Chilli N Spice in North West Leicestershire

Called in for a take away last night food was very very tasty still hot when we got home really enjoyed our meal best we had for a long time will be returning excellent service aswell 🙂

The food was faultless. Fresh, warm, tasty, authentic and special. The team were able to adapt the menu to meet dietary requirements and the added honey on the Peshwari Naan was an added bonus.

been here many times , never yet had a bad experience or meal, food is always tasty, friendly staff , easy access no steps, my only gripe is tables could do with being about 6" bigger in length longer!

Great food. Excellent service from Ismail. Thank you so much for being so helpful and willing to double check with the chef whether certain foods were vegan. Fantastic customer service which is rare; in fact we’ve not had Indian food (locally) for a while because we normally feel like we’re being a pain. But nothing is too much trouble here and that’s really appreciated. We’ve recently moved back to the area so you have some new regular customers :)

As a family we don’t have many curries, so when we do we always want one that will impress & let me tell you Chilli N Spice do not let you down! Delicious prawn biriyani, dupiaza with so much flavour, my favourite peshwari naans & more! I can’t recommend them highly enough! Great value for stunning food!

When we want a local takeaway this is our normal restaurant of choice. However tonight it hasn’t been up to scratch despite ordering our usual favourites. The food was extremely bland, tasting only of oil and the onion sauce base. The fish Bhuna, my normal choice was nothing like usual - no chilli and no spice! Also when we collect the restaurant normally includes free popadums - not tonight. Hopefully this was just an off day rather than “ the new normal”...!

This is great here, staff friendly food great . I can say if u come to chilli N Spice u will have a great time

have been to this place everytime i come to stay in swannington to visit my sister and have never been disappointed with the food or the pints of cobra,great choice on the menu.decor nice and toilets clean.staff very friendly can explain the menu and advise on your choice.they do a lovely lemon rice, i can never get it anywhere else. would def recommend this place will def return when i am back in swannington

Not sure what's happening with what used to be my favourite curry house. Asked for a curry to be delivered, to be told it would be quicker to collect it (in 35 minutes). So, went to collect it, arriving 40 minutes after ordering - then sat and waited another 25 minutes while the food was cooked! After 2 other customers came in and walked straight out with their orders, I asked how much longer my order would take - then it miraculously arrived (with no apology for the delay). Then when I actually ate my curry, they seem to have forgotten to add any chillis/heat to it. I ordered a medium korai, which tasted more like an English lamb stew. Come on Chilli N Spice, get your act together! I'll be going elsewhere for a while, while you improve your customer services/cooking.

Not good at all. All 4 curries were absolutely swimming in oil with Very little meat. Lamb was tough. All overloaded with onions and tomatoes. No flavour. 2 free poppadoms with a £70 bill! Tinned Aldi curry tastes much better. So never again. Disgusted.

Never been disappointed with food here great choice, very tasty food & service 2nd to none. Well worth a visit !!

These guys never fail to amaze us , group of 16 every meal came out together, fantastic food , service and hospitality excellent value for money , can’t wait to return.

Without a doubt the most delicious take away my family and I have ever had! Staff were very friendly whilst collecting too. Will definitely use again.

Booked in for 6.30pm on a Friday night 08.03.19. 3 or 4 family tables already inside. Been before but not for a while and never as a couple. Pleasant staff. Decent draft Cobra. Food was brilliant from start to finish. Great meal plus bottle wine... £60. Will not reveal our order just go and get stuck in We will be going again soon. It really was that good - so close to home spells danger .. lol Cheers.

Booked a table for NYE early doors because we had other plans later in the evening, arrived and the place was in meltdown, the restaurant was not full, quiet a few tables were empty.... rude unprofessional staff, 50 mins after arriving we were still yet to have our order taken, we had decided in this time to skip the starter and go for main course only, when our order was finally taken we were told the wait was another hour!! that is including the 50 mins we had already waited!! if this was the case the order should of been taken straight away on arrival then the hour wait would not have been an issue, after trying to get a table at another restaurant unsuccessfully we chose to stay put... the hour wait turned into 1hr 20 mins, my curry had six small chunks of tough meat and enough sauce to cover everyone else's meal as well as my own.... two of us had the squits for 36 hours and another one in our group was sick that evening, and I must stress it was not from drink as it was our designated driver!! phone constantly ringing which was loud and was ignored...gents toilets were leaking so it was lovely to then have to walk back past the kitchen, into the restaurant trampling urine and faeces all through to get back to our table. we paid and left at almost 10pm, no apology for the wait or even a drink knocked off the bill in way of trying to make things right. Shameful !!

