Very generous portions, rich flavours and lovely staff

In my opinion there is NO other place in Cardiff city centre to get a salad … other than Bombers! I cannot rate this place highly enough! If you go there in lunch time the queue speaks for itself … and there’s a reason everyone is waiting … because the food is awesome. The salads are “build your own” and you can choose from their freshly cooked meats available that day. I’ve been there a few times and every time it’s been delicious. Thank you Bombers!

Really enjoy the wraps and salad boxes with or without a jacket potatoe. Portion size can vary depending on who serves you, but in general a good portion of food, price has recently gone up but the amount of chicken you get has gone down.

I’ve been going to Bombers for the last couple of years and really enjoyed their meat salad boxes. But recently i have noticed a dramatic change in the amount of chicken you get. Today I was offered half a chicken breast! Come on Bombers at least be honest in that you are cutting down your portion sizes and not try and convince me it’s always been like that !!

For as long as I've worked in Cardiff city centre, Bombers has been a staple of my diet. Originally I started visiting here for sandwiches, but soon became a convert to their salads. For less than £6 you can get two different kinds of meat (which are consistently delicious), along with piles of salad choices. Not only is this affordable, but my god its filling. On top of the amazing food, the service is always friendly yet quick, the perfect combo for all us lunch break worker bees. Next time you're in town, go check out what the fuss is about. You won't regret it!

If you live in town in a apartment and you are absolutely hungry this place will fill your appetite with ease. They various options but they know for spicy jerk chicken ,Thai chill chicken and a few others.but the good thing is it's all healthy whether its in a giant bun with salad or in a jacket potatoe . Trust me you need to check this place out only come here if you haven't eaten for the last 48 hours 😂😂😂😂

A bit of a walk from Capital Tower, but very good lunch options. Tasty jerk chicken, and good portions. Good value for money and a top pick for lunch. Place is quite small tho, 1 or 2 tables inside, and there is a queue at lunch time. Worth it tho.

Being a Catholic and not eating meat on a Friday you'd think that a sandwich bar would have a selection to choose from? Not so Bombers. Everything on the menu was meat based. Really poor choice from this place. Won't use again

Me dijeron que vaya temprano para evitar la decepción de stock que vende, así que llegué alrededor de 11. 30 para almorzar temprano. Mi novio tenía el rollo de que era tan grande que él tenía otra mitad ahorrado para más tarde. Estoy actualmente en un plan de alimentación saludable, así que tuve la ensalada en vez del pan. La ensalada con opciones de carne estaba en 5 libras. 35 una ganga en mis ojos por la cantidad de comida que te dan. Elijo salir de la carne del día sobresaliente y la piña con el pollo piri piri. Tuve mucho en mi ensalada de maíz dulce, cohete, lechuga, tomate y cebolla roja, pepino. Estas fueron unas de las pocas opciones que podría haber allí era mucho así que no te aburrirás. Me gustó mucho y volveré.

Why people rave over bombers I'll never understand? Have I missed something? Such a pokey little place, extremely narrow entrance which force you to wait on the street til people leave to make space, then the food is basic bog standard! Also spotted the proprietor shopping at Cardiff indoor market for alot of his ingredients such as bread etc, not exactly top notch is it!? People are very easily pleased if they think.it is something special, can buy exactly the same and cheaper at the indoor market? Baffles me as to why people queue up there?.

On entering this establishment it is easy to notice how narrow the doorway is, followed by half dozen steep steps minus a handrail,,,,,, no disabled access!? Also the meat can sometimes be very dry and salty,,,,,,, not much variation either,, people probably go there for convenience more so than to rave over the food as there are much better places to eat nearby with much better access

I often go here for my lunch, it's no surprise Bombers has won sandwich shop of the year in the past!Always a delicious choice of fillings, never overly complicated, generally 2 or 3 choices of chicken and a 'special' option of varying meats, sometimes exotic. All in all great value, a lovely range of salads and sauces and a meal deal for even better value for money!I will continue to return every time I fancy a sandwich for lunch, top tips: arrive early rather than late as they tend to sell out by about 2pm and the big boy will satisfy you for lunch and dinner!

