Felt very welcoming on entering. Shown to our table promptly. Given plenty of time to discuss and order our food. Food delicious, and served hot. Very good portion sizes and didn’t feel rushed to finish the courses. Can bring your own bottles or cans of drinks. Do supply drinks if required. Plenty of time to relax and chat after our meal before we paid the bill, at no point felt rushed. Spoke to the owner afterwards, states all food made fresh to order on the night and if you struggle to finish your meal, any left overs can be taken with you. An overall really lovely experience. Cash or cards welcome. Take away available.

We have been using this place since it opened, but saddly it has gone downhill, largely due to a lazy attitude of cooking as much as possible in advance and re-heating to order. Last night we had one chicken and one lamb tika, usually cooked to order in a tandoori oven. Both dishes were clearly pre-cooked and refrigerated, then reheated in a frying pan (?) resulting in tough, over-cooked meat that was coated in oil, all on a bed of soggy limp onion slices. To cap it all, they haggled over the discount (15% when collected) and tried to charge for mint sauce, after telling me on the phone 'tika comes with.' £30 I will never get back; sorry guys, but we have to work very hard for our money these days, and cannot afford to waste it on hugely disapointing meals like this. We eat indian once a week bit will not be returning here.

Best Indian food in Exmouth - Friendly and attentive staff. Bring your own beer and tasty curries. Would definitely go again. Could do with less harsh lighting and warm coloured walls for a nicer ambience.

Had an excellent meal tonight, the food was exceptional as well as the service, could not fault. Highly recommend this restaurant. Had chicken Chaat for starters was amazing then chicken korma and chicken bhuna and the naan bread was the best we have ever had.

4 of us hada meal here on Wednesday evening. The service and food was excellent, good portions, tasty - perfect. We brought our own wine as they don't have a licence and it worked well. We will return - thank you

I visited the Indian restaurant recently, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. The food lacked authentic flavors, and the service was slow. The ambiance felt dated, making it an overall disappointing dining experience.

the food was horrendous 10 minutes after consuming the meal i had extreme burning diareah and had food poisoning it was disgusting the flavour was bland. NOT A AUTHENTIC INDIAN RESTAURANT!

Really enjoyed the food but please be aware that if you choose their 3 course menu rice is counted as one of the courses - so extra to pay for a sweet. Also charged over £7 extra for 4 popadoms.

What a find , we lived in the Midlands for many years and we were very lucky to have plenty of good Indian restaurants, on moving to Devon we struggled to find a decent restaurant, Curry Cottage is the best place we have found for flavour, portion size, real value for money and now you can take your own booze!!! We are always greeted with a warm welcome. So if you're looking for a great restaurant look no further.

A good evening with delicious food served by friendly staff. Highly recommended, we will be back. Being allowed to bring your own wine not only added to the meal but was a considerable saving from having to purchase it in a restaurant with an alcohol license.

As we are new to the area we have been trying out a number of restaurants and have to say this is certainly one not to be missed. The solo member of staff who took our order was so welcoming and friendly. We ordered starters and mains which were both generous in portion and delicious, even having to take a 'doggy bag' home. They do not serve alcohol here so do take your own. We will definitely be back.

So impressed with this restaurant! The food was fantastic. We had papadums which were light and crisp, with delicious dips. We then had king prawn pathia, balti chicken tikka masala, pilau rice, brinjal bhaji, onion bhaji and garlic naan. All the food was superb, the king prawn dish was so good, with a light fresh sauce, and the chicken was delicious. All the accompanying side dishes were great too … lovely light naan bread with just the right amount of garlic and the brinjal (aubergine) bhaji was perfect. The service was excellent, really friendly staff and a nice ambiance in the restaurant. Will definitely be back very soon!

Our first visit to this restaurant for a birthday meal. Was told when we booked that we could take our own alcohol but soft drinks were available to buy. The restaurant is modern with a nice, relaxed ambience. Our waiter was the perfect host. The food was served promptly and piping hot. Everything was delicious. Vast menu. Please do try. The food is amazing.

We have eaten here three times now and each time the food has been very good. The latest visit was excellent, good service and really wonderful food. The lamb madras curry was the best I have tasted in a while, properly spicy hot with lots of soft lamb chunks. The garlic naan actually tasted of garlic, the saag naan was a joy to eat. My wife commented on how tasty the chicken green masala was compared to other recent ones at other establishments. Well worth a visit if you want a truly tasty Indian meal. Another advantage is the owner recommends taking your own alcohol, a huge saving.

We put in a huge order for 14 people on a busy Saturday night, it was ready quickly and every single dish was absolutely delicious, large portions and freshly made. The gentlemen at the restaurant were incredibly kind and had such a friendly and caring atmosphere.will definitely be returning as a very happy customer

This was my second visit and will definitely not be my last! This is an excellent restaurant, nicely decorated with "real" table cloths - often difficult to find. The welcome is very friendly, as is the service. At present, they are not licensed and offer a variety of non-alcoholic drinks. However, they permit you to bring your own wine or beer and do not charge an extra fee (I do give them a cash tip for this!). Their menu is extensive and everything is freshly cooked and very well spiced. Prices are really quite reasonable, the portions are generous and they are very happy for you to take away what you cannot eat and pack in standard microwaveable containers. This restaurant is definitely in my top 10!

