Ordered placed 2 hours prior to collection time. On collection I waited a further 30 minutes. Obviously they had made errors and forgot to cook the order. Instead of apologising they said nothing, once the food eventually came, no apologies were made. Terrible customer service delivered in this instance.

Went here on the basis of trip advisor reviews. Arriving at 9:30pm it wasn’t that busy and so service was very quick. The special ordered was a mix of chicken, prawn, king prawn and lamb. I’d had all in, though only one king prawn and the prawns were very small. Good flavours and service was quick, so the only reason for the mark down is on the quality of the dishes. Will use again

We hadn't booked but we're warmly welcomed. We had 3 courses as it was our first time. Great shaslick, amazing tray of chutneys with poppadoms. We were very impressed with the mains. Naan was tasty and not burnt or crispy. Good saag aloo too. Home made style caramel ice cream and kulfi. Was £30 a head for 3 courses and poppadoms with 1 alcoholic drink each. Great value but also some of the loveliest service we've had. Also, lovely hot towels at end, unusual nowadays. Thank you. We'll be back.

The best Indian restaurant in Ashby! Absolutely amazing food, with fabulous staff who are really friendly. We were greeted at the door and taken to our table with all Covid precautions in place. They have plastic dividers in between tables to make you feel safe and at ease when dining in to have the most ‘normal’ experience possible in these unprecedented times. I could not recommend a better restaurant for affordability, great service and delicious food. I would highly recommend the Rickshaw as the perfect place to eat for a meal out.

Under new ownership, this was the first time I had been there, and what a disappointing experience. Fortunately I was late home from work, so just called in for a takeaway. The curry was awful, just bits of meat in a watery gravy, no resemblance to an authentic curry as well. How sad that the previous high food standards have now gone. I wont be going back. My friend had a King Prawn Bhuna...the prawns were also hard, dry and tasteless as well as being unrecognisable as prawns. The rice was slightly hard. The best thing was the bombay potatoes, at least these were cooked and mushy. I couldn't be bothered to complain and wait again for food so kinda ate the sauce around the chicken and filled up on the potato's. I have been going to this Indian on and off over the past 9 years I guess, both dine in and takeaway. It was the most attractive and authentic interior of any of the Ashby Indian's- ornate carvings here and there, booth style areas for modest privacy and a secluded tiny bar for a drink, especially whilst you wait out of the way for your takeaway collection. The interior is tired these days and the exterior in daylight is looking really quite shabby. The food has definitely gone downhill in the last couple of years. The quality of the meat in the curry is pretty bad and the ratio of sauce to meat is 'on the saucy side'. It feels to someone who had this restaurant as his faved Indian in the area, like times are hard and they are penny pinching which has sent them in a downward spiral of fewer customers, more tightening of the belt and so on.Staff are hospitable and courteous.I go elsewhere these days.

We have only used this place because our usual is not open and I have to say I'm very dissappointed with the service. They originally told me r5mins to an hour for delivery which was fine it's Saturday evening and busy. After an hour I get a phone call saying that the lady at the address didn't have any money to pay for the delivery... no one had knocked at my door so they had gone to the wrong address. Then I was told ten mins for the delivery, 20 mins later they finally arrived with our food and (now this is a small grip) told me the order was 20.75 when I was told over the phone that it was 20.35. I said that I would pay the 20.35 because that's what I was told and they were over an hour late delivering to then have a you get girl say to me that if I couldn't afford to pay then they would need to take the food back. I will definitely not be ordering from here again as I feel the service is terrible.

Since moving to the area we have tried many curry places but have found The Rickshaw to be nicest so far . Good consistency and flavours . Murghgi masalla is a strong favourite here as is a chicken bhuna. They are always happy to adjust dishes or make naan that aren't specified on the menu. My only criticisms are : the medium dishes are not spicy enough to count as medium IMO and the car park is small if eating in . Neither of those 2 negative points stops me retiring though !

Even with such a large group, there was no need to pre-order and starters arrived for us all only about 15 minutes after we ordered. The food was tasty and the Indian beer was chilled to perfection. My Chicken Pasanda was great but the Prawn Puri starter was fantastic! I also want to call out the chutneys that came with the popodums. One of our friends had another dish an the waiter confirmed what we had expected is that it was made with tomatoe ketchup! Hardly Indian cuisine.Although the service was good, the food spoilt what I had expected to be one of the highlights of the evening.

Went there early on a Saturday evening with my Mum who's currently on crutches. The staff were super attendant with her and made us feel very welcome. The menu was extensive, but due to the low level lighting Mum found it difficult to read! I'm all for mood lighting but it was a bit too dark. The service was very promp and the pickles with the popadums very tasty. My bench mark curry when trying anywhere new is chicken patia. This wasn't as firery or zingy as I like it, but is was ok. (I like my curry on fire).Mum had the Tandori Prawns with spinach. The waiter recommended extra garlic, which took it to a new level. Mum was thrilled to bits. Everybody enjoyed thier meal and despite service starting to get busy, we were not rushed to cavate the table. The staff were equally attentive helping our exit. I can recommned to anybody with a medim disability.

We had a takeaway from Rickshaw when some friends visited. The food was excellent and I will definitely use their takeout menu again.

Excellent food. Wonderful staff. I had a special vindaloo cooked to perfection. The restaurant was fully booked. Buzzing. Such a great night out. Best curry ever

Booked a meal with friends, really good service and choice on the menu, however the food was nothing special when it arrived, my Medium Hot dish was more like a chicken stew that lacked flavour or heat. Overall ok but not rush back and better places to eat

I randomly chose the Richshaw as I was in the area on business. The staff were polite and attentive, well they couldn't use the excuse that they were busy as I was the only one there. I was shoved in a corner out of the way.The food was plentiful and OK taste. I ordered the Nina masala. A king prawn tikka masala. The food was ok, not amazing. If I'm in the area again I'd try somewhere else before returning to the Rickshaw.

