Had takeaway delivered to tunnel pods camping last night. The food was absolutely amazing all dishes. I had the chicken chilli garlic. Excellent Probably the best curry ever had. Top marks to the chef. Thank you.

We love this restaurant and have now been four times despite not living locally. It’s family run, the food is excellent across the board and it’s very pleasant to visit. Whilst the location is on an industrial estate just past the railway station ( next road down from there), once you’re inside it really doesn’t matter. The service is efficient and friendly and we will be back!

My friends and I ordered a takeaway meal. Chicken korma, chicken madras and a saag paneer. It was the worst Indian meal I have ever had. The mains consisted of chicken and sauce, not a single other vegetable. The saag paneer had lumps of paneer in it the size of 10p pieces. Really, really awful. Will not be using again.

Always amazing food, polite staff and lovely atmosphere. Perfect place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. Keep up the good work guys :-)

We are regular customers to Safar , Chris and daisy and there amazing team are always polite , helpful with answering our questions about the food , food is always at the highest standard , cleanliness is top of there list of priorities , you will not be seated at a dirty table , cleaned and polished meticulously after every sitting. This is Axminster’s secret and what an amazing place it is . You will not get better than this Safar is our golden hideaway for that lovely meal or snack at any time day or evening . Delicious food! Never ate such a great tasting Indian food before, better than I ate (several times) in London or in the Netherlands, where we come from. And also an excellent and friendly service! We would come here again if we are nearby! Thanks a lot to the staf of Safar for having such a great experience!

Website and menu says open for lunch but it isn’t. Did get to try the food which was a shame. If they aren’t open they should update their information.

Delicious food with excellent service. We visited the restaurant with a dinner booking. They made that in to an amazing experience. That was one of the best Indian food I have experienced in here UK. I would be thankful to the crew for that excellent treatment.

we went here TWICE in one week, the food is incredible and the service very friendly it always feels risky going to a new indian whilst on ‘holiday’ but after reading the reviews about this places food, we felt we should & we were not disappointed the mixed meat platter (pictured) as a starter looked and tasted wonderful! what we particularly enjoyed were the ‘chef specials’. for example, one of us had the southern indian korma and it was a delicious spin on the normal one, as was the southern indian butter chickenthe king prawns in the king prawn tikka were HUGE. i’d recommend the chicken tikka dansak (i was weak and had it mild haha!). the portions of rice and naan are also very well priced and generousall in all, a wonderful place for an indian!

We have been staying in the area on holiday and fancied a takeaway one evening. We were a little apprehensive about ordering a curry from somewhere we didn’t know but we were so pleasantly surprised. Our food was absolutely delicious- it was one of the best curries we’ve ever eaten!

I recently came up to safar with my family and the hosts could not to enough for us. The food was cooked freshly and absolutely delicious. Could not recommend more.

Been here a few times now and I can honestly say it’s the best Indian in the area. The staff are friendly, welcoming and the food is second to none. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Visited with 10 people and the meal was amazing, staying at Andrewshayes holiday park so it was a night off site for us all and wasn’t disappointed, would definitely recommend this Indian restaurant.

1hour 40mins wait and still no food!! Placed an order at 16:50 was still waiting at 18:30, 35 minutes after the expected delivery time. Can't get through on the phones don't take incoming calls. Had to go down to cancel the order as we were too hungry to wait any longer. Had to go to Chinese instead. Won't be going back here again. Cinnamons all the way! Much better service they actually deliver their orders!

Good good, had a long wait for food but takeaway orders seemed to take priority as a phone in background kept shouting message of new order, plus people were collecting via the restaurant which we found most disturbing

Delivery service is unacceptable. Firstly the website would not accept my order so had to phone in the order and pay 10% more. Ordered a takeaway at 1815 and told delivery would be between 1hr and 1hr 10 mins. After an hour and a half no food had arrived. Rang and enquired where the food was and was told it left 20 mins ago, at 1925, the latest time they promised it would arrive. It is only a 15 min drive. After another phone call it arrived at 2015 and after 50 mins on the road the food was cold and spoilt. The same happened a couple of years ago but we thought gave them a second chance! Never again. Restaurant may be ok food might also be ok it it doesn’t tKe 50mins to get to you but DONT USE THE DELIVERY SERVICE!