Every time I have visited the staff have been extremely friendly and the food has been excellent. I love Spicy food and they always have something that hits the spot!

If you want to eat on the go then this place is a must. The best sandwichs in town (good as New York Deli) always busy and closes around 2:30 pm. Everything done fresh each day and the specials change every week, so always something new. Good choice of breads and salads and prices are very good value for money.

Its tucked away and easy to miss, so keep your eyes peeled.Its a locally owned and run shop with very friendly and chatty staff.Its a bit of a cult shop locally with some people raving endlessly about it. It is many many times better than any chain equivalent (greggs/subway etc...), but I don't understand the cult status. Some of the food is really very good, but some (especially the chicken breast) can be a little dry. The large circular roll I also find a little dry. Its good, I've been half a dozen times and will go again when I fancy a change... it doesn't displace New York Deli as #1 sandwich shop for me personally though.

Went in April off the back of the TripAdvisor reviews. Absolutely awesome. Walked in to find freshly made WHOLE chicken breasts that they let me try so I could test the heat, then out it in some lovely fresh bread with a choice of really fresh salad. So fresh and tasty and so filling. That nice that I brought another one to take home for my dinner. Go...you won't regret it

Fantastic service, but you'd be very lucky to get some before they run out, I work across the road so it's easily accessible for me, but might be hard to find if you're not sure of the area, but I'm sure if you go out of your way to find it you won't be dissapointed!

While I was working Cardiff I'd have lunch here every day. Great food at a great price and good for you. Since moving away from the city I'm having withdrawal symptoms.

Saying that, I do think it's a tad pricey for the salad and meat option when you include cheese - £4.80. I'd say £4 would be about right. One day I didn't have the cheese and it was £3.80 so I guess they are just charging a lot for the cheese!The guy who owns the place is great, but I've found the women who work there can be a little rude when you ask which meat is which. A few times I've been told in no uncertain terms 'there's the menu' as if I was an idiot and id totally ignored the sign or something. I can see the menu but I'd just like to know which one is which.So much choice with the salad and meat plus different bread options. Always busy which speaks volumes. Perhaps drop the prices slightly and you'd be even more popular! All in all yummy fresh food which is hard to beat for your working lunchtime takeaway in Cardiff.

Now a lunchtime staple. This place is getting too damned popular. I have to queue out the door! Food is top notch, my favourite is the one meat salad box. That is a chicken breast (or gammon), freshly cooked and still warm in a spice level of your choice (perk bomb ghost chilli, whoah!) Then the tray is stuffed with salad and an awesome sauce of choice to top it off. Love it! The staff are awesome, super friendly, and accommodating. This is a winner on so many levels. You need to try this place, just not when I'm queueing for my lunch!!!

I had the toastie on the specials board and my partner had a sandwich that the staff recommended. Both were amazing- and great value for money. We'll be back to work through more of the menu. The staff experience was also really good. We took our one year old who isn't easy to please, and they gladly accommodated him by making him a little something. Small things like that mean a lot. All the girls working were helpful and friendly. Can't wait to go back.

How did I not know about this place until now?!Went here for lunch and didn't really know what I was doing, the beautiful young lady kindly assisted and explained how I build my bomber and pow, one beast of a delicious sandwich fit for two sittings, cheap too!! A swift visit this AM after spending a while trying to find the place but what a great visit it was. I had seen a few options online of tandoori, Thai special etc and I had half an idea of what I wanted... That was until I walked in and saw"Big dog special"So without hesitation that's what I ordered. The service was great. I was actually served by a lady who was in her first few days of working and had to ask a gentleman (who I believe was the owner) to show her how to make the big dog. He was there instantly to help her which obviously sped up my service, that's a big plus in my bookAn owner who clearly loves his venture!The big dog. Food is freshly cooked everyday and there is a huge choice of salad and sauces. Rolls are as big or small as you like but always filled with a good portion of meat and as much salad as you dare put in the roll. I put a little to much in and struggled to eat respectably but then that's half the fun getting it over your chops. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the place is very clean. Bombers is always there for me whenever I want to brighten up my lunch break, the baby boy sandwich meal deal is £3.50 which for me is great vale for money when all the ingredients are so fresh. The daily specials add to the fun of the venue as there's always something different. Bombers is a must visit for food lovers.

