The best restaurants serving British food in Cardiff South Wales

The quality of the coffee became better and they serve V60 now. Guys in the shop are really good. The only issue there is the shop is always smells like something moldy or musty. This makes the place not nice.

Atmosphere is wonderful and very peaceful, food is passable. Staff are quiet and helpful. Ordering process is uniquely hands off. I had some nice banana pancakes for a late breakfast; however my review is necessarily poor because after my last visit ended I was violently ill when I got home for roughly 20 minutes, and then voided my bowels for another 10. As such I can’t recommend you eat here.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Thomas. Abi was attentative, thorough and professional making excellent cocktail recommendations. The food was outstanding, delicious and fresh. All in all I would 100% recommend Thomas to everyone!

You must try the welsh cake also if you are in Cardiff Bay area. Fantastic and delicious welsh cakes. 0.6£ March 2025

What a beauty of a place. Popped in here for a breakfast on break with 3 work friends. The food was spot on. Served hot & fast. Highly recommend. Nice friendly staff too

I’ve never written a review before but had to rave about this place! Only wish I had found them sooner. The most attentive staff and everything was so fresh and delicious. Couldn’t fault a thing

My girl and I had a tremendous birthday lunch comprising the Short Taster 7/8 course menu - we couldn't do the wine pairing as we were driving (cue violins). Each course was a delight - small plates as per a taster menu, each was packed full of flavour, impeccably cooked and an exciting experience. It's difficult to pick favourites so I won't - it was all fantastic. I thought the lamb dish needed more beetroot. The service was faultless, as is the decor. I'd prefer jazz on the playlist, but that's just a personal preference. Worth every penny.

What a cracking place for breakfast. You can see in to the kitchen and the food was proper home made. I got homemade scrambled eggs, light and fluffy.

This is the second time we have been to Yans for an early evening takeaway. Neither time has impressed. First visit - early 2024 - hubby had fish and chips. No major complaints, he rather enjoyed it. I ordered (and paid for) chicken curry with chips and rice (half and half). Got home to open my curry to find there was no chicken. Not a single piece - just rice and sauce with my chips separate. Gutted and highly irritated especially as I’d been charged handsomely for the chicken curry.. Second time - 28 Feb 25 @ 18.45 - I ordered a chicken burger and small chips. Hubby again had fish and chips. Got it all home. Batter on the fish was v thick and not cooked through. Chips were on the underside of being cooked. Very soggy. My chicken burger was a total disgrace. £4.25 for a soggy battered chicken fillet in a bun with a splodge of sauce. Advertised as all burgers coming with salad and crispy onions. Neither were present. It was the worst chicken burger I’ve bought in many many years.. total waste of £20. We live just too far away to get back into the car and take the food back after getting home. Tried calling a number of times to raise the issue but no answer. We won’t be back. Real shame as Yans came recommended but there’s clearly a quality control issue and standards are really low.

I had the brunch traditional breakfast it was absolutely amazing I couldn’t fault it in anyway at all, also the ice caramel lattes are brilliant

We had a lovely Sunday lunch. We had pork, chicken, and the vegan option. The chicken and pork were delicious along with a nice mix of veg, leek gratin, and roast potatoes. The vegan option was something that our vegan wanted to choose (as opposed to being an afterthought offering). Relaxing environment with great service. We booked 2 days in advance with many timing options.

This a supurb Cafe. Their baguettes are always delicious and a very reasonable price !! All the staff are very friendly, helpful and attentive ! Plus the breafasts are great too.
