Chertsey Restaurant in Runnymede

We were staying overnight at the local Travelodge and stumbled upon this gem. The staff went above and beyond and were very polite and helpful. The food was delicious and came to just under £70 for 3 people with a drink, so it's reasonably priced as well. It seemed to be very popular with the locals with many knowing the staff on a first name basis. If you're in the area and in the market for an Indian give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

Title: Disappointing Experience Due to Rude unprofessional Waiter Review: I have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant, often enjoying the delicious food and welcoming atmosphere. However, my recent experience left much to be desired. During my last visit, I encountered a significant price discrepancy between the menu and the bill. Despite addressing this with the manager, the issue was not adequately resolved, and I was left feeling embarrassed and frustrated as I had to pay a few pounds more than the updated menu card they had given me later on. Upon returning to the restaurant after a couple of months, I was met with even more disappointment. The waiter approached my wife and me in a rude and unprofessional manner, bringing up the previous incident and making us feel unwelcome. Despite my attempts to explain the situation calmly, the waiter continued to be dismissive and confrontational. The entire encounter was embarrassing and uncomfortable, ultimately leading us to leave the restaurant without dining. It is disappointing to see such unprofessional behavior from a member of the staff, especially considering the otherwise positive experiences I have had here. I believe that addressing the issue with the waiter and providing additional training on customer service could greatly improve the atmosphere of the restaurant. In conclusion, while the food at this establishment remains excellent, the rude behavior of the waiter detracts from the overall dining experience. I would recommend addressing this issue promptly to ensure that all patrons feel welcome and valued. As we all come to a restaurant to spend a decent buck to feel good rather than be bashed by a waiter. Kudos to the chef for consistently delivering delicious meals, but a change in the attitude of certain staff members is necessary for me to consider returning in the future.

Good food - great place for friends to meet.

Ordered food for quite a substantial amount of money, order got accepted, 45 minutes later driver arrived at restaurant…. Then… order got cancelled… they are too busy 😡. Too late to make food … if they only refused the order, ok… but at that late notice… not cool!!!

Mr T and Jay do a fantastic curry! Chicken tikka is excellent. The garlic chicken is a wow! The whole experience leaves you wanting more.

Authentic Indian taste. So far best Indian taste I got after in the England.

So I haven't used this restaurant for some time, but thought I'd give it another go. What a mistake. I ordered a Reshmi kebab which was not on the menu. ( I have ordered them there before). Anyway it looked and tasted awful. I didn't finish it. It came with a salad (only onion) and mint sauce. My wife had a Chicken Korma, which she did not enjoy at all. Her Naan bread was in no way edible. Not light and fluffy as it should be. I had Chicken Madras, and mushroom rice. I always thought a madras had a kick. This was so bland and very salty. If I'm honest, it was disgusting. It's not the first time this has happened. In no way would I recommend this restaurant. I will not be back

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve eaten at. Lovely staff, lovely clean atmosphere and scrumptious, tender and flavourful food. 10/10 would recommend

I ordered a takeaway and thought I would get a drink in the pub next door the jack sparrow in which i found very welcoming and friendly while awaiting my order not only was the food excellent but they delivered it to me where I was having a drink absolutely brilliant service and 1st class food thankyou chertsey restaurant

I’ve a food for more 35£ for takeaway but as you can see it’s burnt naan. So never suggest anybody to buy food from this restaurant.

I went to this Restaurant last night with my husband and two children one of my children is autistic which I didn’t make know to the restaurant as I didn’t feel I needed to when we entered the restaurant at 6 pm there was two other guests in the whole of the restaurant my son started to have a bit of anxiety and was making a bit of noise before we could even order drinks a member of staff walked up to us and basically said can we try and keep my son quiet I said it’s hard kids are kids but will try and he basically said no we had to keep him quiet as he had other guests coming in at 7pm and then I said so if I can’t you want us to leave and he said yes you’re going to have to leave so when I made it known that my son was autistic and thank you very much for singling out disabled people are making me feel like my child is unacceptable and I walk out and left I think it was discussed in the way that I and my son was treated considering the restaurant didn’t have anyone in and I would not recommend this to anyone who was go in here with kids especially kids with extra needs

I suggest that I should order a takeaway on the weekend to try as I’m Asian and be able to recommend if it’s any good. I rang the restaurant, explained my background and requested that I wanted something authentic, not their usual stuff that they typically made for their English customers. I order a balti dish and naan bread, I mentioned that a balti or Khari as we call it is suppose to be more dry masala and not saucy. They said they would make it traditional, what I bought home was awful, it was load of source with barely any meat, it was nothing like a balti/khari. I don’t think people leaving the feedback on here know what a traditional good Indian food should taste like. I don’t think the missus will be using this place for her clients, it’s also over priced and terrible! I suggest you go to Southall if you want to taste real Indian food, go where Indian people go!

