Monsoon Dining Rooms in Mid Sussex

After a couple of visits in the restaurant and after a second takeaway tonight, I’m very impressed. The food is always fresh and the portions are generous. Recommended.

Food lacked flavour and took forever to prepare

This place is hit or miss. The service is usually very good, but can be painfully slow on busy days. The food is below average. My usual curry is a chicken jalfrezi. Unfortunately, the chicken is overcooked, so can be quite tough. The onion bhajis were like crisps and very small. They do need to up their game when it comes to the food. I'll be going to their competitors in Felbridge on my next curry night

Recently moved to East Grinstead, so starting to try out the local curry houses. Very happy with the take-out. Decent amount of meat and good sized portions. Tasty and full of flavour.

For a service that’s meant to be a ‘delivery service’, to have the delivery driver ask you to come out and collect the delivery from his car because he didn’t want to get out and try to investigate which house to deliver to is extremely poor and lazy. Had it of been raining I might have understood more but on a perfectly dry evening where clear instructions were given this is very bad.

It seems a bit odd to choose an Indian restaurant in Barcelona, and it was very quiet... but this was a bit of a hidden jem. Food was very good.. traditional and authentic, but also a good bar for a group of us staying at the hotel next door, whose bar wasn't open so early in the season. Stayed open till midnight for us.

Poor, waited over an hour for dessert and coffee, never arrived so paid and left, Service is terrible. Just eat guys hanging around in the doorway and outside, don't even take their crash helmets off when they come in, thought the place was being robbed.

Such a shame we've been coming here for years but tonight they couldn't be bothered. I accept they were busy but we didn't get our second lot of drinks that we asked for. Trouble is there's no competition!

My thoughts were echoed by the couple next to us. Wouldn't recommend and won't go back.

Food is great. We were missing popadoms and paid for sauces too so not happy about that. Which is annoying because this is rapidly becoming my fave take out and this little slip is basic error 😥

Arrived bang on time and delicious!

It bills itself as the only Indian in town, which made us a little nervous - if you've got the market to yourself, do you have to try very hard? Need not have bothered. The place was absolutely rammed for a Friday night, which meant service initially was a little bit stretched but oh boy was the food worth waiting for. The staff were attentive - despite being run off their feet - the building is charming; but most importantly of all, the food is great. Delicious.

We ordered a curry last night via just eat. On the app it said it would take a maximum of about an hour, which was fine at first. But an hour and a half later at about 21:20pm we still hadn’t received our food. By this time we are questioning where it is. We called Monsoon themselves and explained we had ordered food via just eat eat, just querying where it is as on the app it said it had been ‘delivered’ ‘enjoy your food’ but before we could say anything else they hung up on us, not just the once, twice! I know that just eat have got nothing to do with them but we didn’t need the phone being put down on us! By about 22:10ish we received the food, by then we weren’t hungry. Very disappointed by the customer service! Won’t be eating here again!

Excellent service, curries brilliant, only one thing was the salads with the tandoori starters and main course, were a little bit basic 95% lettuce and not much else, but worth a return visit….

Went for early dinner. Started with poppadoms and tray of lovely chutneys, onions etc, great selection. For mains we had Chicken Tikka Masala, Naga chicken and Lamb shank. Everyone agreed the food was deliicous especially the lamb shank which I had, the sauce being very tasty and not too spicy. Prices were reasonable but gratuity added was more than 10%, not sure why. Service was excellent and will definitely return.

Absolutely fantastic curry snd im indian saying this! I well recommend the staff is great how ever you want ur curry they will do it fantastic chapatis!!

Sadly the food was so cold. So it all needed reheating but you simply shouldn’t do that. It would have been better if hot so hard to judge. I therefore could not eat much. Plus my starter was not cooked properly.

Food is always really flavoursome, and consistently so. Plenty of options for all tastes. I've tried nearly everything on the menu now so I feel I can honestly review. Great service, and very comfy. Parking is free in town and surrounding area after 6.

Always get a warm welcome and a great curry (including takeaway delivery). Very central location and lots of seating. Nice and light modern interior with recently refurbished toilets that are genuinely very impressive now.

We really enjoyed dinner here last Friday night. The restaurant atmosphere was lively and I don’t remember the last time I enjoyed an Indian meal so much. Curries were exceedingly rich in flavour and nan bread found the perfect balance between soft and crispy. Service wasn’t very attentive but overall experience was great.

If all the restaurants serving garlic naan these are the best I’ve had. Not doughy, just the right amount of garlic. Chicken is good too! Tender.