This place is tiny. A small doorway, half a dozen narrow steps, serving as both entrance and exit means a forming que (there is always one) has to breathe in, whilst the lucky ones squeeze past with their food. Once up the stairs you can see the food, the fresh bread and the small piles of meat that have just come out of the oven. If you're looking at the meat or the welcoming staff you've looked passed the fresh & colourful salads. The menu changes daily to reflect the chefs choices. There are usually several levels of heat or flavours of chicken breaststroke that are sliced just for you and then you're passed over to the salad section. Make your choice from a large selection of freshly cut, good looking salad and it costs no extra. An "inbetweener" (my regular choice) is a approx a 10 inch sub with chicken and salad only costs £3.50. So you have good fresh food, good service and reasonable prices. Perfect. We'll done Bombers keep up the great work.

I work just around the corner from this place, and a colleague at work has recently introduced me to it.It's the best place for lunch around. For £4.95, you get 2 freshly cooked chicken breasts, marinated in a range of different spices/flavours, ranging from Ghost Chilli hot to mild herb. I had the BBQ chicken which was stunning. The chicken was succulent and cooked fresh. You can then chose to have it in one of the fresh baked breads or as a salad box.I had the salad box, which you get lots of, which a choice of a number of dressings. The salad is so fresh. So many "salad" bars in cafes in town just serve a number of items swimming in mayonnaise, but this salad at Bombers is fresh and tasty. I had rocket, iceberg, onion, cous cous, beetroot, red cabbage etc etc, stunning!Would highly recommend this to anyone in the area. Excellent value, great service. But get there early, as it gets busy!

Decidimos acercarnos a probar los bocadillos tras ver las buenas críticas y las imágenes tan suculentas. Lo principal a saber es que los bocadillos vuelan, así que es esencial ir pronto a comprarlos si se quiere tener opciones entre las que elegir. Al llegar nosotros ya tan solo quedaban la opción de bbq chicken o meatballs, así que elegimos uno de cada para compartir. La chica que nos atendió fue muy simpática y nos ayudó a elegir las mejores combinaciones de ensalada y pan para cada carne. El precio de ambos fue de unas 6 libras, así que estuvo bastante bien de precio. Sin duda recomendaría a todo el que busque algo rápido de comer en el centro de Cardiff a que se pase, es bastante mejor que las típicas cadenas repartidas por todo el Reino Unido.

I eat regularly at Bombers at lunchtime, if you want tasty moist flavoursome chicken , this Is the place to go! They do various types of meat pork, ham or chicken & the chicken is done in different spices of various heat & it's so succulent & tasty I love it ! The fresh salad is in abundance & there is lots of variety. You can have it in different sizes of bread or in a tray , one meat or two meat & salad , they also do baked potato or sweet potato but you need to get there early because they sell out very quick, great value for money , this will definitely fill you up !! A cracking find right in the centre of Cardiff. With an exceptional selection of home cooked meats and fresh salads we were spoilt for choice.A few tables inside and out to sit and enjoy the food and a drink. Child friendly, very friendly and very reasonably priced. Definitely worth finding this place!!

This was my first stop upon arriving in Cardiff, after reading such good reviews. I was so hungry after my journey, and got a gigantic salad topped with roasted chicken and a drink for less than £5. Even though they were very busy with other customers the employees made sure everything was okay with my food several times, and then started chatting with me about my journey. I truly appreciated the wonderful food and the extra effort they made, and was back very soon afterwards.