One of my favourite restaurants of all time - always good food, service and value, staff are always very personal and remember you Have never had a bad meal and have always been able to walk in without a reservation Take away is great too!

Stopped using them for takeaway a year ago because delivery was unreliable, two and a half hours when told 1 hour. So last night I thought, I will give them another try, big mistake, I was told one and a quarter hours. Three hours later and only after five phone calls, our meal eventually arrived, had totally lost my appetite and I don't like eating that late at night and it screwed up our entire evening, so no I will not be going back.

I have been using the Chertsey Indian restaurant for a number of years. I must say I found them very reliable when I get a delivery and excellent food. The best Indian food around. The Bombay Aloo potatoes are the best I've ever known.

The food is fine but it takes a ridiculous amount of time to receive your food. It shouldn’t take 2 hours for a delivery that is about 3 miles away

This restaurant provided food for the key workers at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey during the COVID pandemic. All the staff spoke very highly of the food they received and very much appreciate the support of small businesses such as this one and the local community at this time.

Please if you are going to order from here please have at least 2 hours spare. It takes them ages to deliver. I called them up and said I would like a discount for taking two hours to deliver as I had work the next day. They started shouting saying they would give no discount and they hung up on me.

Ordered a meal on just eat. Had to wait 1 hour 45 mins. Called to complain as meal had still not arrived and they were so rude and told me I had to wait a further 20 mins and hung up on me. We have been eating in the restaurant and ordering take aways for years but they were incredibly rude and could not give a damn. Really disappointed with their customer recovery. Will be going elsewhere now. Shame on you.

Warm welcome as we entered the restaurant. Service was quick and helpfull with the menues food was well presented and delicious. Would recomend this restaurant to anyone .

Food was good fair price really liked fact they served my after dinner brandy in a warm glass

Have been using this restaurant for a good few years and always found the food to be good. We went recently and first time since covid to find they didn't have a QR code for us to check in. I asked for it and the waiter said we have your name and phone number from your booking. I would be happier if they had one so that if someone does report as having covid on the app then we would know about it. Mask wearing by staff was intermittent. We have in the past a few times ordered a delivery but this took ages to arrive and had to call several times to find out when it was going to arrive. I think people were also calling whilst we were there asking the same question. All in all I like the Chertsey but I was a little concerned about the PPE there amd covid safety. The food is good and the staff are friendly.

Food excellent but delivery leaves much to be desired. Quote 1hr delivery and delivered in 1 and 3/4 hrs. A realistic delivery time would be useful

Ordered a takeaway for the four of us and I must say it was probably one of the best curries I've had in recent years! The portion sizes are really good and all of our dishes were very authentic. We received a 10% discount for collection also. Highly recommended. 😀

Fantastic food as always great ambience

Really excellent Indian food. Some of the best I have eaten. The environment was a bit basic, but service and friendliness of staff was very good. 3 of us had the lamb chops to start which were delicious. My wife and I had the king prawn rezalla as a main, and the flavours and quality were exceptional. Highly recommend this. The kids had chicken shashlik and chicken tikka massala - both really enjoyed. Wait time was quite long due to being busy, but only because all was cooked from scratch.

We are staying at a local hotel in the Chertsey area. Our hotel has limited options for food so I jumped on Just eat and did some googling. I can not recommend this place enough, everything was really tasty. We had starters, mains, sides, popadoms and nan breads. It’s all good, but the best thing was, that I was I promised a delivery at hotel reception for 18.45 and they were there within a few seconds with piping hot food and cold beer! If I’m ever back this way, I know where I’ll be eating!

First time ordering and at first I was sympathetic because just eat put the order through when I was 8miles away, but they accepted. When the order came I got 1 single poppadom and one single butterfly king prawn for £5. If you are ordering make sure you double check your quantity unless you want to be disappointed.

Good Indian takeaway. Nice tasting. Good price. Old school Indian food. Place needs decorating. Staff needs Better presentation. But to rate just on the food Good.

We ordered via just eat and our order was not delivered to our address and the Restaurant called us a liar and would not replace or refund us!

Enjoyed takeaway curries from here twice during Lockdown. The Lamb and Chicken is tender and plentiful, and the Bhuna and Tikka Massala are full of flavour. The Sag Paneer is different to any I’ve had before - tastes like Spinach and Paneer in a Korma sauce. Delicious. Look forward to visiting the restaurant when things go back to normal!

Terrible service ... ordered food at 6:15 and turned up at 20:55... food was average and we found a wood like object within our dish.... kept being told it would take 5mins every time we rang the shop... once the food turned up the excuse was the delivery driver was the only one on? If thats the case don’t take the orders if you cant keep the quality and pace of the service up to a decent standard ......wont be using again.