My husband and I love this restaurant, their food is fabulous! I come from Berkshire originally, and my career has taken me all over the country, I love curry, so I’ve dined in many curry restaurants, and I can safely say this is an exceptional restaurant! It is the type of restaurant that when my hubby and I eat curry at another restaurant, be that in London or Loughborough, we say ‘that was nowhere near as good a Chill’n’Spice! We highly recommend it!

We couldn't fault the food here. However we went on a Wednesday night and we were the only ones in so the atmosphere (or lack of it) was disappointing.. In fairness we gather this place gets very busy at weekends so no doubt the atmosphere would be a lot better. Would we return? - yes probably as the food was excellent if a touch dearer than your average indian, but we would probably go again at the weekend.

We tried Chilli N Spice for the first time. The take out Menu was the same price as for eating in. We spent £26.35 for 2 curries, 1 rice and 1 nan. Both curries had lots of sauce and a small amount of prawns and chicken. The Nan was dry and the curries were poor. There was no complimentary salad or yogurt. We will stick with the Cinnamon Tree, not as expensive and always 5 star quality.

This was first visit to Chilli and Spice although my family has lived in the village for 40 years. I took a party of 6 and only one (my brother) had eaten here before and had recommended the restaurant to me. That was the reason for our visit. The was very warm, the service was fast and the food was superb. Wonderful flavours combined to give excellent dishes. Finally the price was excellent. Thank you all for an excellent meal I will most definitely eat here again and use the take away service.

We visited Chilli and Spice for the first time on Saturday to celebrate a birthday. We were a party of 3 adults and 3 children.

Eaten here many times in the past but it has been awhile since our last visit. Food still excellent and still a polite and friendly welcome. Not as busy as I’ve seen it in the past so maybe that is why service was slow. Waiter took drinks order but wouldn’t take food order at same time even though we were all ready to order. Drinks took quite some time to come and then we ordered poppadoms. The waiter didn’t take rest of food order said to wait until poppadoms arrived! Well another 10 mins passed and the poppadoms arrived then he took order fir rest of food. Playing for time I think. Food arrived sometime later and was up to the usual standard. Throughout this strange ordering system the waiter was friendly and polite and very chatty. However at the end of the meal a different waiter cleared our table and we asked for coffee. My friend asked for tea and was told they don’t do that. I asked for cappuccino and was quite abruptly informed “no we only do coffee “ I asked what kind he said “just coffee it,s not a coffee shop you know”! His tone rather rude. Coffee arrived and it was cheap tasting and instant I think. It was a shame because it spoiled what had been a nice evening. Hope this was a one off but just be aware that if you want a hot drink at the end of your meal and you don’t want coffee you better leave in time to go to a coffee shop instead!!!

Eaten in this place a number of times and it is absolutely amazing the staff are great and the food even better. But for some reason when you get a takeaway it’s horrid! 3 occasions now I tried to get a takeaway from here and it was just really bad like buying from a completely different place?! I’d definitely recommend eating in but avoid takeaway!

Called in here for a takeaway. It was quiet and we ordered a drink and our food quickly. 20 minutes and ready. We had murghi keema, chicken sholay, tawa dish and chilli spice chicken with pilau and keema rice together with naans - keema, chilli and peshwari. Got to say it was beautiful. So tasty and beautifully cooked with generous portions. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Good all-round restaurant. Nice food, good service, good prices. I would not say that it is out-standing or exceptional but perfect for a quick, inexpensive local meal. Comfortable interior and perfectly pleasant waiting staff. They also do interesting offers I believe at Sunday lunch time for example.

Had a wonderful evening here, the food was cooked tremendously, packed full of flavour. A very clean restaurant with very friendly staff packed with a good sense of humour, I will 100% be returning!