They have some very interesting and must try specials. all the meat is freshly cooked and displayed in a manner which will confuse you in what to have. the pulled pork was the only major let down, tasted very much like tuna. You can buy the marinades and dry rubs of what they serve on their meats which is a fantastic niche service. You can choose a rather large bap which can keep you going all day. Not as tasty as some of the other lunch spots but still overall its pretty good, more of a 3.5 out of 5.

Great food great staff. Stopped at cardiff on my way to London, had their all time special Vietnamese banh mi. only 3.95. It was delightful. Sour and spicy, the chicken was herby and nicely done. Can't say more.

They will give you freshly cooked chicken marinated in a selection of taste experiences as well as some more casual options. Their big sandwiches are BIG and with a generous amount of filling.. definitely worth the extra dollar.The only thing is would say is get in there quick as if you're on a late lunch all the good stuff will be gone and seating is minimal!

We'd heard reviews about this place for some time but had to wait for a day off to visit as they don't open weekends. Visited this week for lunch, 2 x atomic salad trays & 1 x big boy roll. Plenty of meat per serving - great choice of salad items, although personally would of liked some other greens. Found the BBQ a little too 'vinegar tasting' for all 3 of us but was ok - chicken flavours were great. Noticed after ordering that they do jacket sweet pots which is a massive bonus. Will try that next time. Definitely worth a visit, great value for money & tasty. Be prepared to queue though.

Great choice, great value, super speedy service. 5-6 meat options (chicken, bacon, pulled pork etc) changing daily, with as much salad as you can manage for about £3.50. What's not to love? Get there reasonably early for lunch as they regularly sell out! It's actually a blessing that they are just off St Mary's St as it means those not in the know don't notice it. I'm torn between advertising their awesomeness and wanting to hog it for myself!

Well I have eaten some sandwiches in my lifetime but this was the biggest and the best. The staff were so friendly and helpful, I got there around 11.45 and all the food had just come out of the oven so was so fresh, this is one of Cardiff's hidden gems when it comes to food.

I came to this sandwich shop just across from some offices from a recommendation from a friend. I was not disappointed, I always have the big boy, crisps and a drink and it comes in under £5. The specials change daily and are far from boring.

I know this is Tripadvisor heresy but..... I don't agree!Bomber's is certainly a very decent place. The staff are terrifically friendly and the menu has some imagination behind it, especially the marinated meats and sauces. However, I wouldn't say it's the best in Cardiff. Disappointments for me: the bread which is fairly dull, packaging (I don't really like wasting a big polystyrene tray, although I think I'd have got a paper bag if I'd been quicker off the mark) and, most importantly, the muted flavours. BBQ pulled pork was the headline meat today and it really lacked flavour, as did the salads which were all of fairly low-end quality. If you're into big portions and want to lunch on a budget the Bombers is still better than most, but if you want punchy flavours, freshly baked bread etc. I'd much sooner go somewhere like Fresh or Torre, both a few minutes away.

I was in Cardiff City centre today 14/8/14 with my daughter and we just wanted a take out snack.....I quickly looked up Tripadvisor on my mobile and chose Bombers on the reviewsWOWIt's only a small place just across the road from the indoor market, not to difficult too findYou simply must pay this place a visit !!!We were lucky as we just beat the rush because no sooner we were ordering the place filled up with customers queuing out the door !!!My daughter had a filled roll which looked awesome and I opted for the two meat salad @ £4.95I could have had a third meat for an extra pound but I saw the guys box in front and decided against it lol.My portion could have fed two people,the chicken was really tasty and the mixed salad really fresh.Value wise you couldn't fault it and you were served like military precision along with a smile.Verdict. 10 out of 10We'll definitely be back !!!

Went to Bombers today with wife and granddaughter, this is a lovely little sandwich venue, we ordered 2 rolls to take out which we're crammed full of meat and salad, we took them home and shared the first one which left us full, second one in the fridge for later, all in all this is a well worth the visit with lovely fresh prepared food and very pleasant staff, try it, you will not be disappointed.

I've been eating here since it pretty much opened, great food, Perc Bomb Chicken is awesome.Friendly staff, reasonable prices too.Half of my office now eats there also!
