West Bar Tandori in Sheffield

After walking around the Peaks all day,we were starving. Googled Chesterfield and Westbars came up,turned out to be an excellent choice........By me. To be honest,I wasn't too impressed with Westbars from the outside,but inside it was a different story. Nice decor,beautifully clean and excellent washroom facilities. The Service was fantastic,the attention to detail and attentiveness to us was just right,very professional. The food was lovely and the portions were generous. Abrock,the owner,deserves a special mention for his service. Thoroughly recommend

Food was nice but £17 for chicken balti and kema nan was very expensive could have had take away and paid taxi fare home sorry not again and no price on website to eat in

Ali and the team always give a very warm welcome and great service. We have used them for over 15 years eating in and takeaways and have never had a bad meal. We continue to use them even though we now have a 20 mile round trip to collect our takeaways. Thank you guys

Amazing food, staff were lovely. Best Indian I've had in a long time. Naga is definitely not for the faint hearted. Portion sizes are spot on. All the food was exceptionally tasty and flavourful. Will definitely be back

Don’t bother . Orders at 6.30 for delivery at 8pm . No ordered delivered by 8.40 .. !!! Every excuse given why the delay !!!

I used to look forward to our curry so much but wasn't even edible this time. The chicken was rubbery and foul. I've eaten the chicken tikka masala here for about 8 years but it's been changed. The colour of the curry was much darker and it wasn't creamy. In addition to this the mint dip with poppadoms tasted almost watered down with no flavour at all. Won't order again. A customer lost.

Amazing food and a lovely atmosphere. The menu is more varied than other restaurants and we tried some fabulous dishes that we haven’t come across before. You won’t be disappointed.

I had the vegetarian menu for 2, which seems to have gone up a lot since last time. There is very little choice for vegetarians, which seems to be less than last time, unfortunately most of the curry’s (korma, balti etc) did not have a vegetarian option. The food was very good and served quickly. Nice choice of Brampton brewery beers.

The staff served our 23 team members perfectly, sat us all within reach of each other so we could chat & 'mingle'. Food was excellent, service was second to none, everyone had a great night.

Called here for the first time on a recommendation from my son. Initial impressions it was very clean and we were greeted straight away and sat at a table. Despite them being very busy with take aways our food arrived very quickly and was excellent. We will definitely call again.

Imagine taking a group of 6 to a restaurant that has your booking in their book and there being no table. Furious....NO apology, nothing complimentary just the offer of waiting in a very small space for a table where people have clearly only just started eating. Unbelievable don't trust you'll have a table!!

I have been using West Bars Tandoori on and off for the last 30 years and have never been disappointed with the food. We decided to order a takeaway from them on New Year's Eve. When we eventually got through to them at 17.41 (they have a weird phone system for a restaurant) we ordered our meal. We were told that it was be 1.45hrs before it would be delivered which we accepted given we knew they would be busy and we wanted our meal delivered. This meant it would have been delivered around 7.30pm. At 07.45pm we decided to try and contact them to see where our order was. It took us 30 minutes to get through to them on two different numbers. We also tried social media to try and contact the. When we did eventually get through to ask where our meal was they stated they would need at least 30 minutes more. This would have took the delivery time to approx 9pm..... We cancelled the order. Really disappointed with the fact they couldn't manage demand on the day. This ruined the evening. Shame as we liked their food but after this we now will never use this Indian Restaurant again.

West bars has always been my go to takeaway Indian - not anymore! Firstly, never order off their website! I thought it would be easier as paying with card. An hour later I called to check the restaurant had received my order & just got a quick “yes we have it” no explanation for the long wait. I asked how long it would be and was told “not long”. An hour later and food still hadn’t arrived so I called back to be told it would be 5 minutes. I wish I hadn’t bothered at all. The food didn’t taste fresh. The paneer tikka was rock solid & the chicken in all of the dishes tasted old and dry with a brown colour when cutting into it. None of the dishes tasted fresh & I would never bother ordering again. Not sure if the ingredients for customers in the restaurant are any fresher but for what appears to be a busy Saturday night - gone off tasting chicken is not good.

Have ordered for over a year from here and food and service has always been excellent, however tonight the order took 2.20 hours to be delivered after two phone calls and they think this is acceptable 🤬won’t use again both personally and with work, terrible...