We had a really enjoyable meal and the service was great. The restaurant in the village of Swannington is warm, friendly and with first class decor and furnishings. Service is good with proper table-cloths and napkins. The food was really good quality but not for people on a diet! We will go back.

My wife and I had a very enjoyable meal here last night. They offer a sligjt twist on the normal Indian menu. The staff were attentive and polite and the atmosphere warm and comfortable. My wife normally does not prefer Indian food but she said she thouroughly enjoyed it and we will revisit regularly. The prices are towards the high end but we have paid more and got poorer quality and less at other restaraunts.

Four of us visited this great Resteraunt the other evening. Staff so friendly and obliging, they could not be faulted, so attentive making sure everything was as it should be.

Have visited twice in the last few weeks, both with the wife and with some friends.

The staff and the ambience, plus delicious food made certain that I enjoyed Sunday dinner at Chilli N'Spice on two occasions in recent months. Both have been excellent for price, food choice and service. Most recently for an all-in price of £10.95 my brother and I selected starters of onion pakora and pappadoms, with main courses of jalfrezi prawns and sagwalla lamb, accompanied by rice, mushroom and garlic naans, plus a couple of pints of Cobra. Heaven!

Visited on a Tuesday night with a small group of friends for a lads night out. We booked ahead but restaurant was pretty much empty the entire time we were there.

We decided last minute to try chilli n spice service was good as we went on Sunday night we could choose from a starter main choice of rice and naan bread for £10.50 each bargain..... lots of choices for each dish. The portions were ample...

We visit this place regularly and have always found the food to be excellent and the service first class. I'm not sure what the complaints are about it being pricey, we've always felt it was fairly priced for what you get

Had a Lamb Saag and once eaten. There was a thick layer of ghee left on my plate. Was a biy pricey for what we got but typical curry house. Service was good though!

Lovely restaurant with excellent food. Yes, a little expensive but freshly cooked and oh so tasty. We have had many take away meals delivery from them but the last one didn't taste too good so I complained. The manager said that the next meal would be free. This was way back in December last year and I had forgotten about it. Imagine my surprise when I have just rung (April 2017) and the manager has remembered me and has given us the meal on the house due to our complaint. Excellent customer service and we shall continue to order from them whenever we want a delicious Indian meal.

We arrived at the restaurant around 7.20 without having a table booked. Asked to take a seat Not many in but we had a seat in the small reception area. A party arrived and stood around us. They had only booked for 9 but wanted to increase their table to 12 but hadn’t the courtesy to phone that request in beforehand! The restaurant isn’t huge so it took a little time to get that sorted before we were seated. It looks like it’s been redecorated recently and I have to say it’s looking well.We ordered starter, main course and drinks. Onion pakoras and chicken tikka stuffed tomatoes for starters. Neither were spicy or warm…a theme that continued into the mains. Lamb chops, which are seemingly a chefs favourite, were bland not spicy and were more like a tomato casserole. Chicken sag, again little flavour and not warm. It’s a real shame the food did not live up to the surroundings. We overheard two tables complaining about the temperature of their food and a table of 6 complained that they had not been served their starters an hour and ten minutes after ordering.We hadn’t looked at the reviews before going to Chilli and Spice but there is a definite theme here with complaints all echoing ours of bland and cold food. There are good reviews as well…but that’s not been our experience so it all appears to be a bit hit and miss as to a consistent quality food coming out to your table. If you go to this restaurant it’s going to be luck that you get a decent meal but I am afraid we will be giving it a wide berth going forward.

We went there for a works Christmas dinner last Saturday night. This was the first time I had been to this restaurant and despite it being very busy the service, food and atmosphere was absolutely brilliant. Will definitely be visiting again soon!

Really good food. Parking on the road outside. Friendly staff. Didn't feel rushed like you do in some restaurants. We went mid week without booking and it wasn't busy. It is located in the middle of a village next to a school so it's not difficult to find. Eaten here a number of times and never had a bad experience.

