Have ordered from Surma lots of times and the food is great but the portion sizes are pathetic, one should never have to order 2 portions to feed one person. Person on the phone argued saying they put 8 pieces of meat in, could only find 5 chunks of meat and the rest sauce. Not enough to fill anyone up.

this was the first time I have had a meal from Surma. Everything was 1st class. Meal arrived on time and food was piping hot and very tasty. Couldn't fault it, and will definitely use them again.

We ordered a take away. Not happy at all. We ordered 3 mains amongst other things. The taste was good. I was happy with that but I'm not happy about is that there was much more sauce than meat. I wont order again.

As 2 of our favourite Indian restaurants are permanently closed we tried several before we found Surma so far they have been great Lovely Dansak, Spicy Jalfrazi. Lovely Tikka Masala and Pasanda tender chicken good sides

Really disappointing food. Chicken sashlik had more onion than chicken, keema naan was revolting. Early delivery was the only plus but won't be using again.

Excellent tasty and good quality dishes. They were delivered later than scheduled, perhaps this explained why it was not as hot as I would have liked. However I will order from them again.

This is our goto Indian takeaway. Very reasonable prices and always tasty. Try the Adda lamb, haven't found anywhere else that does it yet. Keep it up guys

I discovered this restaurant through JustEat as we wanted to try a different curry place for a change. Both dishes we ordered had flavour and tasted amazing. The chicken pieces were tender and cooked to perfection. The delivery was on time, food was warm and driver friendly. If I absolutely have to pick one negative thing then it will be the small size of the poppadoms as the were a bit on the small size for the same price as most other places. I would strongly recommend this Indian restaurant!

The food arrived very late and the driver called to ask where we were before they'd come down our road. The food was nicely flavoured, but could have been more varied. It was good value for money and the portions were good.

Far too salty! Couldn't eat 2 of the curries due the the amount of salt in it. Chef needs to taste his food.

Food was pre ordered for 7:45 didn’t turn up until 8:30. Cold soggy inedible chips, cold rice, cold naan. Meat was tough and horrible. Best thing was the sag aloo and that wasn’t a great temperature. Glad my local Indians are nothing like this!

Chicken Vindaloo wasn’t hot (spice) and also didn’t have much chicken in was mostly packed with potatoes.

Keema Rice had peas which I allergic too. I phoned the restaurant and asked for a replacement without peas which I was told would be £5.50 including delivery. He was very rude and spoke over me. Food was OK but I definitely won't be ordering from there again.

I ordered the meal at 18.40. The delivery time was quoted as 19.05-19.25 and the food still hadn't arrived by 19.45. I phoned them up and was given the excuse that the delivery driver had left at 19.30 (still past the latest delivery time). Then they hung up on me.

This was the first time I ordered from Surma. The food was really awful. Watery curries with no flavour. The Prawns in my Dhansak had a lot of shell on them. The Peshwari naan had next to no fillings. Sloppy saag aloo. Really bad. Would not order from here again.

Exactly what you would expect from a takeaway. No surprises, you know what you're gonna get, and at an affordable price.

To be honest, I was a little bit disappointed with the quality of the food. The mushroom biryani we ordered looked identical to the mushroom rice that we also ordered.

Order didn't track properly, had no alert that it was on the way, and was still showing as 'order confirmed' when it had been delivered! Was advised it would take at least one hour, was called within 30 mins to say driver was outside when he wasn't, gave driver an alternative number to call and he didn't call it - then it took almost an hour after that until he knocked the door, something went terribly wrong!

This is the first time I have used Surma for my Indian takeaway and it was the best ive ever had. I have used all the Indian takeaways around East Grinstead for many years and I only wish i tried this one sooner. This will be my go to Indian from now on.👌

Mixed feelings about this takeaway.Food arrived early and was piping hot. The popadoms were burnt and the korma was watery and not edible however the rice and tikka were yummy! I advised that I was shielding but the driver told me that I had to come out to get my food after calling my phone to tell me he didn’t have my phone number which I had logged for them

I've been toying with a few Indian takeaways around East Grinstead and finally decided to try surma and I'm glad I did, very tasty food, at a reasonable price.

I ordered a chicken tikka biryani and it tasted great. Staff was friendly and the service was excellent.

