Balti House in Mid Sussex

Nice place and nice food. One dish was not exceptional as too much tomato sauce and lamb very hard so maybe avoid lamb, but the rest were nice 👍🏼 you can bring your own drinks, they don’t serve alcohol. There is a lot of food for 2 people but was great to have the possibility to try different dishes.

5th oct 24.Been ordering food from here for years but this time was absolutely shocking. It was like left overs from night before. Mint sauce was weird and lumpy, sag paneer was like green slop and chicken was just weird. You have lost a loyal customer .

Completly wrong order delivered to the house, could not get through on the phone and sent several emails but no reply. Will not use again!

Travelled down from London and I’m glad we found this place, everything tasted amazing. They had a variety of food and every dish was perfect. Definitely will be visiting again. Great customer service too.

Have been ordering from Balti House for a number of years. The food quality is always a bit hit and miss. The curries this time around were solid enough and chicken pieces generous. But the bajis were very poor oily and obviously re fried. Having worked with Indian cuisine before this really hurts to see. A solid meal from this restaurant but small things keep it from being perfect.

The best chicken korma! Creamy delicious sauce with large tender pieces of chicken. Big decent size naan breads. The staff are friendly. Service is usually quick. Great for takeaway and table service. (I would recommend takeaway more as I suspect you get bigger portion sizes) and it's 10% off the price if you collect the food yourself.

The Best Indian food we have eva had Delivered in great time food piping hot fresh not greasy homemade samosas we had six different dishes and every one was top quality don't usually do reviews but felt the Balti house really deserved ours thank you for the most amazing meal we will be booking a table to Dine at your restaurant very soon

Second visit within a month. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and delightful food. Nan bread perfectly cooked, veggie sides very tasty (and not too oily). Looking forward to coming again soon, thank you.

Waste of money and taste ... very worst restaurant which I have ever seen and poor customer service when u order online especially through just eat.. ordered for kheema naan and lamb curry the naan was really burnt and the food was very cold because it was delivered after an hour we ordered when I asked just eat they said I have to ask the restaurant but I booked it through just eat and I don't understand y should I ask the restaurant..And also I'm regretting that I gave of tip of 10 £ for the driver.. worsest app is just it... and the restaurant offerd me to come and collect it after I complained where I don't see the logic coz I ordered for delivery and they asking me to come and collect it and guys pls make sure the positive comments on the restaurant is their own family and friends so just don't trust... Big portions low price on a deal. Quality is good overall sometimes hit and miss. The naans and starters are great. Would be good to see a few new dishes on menu e.g railway lamb Kerala Chicken and chicken or lamb chaat starter. Slow cooked lamb curry. Or lamb shank curry.

Always high quality food. The best Indian in town. Very reasonably priced with friendly, welcoming staff. The only thing that lets it down is that it is a victim of it's own success and when it gets busy the service can be below average. Still my go to takeaway though. UPDATE: not sure whether they have changed chef or owner, but the last couple of times we have been the food is definitely worse than it used to be. The gravy around the curry is now watery and not as tasty. Such a shame but maybe a time to try elsewhere 😞

This is a good value Indian but poor quality. You get good-sized portions. It's not a flavoursome Indian and sometimes that's OK because it is good value. I sometimes do the banqueting night takeaway, I think most of their curry tastes the same, I've tried a few, and they all taste like tomato and oil. The lamb was tender but flavourless, onion bahjis were lovely, rice lovely, they make amazing breads but the main dishes are not great and, I order for the quantity and price when i just need a cheap hit of spice. If they got a better grip on the flavours, this would be a gem. But it's just so bland and oily.

Previous 5 star review, but after having been a loyal customer for many years I'm left feeling ripped off. Placed an order on Just Eat, they sat on my order for nearly an hour, order cancelled, but kept my money. I won't be using them again.