After many visits to Chilli n Spice I am still amazed at the quality of the food - it never disappoints. Tasty, authentic, and good-sized portions, with the option to determine how hot you want your curry to be........ and the peshwari naan is the best ever.The staff are friendly and courteous, and the restaurant is modern, light, and airy. If you are in the area, or visiting, get on the phone a book a table.

We had a lovely meal here a few weeks ago, but last night's was distinctly average. The service wasn't as welcoming (we had to ask for drinks and pappadoms!), the starters not a tasty as usual, and the mains were all far too sweet. I'm not sure whether it was the usual chef or not, but it certainly wasn't as good last night as it has been. We've booked again for next Saturday to give it another opportunity.

Have visited for many years and sampled too many take-aways to imagine. Never disappoints. Probably the best Indian restaurant I have had the pleasure of frequenting.

Come here a lot food and service are good along with price. Staff are very friendly :) special menu on Sundays for 4 courses for 10.95 which is nice

We have been coming to Chili and spice for many years and have a regular take away on Friday evening. All dishes are excellent, friendly staff. Highly recommended. No complaints ever.Car park can be a bit tricky though!

We ate in the restaurant in December and thought it may be a 'one off' problem. This time had a takeaway....the restaurant is exceptionally clean and the staff are lovely but despite, on both occasions, asking for our food to be 'medium hot' it had no heat whatsoever. It was tasty but not even a bit of heat. It is very strange that even when asking it is not added - yet it was written on the takeaway packaging. My prawn sagwalls was otherwise lovely and their poppadoms are fab. A bit tight with the chicken in my husbands balti - only 4 pieces. I would go back and try once more.

We use this place for a takeaway regularly and are never disappointed. The fish bhuna is my favourite and we often invite friends over for a curry night in and they are also impressed. The staff are very friendly and always welcoming and always trying to get your order sorted quickly. We have eaten in once which was also delicious, they occasionally have an authentic night when they do specials that aren't always on the menu

Well that's my view anyway! You can tell that the chef knows what he's doing - the food is wonderfully spiced and the lamb just melts in your mouth.There's a great selection of dishes, with all the regulars covered as well as an extensive range of speciality dishes (including some made especially for customers).Everything is reasonably priced and the staff are attentive, but not annoyingly so. Would defintiely recommend this place to curry lovers everywhere!

i had my 50th birthday here, 30 peoplestaff helped us choose a menuevery one enjoyed. & the beer was reasonably priced the management even provided a cake it was an awesome night !!

Having not been here for a few years because of poor food we decided to give it another go. Big mistake all 4 curries were served luke warm as was the rice. Whilst being re-heated they ran out of gas so we had to wait even more. No apologies given or anything else. Definitely will not be going there again.

I have been here a couple of times now and each time I have been very impressed. On both occasions I have had a chicken madras and each time it has been delicious. The service is efficient and always with a smile. You are made to feel very welcome. I would recommend chilli n spice to anyone. Unfortunately I don't live nearer or I would be in a lot more.

If you like eating OK food under an arc lamp and then being hassled to get out before 11.00pm, this is a great place.

We go here on a Sunday normally and take our daughter. The service is always excellent and the food is the same. The set menu on a Sunday is fantastic value for money but i would suggest booking :)

We live in the village and have had a number of takeaways recently, the food has always been good quality and very tasty. This is disappointingly undermined by the fact they charge full restaurant prices for takeaways. Not even any free popadoms on large orders. Not good value compared to other local restaurants which have similar or even better food (e.g. Cinnamon Tree).

Chilli & Spice is a small local curry house in a quiet road miles from anywhere alive. Whenever we have visited we have been able to get a table without booking. We would usually have the full works, poppadums, starter, main course but due to tight timing this time we skipped the starter. the popadums come with a good selection of pickles & raita. Main courses are very good, with lots of meat - not like some curry houses where you get 4 tiny pieces of chickes and lots of sauce.Very tasty and very prompt service.

A group of 9 of us went here for a meal just before Christmas and the service was excellent, the food was of high quality and even though it was slightly overpriced it was worth it. They did forget one of our main courses but made up for it with a freshly cooked meal, extra rice and side orders plus free drinks.The service, atmosphere, and experience was a perfect evening with friends. Would definetly recommend.