I visited with a friend recently and the food was amazing. The staff were attentive but not too in your face, which was good The menu choices are pretty much standard Indian with a few specials all at very reasonable prices. I will definitely be returning :-)

I have been to the restaurant twice now, and I can honestly say it's very fresh and reasonably priced. They aim to please. The curry I had was chicken chilli, I requested it be extra spicy and they delivered it to me with no problem. Saag chicken also is no exception too. Yes I recommend this place for authentic food. But if you want it to be more spicy, then you need to inform them. Yep, give them a try because you might be pleasantly surprised!

Beautiful fresh Indian food. The smell is fantastic as you walk through the door! All the Anglo-Indian classics, plus some excellent chef specials we’ve never had at other Indian restaurants. Would thoroughly recommend. Excellent service, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Could not fault. Well done Chertsey Restaurant!!

Great value for money and decent quality but can get very busy quickly, so probably a best idea to reserve a table on Friday and Saturday evening

The food was absolutely fantastic and the customer service was great and very freindly. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves indian food or who wants to try a new style of dinning.

Lovely service from everyone in the resturant the waiters where very friendly and welcomed us very nicely and politely. The chef was also very polite and the food tasted very good really would recommend this to many others i had the lamb naga i could taste every single flavour.

Came across this place whilst visting my husbands family, will be visting again when we are next visting family. Staff very friendly, food very tasty, good customer service.

Absolutely diabolical service. I am genuinely appalled. We ordered our food at 6:50. Said it would be delivered at 7:50. Nothing. We wait 15 minutes and call. It will be there at 20:10. We wait. Nothing. 20:20 comes. We phone again. Nothing. 20:40 - a manager called "Jay" said we would get a discount on our next order but refused to provide any form of confirmation stating that the company have no computers which is an utter lie! Will never ever be ordering from here again. And the food was anff too

Such a lovely restaurant, the food was lovely my curry was so creamy and I love how they cooked the rice. My partner said he chicken was cooked nicely. Really enjoyed it definitely will be coming back.

Went last night what a shambles, ordered meat samosas for starter took 20 minutes to come and were still frozen in the middle, they seem to cater more for takeaways

Ordered a chicken korma, tasted like soil. Naan bread was like a wet sock and prices where so cheap I should have known better. Bad way to to spend my Saturday night, and a even worse Sunday spent on the loo. After putting food on plate my korma and rice turned into a water feature that the Chelsea garden show would have been proud off. I will be avoiding for my own health ever going back to this place again, 9 of us ate 9 of us was ill disgusting health and hygiene need to pay these guys a visit!

A small curry house with attentive staff. The food took a while to arrive but when it did it was obviously fresh and very tasty. Not really a romantic location as small with various other customers. We will certainly eat again but probably as a take away.

By chance we stumbled across this restaurant, one of the local regulars was outside and we were advised that the restaurant was very good. He was not wrong,,, Service was very good we took the specials option which was very good value really tasty and full of flavour. If you find yourself in Chertsey, fully recommend this restaurant.

Clean and neat restaurant with very good service. Food is tasty too, but the sause seems to have covered the original taste of the food ingredient (fish or shrimp for example). Overal a good place for Indian food.

Good food but a little expensive for drinks, two glasses of wine was about the same price as the meal

The food is nice, I've had it a couple of times before, ordering from JustEat However that's where the problem lies I preordered a takeaway today for lunch and the order went through saying it should come at around 12:40. 1pm I call them and they said that they don't do deliveries at lunchtime. Well then, why was my order accepted in the first place? Ultimately forgot Cancelled Orders and a clear communication issue with JustEat, when I spoke to them they were rude and somewhat hostile "LISTEN YEAH" I think was the cashier (or manager, I don't know, I was passed over from one guy to another) left off the conversation before I hung up. TLDR: A minor inconvenience that could have easily been fixed at least on a Customer service level One last thing. I just clicked the link for the restaurant and it goes to a page selling Nike Shoes. Take control of your domain name

nice Indian in Chertsey. Nothing spectacular, but all the usual food you would expect. Service was very good, food bought quickly to the table. King prawn puree was lovely, nice bit of spice. All in all, a good indian.

They were happy to accommodate different dish requests. The "screaming hot balti" was very indeed very hot! Garlic chilli main we was very nice as was the korai and tarka Dal. Aloo chaat Puri and prawn Puri starters were great. Friendly staff, although we visited at 10pm and were asked to order quickly (restaurant states that it is open until midnight on a Saturday. That was the only negative. The restaurant has a nice selection of beers, with Cobra on draught and mongoose bottled beer 660ml. I haven't seen mongoose for years so it was interesting to try that (it's the original Cobra recipe). One friend had an Aspal's cider, it was a fancy version and 7% abv! I'll try takeaway next time. If it's as good as it was when dining in, then this will be my new go-to for takeaway.

Great value on a Wednesday, service could be better and food very good for the price. Dropped a star because of the appalling music choice. Honestly, have no idea why you'd be playing dance music in a restaurant.