My husband and I recently visited mid-week. Having visited a couple of years ago and being severely disappointed in the standard of food we decided to try again after hearing from friends that it was 'really good now'! The restaurant was empty (6-30pm) but I've come to expect that since moving to Ashby! The welcome was ok, decor and furnishings are nice. The young waiter was obviously very inexperienced but was polite enough. Poppadoms arrived quickly with 4 sauces/pickles. What was supposed to be the yoghurt & mint sauce looked like runny custard and tasted of nothing. Even the onions were bland! We both ordered 'medium' curries - both were devoid of flavour, there was no spicing and not even a hint of heat. May as well have ordered a Korma (but even that should have some lovely flavours). We ordered mushroom fried rice - what came was just normal white rice with a few anaemic mushrooms stirred in. No sign of being fried and no sign of any flavour. How can they get it so wrong!! I previously lived in Sutton Coldfield for many years where there are dozens of excellent Indian restaurants serving tasty, well presented, beautiful food at more reasonable prices. Maybe I've been spoiled but the lovely people of Ashby deserve better than this and those who are giving good reviews of the food at the Rickshaw have obviously never eaten a decent curry. Needless to say we won't be going back. We will head back to De La Zouch which serves great food or drive 25 miles to Sutton Coldfield where a decent curry is almost guaranteed.

we booked for 16 people to visit this restaurant for New Years eve. So we paid our £ 70 deposit and were booked in for 7.30. actually 14 people from our party attended and we all turned up on time. summary of the evening goes as follows- arrived at the Richshaw and had to fight our way through a queue of people waiting for take aways !!then we were seated at two separate tables of eight !!! not a good start we had been there twenty minutes and were not even asked if we wanted drinks !then we had to wait for drinks due to the size of the takeaway queue who also used the bar to collect food !!40 mins later we chased up menus !we had to request papadoms four timesstarters finally arrived after 90 + minutes main courses then did not arrive at all in between all of this at least four other small parties arrived, were fed and had left !main courses turned up around 150 minutes into our sitting food was disgusting ]no taste, no sauce service was none existent the Manager was a disgrace the staff were rude, and clearly do not understand good customer service the quality of the food was five times worse than the pre packed Indian food you can get from Supermarkets up and down the Country this has to be the worst Indian on the planet and I strongly urge you to pick a better venue.

So tonight was hurrendous!! Our first visit to the Rickshaw, for some of our party they had visited before without an issue (but only as a take away). We booked a table for 17(which we had paid a £70 deposit for), when we arrived they seated us over and the group had been split into two tables. We hadn't been told about this which was disappointing but we just went with it. That was it for half an hour, just sit there and wait for them to finish serving everybody else! We were getting drinks at the bar which was a nightmare in itself! We then had to ask for some menus as still no one had acknowledged us! When the menus were finally delivered, we asked for some poppadoms whilst we were looking at the menu, the man said no because some of our party were at the bar and he needed everyone seated before we could order poppadoms!!!! So eventually we got some poppadoms! We then waited and waited for someone to come and take our food order. This order was taken an hour after we had arrived! We waited over an hour for our starters to arrive so we asked how long this was likely to take, they kept saying 2 minutes, 2 minutes, they're coming now. Another 20 minutes and two starters came, one which was wrong but eaten anyway for the hunger had taken over! These two starters finished by the time the next two arrived. We had children with us Aswel so we had to order a plate of chips for them as they were getting impatient and very hungry!! The two people that had finished there starters asked the manager? If he could start preparing the main meals straight away so they were ready to come out as soon as the starters were cleared. No such luck. The starters were cleared after we piled all the plates up after being ignored, our hot plates in the middle remained cold as still had not been lit, we had no plates given to us for the food to come so we knew we were still in for a long wait! Four tables that walked in an hour and a half after us were all served there meals before we even had our starters!!! The amount of take aways was ridiculous! It was so poorly managed. Our food then arrived. Inedible and to be honest, most of us had gone past the point of being hungry, 10.15pm our mains arrived, 3 hours after our table was booked!!!!! We nearly missed seeing the new year in! The curry's had no sauce, they were like just meat and thick stews!!! Which can be seen in the picture. One member of the party, had raw chicken, this also after having frozen prawns in there starter!!!! The chicken curry was identical to the two kormas we had, only it tasted of oranges? A really strong orange taste. The rogan josh was dry and tasteless with tonnes of vegetables! The whole experience was awful. Every time we tried to speak to a waiter, we were ignored, we had been promised that the manager would come and speak to us, NOTHING!!! Didn't even go near the bar where he'd been all night! He was hiding away!! Then came sorting the bill, he told us to pay what we wanted! We said we weren't payong more than half! The bill came to 212 and we'd already paid 70 so agreed to give them another 30 and call it square! He agreed and as we were leaving, got angry with us and told us we owed him £6 as this was half the bill!! THE CHEEK!!! The staff are rude and arrogant, food not great, the way it's run, appalling!!! The whole place is terrible. Will never return, ANY OF US!!!!!!! Couldn't see where they'd gone wrong or even apologise!! Not happy at all.

Best Indian cuisine in Kegworth. Must visit once. Hygiene, best customer service and best food in village. I’ll visit again

Just love the friendly service and great food here. The only thing that disgusts me about the venue is the state of the toilets. The grim ladies was out of order on our last visit and was directed to the disabled loos. OMG this is even worse. Not just manky but also had a shit washing pot by the loo. Sorry but this is beyond disgusting. Makes me wonder what the hygiene standards are in the kitchen irrespective of the score on the door of 5. Please sort it out because the state of the loos makes me retch. Thank you.