Went with friends for a meal as this place was recommended. Personally I'm not keen on curries but friends are. Sadly I had a kebab which was extremely hot, and a grilled chicken main which wasn't overly tasty sadly. Shame really as staff were very friendly. Not great but friendly

What quality food. The curries are top notch and I would consider myself a curry 'snob' prices are good and the staff are brilliant. We always eat here and get our takeaways forms here too. Fresh, tasty, well presented and in a nice environment.

My wife is not keen on the indian restaurants in ashby so have always ventured to leicester to get our fix. That was before we discovered Chilli & Spice. It makes great tasting food, a little oily for my tastes but I ask them to drain it before packing it up for my take away! It's the only good indian around these parts that isn't a far drive away from ashby. Less oily and it'd be 5 stars.

Went with a party of 24 & did think service & food might suffer due to so many going. Nothing was compromised & we had a super night. Taking into account the quality & friendly service this restaurant has no realistic competitors for Indian food locally. Fab!

We have been to this restaurant about 4 times and decided we would take my son and his wife. The food was brilliant and the staff are amazing and really good value for money. Well done guys

Saturday night, we met with friends in a large group with our children. The staff were welcoming and looked after us, nothing was too much trouble. The children were allowed the freedom to chat and play together and we all enjoyed ourselves. They gave the little ones lolly pops after the meal. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Our friends recently treated us to a visit to this gem of a restaurant.The food was excellent with a great selection of very tasty and quite different Indian dishes.The food was cooked perfectly, the staff were wonderful and the prices are very good making it excellent value for money.I heartily recommend this restaurant, you'll not regret it.For me definitely one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten at, even when compared to those costing many times more.

we went to this restaurant saturday 27th april what can i say wow. we were greeted by one of the waiters at 6.30 when our table was booked he gave us a very warm reception as he showed us to our table. we were the first to arrive within the hour it was packed the food was excellent the atmosphere was great a fantastic time was had by all. we will definitely be returning very soon.

We are fortunate to have this restaurant on our doorstep if I didn't live close I would travel to eat here. The food is excellent, freshly cooked and good value and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We have eaten here many times and never been disappointed and the chef is more than willing to provide alternatives for people with allergies and intolerances to certain foods. The restaurant is small but that is a positive, the atmosphere is very good and the restaurant is very child friendly. Long may it stay here.

Fab little restaurant which we visited for the first time last night. We were greeted straight away with genuine smiles and seated almost immediately. The decor is really nice though on approach it did seem a tad sun bed blue sub lit but when inside didn't affect the atmosphere. We shared a mixed grill starter which was clearly freshly cooked with meat being tender and very well presented. I had a lamb dish while my with a fish and the waiter at point of ordering checked to see how hot we wanted it. Having lived in Leicester for many years we know a good curry and we were not let down here. My wife only criticism was that she could see the excess oil floating in the dish but other than that really great meal. Will definitely be going back in the future and a great venue to take friends when they come to stay.

We are very fortunate to have this restaurant on our doorstep but sadly i don't think we will be going again. A few days ago an envelope arrived through our letterbox with a Christmas card containing a £10 voucher, and after our meal tonight we were given another. Being honest we told the waiter that as we lived locally were lucky enough to already have one. He then immediately took it away saying he would have to ask the boss! The moral here is if you live in Swannington and are given another voucher say nothing as honesty is not the best policy here

We visited Chilli and Spice on our tour of Curry Houses in North West Leics. 7 of us enjoyed an excellent meal which was well presented, tasty, and grest value. Service was excellent too. My only critisism if Im being picky is the lighting which is more akin to a tanning salonGreat meal - highly recommended

We have eaten here for may years now, and cannot fault the service which is attentive. The food matches the service level and the portions are ample. The chef can accommodate the taste of any dish to suit, and prices are reasonable. I would definately recommend a visit.

Visited for the first time, (although it's been open for quite a few years), with some friends who'd been before and was pleasantly surprised at the attentive service, reasonable prices and excellent food with loads of choice. I would definitly go again from now on if I needed a local Indian restaurant meal and would recommend it to friends.