I love this place. I came regularly over a 20 year period, before I moved away from the town for a few years. Now I'm back, the food seems to be better than ever! Really friendly staff as well!

Absolutely love eating here. The staff are amazing and the service is impeccable. The food is always delicious and they always go above and beyond to make the dining experience something special.

+ dishes are spicy, tasty, flavorful + naan breads are amazing + customer service is polite and friendly + service is fast - some dishes are a bit oily - the price is quite premium for area, especially for a takeaway.

Beautiful venue, location is great. Food is fairly good. Service is a mixed bag — some waiters are friendly and welcoming, one or two are abrupt and borderline rude.

I have enjoyed curry my whole life and have eaten in many restaurants .The monsoon is by far the best. The food is amazing and the service is the fantastic . Friendly waiters who let you take your time. Highly recommend Shia Naga lamb shank !! J

If I could, I would have given nil stars. We had been sitting in the restaurant 40 mins before being offered a drink, this just set the tone for the awful service. The only time they apologised (for apparently being surprised by the number of people booked) was when we refused to pay the automatic service charge. We ordered an alcohol free cobra - they took no notice and served the alcohol one. This is dangerous for drivers. The food itself was bland - lacked taste. This is one of the worst Indians we have had. This is the first and absolutely last time we will visit. There are a lot better ones in the area.

Keep having takeaways delivered from here as they are so very delicious, best curry’s we have ever had. Very efficient & always quick delivery! Reasonably priced. Also have dined in the restaurant before, always great service from Jay & the team.

First time dining at Monsoon, at it was perfect! Good atmosphere, lovely food, great service, even tho they were super busy! I am a fussy vegan and the man who took the food order was very helpful to make the required changes. We shall return!

We had a wonderful Christmas day lunch at monsoon for a change we had the special Christmas day set menu but we where not left hungry there where 6 of us and the portions plenty and the food tasted great. The staff where very friendly and welcoming we will be back for more.

Jay and the waiters are friendly and helpful and know exactly which table we like and have our poppodums and beers ready without asking. The menu is extensive with innovative house specialities as well as the traditional curries and all the ones we have tried have been delicious with a good balance of succulent meat or chicken or fish and sauce and a generous portion size. We have tried many many Indian Restaurants over the years the Monsoon is the best.

We ordered a takeaway for Mother’s Day. Jay and his team were very helpful. The meal arrived exactly on the agreed time (don’t expect this being Mother’s Day). As always the food was very tasty, piping hot with lots of different flavours and enjoyed by all. Best indian takeaway ever, would highly recommend. Fantastic service.

Had takeway, delivered food was hot but not piping hot. We had Prawns on Puri to start and Dansak and Chicken Tikka Karah mains both very tasty usuall side dishes good

We decided last night it would make a change to have some Indian takeaway food. I had been to eat at Monsoon a couple of times in the past and enjoyed the food and so was quite excited to eat their food last night. However, myself and my two adult children were very disappointed with the quality of the food. We each had Onion Bhajis to start and found them to be too dry and crunchy. Not sure if they were cooked fresh for us. We also found our main courses a bit bland - my Chicken Tikka Masala was ok, but not as spicy and tasty as I was expecting. I also ordered a Paratha bread, as always, but found it to be more like a chapati. All the food was eaten, but we were all left feeling disappointed.

First time using monsoon. Food arrived as expected but very disappointed with the meal. Onion bhaji's were greasy and the Bombay potatoes were like plain boiled potatoes. Chicken Bhuna was Spicy, chicken dry and there was no flavour to the dish, very bland. I love a good indian but this was the worst I've had and will definitely not be using them again. Wish that Tarana in Turners Hill delivered! Sorry Monsoon, but you were a complete let down.

Dinner for 2 which was exellent.Chicken tikka main course as a starter shared. They leave the chicken in large pieces so does not dry out.... perfectKing prawn and lamb sag as main courses with mushroom rice all cooked to perfection.There are many choices of Indian restaurants to choose from but this stands out at the top of the pack.like to consider myself a fair judge of a curry so try for yourself I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I have gone for dinner at Monsoon a handful of times over the past four years, but have always found the food to be a bit hit-and-miss, ranging from mediocre to good-but-nothing-to-write home-about. We gave Monsoon another try last night as we are not fans of Nizam, and The Gurkha does not seem to be open for eating in, and we are so glad we did! We had the Sunday banquet and it was exceptionally good. The portions were generous, the service attentive, and the food was great. The crab samosas, onion bhajis, and homemade chutneys were highlights, and I have never had a better chicken tikka masala. We will be back! Great job!