Prior to COVID 19 we have always chosen Westbars Tandoori as our preferred Indian takeaway, we even choose to collect it from Matlock. Last night was our first takeaway from Westbars since COVID 19 and we went to collect it as normal, giving an hour as advised.As I went to collect the takeaway I was greeted by 5 people stood around the tiny bar and seating area. A polite man held the door for me and beckoned me in to what I can only describe as a COVID-fest. Not wanting to be rude I went inside. We were all stood shoulder to shoulder. No one wearing masks. The man at the 'tiny' bar instantly wants your money and makes you wait. Luckily I was able to 'social distance' on the seating area and wait and watch the horror around me. Firstly a group of 3 men waiting for a free table decided to take their drinks and sit around the table that holds all the takeaways ready to be delivered. Really nice knowing they were talking and spitting all over other peoples food. A couple then entered and the woman was slyly insinuating to sit down. I asked if she had a mask which she looked disgusted at me - therefore I said no mask no sitting next to me. This would've meant I had to have sat cosy between a man and a woman both with no mask - great social distancing. People are clearly thick.30 minutes later (after already given them the hour they advised) I had to ask when my takeaway would be ready. I was ushered back to my seat and asked to wait another 10 minutes. 40 minutes in total of having to sit in the COVID fest. Once my takeaway was ready I received no apology for the long wait which you would expect.If I do not catch COVID after this it will be a miracle. How they have been safely allowed to open I do not know and I genuinely feel it is a hazard to health and safety. Waiting for a takeaway does not adhere to any social distancing measures and if you cannot social distance the staff should be enforcing people to wear masks. There was also no hand gel on arrival or cleaning facilities for the door handles etc. Really really not good and very disappointing to say they were our go-too Indian. We will not be returning in a very long time.

On a Wednesday night. May expect a wait on a weekend but this was just a joke. Everything we rang they said it was on the way and would be ten minutes. Obviously not the case. Really not acceptable to wait so long.

My husband and I really enjoy travelling. We also really enjoy a great curry. However, these are hard to find. Our absolute favourites so far have been Nazeem’s in Vientiane Laos, Punjabi Palace in Brisbane and......yes .....West Bars in Chesterfield . The curry was brilliant....

I ordered a take away which included a chicken Byriani what I got was chicken in a byriani sauce and the vegetable sauce the chicken was meant to be in rice!! And there was not raita sauce with the onion baji I called the restaurant...

Nice stylish decor and plenty of space around the tables. Not sure how other reviewers are negative about the service, as ours was faultless. Efficient and friendly. We had chicken madras and a chicken biryani, chapati, rice and a gobi aloo. All were excellent. Succulent and tasty. All in all a great little Indian.

- Gentleman who took the initial phone call was very rude and tried to charge us £5 for delivery, eventually backed down once I had explained this is different to their website (after trying to argue this with me)- waited two and a half hours for our food to arrive after multiple phone calls with the same rude gentleman who initially told us the delivery was 'just setting off' which turned out to be a complete lie as the delivery man rang an hour later to say he was only just leaving chesterfield and asking for the address !- again a very rude phone call with the same man arguing with me and very reluctant to offer any kind of refund or speed up the service even after expressing our disappointment with the service- when the food finally came was cold. Overall a very bad experience and to say we usually order food from here on a regular basis we definitely won't be again in a hurry

We shared a set vegetarian meal for two. The sauces were so tasty best korma. Sauce I have had. Very generous portions we could not eat it all so took it home.

Nos sentamos sin esperar y rápidamente ofrecieron bebidas.Teníamos poppadoms y una bandeja pickle, pero me pareció que el salsas un poco crudos y aguachenta, incluso el chutney de cebolla/tamarindo era tan crudos como el yogur.El primer plato era servido y eran caliente y sabrosa e incluía una mixta; todos los tandoori carne era tierna y esto incluía dos langostinos tandoori también de buen tamaño.Los platos principales eran abundantes tener tanto un plato caliente de pollo y un plato de cordero que tristemente de tamaño no está incluida en el actual menú de comida para llevar. Tanto el arroz y pan pan eran una pequeña variación en el menú de aquellos que fueron preparados sin ningún problema y en general el servicio fue bastante bueno.Había un montón de gente pidiendo comida para llevar, que es una buena señal y toda la comida, incluyendo un par de bebidas cada uno (para dos personas), y tres botellas de sidra Magners era de aproximadamente 46 libras, que era muy razonable.

(no estoy seguro si escribí ese derecho) De todos modos de nuevo muy sabroso. Compartimos un ajo y champiñones arroz y ajo y nan con queso. Sobrecarga de ajo puede decir, pero fue una comida muy agradable y en 46 libras que incluía tres y media caña me pareció muy razonable. . .

By far the best Indian food in Chesterfield. Have eaten here lots of times. Never had a bad meal. Highly recommended.

Booked a table for a Saturday evening. I opted for butter chicken and I have to say it was mild as I like it, however it was very bland in taste. Maybe I will opt for something a bit spicier next time.

