Ordered a house special comprising a tasty spinach curry and a delicious mushroom curry 🥰 Together with the pilau rice and the largest naan bread I have ever seen, it was more than I could eat but my family happily shared it 😊 Impressed by the staff who made us feel welcome even though we were the last people in the restaurant and didn't try to hurry us up. They were happy for me to bring in my own reusable cup and didn't enquire as to the contents. The decor was very tasteful with lights that changed colour which had quite a relaxing effect.

We popped in early friday evening for a meal. The place was quite busy which was a good sign. No license so bring your own beer etc which is fine. Service was excellent, food amazing. We had a fantastic meal and one of the best curries i've had in a long while. And as far as value for money goes, this was unbelievable, really good value. We will definitely be returning when next in the area.

My Brother and His Wife and the two dogs have come over from Germany to stay with us for a couple of weeks. Today after a hard day in the garden we got finished around six o' clock we decided we would go out for something to eat. As our Kids wife is now addicted to curries She came up with the question "Where are we going for a curry?" so we decided to try somewhere we had not been before and after a bit if Googling we came up with "Eastern Spice" at Cleckheaton. After a good hosing down some shower gel and shampoo we turned up at Eastern Spice, we hadn't booked but we had phoned and told them there would be four of us coming down after the scrub down. A nice polite chap came to us and showed us to a table and he organised a couple of pint glasses for the beer we brought with us. After studying the menu we decided on 4 Poppadum's with pickles and then a mixture of Onion Bhaji's, Shami Kebabs, Seekh kebabs as starters. Then for the mains we had 2 Keema Vindaloo's. 1 Keema Madras and a Chicken Bhuna and Chapatti's and boiled rice. The whole lot for four of us cost a shade over Fifty Six Quid "What a good do!" On to the food ............ Poppadum's were nice, crisp and dry (no fat), perfect! The Pickle tray only had three items but they were great. So to the Starters Shami Kebabs were lovely, Seekh Kebabs were equally very tasty and the Onion Bhaji's Perfect (wifes choice of words) Now the mains, Myself and My Sister in Law opted for the Keema Vindaloo ( I warned Her it was Sharf, did I mention She was German, but yes She was quite happy to try it anyway) She was absolutely thrilled with it ( I told you She was a Curry convert) My Mrs had the Chicken Bhuna and said it was as good as She had tasted anywhere. Brother had a Keema Madras (lightweight) but absolutely loved it. The Place, very nice, excellent airy dining area with plenty of natural light and a very pleasant place to dine with great décor. Our waiter was polite, well tuned out and very helpful, so in all a good dining experience and the general consensus we will have to pay another visit before Bro and Sis in Law return to Germany.

Quite surprised really very busy Saturday night with three large tables of 10 or more on each plus smaller parties great atmosphere the food was good very warm served on hot plates which is what we like we had fish pakora and onion bhaji to start portion on the small side but enjoyable followed by chicken masala and karahi murgh lemon rice and yes 3 chapati each no extra cost portion could have been better very tasty prices very reasonable

I can't believe the negative reviews I think they must be reviewing some where else. We think the food is always good here and yes half the family are indian and when we ask for traditional we get traditional and its always spicy and very tasty. Most important its very reasonable and the staff are always plesent, but this restaurant is very popular and some times they are rushed off there feet.

I don't even k now where to start with this one... the food wasn't just bad, it was weird. For instance, I ordered a Tarka Dhal, a dish I cook myself at home and yes it is always slightly different restaurant to restaurant, but it's a dish that you can't really mess up. The bowl of slop that arrived was not Tarka Dhal, it was a foul tasting non-descriptive slop. All other dishes were bland and completely tasteless. Oh, and I had terrible stomach cramps and and Delhi Belly the next morning, though wasn't surprised after this food.

We live locally to this curry house and visit when we are looking for a good quality but low fuss and cost Curry experience. As it doesn’t have a licence we usually head for a few jars elsewhere first and just have water with our meal. We usually get a couple of poppadoms to start and a saucy curry each with chapatis, which a good quality and come in the price of most dishes. This means the cost is the full meal is generally under £20. The restaurant is spacious and not often too full, but does seem to have a steady take away trade - you never have to wait too long though. Keep up the great work!

We came based on the reviews we read, but the restraint was very tightly arranged with chairs knocking into each other. The poppadoms were nice and crispy but the dips very ordinary. Our biggest disappointment was the biryani - no flavour or spice and the curry sauce that came with it tasted like oxo cubes. Fortunately, it was separate. The other main was bland and difficult to find any flavour let alone spice. Reading the other reviews we must have had a bad deal, but won't be going back.

Called in this evening. The restaurant was very busy and was told would be a 25 minute for a table or 20 mins for a takeout. We were happy to wait and seated in the allotted time. However it went downhill from here. The table hadn't been set up and this appeared that we had eaten. A family of 4 day down minutes after us and were promptly served and we thought we would be next. But NO!. We decide to give it another 10 minutes and when this family then received their second pickle tray and were having their order taskbar decided enough was enough. After being completely ignored and not even offered a bottle of water we walked out!

My partner and I love a curry (well, more me than her!). I've struggled to find a really good Indian takeaway but we finally found it when we received a flyer in the post box! Their delivery was fast, the food was hot and fresh and good portions. And the taste of each individual dish was amazing - each had a different taste unlike a lot of takeaways where you can tell they tend to use the same sauce for pretty much every dish!! Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last night (and we weren't even hung over - when everything seems to taste good! haha). Absolutely delicious food. Not giving full rating as there's always room to improve for anybody! Thanks guys! We look forward to our next take away or even a visit to the restaurant!