I’m writing this for my brother who lives in Exmouth but does not have the internet. He visited here a few weeks ago and said it was brilliant food, price and service. Great experience, the best korma he had ever tasted.

I went there this evening today, the restaurant is so clean and staff are so nice, friendly (service mind 100%) I really like this place, the food are so delicious I will visit there again for sure, love ❤️

Had to Google research to find a decent curry house, this came up trumps. The food was tasty and biggest portions we've had in a long time. Service was great and by the time the poppadoms were finished our food was served. Restaurant has no drinks licence but the owners had no problem with us bringing a bottle, even opening and serving it for us. We all really enjoyed the Curry Cottage. Worth a visit.

Absolutely amazing!!! The food was delicious and not at all greasy, it was fresh, tasty and ‘clean’. The portion sizes were very generous too! The service was second to none and an absolute joy of a place to spend an evening. Despite it was busy, service was timed just right and we weren’t left hanging around or rushed at all. One thing to note is that they do not sell alcoholic drinks, not that that’s a major issue, however I think that they do allow you to bring your own along - although I would check that when booking! Pricing was spot on for an Indian restaurant with us eating a generous main with popadoms and a drink each for around £20pp. We shall 100% be back! In my opinion, best curry in Exmouth!

Tried the Wednesday 3 course deal for £15.95, including a soft drink. Anything on the extremely diverse menu, except king prawn dishes. Didn't ask if these were available for an extra charge as there were already so many choices (had a prawn madras though as main, a couple of £s cheaper than king prawn). Excellent quality food and generous portions. The 3 courses are starter, main and side (I was thinking one would be dessert but there were non available). Strongly recommended to eat in or order take-away. Will be going again!

Well . . apprehensive at first as no alcohol served or allowed on the premises. . . but a range of non-alcoholic beers, ciders and wine. Food and service excellent, wide range of dishes - reasonably priced.

We've had a couple of deliveries from Curry Cottage and the food has been good. This week we put a big order in and one of the dishes had several sharp plastic pieces in it. I've emailed and also sent a message via social media just explaining what I found including images just to warn them about this happening again but I've received no reply from them which is a little disappointing.

Indian Mixed grill was very Bad..Meat was not fresh and was rubbery.

Excellent flavours for a very good price. We had a takeaway after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. Can't wait to order our next meal.

One of the best Indian takeaway I've ever had. As a Brummie I've had a few but can't fault it. The flavours were superb and I'm guessing closer to the original rather than our English version! Portion size very generous and overall excellent value. Will definitely be back to work my way through the extensive menu. Would I eat in - probably not as the restaurant doesn't have much atmosphere and is very bright. But for service and quality of food. Excellent!

This was the worst curry I have ever tasted. We had takeaway chicken sag balti which was awful, about the only thing we could stomach was the rice. Never again 😒

Very disappointed ordered a takeaway for 1900 at 1800hrs but didn’t receive it until 19.20 even though a college ordered his at the same time and got it at 18.55 had to pay taxi extra for waiting

Decided to visit this restaurant last night as had seen many very positive reviews. My partner got a chicken and lamb Bhuna which he said was very good. However for a night out it was very disappointing as they do not sell alcohol. Having a drink with a curry is all part of dining out experience for us. Additionally, looking at the alcohol free drinks menu I was going to resort to ordering a sparkling water but this was more expensive than the fizzy drinks and the alcohol free beer! so not ideal. I wanted a vegetarian meal and the choice here was minimal when I asked the waiter he suggested I select a side dish as my main - not ideal. I ordered the vegetable curry which had a hot option but what I received was not at all hot - not a chilli in sight. This was partly my fault as I didn't emphasise what I wanted but equally the waiter never asked for clarification. On a positive note the onion Bhaji were delicious. I won't eat in this restaurant again next time it will be an order from their takeaway menu.

Just had the most amazing curry .Jay the host was excellent and helpfull .lovely clean place and a,welcome for exmouth .enjoy you won't be disappointed unless you would like a beer .no alcohol only zero beers and coke .but hey still amazing

So I finally got round to trying the curry cottage in exmouth. WOW WOW WOW. Honestly I’m speechless. The flavours and spices are the best I’ve ever had. The onion bhaji was out of this world. The chicken that was used was 100% fresh and not frozen. The rices was beautiful. The best curry I’ve EVER had. I’m excited for my next one! I even think I may come into the restaurant to eat next time. Thank you so so much.

Exmouth has an ace Indian Restaurant again 😁 Beautiful tasty food, you can taste the individual spices rather than a plain bland sauce, just what I needed after a 300 mile drive from Yorkshire. Will I be ordering again? You bet I will :-)

Having been a frequent customer of Indian Ocean previously we thought we would try Curry Cottage. The food was great. Nice amount of meat and it was good quality pieces. Nice tasting sauce. Glad to see they’ve gone with the white mint sauce and skinny chips now like days of old. Overall very happy with the food. And 15% off too. Only issue we had was one of our main dishes wasn’t in the bag on delivery. We called up to explain it was missing, and instead of being apologised to, the first thing they said was, you didn’t order it, you didn’t pay for it, both of which were wrong. That was disappointing. However. The big boss man decided to drive the dish to us himself and apologise which was a top class response so can’t complain in the end.
