What a beauty of a place! Food was so delicious, reasonable price and great choice on menu! We were celebrating my parents ruby wedding anniversary and they got a cake for us! Beautiful special touches that made our experience even better. We also had 5 children with us and they were so accommodating to them. Made what could've been a stressful time a lot more relaxed. 100% take a visit.

Top quality food: excellent flavours and a lovely atmosphere. Ram was a very attentive and charming host.

This restaurant is a real gem. I've eaten here twice, both times for lunch and both times I've been impressed with the cuisine.. however, that's not why I decided to post this. The gentlemen at the front is an absolute legend.. warm and friendly, his smile lights up the room.

We were finishing up a trip in south wales and wanted warm Indian food to finish off the trip with, we found this restaurant and made advance booking for 8 of us, coming to the review of the food- it is super delicious , extremely tasty authentic Indian food. Anyone who wants to try the real taste of Indian food should definitely try this place.

Tried the fish thali. The prawn curry and salmon curry was amazing. Service was good too.

Lovely quaint little venue, with very friendly and hospitable staff. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere, highly recommend visiting. If you need to park nearby, check out Severn Road Pay and Display, you get 2 hrs free and it’s a 2min walk!

We had a vegetarian and chicken thali. Perfect amount of food with fantastic balance and flavour. The waiters were friendly and very kind to my young daughter. Will definitely be returning.

A really lovely place. A warm welcome and a nice ambiance. Really good South Indian food. The samosa ragada chaat was just superb and the main course of Allepy fish curry was also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Recently visited for the first time. The food was outstandingly good - I'd say it was the best curry I've ever eaten. What a great restaurant.

We were not paid to say this, but we were surprised it was so good. This is an absolute gem 💎 ✨️ possibly the best South Indian food in the UK, using fresh ingredients, excellent spicing in carefully prepared dishes with good portion sizes - the simple mains and chutneys were amazing. Great for vegetarian and gluten free food. The service was exemplary, friendly and knowledgeable. The staff care deeply about offering good food and they succeed to deliver a great meal in a lively environment. We had idly chaat, bajis, veggie thali and masala dosa followed by gaggar ki halwa and masala chai. Absolutely recommend to anyone, enjoy!

Excellent food...loved the saag paneer we ordered. We had it with Parotta. The samosa Ragda chaat is yummy, and I would highly recommend it. The thali looked interesting and would have loved to try it, but may be another visit is on cards, so I will try then...sorry didn't take any pictures of the food was too hungry to take any. But if you do want to taste South Indian food, this place is best. Also, I would advise that you better book the table and go as they get booked up pretty fast.

Delicious food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Three of us got the Thalis (veg, fish, meat) and each one was really delicious and authentic. Amazing starters of samosa chaat and dosa. Will definitely be back!

!!! Altamente consigliato !!!! Sono tornato qui dopo circa 9 anni. Mi ricordavo di una incredibile salsa lemon pickle. Sono rimasto colpito anche di più della prima volta. Il cibo ha una qualità incredibile e il personale sorridente e accogliente. Ho chiesto per la famosa salsa lemon pickle e mi hanno anche offerto una piccola scatola da portarmi a casa. Tutti noi quattro abbiamo preso il Thali vegetariano e anche i miei amici hanno detto che é il miglior ristorante indiano di Cardiff. I miei amici dicono che é il cibo indiano più fresco e croccante che abbiano mai avuto. Tornerò sicuramente ogni volta che passerò per Cardiff.

We visited as a group of five adults, and ordered a large cross section of the menu which we shared. Everything was very good and some things truly excellent. We particularly loved the dosa, thali and chicken saag. Service was friendly and staff dealt well with one of our party with a nut allergy. They also had a tasty selection of vegetarian dishes. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Visited Mattancherry on our trip to Cardiff. Looked okay from outside but the food was amazing. The taste was superb and the staff were nice. It was a great Indian dinner.

Much better than your standard curry house, with traditional Indian dishes that you don't find in mainstream restaurants. Some amazing flavours and textures in the dishes that we had, I would happily go here again and again! Indeed, now been nearly a dozen times just this year!

I visited matancherry restaurant 2 days in a row with my family. The food was delicious. Service was impeccable and the ambiance was nothing short of cozy and amazing. Highly recommended. Would definitely drop by again if I’m ever in Cardiff.

Googled the restaurant as we were near to the Sophia gardens and little kochi was too busy for its regular customers. Tried masala dosa , Allepey Fish curry, Kerela Parothas One of the best Kerela food / South Indian restaurants in Cardiff Service is great as well

Excellent food choices, you could have a good family time. Cozy place to hangout with friends and family.Friendly staff, Mr Ramachandran will take care of your food needs, to suit your palate.Mainly Indian cuisine, their lunch thali, biryani and Malabar porota will give memories from India. Their garden dining is a perfect place for small party.

Its good restaurant. But in my opinion the the food is limited .The price is little high also. There is no parking for the restaurant but with in 0.1 mile there is a public car park so parking is not a problem .lot of space in the hotel . When the first view its look a small hotel but its a big hotel with lot of chair capacity . And one of the most important defect is there is no good hand wash place . We need to wash hand in the toilet and the toilet is also very bad .

Fantastic authentic Indian food. We had Massala Dosa followed by a chicken & a lamb thali which were both great. We'll recommend!

The service here is exceptional, with genuine effort made to look after you. The Thalis are really good value for money, great quality, and really consistent. Highly recommend for a lunch or casual dinner.