We brought the daughter and grandson here for a late tea, grandson’s a bit picky with this type of food but usually does ok with poppadoms and Nan breads. Only my wife and I had starters and I must say the lamb chops were way below their usual standard and tasted really old. I had a vindaloo and was too tomato ish for me was spicy though with quite a bit of chicken although really tiny pieces. My wife’s Keema mushroom was ok but a bit sweet she said. Daughter seemed to enjoy her korma as she never said any different. This used to be 1 of our favourite restaurants but not sure whether they’ve changed chefs or what but no where near as nice as it used to be. Very disappointed but will probably keep trying just not as often as we used to

We tried the restaurant as our usual hang outs were shut. The restaurant was practically empty with 2 tables already taken but we had to take a seat and wait for 5 minutes before we could be taken to our table. There was only 1 waiter in the restaurant and he didnt look like he wanted to be there at all. The menu states that different dishes can be prepared on request so I asked for a masala fish starter but was told it was not available. I then requested chicken kebab but they had none....alarm bells should have rung at this point that the food is not freshly prepared. My husband had the special mixed starter the chicken was under cooked and the seekh kebab was dry and tasted like rubber. I had chicken pakoras which were bland. The starter took less than 10 minutes to arrive at the table which again indicated the food is not freshly cooked. For mains we had the Bhuna which was bland and a Murgh Shashlik which was in a sauce with red peppers in instead of a dry dish containing green peppers with a sauce on the side and it tasted more like a chicken tikka masala. The chicken in the curries was a greyish colour again indicating not freshly cooked. And to top it all the bottled water was warm. Leaving the restaurant we were given an after 8 each which was melted and stuck to the wrapper.

We booked for a group of 8 and the staff were fantastic. They were very quick to take our orders and even helped with photo taking! The food was reasonably priced, around £8 for a main. The only thing that would make this an excellent restaurant would be if the portion sizes were a little larger.

Having been regular customers for many years, the customer service, food and ambiance of this well established restaurant just keeps getting better and better. Having seen it grow from a simple takeaway to the restaurant that it is today wouldn't want to eat 'Anywhere' else.... The staff always try to go the extra mile on getting the dishes that you request to taste exactly as you ask, whilst always asking if everything's ok.... First Class every time. That's why we keep coming back time and time again.... Simon & Debbie :-)

On visiting the first time our curries were terrible, egg was in the Rogan josh which made it soggy, mushy and sloppy. Various issues with starters/mains, chewy beef etc.We decided to visit again as a friends birthday incinerated lamb, wilted salad, dried up prawn cocktail. all starters dried up, tried all 8 curries on the table all bland, tasteless and terrible. staff were really miserable.I will try anywhere three times before I will judge a place we went again because our family were going and it was nice, not spicy but a tasty gravy curry. Starters lovely, tried others curries all nice.We decided to get a takeaway chicken balti, as nice our last visit, the curry was tasteless, balnd, not a curry, no tasty gravy, just fat oil that was absolutley bright red slop (food colourings should be banned they are so bad for you in curries and curry houses have advertised this fact when bright yellow, orange or red).We will not be visiting again.

On a flying visit to Cleckheaton with my son; our appointment overran and did not finish until 1730 and we were warned about the traffic hold-ups. Very hungry and facing a 3 hour journey home we thought we would stop for dinner as soon as we saw a restaurant. Eastern Spice was the first one we came across. After a quick check on Tripadvisor, we thought it worth a go.NB not licensed but they allow you take your own alcoholic drinks. Not disappointed. Nice wide range on the menu at a fair price. Pleasant young man serving us (if a bit forgetful of a few things - see later) who explained the menu items. The best bit was that, as we ordered, he asked how spicy we wanted the dish. Never come across that before in an Indian/curry house. I liked that because I like spicy/hot food but the dish that took my fancy was made with cream and would naturally be very mild. So I said - the hotter the better. The food when it came was tasty and really quite good. The dishes looked small but had high meat content (in some curry houses they are a bit stingy on the meat - but not here) and in fact were surprisingly filling. Both my son and I were so full on the main course (no starter but did have a two puppadums) and a couple of naans that we could not face dessert. In general, I found the food less spicy than I have found elsewhere but that may be because the restaurant has to respond to local market demand. The condiments that came with the puppadums were sweet only, nothing spicy. So I asked for lime pickle which they brought me but I found it inedible - sour rather than spicy and it seemed perhaps that it had gone stale. The main courses were delicious and mine had been spiced up (I would have liked it even hotter) as requested and was very tasty. The service was very attentive and the waiter asked a number of times if we needed anything or if we were happy (but we were the only people in at the time!). However he did miss a few very minor things (which I only mention so the restaurant can tighten up if it wishes):-My son really wanted a beer and only when he tried to order one were we advised that the restaurant had no licence. I think this should be advised on arrival. When my son ordered a coke instead - the waiter brought a can of coke but no glassWhen we ordered our meals we clean forgot to order rice. I think the waiter could have asked if we wanted rice at that point. We only realised when the food arrived and it was too late. So we just ordered another naan bread instead which came before we had finished and so we were well filled up. (And the naans are superb)My son went to the local off-licence to buy a couple of beers for us. The waiter brought us a bottle-opener when asked - but again no glasses or offer of them.

I ordered veg masala and asked for no potatoes but to have extra cauliflower in place of potatoes. Dish came with 4 forkfuls of cauli in a sauce which was luke warm and congealed, .I think £6.90 for that was disgusting.

I originally wrote a review stating how rude these people are. They replied calling me a liar. Awful people. Rude & lies. Then questioned the name on the order. My daughter ordered I wrote the review . I have attached their response. Dreadful people. Then the audacity to slag off a whole neighbourhood. Lost lots of custom.