The most beautiful authentic food. We travel from Lyme Regis to visit this welcoming restaurant, always treated with a warm smile, fabulous service and the food is out of this word! Definitely recommend in a heartbeat. Thanks Safar, see you next time!

Booked online after reading reviews. Booking confirmed promptly. On arrival we were slightly concerned at the location of the restaurant but needn’t have worried as both food and service were very good. Both my curry and my wife’s were excellent along with the Nan breads and at a very reasonable price. There we a couple of things we didn’t like which were the mixed starters for two which was a number of items chopped up and served with salad and the accompanied raita was gloopy and sweet.If in the area again we will definitely go back but order different starters

After visiting with the parents for their buffet night, we all walked away feeling very satisfied and full. The food was excellent with varying levels of spice to suite all members of the family. Staff were extremely friendly and took every effort to ensure we had a good evening.Highly recommended!

Visited Safar had the all you can eat buffet was very tasty and more than enough to choose from left full and happy . Nothing was to much for Chris and his team very well done to you all !!! We will be back again .

We came on Sunday for their buffet, the food was of great variety, tender chicken and great sides! They even gave us free ice cream at the end! Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff are very friendly! Excellent service for the 4th time! Would Definetly recommend. Never had any issues with any of their restaurant or takeaway dishes- all lovely!

Unfortunately we didn’t find this visit as good as previous experiences, the food still tool a long time to arrive and when it did it was Luke warm we weren’t about to send it back because we were all very hungry by then. On previous 3 visits we were brought appetisers to kill time until the meal arrived but this time, nothing. Don’t think we will be visiting again.

We went to Safar this evening and experienced what we could only describe as the best food at any Indian restaurant we have ever eaten. Absolutely amazing the food was exceptionally fresh and full of flavours. Service is also above expectations.

Usually we are very pleased with our meals from Safar but on this occasion we had a meal and wondered whether the chef had changed. The dishes were insipid-lacked flavour and most unusual we had to add salt.Usually we have plenty of food for the next day but we decided to dispose as we really did not enjoy it.£50 wasted on this occasion.Delivery was quick and we always appreciate the service.

Fabulous Saturday lunchtime treat collected from Safar today. Tikka Dhansak was excellent - perfect balance of hot, sweet & sour with lovely thick sauce. Chicken Karahi was also extremely tasty with lots of onions & peppers. Bombay Aloo is always a must - I have no idea how Team Safar manage to make this dish so flavoursome!Just one more thing to say to Chris, Daisy & the Team...........please keep on doing what you do best and DON'T change a thing Looking forward to our next meal already

We just want to say a big thank you for the team for our delicious dinner. First time we tried your Karahi dish and we can recommend it to everyone. It isn’t hot and I wouldn’t call it medium either but it wasn’t a bad thing it was nice to taste the spices. Thoroughly enjoyed it. During the present lockdown the delivery service for takeaways provided by Safar has been consistently good. The food arrives either spot on the time given, or a few minutes early, it is cooked to their usual high standard and it is hot - how they achieve this in the current cold spell is amazing, but every week that we have had food delivered it could not be hotter if we had been sitting in the restaurant!The menu is varied and full accurate explanations given for each type of dish and the pricing is really competitive.If you haven't ordered a takeaway from here before I recommend that you give them a try - you will not be disappointed.....The delivery staff are pleasant and courteous and mostly observe the current standards for delivering the food, though there has been the odd occasion when it has been handed over instead of being left on the doorstep, the only criticism that I can offer.

Another delicious Safar take away, a real treat which keeps us going during these surreal times. Piping hot food and so very tasty plus great portion sizes. We all need to support this local family business so that we can look forward to eating in the restaurant when all this is over! Had a big order delivered, it was all perfect. All the different meals tasted different as they should have unlike some curry restaurants. Arrived when stated. Eaten in restaurant before but this was our first home delivery and will use again.Thank you so much.

We decided to have a treat New Years Eve, so logged into the online ordering as they opened at 5pm, I placed the order (set meal for 2) for delivery, and it said 55 minutes, perfect timing for us........ At 7pm I rang and asked when our meal would be with us, I was told another 20 minutes ..... at 8.20pm (after trying for more than 10 minutes) I got through again and was again told another 20 minutes, rather than wait for delivery I informed them I would be there in 20 minutes to collect, and I still had to wait another 15 minutes before we finally had our food.The food was mostly good, Lamb tikka very tough and we only received 1 rice, but I was too tired and hungry to complain ....