I'd been meaning to try a takeaway from Surma for ages but it had been incorrectly listed on TripAdvisor as permanently closed and I was a little perturbed by some of the reviews! However don't be put off - this is probably the best Indian takeaway in East Grinstead that I've tried so far! Surma has a large and varied menu that is particularly great for veggies. I chose the kadai paneer - which had a surprising kick to it! - but was so moreish! The puree bread was delicious and we served a portion of aloo gobi on top of it, which enhanced the taste further. Put simply, the flavours are delicious and authentic, the portions are generous, the staff are friendly and the food is ready at the time stated. There are many more dishes on the menu that warrant an order, so my advice for a great Indian takeaway is not to overlook Surma in favour of East Grinstead's better known Indian restaurants.

The website was easy to navigate and order from, the food came quickly, the delivery guy was sweet, and the food was really delicious, so flavorsome and the meat was nicely cooked. You get a lot of food for what you pay for. I literally just finished eating it and while I'm now uncomfortably full, the whole experience was extremely positive and delicious. Will definitely order again.

We had a couple of Bryiani dishes and naan breads. It was ok, nothing special and a bit lacking in flavour. The order taking was easy and the delivery time was around an hour and delivered by a very pleasant young gentleman.

Been here for years, I love this place. Everyone is so kind, friendly and helpful. Sometimes I like to get my order delivered, it has been prompt, the driver is very polite and takes a lot of care with the food. Most of the time I like to come in and collect to benefit from the 10% off Cash & Collection discount. (They're next to the Wicks Vintage Sweet Shop by the way, it can be hard to tell that they are there if you haven't been to Surma before.) Love Surma, they work so hard and you can tell. I will continue to go there for many more years to come. Brilliant Indian Takeaway.

Best Indian takeaway in Grinstead

Lovely curry! Pleasant staff (have picked up from the shop and had delivered, good experience both times). Me and the missus both liked the mint sauce in particular, the Madras is brill and the peshwari naan nice and sweet. So good we went back the next weekend after trying Surma for the 1st time not long ago. Recommended!

Great takeaway. There mixed grill is great, along with the typical English Tikka masala. Very nice staff and a discount for paying in cash.

We placed our order and then realised we had forgotten to add something. My husband called them and they added the missing item to the order and for Free - thank you. The order cam fairly qucikly and the food was good too, just what we needed

We have order here several times but recently the delivery service has gone down hill dramatically, twice in a row they got our order wrong and this time, the just didn't bother processing it, we had to ring after an hour and they said they hadn't checked the order but would start cooking it now. No apology, no effort to make amends. Plenty of other better, more efficient Indain resturants in East Grinstead.

The food here is nice and fairly consistent. It's not the best Indian in the area, but it's up there.

Probamos este hindú para llevar por primera vez la semana pasada, habiendo sido recomendado por varios amigos. Lo que pedimos estaba muy sabroso y razonable en tamaño y costo. Sin orden de aquí ya se encuentra en un lugar conveniente en la ciudad, con fácil aparcamiento cerca. Había una muy buena selección de platos en el menú, algunos de los cuales fueron especiales así que sería agradable para probar.

Absolutely disgusting don't deliver to edenbridge or cowden which are rwn fifteen minutes always. very rude on the phone and will not give refunds as through PayPal which I thoughts that's what PayPal was about obviously not will not be using or recommending his place to anyone

What has happened ... just had a takeaway it was awful ..a dry vegetable curry swimming in fat we could not eat it .... hard bombay potatoes and a very dry tandori chicken and tasteless onion bhaji's ... time too look for a better curry takeaway we think and it cost £28.00

Spent 70 mins to find my house. Then canceled when they couldn't find it. Unapologetic. Re ordered from another Indian restaurant and they delivered within 20 mins. This restaurant is a joke.

I used to rate this as the best place to get an Indiean takeaway in East Grinstead, unfortunately we have had several below par experiences recently. This came to a head today when we ordered several dishes at a cost of £58.60 to get home and find that one was missing and the Masala was only half full. I rung to complain and was advised that the missing dish wasn't ordered, but there should have been a different dish in its place which wasn't there. I was told to bring the order back, which I did. They then preceded to give me a replacement Masala and a new bryiani but wouldn't change any of the other dishes which were now 30-35 minutes old. When I queried this it clearly ticked the difficult box so I demanded my. Money back and went to the Nizam for a wonderful curry and joyful experience. I will never eat in the Surma again.