I ordered a delivery from their online menu. It was delivered promptly and with a smile. Quite simply delicious food. Onion Bahjis were crisp, not at all oily and extremely tasty. The Duck Tikka was delicious and tender and came with beautifully cooked Naan bread. Mushroom Bahji was very flavourful and rich tasting with fresh coriander on top. Complimentary Poppadoms. Best Indian food I’ve had in a long while 👏

Ordered take away always fantastic but last Sunday wasn’t Stale poppadums ,the cucumber rahita was like curdled vomit with three slithers of cucumber and cost £3.50 and the other curries had exploded in bag , where Luke warm but tasted good I’ve emailed three times to offer feedback but had no response which is why done review

Fantastic place to visit especially on a Wednesday evening. Service 100% perfect Food 100% perfect We stopped off on our route home and what a surprise it was really busy and that was at 7 in the evening.. Will definitely be returning Thanks for a great meal with great service.

Fantastic service, food and prices for the banquet.. £12.95 per person for a starter, side, main, rice and bread/naan of choice all included. Portions are so filling.

I have had the buffet several times and it has always been fantastically delicious. Just be clear that you are wanting to order what is available in the buffet deal. Great value.

Such a variety of opinions I can only suggest that you give it a try and see what you think Saturday lunchtime was our visiting time and we can say that it was real value for us A couple of relaxing hours with excellent food and our own choice of wine and beer make it so much more enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting what to have so much so that we returned the very next Saturday. We will return on one of the advertised buffet days to compare and see what it's like.

If you are Indian with a moderate spice palate, kindly refrain from visiting. I got something of a burnt garlic fried rice instead of what I ordered(Biryani). I got chicken Tikka which were boiled chunks of chicken(Not grilled at all) with some red food color and sautéed onions. The Chicken Phall (curry) although I ordered spiciest level tasted only burnt Chilli flavour and no aromatics. The Nan was the only thing which I can recommend here. Trust me guys we can cook way better food at home than these restaurants.

Great vindaloo, great portions, maybe they have a new chef, as much improved. Even threw me in rice and poppadoms 😋 Also makes a change from other curry houses where you pay 20-30 pounds for enough rice to feed your family for a week and 3 pieces of meat.

The food was phenomenal! 100% would recommend 👌 we all thoroughly enjoy it. Parking is fairly reasonable too, staff were lovely. The only downside was the large crowds of teenagers hanging around outside. The staff did eventually ask them all to move on.

Very nice food. Not the usual Indian. Same food but with a Bangladeshi take on it all Great service with friendly staff If you are visiting for the buffet, Sunday or Monday, be sure to mention it before ordering or you get a surprise in the for of a bigger bill than expected.

We have eaten at the Balti House many times and sadly the quality of the food seems to have declined, the service is always good however this will sadly be our last visit. This has happened over a period of time and it would appear that perhaps the restaurant is more focused on their take away menu than looking after customers in the restaurant. That is just an observation. On our Saturday evening visit (prime time) only 3 tables were occupied. Perhaps this says it all.

Amazing food and great customer service

Balti house is great value for money, either for take-away or their buffet evenings. The staff have always been very friendly and helpful. The food has always been good. It's a great every day curry house.

Me and one of my grandsons dropped this evening, had the place to ourselves as quite early, the food was superb, portion size just right and tasted fantastic can't fault in any way, will definitely go back again.

Why offer an 'order whatever you like off the menu' option then try to trick people by saying "you didn't ask for the buffet". It is exactly the same menu! Our bill was £25 more than the offer price. Didn't pay it but won't be going back.

I have been going for here for years now and always feel I receive a great consistent and reliable service. The food itself is superb and way better value for money than other over priced curry houses in Haywards Heath/Lindfield.

Waste of £60, have used this restaurant/takeaway for years ,and has progressively got worse every time we use them. Heavily greased onion bahjis, tasteless mushroom bahjis, curry was cold.

Gross. When my order came out it was wrong but the ‘senior’ waiter confirmed it was in fact what I ordered. Looked nothing like it should, flagged this and was assured it was definitely what I ordered. Gave them benefit of doubt - should have stuck to my gut! Was far too sweet to be what I had ordered, was like they’d conjured up a basic curry and chucked in loads of mango chutney. Thought maybe the chicken would be ok - Wrong! Crunched like uncooked chicken. Bill comes, low and behold the ‘senior’ waiter had lied through his teeth and I didn’t receive what I ordered despite questioning this and being reassured otherwise. When I challenged this his excuse was ‘but it’s nicer’… Not taking in to consideration allergies or intolerance. He very reluctantly removed this from the bill. Avoid if you want to eat what you actually order and enjoy it!

