Canada Lodge in Cardiff

Had our wedding here in October this year it was perfect the venue was beautiful the staff amazing so helpful really made our day less stressful they couldn't do enough for us. The food was stunning all our guests commented on the food and still talk about it now. Not one guest has said anything bad about our day or venue. Would highly recommend canada lodge and lake not just for weddings as also been to their pizza night and loved it.

We had our wedding at the lodge last month and just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the staff for making our day so perfect. From the first meeting the team were great and helped us all the way through the planning process. They are all so thorough and every detail was covered. They are extremely fast at answering emails and nothing is too much trouble. On the day the team ensured everything went to plan and the way we wanted it. The food was hot and all our guests said the quality was fantastic. We used the in house DJ who was also incredible and got all the guests involved. Thanks again to everyone at the lodge for making our day so special.

Just back from a family wedding at this lovely setting for a wedding venue. Right that's the good bit out of the way. Sadly almost everything else was a complete letdown. Don't know about the other rooms but the so called accessible room was a joke. Yes there was a ramp and wider doors for wheelchair access but that was it. NOTHING at all in the way of aids in the bathroom to enable a wheelchair user to use it. Mattress was so thin as to be almost non exsistant. Venue split over two levels so for every part of the day you had move between them with main staircase being a spiral one outside. We were told that there was another one we could use next to the tiny lift which was the only access for anybody with mobility issues or children in buggies. Well now the food, if you can call it that! The beef choice was not too bad but the vegetarian choice, well! A slice from a cauliflower head roasted, grilled or something laid on some mashed potatoes with a couple carrots, a couple of bits of broccoli and some green beans with a sauce. The sweet was a crumble that overpowered with cinnamon and inedible. Chicken nuggets had been ordered for a child only to be told that the burger that was put in front of him was all they had. Oops forgot the soup was ok. The cup of tea was so stewed it tasted like it had been made for a week and reheated. The evening buffet did not give a great choice either. The toilets are badly in need of attention and the disabled access toilets are anything but! One toilet on each floor for each sex when you can have a big wedding there is not enough. This venue could and should be top notch but they seriously need to pay attention to access for all ages and abilities and maybe get a new chef. Day after posting this we find out that the company has been in liquidation since April this year so maybe this was a waste of time!

Love photographing weddings at Canada Lodge

Lovely venue for a wedding and enjoyed our family wedding and made my brother and sister in law feel special. BUT Novia Scotia Apartment not suitable for wheelchair users. We attended my brothers wedding and booked this apartment via them expecting it have adaptations fit for someone in a wheelchair! It only has a ramp! My mum is an amputee so relies on adaptions such as rails, wet room, wheelchair accessible to remain independent. We had to physically lift my mum onto the toilet, move her around in a tight space and pass her soap as even this was too high. The venue is lovely but lacks these facilities/understanding of this! It shouldn’t be advertising as entire unit wheelchair accessible as it is not. Especially as it is a wedding venue and most people will book via family and assume it would be fit for purpose. I would suggest a revamp as it has good potential for these facilities needs a wet room, toilet with a rail on the wall to grab onto, lowered soap facilities. The wedding was lovely and staff were lovely. Just this apartment and disabled toilet that let this venue down! Overall a lovely venue just a shame mum lost her independence and felt embarrassed.

This is a wonderful place very tranquil and peaceful, rooms are lovely looking out to the lake.staff are really friendly and helpful go's above and beyond ..,well recommend if you want to get away from the hustle and busell of every day life.

Went to a wedding there recently, it's a very beautiful location, the reception food was not too bad but the evening buffet was disgraceful, there was very little there, 2 small containers of rice, 2 of pasta, 1 bowl of chicken nuggets a bowl of cut tomatoes and the sandwiches was egg and cress, white bread no brown bread even when asked, there wasn't any other sandwiches, some cupcakes to finish, a lot of people complaining, really not worth the money,

Went to a family wedding at the smaller venue on site, called “RHODRI’s” First of all what an amazing view over the lake, and a great location for a wedding party. The staff were great but the actual room is like a wooden sauna box, so more for a party. The day was very very hot and this room even with its lake location was way to hot with no extra fans to move air around on a very hot. All the window doors where open to the lake but needs some way to cool down the room. Food was very average, if not a little below what is now expected, the best dish was the tomato soup and the fresh roll. There were no alternatives so my wife hardly had anything to eat. The evening was a hog roast which again was average, I enjoyed it as I needed food at this point. To finish the location is beautiful but they need better facilities and need to up the food.

Our wedding day was so perfect and we couldn’t have done it without you all at Canada Lodge and Lake. We knew our wedding day would be beautiful just with your amazing surroundings and venue, but what we didn’t know was how incredibly perfect it would be just for us, the staff were all incredible, food was delicious- those canapés (chefs kiss). We had SO many compliments on our day. It was everything we could have ever wanted and wished for! Thank you so much Canada Lodge & Lake, we can’t wait to celebrate many anniversaries to come with you.