Pregunté si podíamos cambiar de mesa, así que podría ser utilizado para un grupo de 6 que no parecen tener una reserva aunque no habíamos terminado nuestra comida. Entonces quería sentarse en la espera y a la zona de recogida para llevar terminar nuestra comida. No lo creo. Dieron bill y a la izquierda. Esta es la segunda vez que lo he hecho para nosotros, que arruinaron totalmente la noche. No se disculparon y parecía más preocupado con la fiesta no reservada sentado! ! called here with a friend who comes here regularly. me, i'm used to using another place. however, i'm now converted to this place. reason why is because if you ask them to cook you food how they would eat it, not how we eat in the western world, they will do it for you. If you are in to food, you will know what a difference this makes. the service was excellent, which stood out as they remembered my friends name and what he liked to eat. i will definitely be coming back here for takeaway and also to eat in.

Solía ir allí bastante a menudo pero fuimos en enero con amigos y fue decepcionante. La comida tardó muchísimo, naans hecha, platos no se presentaron muy bien y el servicio no era bueno. Nos enviaron el pan volver pero en general no fue una buena experiencia y esto nos sorprendió ya que normalmente están bien y el restaurante no estaba demasiado lleno.

Visité el lunes por la noche, el restaurante era bastante con unas cuantas fiestas de comer.

Opens 1730 so is good for pre theatre meals. We used their take away service regularly over 30 years ago and have recently rediscovered the restaurant. Can recommend the food and venue.

Ordered over an hour early to ensure delivery on time. Waited until it was 12 mins late before phoning to find out where it was. Apparently sent earlier - we are 6 mins away by car. 30 mins later it arrived cold. Awful.

Idealmente situado al otro lado de la calle de la cervecería moderamente grande Micropub Chesterfield para el viernes por la noche fuimos al curry. Me quedé muy impresionado con la decoración agradable y personal, y después de sólo una corta espera nos dieron una mesa. La selección de la comida era muy buena y muy agradable para comer el chapati particular me pareció un poco sabroso y más gruesas de lo normal. Un último comentario este es un pequeño restaurante con un servicio tan concurrido llevar no prisa simplemente disfrutar.

Fuimos para una comida familiar en 12/ 11/ 2016. La comida era bastante buena, pero el servicio era terrible. Nuestro camarero siendo casi 40 si sabía su nombre sin nombre y la vergüenza, él era brusco todo era un problema, incluso cuando la mesa fue borrado dejan comida y portazos placas sobre hasta el punto que comenzamos a reírnos nos sentimos tan incómodos. Nunca volveré de nuevo.

Had a really good meal, with really good service. The only problem I found is the waiting area gets quite full and delivery drivers are constantly in and out. I had chicken pathia, and I would say it's the best I've had anywhere.

Only been to west bars for the past 20 odd years , the food has had its ups n downs , but I've got to say the food now is back to how I remember it being (best in town) it's verrrry busy but when waiting remember there is a load of time that nobody has even touched .....

I had a takeaway here and probably the worst I have ever had. I've heard it's nice to eat in but it's no excuse when you spend £25 for two, I couldn't finish it it was that bad.

Second time we've visited as a group. The food was good as was the service. Not sure if it was a one off, but this time round most of this dishes were hotter than the previous visit. The Madras was particularly spicy.

My husband and I came here after a evening out what a mistake. The food was dry and awful,we ordered a masala that had no sauce????we asked the waiter and the chef made us a bhuna sauce. Defiantly would not recommend .

Having been a regular here for the past three years and gradually noticing a decline in the quality, it reached an all time low level of unacceptable this week end.

Si nunca has estado en este restaurante, te estás perdiendo de la mejor cocina india en la ciudad. Decidimos, con poco tiempo de antelación para comer allí el viernes por la noche. Llegamos a las 8 de la noche y el lugar estaba lleno (No habíamos reservado con antelación). Sin embargo, sólo tuvimos que esperar unos 10 minutos para una mesa para venir gratis y nos tomamos una copa en una pequeña área de descanso. El restaurante estaba haciendo un negocio ajetreado en llevar, como una corriente constante de clientes y conductores de taxi llegó a recoger packed comidas. No puedo hablar de la calidad de la comida, pero la comida que pedimos estaba excelente en todos los aspectos y con un precio muy razonable. entrantes de langostino de Tandoori con poppadoms y encurtidos. Principales; cordero Madrás, gambas byriani brinjal bahji, hendidura Aloo pulao y arroz. Todos los deliciosos y el tamaño de las porciones generosas. Por supuesto que habíamos pedido mucho para comer. Tome los contenedores lejos estaban explícitamente.