One of the best Indian meals we have had the pleasure in experiencing in recent times. Food was great, well thought out, presented well and extremely tasteful to the palate. Service exceptional. Quirky building situated within an industrial estate. Clearly popular with the locals.

We love to eat at Safar, the service is excellent and the menu is so varied with all the different styles of cooking. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for drinks and the food, we always take our relatives and visitors to this restaraunt and we have always enjoyed the friendly atmosphere with great attention to providing a perfect dining experience.

We had order from Safar so many times it’s has absolutely perfect never had let us down but on a busy night like Friday and Saturday you better place your order earlier that Waitting for the last minute as there’s very busy times always I would recommend to all Indian lovers

We ordered a takeaway from here whilst staying at the Hawkchurch Spa Resort. Staff were pleasant on the phone, delivery driver was fine.Food was average. Normal sized portions however lacking some lamb in the Rogan Josh.We also ordered the Tandoori Jhinga starter - beware, only 2 small prawns arrived and we paid £6 - not happy with that.

Still waiting for our food over 2 1/2 hours later after calling If you want to be lied to about the food being delivered when it hasn’t even left the kitchen, and the owner talking over you when you are ringing for the 3rd time about the delivery, then go ahead. The customer service here is right up there with Fred West’s babysitting skills & Harold Shipmans bedside manner !! Keep up the good work

Had a takeaway delivered to a property 5 mins away when it got there there were a mall portions of meat an prawns in the dishes the curry sauces were congealed they were so cold the bag if poppadoms broke to pieces I reheated in an attempt to in joy my meal to find it was tasteless an quited frankly disgusting when we rang back to speak about this we were told to come down there with the food in which we did to be shouted at an spoke to like we were stupid an it was or fault we asked for refund so the owner the decided to take out the prawns one by one out the curry to count them an make sure we hadn't had any he then gave us a refund of half the amount even though we returned the food within five minutes of reciveing it only to be yelled at an told to go to cinnamoms which believe me in future I will be an I suggest you do same as I will be making sure everyone I know does not use this curry house

Ordered food at 6 o'clock online to see an online timer to saying it would be 50 minutes. 2 hours after ordering we're still waiting. We've made a phone call and have been told "sorry, we're waiting for a driver". That's all we could get out of them. So are we lead to believe that our food has been sat there for an hour just going cold??? I don't care how nice the food might be when it eventually arrives. I'm staving and clearly the staff don't care as they already have our money.

Just back from dinner at the Safar. Very tasty food - the Chicken Tikka Biryani and Lamb Bhuna were really good, even the Naan bread was delicious! Everything was fresh and well cooked. Add to this generous portions, good service, and reasonable prices. A great meal!

My partner and I booked in last minute, we was greeted by friendly staff who we’re attentive and couldn’t do more for us! We liked the sound of the shared platter but don’t eat fish, staff catered for our needs and altered to suit. The curry itself was perfect, full of flavour! Overall I can’t fault our experience here, the food is reasonably priced. We aren’t local but will 100% stop by again when visiting the area.

Ordered a delivery at 18.00pm and still waiting at 22.00pm. Terrible.. When order did arrive after 22.00pm the meal was cold, curry had no taste.. very disappointed!! £40.00 that I might as well of thrown down the drain!!

From the moment I walked in I knew this was going to be good, such great greeting and still not half way through our meal, we have already had an pleasant welcome to our evening and then the starter came out which was amazing,tantalising full of wonderful well cooked flavours, a perfect Shared platter which we will be ordering again. Whilst enjoying our starters it was so nice hearing other guests complementing the flavours from there dishes. People were greeted, customers were cared for beyond words to discribe. I am yet to delve into our mains as what we have already experienced so far i am so excited to taste the rest. Believe me its hard to find 100% perfection and nothing to criticize but this is one of the best food I have tasted in a long time well done to all of the safar team and well done to the owner that owns such a wonderful place x