Went here on a Monday night with a colleague. Cheap as chips and got a right good feed for £12. The food I had was excellent for no money

My husband and I have eaten in the restaurant or had a takeaway three times in total. Eating in the restaurant was a fairly good experience, but the food from delivery has been mediocre. The first food delivery was in December near Christmas in the aftermath of the snow so we were very lenient with slightly cold food a long wait time and also one of the main dishes being completely wrong. We decided to have another delivery recently in milder weather and surprisingly, we had to wait over an hour for delivery and when it arrived it was luke warm food and missing side orders. I called and relayed both issues from my current and previous order to the chap at the restaurant and was informed “it was too busy to send out the missing items” so, a refund was taken for the missing items. An offer of free sauces (worth around 60p) were offered with our future order. I would have expected perhaps a reimbursement of at least one of our main courses and Nan breads. As that’s what had been missing. With a simple apology. The food isn’t the best but is good value for its price - I would strongly suggest eating in their restaurant on one of their discount days and Do NOT order food for delivery. Sadly we won’t be going back. We would rather pay more and have delicious, correct, hot food than poor delivery times and being apprehensive about what items will be missing this time! Such a shame.

Whenever we get a takeaway from balti house it is always piping hot, generously proportioned and delivered on time. Can’t fault it!

The service front of house at the Balti House is second to none, and that isn’t the end of the story. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is complimented nicely by some choice music. I will always return to the Balti House!

Always a good night at the Balti house. Staff lovely, brilliant music and to top it off a lovely curry. My favourite dhansak is the perfect mix. The naans lovely too.

You need to sort the toilets out!! Pretty Grim and very cold, I always wonder what the kitchen is like when I see the state of the toilet decoration, facilities and cleaning!! Or lack of. Food OK but after visiting the toilet I'm not sure I'll be back... also this restaurant does not have an alcohol licence... so bring your own or better still find one with alcohol and better toilets

Best Curry House in Sussex Excellent value for money and excellent quality nothing is too much trouble and seeing families come in with young children the staff are very attentive to them.

Awful awful place! Still waiting on a refund that was promised after the food was late, cold and missing items! Rang to ask if this could be rectified and was promised a refund. This never arrived. Emails and messages sent and they have all been ignored! Absolutely disgusting! I'd also avoid the Cheese naan as it was made with burger cheese slices - the kind you receive at McDonald's!!!! Have made it clear to all friends and family to avoid like the plague!!!!

Great food but felt disappointed we were nearly swindled out of 20 quid. We went for the buffet night and when we received the bill it was £20 more expensive, when questioned we were told we didn’t ask for buffet (we did!) which maybe was a miscommunication but when it was rectified they were quite rude about it. The food was really lovely but it’s a shame the staff were quite mean about a mistake they made.

So went in for the Monday Buffet which was very good portion size was acceptable for my and my Partners main dish but a little bit less so with our rice servings! The quality of the food was very acceptable not outstanding but solid so didn't detract from our meal. So service was acceptable a little bit mechanical but again acceptable.

Loved it. Will come again. Update 27/3/22. We have now been here about 10 times. Aways a lovely experience. The whole family would recommend

Great starters and but not so good mains, too much sauce to not enough meat.

Ordered a take-a-way curry for four at 1910 on a Saturday night. The restaurant gave us a pick-up time of 1944, which we put back to 2000. So, we gave them an additional 16 minutes, 50 minutes in all. However, when I arrived at 1959 I was told the food was just being packed, then I was told they were still cooking the order, then I was told it was just being packed and ultimately it was 10 minutes late. Maybe that’s not a big deal but standing in a restaurant for 10 minutes, on a Saturday night, the most precious time of the week, is pretty poor. If the restaurant had told us 2010, I would have been there at that time. The food was actually really good, just frustrating service.

boring and bland. The bigger the menu the better it is? No! Just means using the same sauces on different meats - no finesse. 1 step away from a sticky carpet - thought this type of restaurant died in the 80's. Such a shame.