This is my 3rd time at Mattancherry in Cardiff and I’m still blown away by the quality of the food and the best service anywhere. The food is well spiced and you can adapt the level on request. Can’t recommend highly enough 👏

We ordered a delivery and got the chicken & cranberry and pork with apple sauce yorkshire wraps - loaded with meat, roast potatoes, stuffing, spinach, gravy and sauce. We also ordered the roast potatoes as a side. Food was incredibly tasty, hot, fresh and filling! And delivery was fast. The photos don't do the food justice. 10/10. Would Yorkshire pud from here again!

Not impressed at all. Really rough crowd. Food dubiously overpriced for what feels like an Iceland buffet. No home cooking here. Lacking in atmosphere and looks out on a busy junction. Much better food and drink to be found further down the road.

We travelled 10 miles just to try the food after seeing the pictures on Facebook and we were not dissatisfied. There’s a depth of flavour to the food I’ve rarely experienced and I could bath in the gravy!! We ordered a pulled pork and a pulled beef Yorkshire wrap and the beef dirty fries. The portion sizes are very good and the food filling. The quality of the food is excellent, no cheap ingredient fillers are used and the flavour combinations are sublime. It’s well worth the journey and priced very reasonably. I really recommend you give this a try and, like us, you’ll be back for more!

Attended a recent party there, although the buffet was tasty and food was edible, it would not have stretched to the 40 the chef said he would cater for, more like 15/20. but not all of guests were able to make it- so thankfully enough food, just the principle, as it cost £365 for the food 😳 We had prearranged vegan options to be told on the night by staff- this was the first they had heard of it ( obviously not their fault) and the chef had now left. We had also previously spoken to staff and requested older music for the party, we were told to ask the DJ on the night, who will play requests. On the night when we handed over staff a music list for the DJ to play- we were told it was a actually a reggae night and the play list was already arranged. So that was that! 😳 £100 for the VIP room/DJ, so total price price paid £465- quite an eye opener of an experience.

Spent a really great afternoon watching Wales v England. Lovely staff couldn't do enough for us.Excellent meal with great choices. Definitely planning another visit soon. Stayed for disco later too!

Visited for my daughter's 21st birthday. There was 14 of us with everyone eating. From the moment we entered everything was great. Service, friendly staff along with the high quality food and the place is very clean and attractive throughout. For such a big group we never had to wait long to order and have the meals served up and always had drinks. Highly recommended

Visited for a Sunday lunch with family and would highly recommend. The food was outstanding for the price and we all enjoyed. The waitress was brilliant and very attentive, checking if we were ok with everything and needed any more gravy etc. Overall a very nice meal enjoyed in very nice surroundings. Beautiful, stylish, clean, airy interior, with a relaxed atmosphere. Lovely little seated area outside, perfect for that summers evening chat and catch up with friends, for drinks that won’t break the bank and a food menu that will not disappoint in excellence and price. What can I say, I’m already hooked. Friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door till the time you leave. Something Canton had been lacking for a long time. And I can’t wait for my next visit.

I’ve just visited the venue for Sunday lunch & very disappointed. I had the beef which was okay, but a bit grey and nowhere near what I’d expected. The Yorkshire pudding I left as it was totally inedible (and I love a Yorker), the roast potatoes didn’t have much colour to them & the veg looked as if it’d been reheated. I had hoped that a dessert would make up for the mains, but the choice was so uninspiring I didn’t bother. Overall the place lacked atmosphere and the tables/chairs setup reminded me of a canteen. The ‘Merlot’ I chose was probably the cheapest they could find. I won’t be back.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is out of this world. I can not reccommend the Sea Bass enough. Staff are brilliant, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

The food was awful. The chips and onions rings tasted like they were old and microwaved, and the pizza we ordered wasn't even cooked so it was inedible. The burger was satisfactory.

Food turned up cold as it arrived late, an item was missing and after speaking to the restaurant twice over the space of 2 hours and them promising it would be sent, it never arrived.

Delivery was really fast 30 minutes early My usual pizza place was closed (Yummies) so tried here for first time and regret it. Pizza places should never be allowed to use frozen bases. Burger cheap horrible meat. Just not a quality products. Cheap though.

Took my money, waited an hour and a half (estimated 1hr) did not deliver food. Skint, hungry, not happy. If you're not gonna be able to deliver, let me know, I'll deal with it. Don't just ignore me. Now I'm hungry and very very annoyed as nothing else is open.

No onions on the burger the kids drinks in with the hot food so they where warm and bbq dip in with the wedges so the sauce was hot and the packaging melted and they where late by 20 mins

Tbh I expected more .pizza was freezing ,Chips were nice but cold .all in all on this order 4/10 if it had been warm or just not cold I think it would of been nice 👍🏻

The last time I had a doner kebab here it was too salty but something’s radically changed as my partner had one and it was AWESOME, I was jealous that I had pizza lol which was also gorgeous. Haha. Next time it will be 2 kebabs. Drinks nice and cold and I love your garlic sauce. Thank you xx

The food was cheap and cheerful - you get to what you pay for. I was starving when I ordered my food but I felt gross after realising that I’d eaten this soggy greasy mess. The buns were moist and the meat wasn’t great but some of the things were tasty. I probably wouldn’t order from these again but ah well, everything was delivered on time and the delivery man was friendly.

Got my order all wrong. Tried to charge me more delivery to redeliver told me they'd refund me but I doubt they will. Very rude and abrupt on phone. Will have to raise a dispute with bank DO NOT USE THIS TAKEAWAY!!! Cheeky!!!

Lovely kebabs but left a note asking for extra sauces on both but didn't look like they put extra on if they did then they must use very little.