I ordered tonight at 20:26, spoke to a female, who called me a Sir, eventhough it was obvious by my voice i am an young female. She advise me of 30-40minutes wait for the order. As she wasnt sure of the area, she passed her manager on to take the address, which was 1.1 miles away.By 9:30 i got worried, so i phoned the restaurant for an update. I was assured, the food will be with me in next 10minutes. I gave it another 20minutes,so they dont feel under pressure. At 9:50pm (nearly 1 hour and half from placing the order) the phone was engaged. 3 more attempts, no luck. By then my daughter was really hungry and tired, so i put her in her pyjamas into the car and decided to collect it myself. We reached the restaurant in less then 5mins using satnav, as we are not local. Only then i received a phone call from a delivery person that she is nearby my address, but not sure where about. Eventually she brought the order back to the restaurant car park, where i received it nearly cold. I would NOT recommend this restaurant for a take away service at all, as they havent got reliable delivery service if any, and are not reliable when it comes to time keeping of order delivery.

This evening, we placed a mega order of curries for 14 of us staying together on holiday in Southleigh. Very impressed with the delivery speed, quality of food and the kindness of the complimentary bottle of wine. Would definitely order again if we were in the area. Thanks for the great takeaway!

I ordered a takeaway at 7.20pm it did not arrive until 9.40pm i phoned them to say i wasn’t happy with how late my delivery was and I got told from the manager that i should be greatful that they deliver to where I live!? the manager told me that he’s banning me from ordering food again due to me not being greatful of there service. I have ordered a few times from them before and deliveries you expect to be a bit late but not way over an hour. I was very polite to the manager and just explained it was not our problem they was running late and I didn’t think it was exceptable for it to be this late. I think it’s an absolute disgrace I was spoken to in this way and a simple apology would of been nice. I can’t actually believe the service I received this evening very disappointing!!!!!!!!

I was introduced to Indian food 40 years ago and have enjoyed or otherwise many meals in many towns.So how lucky am I to find the best curry I have eaten just 5 minutes from my home. Lots of chicken in my Vindaloo, delicious sauce, Rice fluffy and fragrant, Paratha fantastic. Onion Bhajees just as they should be. I collected my takeaways and received a discount and free popadoms. Today's was my 4th meal from this brilliant restaurant and they have all been just as good. It's the best curry in this town and as I have already said, I have never tasted better anywhere ever..

Our food was over 30 minutes late and was only Luke warm! We had ordered several curries to feed 6 adults. All the curries looked the exactly the same and tasted much the same. Food was pretty tasteless and some hot curries were not spicy just a bit hotter? Very poor quality food and quite expensive. Will not be using again.

Read some great reviews about Safar on FB and TA ,had to try for ourselves. Well what service ,12 miles away but got food piping hot in under 45 mins. Huge portions ,great menu but importantly great tasting food. Spent over £25 so got a free bottle of lager , poppadoms ,salads. Will definitely use again , probably for a sit down meal.

A small, quirky restaurant, simply and beautifully decorated. Service was welcoming and friendly. Great selection of food, all well cooked, spicey but not too hot. What we could not finish, they wrapped for us to take away. Will definitely go back.

Im a white British Muslim and i have travelled the world experiencing many quisines. I I I love talies my favourite but the Safar restaurant has exceeded all my expectationes in culindry taste All i can say is magnifico . Im sadley leaving this area and will miss greatly this superb retaurant i have even thought of kidnapping the chef, in order that i can enjoy some of the best indian food i have ever tasted. excuse my writing as i am dislexic. Ordered takeaway and it arrived within half an hour. Food was piping hot and loads of it. Was really delicious.

We treated ourselves to a collected takeaway, which was ready 45 minutes after ordering. Lovely food (hot really does mean hot!), fresh poppadoms, a complementary beer - we enjoyed all of it.They’ve put up a table and chair barrier to enforce a 2m gap, and contactless payment made this a comfortable experience.

Should not tell everyone as we dont like crowds however chris the owner deserves great reviews food and hosts outstanding keep up the good work.

Had a superb meal here - it is a little hidden away in an industrial estate but looks nice as you enter. It was a very quiet evening mid-week and the service and the food were both excellent.It was my partners birthday and unbidden they presented a lovely birthday cake after our meal which topped off a lovely evening - thank you!

