went in the bin. The lamb Malay was similarly disappointing with the amount of the main ingredient - lamb - but was at least edible. Very disappointed. On a positive note the onion Bhajis were good.

Over an hour an 40 minutes for a take away. And it was mediocre. Very poor service. A shame as we used to enjoy food from there. We will not be ordering from there again. Advice: go elsewhere!

Very bad experience here over the weekend. Staff rude and miserable. Had to keep chasing them for dishes that we ordered. Not one please or thankyou....not even a smile. On of our dishes was left on the side for a ages to go cold. Sadly would not recommend dining here. Awful atmosphere

One of the poshest experience at such a jaw dropping price. The manager was such a sweet gentleman who gave the most amazing, rightly cooked dish.

The second and last time I dine at this restaurant. We waited 1 3/4 hours for the starter of samosas which was inedible due to it being frozen .. yes frozen in the middle. We then waited a further 40 mins for the mains which were again not hot and mine was completely the wrong order although I ate it as I wasn’t starving and couldn’t wait any longer.. it’s a shame because the food in the past was good but it seems they cannot handle the weekend and staff are not up to standard.. I wouldn’t have minded but other patrons got served well before us despite coming in a hour later than we did.. can’t recommend them any more!

So disappointed go on there web work out our meal came to 26.30 phone up to order and the bill came to 34 pounds I asked why then he worked it out again then it came to 30 pounds they need a new calculator or someone to who knows to add up

This has been hands down M y favourite curry house for years, having said that, just recently there has been a change in the quality of the food and detail of their order taking, they never seem to have enough staff in and get swamped with panic on phone orders and leave u on hold without even asking u if ok, ordered king prawn puri tonight and they forgot to put in the puri bread, there has been a change in the recipes of some of the dishes, particularly the chicken tikka masala, it used to be creamy and slightly Smokey, now it’s just more tomato generic type and doesn’t have the same flavour that made it stand out, probably a new chef, I get that restaurants are struggling and due to the times we live in corners can be cut but this curry house was the absolute best within 10 miles and sadly it seems to be on the decline, I hope they can take the feedback and go back to their old recipes, happy if they just up the price a bit to cover the costs as it was really that good, sad to see it go downhill over the last few months. Other than that I honestly think they’re tava gosht and chicken chilli garlic are some of the most flavoursome Currys I’ve ever tried. Come on guys, your better than this, up the game please.

Great food had the lamb nagaria, really tasty and spicy. Lot of restaurant dont make it spicy enough.

decent curry house. friendly staff and spacious decor. we ordered a bunch of meat curries and rice and sundries. I thought the chicken curry was well flavoured. wasn't a big fan of lamb tikka curry as the lamb is a little tough. overall a decent spot

Awful and such a shame.us as a family use to come here all the time but after moving out of the area we decided to come back for one night. and it’s has change!!food was disgusting starters and side dishes where cold and sent back they just microwaved them and gave them back to us main meals were not very nice either beer was warm and it’s such a shame to say this as they use to be lovely but all the staff where so rude we would never come back again!!!

We have eaten here for 7 years, the quality of food has always been outstanding as well as very reasonably priced. Service is slow, so we just have a few more drinks while we wait. Highly recommend!

Fantastic food and a great service.

The slowest service I have ever experienced. Over 2 hours to receive our main course. Had to ask 3 times to be served. Might be cheap but isn't worth it.

Went tonight and they said “ we don’t do tables for one “ I have never heard of this before, not like they were full. Lots of empty tables. No reason given..

My favourite dish from this place is the lamb rogan josh. Have this with a keema naan. Perfect

Wow, been over a year since last ate out and had an Indian. This was worth the wait. I wanted something different than my normal order. The waiter assisted me on choosing and the dish was outstanding. Will definitely be back soon.

Almost twenty years me and my family have been visiting the Raj. This place is the only good thing about this lockdown and I hope you guys stay safe and continue trading.

The best Indian restaurant in my opinion. Been coming to the Raj since I was toddler with my parents and through the years I’ve never found anywhere else that tops it. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is calm and happy, the food is absolutely Devine especially their saag paneer 10/10!!

I have useing this restaurant on and off for over 15 years. The family had a takeaway last week and the food was really, really good. One of the best Indian food takeaways I have ever had. Well done Raj Cuisine. 5 stars.

Always fabulous food ,might take a little longer but always freshly cooked to order with an extensive menu. The best Indian in the area and your takeaway does not differ from in house dining. Ensure that you phone in your order 40 minutes prior to arrival and you won’t have to wait. Raj oversees all aspects of your dining experience to high standards leading his family team.

Very rude response when trying to book a table.

We ordered a take away for delivery for our wedding anniversary scheduled for delivery at 7.35. By 7.50 nothing had arrived so tried contacting to see where our food was. Left messages for someone to contact us but no one did. By 8.15 we had given up hope so ended up with toast and marmite. What a romantic meal!!! E mailed the restaurant but no one bothered to get back to me. Very dissapointed. Won't be ordering from them again!!!

Went on a Sunday evening where unsurprisingly it was quiet. Our party of 7 all very much enjoyed the starters and main courses. It managed to combine decent food with inexpensive prices, so can be recommended for that. The service wasn't great, though, with very little enthusiasm shown by the staff, but not rude. The interior could do with a freshening up if they want to push for more upmarket prices. But if they are making a good living from not investing in the decor but concentrating on good, inexpensive food then it hits the mark. Would go again.

It says dine in however when I called I was answered by a very rude employee when I enquired whether we could book a table. He answered me with " I just told you we are not dining in and I don't no when we will be" and then he put the phone down in my ear. We really enjoyed the food there previously however we have experienced the treatment and the personal service is not acceptable. One always feels on edge asking or enquiring something by getting a short abrubt answer back.