We have been using westbars for many years , but someone advided us to try a diffrent one and we did and we liked it but for a special night with friends we went back to the west bars we new had tryed them before , however it will be are last time first we gave the order and was told 30 mins to 45mins it came 1hour and 10 minutes late , the food was cold the onoin barjee was like pure flour not deep fried , house special was cold, the rice was very greasy , no mango sauce we had to pay for popadom and e payed for two nan bread and didnt get them at all , when i rang the man at westbars driver with your food just around the corner , i asked which corner another ten minutes and we had it when i complained about the missing food oh dear sorry ma when you order again remind me and we will sent it with another order , strange as there wont be another order very dissopointed

I ordered a takeaway delivery on a Saturday night (I anticipated a delay) it rocked up 2 hours fifteen minutes later, by which time my wife and I were in bed (11pm...late one) the driver who was a good bloke understood my frustrations and suggested that I call back and they would give me a discount on my £23 order. I would of been content at £20. But I received nothing but arrogance upon my complaint and the manager simply demanded my driver return the food! Yes west bar, your food is above average, but your complete moronic attitude to customer service and your basic lack of efficiency have now ensured I will spend every waking minute of the remainder of my days leaving damning reviews about your business's! Well done 'Mr manager' you 'won' that one, see you on every Internet forum from here until my death! Yours sincerely an internet marketing sales manager!

Utilizamos para conseguir comida para llevar de este restaurante regularmente, pero nos sentimos estándares disminuyó. Visited the restaurant last night for a family celebration and once again the friendly atmosphere, good service and excellent food made it a great experience. I have visited the restaurant many times over the years and have never been disappointed.

Comí aquí con un amigo en un jueves por la noche sin hacer una reserva. Era bastante ocupados, pero el personal lo resolvieron una mesa para nosotros y nos dieron fisura elegir algo de comida. Pese a estar en la ciudad durante muchos años, no creo que me he comido aquí anteriormente. Fue una buena experiencia y que el servicio era bastante bueno. Me gustó especialmente el pollo charlar como entrante.

Fuimos a celebrar una graduación de amigos de uni, el personal era muy amable, desde el momento en que llegamos hasta el momento de irnos! Cuando audiencia fueron nos íbamos me decepcionó un poco porque me encanta un poco indio a la vuelta de la esquina pero no podría decir que no, pero también mi sorpresa, me gusta la comida más aquí. We always go to west bars at least 2/3 times a month. One of if not the best Indian restaurants in Chesterfield. We dine in or take away and never have a bad meal well worth a meal!

Vine aquí a última noche con mi pareja y comida era una maravilla, yo le recomendaremos el pollo tandoori masala a cualquiera- fue genial! El servicio fue bueno pero no el mejor que he recibido, el único inconveniente de la comida era los inodoros, nos fuimos el viernes por la noche muy concurrida y sólo hay un cubículo así que tendrás que hacer cola por gente comiendo lo que es un poco incómodo. Sin duda que volveré para la buena comida.

Viajamos Europa revisar casas de curry y este es nuestro representante y favorito. Recomendamos especialmente pollo poor madras- max estilo, brinjal Khybar especial y cordero. Tienes que probar el arroz kulcha. Grandes Sambucas flameado y cerveza mangostas. Pide Sundar y Abrok y te cuidan.

Comida fantástica en o para llevar ... Mi marido y yo hemos comenzado a viajar aquí para un curry después de los pequeños en nuestros pueblos circundantes han convertido en diabólica. Siempre deliciosa (y caliente en la temperatura cuando pedimos comida para llevar). Las raciones son abundantes y por un precio extremadamente razonable. La única crítica es en ocasiones cuando tenemos sábado en que hemos notado prisa ... Pero quizá sea también a nosotros a pedir más tiempo antes de que el próximo curso.

Una primera visita para nosotros a West bares Tandoori en vez de nuestro habitual al final de la carretera. La comida era muy buena y había un buen ambiente, con casi todas las mesas. La única desventaja es que desde mi punto de vista era el servicio, que posiblemente impide esta es una calificación excelente. Reservamos una mesa para las 7.30 de la tarde pero era 9:00 por el tiempo que teníamos nuestra comida principal nos trajeron. En este momento el restaurante estaba vaciando con por lo menos un tercio de las mesas vacantes. El restaurante en sí es bastante moderno y bien decorado, lo más importante son las mesas no estaba atestada juntos. La entrada a los baños podría ser un poco mejor diseñadas, aunque si tienes una mesa cerca, se puede estar comiendo su comida con olores regulares de ellos. Pero yo le daría otro ir, pero sin duda no puede renunciar a nuestro regulares.

First time used this takeaway, usually go elsewhere but after reading reviews & word of mouth thought we'd give it a try & must say was not disappointed. Excellent service,friendly staff & superb food. Well worth a visit. Defiantly will be back.

We ordered a take away from west bars and had a completely different order delivered. The customer service was very poor when they were contacted. Correct order was delivered and we we're ask to pay again and return other order. Very disappointed.