We came here on Saturday night with my auntie and uncle who recommended you to us as we are not from this area, we were so grateful for the complementary Indian nibbles, the curry was excellent the best vegetable balti I’ve ever had and everyone else’s curry’s were just as good, the portions were very big and well presented and very tasty, a big thank you for my surprise birthday cake after the meal, all these extra touches go a long way, the service was excellent and friendly, next time we are visiting the area we will definitely return to pay a visit. I would not normally take to Trip Advisor, but felt compelled to leave this positive review after taking my family to Safar. From the moment we arrived Chris and Daisy made us all extremely welcome and showed us to our table with clean crisp white table linen and fresh flowers..!To also give an indication of it’s reputation, we did not expect a full house on a Wednesday.With first impressions already great, I have to say the eating experience was exceptional and second to none and a real credit to this little hidden gem.Thank you and see you again soon...!

We were a party of 7 celebrating a birthday on Valentine's Day - the restaurant and tables looked fabulous with fairylights, red roses, balloons and hearts & petals scattered on the tables.

My partner and I visited here for an evening meal, knowing the food was going to be good as I’ve eaten here before, but this meal was by far the best experience of Indian food I’ve ever had yet, the food was absolutely amazing, best customer service from the owner Chris, food came out in good time, and it was so good i even got a takeaway as well, worth more than 5 stars by far,

Another lovely meal ..... I had a mixed Breyani which was tasty and well cooked. My partner had the prawn Korma and that was lovely too. The service is exceptional and I will be back. Highly recommended

Great location firstly as there is loads of parking. Very nice atmosphere and decor. Best of all food is top notch. Not too bad prices as you get good size portions ...enough to take some home.... which was no problem to them at all.

We ordered a meal which we collected. It was first class. Every dish was good and as described on the menu. We all enjoyed it. My Lamb Maharajah was particularly good, really hot and really tasty.

A quick lunch that I strongly feel was one of the best curries I have had in a long time.the garlic nan was perfect, the boiled rice was light and fluffy and the chicken ceylon curry was excellent. Very nice welcome and service, the restaurant looked newly decorated. The surroundings were a bit odd (it is in an industrial area) but don't be put off, make the effort to look them up you won't be disappointed.

Really tried to give these guys a chance but they continue to dissapoint.

Whilst in Axminster for a couple of nights with work i fancied an indian meal. Boy did i choose the right place. Quite an intimate place i was a lone diner with two other large parties in at the time. My service didn’t suffer because of the two large parties.

Our first visit with friends who live locally and had recommended, and we were not disappointed even if the service was a little on the slow side

Ordered a meal for delivery and well over an hour later, and later than advised I had to chase delivery. I was told it was leaving now, of course, and nearly 30 minutes later when I was contemplating asking for a refund it arrived. I got no apology at time of calling or time of delivery but my 'free bottle of wine' for an order of over £25 was actually a bottle of cobra beer!!!! Wow.....will never order from here again.

Another great meal at Safar restaurant with my family. To begin with the restaurant is spotless which is a must for me and it's the first thing I look at in a place for eating. The food is delisous, evey meal we ordered looks and tastes wonderful, the chef takes pride in his cooking and presentation. The owner is so attentive but never intrusive, he is especially generous with children. This restaurant deserves to do well, you will not be disappointed beleive me.

I’m sorry but this is the worst Indian food I’ve ever had! The chicken tikka in the meals was just like plain chicken-bland and tasteless. My 2 boys love chicken tikka masala, and eat it anywhere, even with all the variations on colour and taste, but would’t eat it from here. Really not sure how this place has for such great reviews?

I ate here with my elderly mum and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. She has eaten there with others family members but this was my first visit. The owner and his wife were very welcoming and our order was quickly taken and drinks served. We shared a delicious mixed tandoori starter and followed it with a delicious Murgh Tikka Makhani and Keema rice. The whole experience was lovely. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Six of us visited Safar on a Friday night. We did book and they were great when we rang to say we would be delayed due to the weather. A first visit on recommendation of a friend. Great little restaurant with really nice staff and the food was delicious. Probably the best Indian I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely return.

Excellent food and service, with plenty of choice for vegetarians and gluten free. Don’t let the unlikely location on an industrial estate put you off. Also does takeaways. Best Indian meal I have ever had, and reasonably priced.

Food came out with a skin over the curry, so it looked like it had been left a while. Curries tasted nice but very little spice