Hideous food. Cheap weirdly cubed chicken that was like an old boot! Didn’t resemble butter chicken in taste or look. Dahl was like tasteless baby food. Pure congealed mush. Reckon they’d cooked the lentils all day? All in the bin. Frozen pizzas in oven. Just hope we are not sick? Terrible. Don’t bother

Disgusting take away went straight in the bin if I am ill tomorrow I will report them . The bag with the takeaway in split at the bottom all over my car seat and the food tasted weird with no particular flavour. It was nothing like I had from there before. I am all for supporting local restaurants but this is disgusting !

Raj Cuisine is back after a few months of closure due to the current pandemic. How I missed the curries and the Chicken Jalfrezi. You can really appreciate the authentic cooking of this place once you try others and come back to them. The closure meant that my family and I were almost exacted to try other local establishments that continued to trade but the quality is incomparable to the Raj. Glad your back team!

Authentic classic dishes as well as some innovative new ones. Great dining experience and fantastic staff.

The pandemic has affected a lot of businesses in the area but a number of restaurants were still open. But the Raj was closed for many weeks and I honestly missed the quality! I picked up a take away over the weekend and it made my week. The guys are brilliant and Im so glad they are up and running again.

Simply put.... yummy. My husband and I have eaten and had take away. Eating in is definitely better but the takeaway is good as well. My only niggle, they’re very expensive.

This is my local Curry house and feel like i have given this place a fair chance. Get great value for money here but unfortunately all the people that work front of house here are alwful. Never felt any warmth or welcome when I either sit in or order out. But since placing a collection tonight over the phone and being told the usual Tuesday deal wasn't on, £10 off order over £35, I decided I didnt want the order then the lovely chap at the other end moaned I had wasted his time and slammed the phone down. I did chuckle and wasn't surprised. We Had a kebab instead, chaps in new haw kebab are absolute gents. All the best Raj xx

Can’t beat the Raj in my opinion. Just reminds me of the good old days when you went for a Ruby and it was authentic. The staff work hard to keep customers happy and they are always busy especially on the take away side. I always rave on about how good the value is here and you get plenty of bang for your buck.

Can't cope when busy my wife's chicken tandoori wasn't even cooked it was still raw and blood still coming out of chicken very worrying for sure and all they did was take it back and re heat it like nothing was wrong and brought it back with no salad just a bit of chicken on a plate....service was also very slow.....

Haven't been out for a Indian meal in ages after a couple of not good experiences. This was perfect! Couldn't fault anything and excellent value for money too. I think we will be regulars!

Been coming to the Raj a while now, both take out and dining in. Yes there can be a bit of a wait to pick up a takeaway, but why not chill out with a drink or go to the pub down the road while you wait? Dining in, the staff can't do enough for you. Food is always fresh and of a very good quality. The price as well... incredible value for money, 4 poppadum's, 2 curries, side dish, rice and naan as well as a coke and large beer... £30, absolutely fantastic. There are a few curry houses in the area, all a lot more expensive and not as good quality as the Raj!See you next Friday!

We moved to the area about 6 months ago. Since that time we have regularly eaten here, both in the restaurant and as a takeaway. We have never been disappointed.The food is good, and what you expect from an Indian restaurant. It's nothing pretentious, if you want an "upmarket" experience in the area then West Byfleet is your better bet, here they just serve decent curries and accompaniments.The price, for the quality, is outstanding. The two of us typically have poppadoms, a side, two mains (go for vege ones, you get a great variety of veg in there), a naan and a bottle of red and have change from £35....Keep up the good work Raj!

The restaurant was very busy so we decided to takeout last week. Ordered for four of us and the food arrived on time pipping hot. Delicious as usual and must try the Garlic Chilli Chicken.

Fancied an Indian and this is my favourite. The place is always busy and although I note a few negative reviews I understand this is because of how busy this place can be especially on take-aways. The food is very good here and we love it. A must try in Addlestone!

Ordered a takeaway 12th Oct. Waited 2 hrs for delivery. Food very poor. Chicken Tikka was so dry i couldn't swallow it! Tarka Daal tasteless...we went to the restaurant last year (not our choice). Party of 11. We had booked but they couldn't seem to cope. Not one person in the restaurant was eating so we left and went elsewhere. Appauling. Should be shut down it was so bad.

Using the recommended online app and booking my takeaway 1 and a half hours before I needed it, restaurant could not deliver at all had to drive to the restaurant to enquire after them putting the phone down on me.

Take away que was a little long but worth the wait

Some staff are pleasant, some are rude. They seem to get in a flap with things. Food is very nice but ingredients have been inconsistent of late. Have started to be a bit hit or miss.

Service can be a little slow and the beer choice could be better but the food is really really good! Try the Tava dishes under the specials section they come on a hot plate and are flavourful (not creamy).

It wasn’t a busy Thursday but the restaurant soon packed up at 9pm when it got much cooler. The team were as responsive as ever and the Chicken Sashlick was fantastic that night. Cheers lads!

Fawlty towers service without the laughs. They are so friendly and helpful when you get a takeaway, I think they just dont like serving tables. The food here is excellent but mainly takeaways we rarely eat in because of the service.

Worst curry I've ever had. Tikka masala not one bit creamy. Peshwari naan tasteless. Ask for no mango chutney in chutney tray but extra mint sauce .... got NO mint sauce and double mango!! Everything just tastes of tomato...don't waste your money 😊

Great food but service is very very slow

This was a very busy Saturday. They seem to be busy on the takeaway front too. Raj looks after us and I will always come back here even when they are busy. This team are fantastic.
