Orissa in North West Leicestershire

The food was very good but very expensive 2 large coca colas £13…30 The place was clean but no heating was on, so itt was cold As I said food was nice but too expensive £80 for two of US, NOT A HAPPY TEDDY. I won't be going back

if i could rate this place higher i would, orissa is the best indian restaurant i have ever been to . The food is absolutely gorgeous and always exceeds expectations. The staff are very friendly and attentive and offer the best service you will find . I also order deliveries from orissa and the service and food is just as fresh and good as you were sat in the restaurant. i’ve also been in the kitchen a few times to meet the chefs and staff , and the kitchen is so clean and well set out , 5 star 🌟 through and through 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Bernie was the star of the show. He was Amazing! However, restaurant was very average. We booked a table for 7pm, but didn’t get our starters until 8:20pm, and mains 9:20pm. Never waited so long in any restaurant! 3 hours from start to finish! Staff were friendly. Chicken shashlik was great, but korma and balti were awful. Expensive for what it is and couldn’t believe the wait for food! Won’t be back, sorry.

Have been coming here for over a year , usually friendly and really can’t do enough. However on Saturday , we had booked our table and went in to log our car and this officious waiter was very curt and rude whilst we were doing this. He then marched us round to the back of the restaurant despite there being empty tables for two and we had booked. My husband remarked we have booked a table and weren’t here for a takeaway but the waiter was having none of it and continued being rude and somewhat aggressive. At this point we told him we would not bother and walked out , with the waiter still being very vocal at that point I told him that there was a time to stop talking and that was five minutes ago. We walked out very shocked but found a neighbouring restaurant who were polite and couldn’t do enough !

Poor service. Very slow. We didn’t have a starter and it took over an hour to get our main course. There was no apology or explanation for the delay. There were plenty of waiters who spent more time cleaning tables than catering to their customers. Food was well presented but nothing special liked we thought it would be according to their menu and other reviews. Overall very disappointed.

I can't say enough good things about Orissa. Most importantly the food was spectacular. The first thing I did when I got home was look for Rajasthani curry recipes after trying the one at Orissa. The presentation and atmosphere made the entire experience feel special. Everybody there seemed to love their job and took real pride in what they do. We will definitely be going here again.

Really loved everything about Orissa. All staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was incredible, atmosphere on point. I've always wanted to eat somewhere with fancy presentation and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be coming back!

Four of us went to this establishment on Saturday 27th January and as always the food was very good, however when we tried to settle the bill using Orissa gift vouchers as part payment we we're told that they could only accept one voucher and the others would have to be used at another time. We said this can't be right as you have already received payment for the vouchers so are in fact like cash. They weren't interested in our point but we stood firm and in the end they very reluctantly accepted the vouchers. This is the second time we have experienced a issue with their vouchers as before we were told that they are unable to reimburse any amount from a part used voucher we didn't spend. They need to realise that they have already been paid once for their vouchers so can't expect people to pay again!!

Excellent food. Great service. Think its a bit more expensive than the others in Castle Donington but I think well worth it. Will definitely return.

Our 3rd New years Eve visit. Food was bang on, and the service was excellent as always. Iittle bit of a wait on food but I don't mind as the food is brilliant every time.

Just wanted to say thank you to the Orissa staff for a fabulous take away last night. Superb service over the telephone,very helpful and obliging with the order. The food itself was amazing. Staff smart, friendly and professional. They had a busy night ahead being New Year, but seem unphased. Thank you again. Happy New Year

Really amazing place, this. After a quick Google, Orissa was the highest rated Indian Restaurant in Castle Donington and I can certainly say it lived up to the expectations. Everything from the service and the food itself to the actual atmosphere of the place was brilliant. Staff were also extremely polite and friendly. Highly recommend! 10/10

My friend and I went to Orissa for the first time this evening. We were greeted with friendly smiles and shown to our table. The staff were attentive and our food came out at a good time. The food itself… absolutely beautiful!! The flavour profiles in each dish were delicious and the presentation was gorgeous. The portions are really good sizes, we couldn’t finish our meals and bought the rest home with us. The price is good value and we’ll be definitely going back again. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Absolutely amazing! Went here with my family and friends for my birthday meal and everything was outstanding. From the service, the drink choice to the food, everything was spot on! We were staying at an airport hotel prior to traveling to Egypt the next day. We found this place on TripAdvisor and so glad we did. The restaurant decor is very modern and classy, the service was brilliant and the food, ALL OF IT, was amazing, both in taste and presentation, amazing. My wife has a dairy intolerance and the waiter made sure she didn't get anything she shouldn't. Even made her a separate naan without the butter. We all agreed it was the best Indian restaurant we had ever been too and we have been to a lot over the years. We would definitely recommend and will be going back next time we fly from the East Midlands Airport. Brilliant Place

Having been ignored by the staff at the Italian restaurant in the Castle pub opposite (5 minutes standing by the pizza oven area waiting to be acknowledged as a customer with lots of young staff ignoring me!), I walked across the road to the Orissa to be met by a charming Indian gentleman who immediately showed me to a table and eventually produced some superb food. Lovely setting, superb attentive service and gorgeous food

Sharing fish starter is delicious. In fact the whole meal was delicious. Been 3 times and it just keeps getting better!

I was highly impressed by the food, service and atmosphere of this restaurant! I definitely understand why it was named the best restaurant in England by the Food Awards England 2022!! Beautiful presentation and delicious food! A wonderful treat for the family! I really recommend the Goan King prawn curry - exceptional!

This food establishment has to be one of the best restaurants I have dined in, the food is to a very high standard, artwork on a plate and service was second to none. Top class dining experience.

Absolutely amazing food, staff very attentive. If you’re looking for a quick meal and to be in and out within an hour this is not the place for you. The food was coked fresh and the attention to detail is amazing. The atmosphere is really chilled with an emphasis on relaxing and enjoying the food. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again soon.

Modern, contemporary , food well presented but.... 1. On arrival asked to take a seat in bar area while they prepared a table. 2. Not offered a drink for 10 minutes then shown to table which was completely bare??! 3. My main course just tasted of salt, only ate a third of eat. Colleagues tandoori mixed grill was incredibly dry , left in tandoori oven too long. 4. Rice and poppodom and pickles were fine. 5. Although staff were friendly the service was slow and twice we had to ask for attention to get a drink having sat for 5 minutes with empty glasses. 6. Not restaurants fault but table of 5 next to us were loud and "f"ing loudly and ambience wasn't great in restaurant. Could be a nice restaurant , but needs attention to detail.

Excellent dining experience here last night, we went for a friend's birthday meal. They made it feel extra special. The staff were very friendly and attentive. the food was very tasty, beautiful flavours, food cooked very well and to top it off beautifully presented, you can tell they care about what they do. First time here, but definitely won't be our last, looking forward to the next visit, keep up the good work gents!

Had my first meal last night. Nice looking restaurant, seated in a booth. Didn’t like the way cutlery and plates were sort of thrown on the table and place settings not set. Staff were friendly. Massive wait between. Poppadom and starters… 8.30om although had been busy on arrival definitely less busy at this time. Food looked well presented and good portions. Sadly not anything special to other restaurants to say it was more expensive. Nothing special to entice me back.

From the moment we first arrived to the moment we left, this was a first class dining experience. The staff were polite, friendly and professional - nothing was too much trouble for them. A special mention to Reg who was our main waiter for the evening. Now to the food. What can I say , it is probably the best Indian cuisine I have tasted. Delicate , yet full of flavour. The menu has been well thought out , a great selection of dishes varying from the chefs own signature dishes to old school classics. To top the evening off we were treated to some magic tricks at our table courtesy of the Orrisa’s resident magician. We will definitely be back!!!

Upon visiting Orissa, we were welcomed by a friendly staff member who showed us to our table. When seated we were given menus and a drink order was promptly. The menu has a huge variety and great options. The food was out of this world. By far the best India we’ve ever been to. Staff were very attentive. Food was amazing, so tasty and fresh. Presentation was also great! Very reasonably priced and a lovely atmosphere. Look forward to another visit in the near future.

Me and my boyfriend recently visited castle donnington to get some pizza from dominoes (next door). Dominoes car park was packed full and had no where to park. Couldn’t park on the road as it was so busy. So decided to park in Orissa car park. Just received a parking fine for doing so today. Please advise on where else I could have parked without endangering myself and endangering my car.

Came for a birthday meal. Booked a few days in advance for 3 people. Shared poppadoms with a pickle tray, then had starters and mains each. Food came promptly and very warm. Everything was evenly portioned and very delicious. Staff were very helpful and polite. Took left overs home for a nice lunch tomorrow.

Exceptional food made to a very high standard, the service is very attentive and staff check on you regularly to see if you need any assistance, they also provide you great recommendations depending on your taste palate. If your looking for a top class Indian fine dining experience then look no further as Orissa is the place to be. I will be definitely returning to get another fix of their delicious cuisine. To confirm I've been back another several times since this review must have tried most of the starters and mains.

Absolutely delighted to find this wonderful restaurant. Seriously delicious food. We ordered a selection of dishes. Everything was fragrant super fresh hot and full of flavour. The meat was superb. We had lamb and chicken and king prawns. I highly recommend the honey chilli dish with lamb. Definitely will go back there. Nothing to compare to this in Oxford.

An absolutely wonderful meal, in a tastefully appointed establishment. This is now our yardstick to judge others by and our 'go to' restaurant.

Incredibly creative delicious cuisine with exceptional presentation and service. They strive to make certain the guest can actually taste all the fresh spices and other ingredients in the curries and not just overwhelm a dish with heat. It also received the award for best restaurant of the year in June 2022 for all of East Midlands!

Fine dining Indian style. Excellent food and service, can't wait to go again.

Went for dinner with colleagues, immaculate restaurant, friendly, helpful and funny waiting staff. Amazing presentation of the food, the best Indian meal I’ve ever had.

This was our second visit, both on a Thursday evening. The service is fantastic and the food is delicious! The decor is also lovely and both our visits have been fantastic. We will certainly be back.