We attended a wedding at Canada Lodge & Lake. Would not recommend, particularly the food! The starters gave us an early indication of what was to come. Among the offerings, the samosa and spring roll were certainly frozen and straight from the supermarket. The main course was an exercise in disappointment. The rice, spiked with inedible cardamom pods, was barely enough to go around. Meanwhile, the three colossal bowls of curry had their own issues. The chicken curry tasted like something you'd find at a fish and chips shop. The vegetable curry was more chili than curry (who puts kidney beans in a curry seriously?), and the lentil curry, while the best of the bunch, was reminiscent of school lunches. The "naan" bread was a paradox—half undercooked and half overcooked, offering a unique combination of doughy and crispy textures. The salad was a minimalist mix of lettuce, red onion, and red pepper, devoid of any dressing or effort. You know something's wrong when they can't even get a salad right! Dessert was a minor improvement. Ice cream and brownies, both clearly shop-bought, but at least edible. A touch of fruit would have been nice, but that might have been asking too much. The long wait times between courses only added to the experience. By the time dinner came around, we were met with a pizza buffet straight from the freezer aisle. These pizzas were heated in batches and kept warm under hot lights, resulting in cardboard crisps that gave our jaws a workout. Some were eating the pizza with mayo just to ease the swallowing. As a side dish, we got plain tortilla chips—no dip, just unadulterated dryness. Thankfully, they provided an open bar; otherwise, we'd have all left completely parched and with sore throats. Despite the subpar food, we still managed to have a good time. The DJ (outsourced, nothing to do with the venue) was great and we spent the night dancing with friends. The venue itself overlooks a beautiful lake and makes for some great pictures. But seriously, do not book your wedding here if you care about serving your guests good food. The no outside catering policy is a trap you don't want to fall into.

Often here doing hair & makeup for bridal parties, always surprised to see swimmers in the lake early morning. A lovely wedding venue with log cabins as accomodation.

We picked Canada Lodge as our wedding venue after doing thorough research & visiting a few venues. As soon as we visited Canada Lodge for the first time, we knew we would get married there as it was just the most beautiful place. We booked one of their wedding packages which was extremely good value for what you received & included everything we needed. From the very start the amazing staff were accommodating & helpful in the process. They really cared & from showing us around the venue to assisting us in the planning they were brilliant in every aspect. Their communication was fantastic and as we lived a good couple of hours away it was a bit tricky to organise but they were there to help us & answer any questions we had. They helped us organise every part of our wedding & they made sure it was perfect for us. I must mention Nicola who is such an amazing lady who helped us a lot throughout & eased our nerves by ensuring everything was taken care of so we didn't have to worry, especially on our big day. I must also give a special mention to the amazing Hollie who is extremely knowledgeable & experienced. She was just wonderful all the way through our experience from the start to the end. Hollie helped us so much, she really put our minds at ease & answered so many questions for us & ensured everything fell into place, she was there holding our hands from start to finish, making sure our big day was beyond pefect. There is nothing that this exceptional lady cannot do for you. You are definitely in good hands with the hardworking staff of Canada Lodge. The accommodation was beautiful, the venue absolutely stunning. Our wedding day was just perfect. The weather, the food, the entertainment everything was just absolutely absolutely perfect. All of our guests absolutely loved every part of it too! I wish I could redo the day all over again! Thank you for everything you did for us Canada Lodge, we cannot recommend you highly enough!

My husband and I got married here on 16th March 2024 and it was incredible! The staff worked tirelessly all day to make our day the most amazing day. They could not have done enough for us and we can’t recommend this venue highly enough! The food from the canapés, to the wedding breakfast and finally the wood fired pizza oven were absolutely delicious and so many of our guests commented the same! The portions were plentiful and piping hot! I hope future couples read this review and their minds are put at ease because the previous negative reviews just don’t ring true to us or our day!! Can’t wait to come back for our anniversaries!

The setting looks amazing and is really peaceful. The apartment I was in was spacious and modern but it had a pretty bad damp problem. The TV reception was spotty and the WiFi was pretty dreadful across the whole venue (I know I should be watching a wedding but come on it's 2023). Breakfast at the little cafe - food was good although a little slow. The wedding breakfast food was pretty poor. Overall very nice venue but perhaps not run as well as it deserves.

Attended a friend's wedding. The room for the ceremony was stunning, and then the room for the wedding breakfast was just amazing. Our friends could not have chosen a better venue to invite us to share their special day.

Beautiful place to get married in. I went for an open day for the wedding venue and it was amazing to see the lake, the greenery around the place and the place itself. The wedding hall is decent size - looks to accommodate 100 people easily. The hall downstairs is a even bigger. There is lots of space available if you prefer an outdoor setting.

Beautiful setting and friendly staff but disappointed at the bar. No soft drinks available at Rhodri's and very expensive too.

Rodri's Food was poor, small plates and something out of an airfryer and the salad was limp and thrown tigether by a child.. not fab, 45 minute wait, supposed to be table service but this didn't happen and as you can see from the pics it wasn't exactly busy !! Had to go to the counter each time to order anything like asking for cutlery and condiments... shame really as a lovely setting but who ever is managing this is letting the rest of the business down.

Great wedding venue. Stayed the night in a lodge. Place was spotlessly clean.

We had our wedding at Canada Lodge in March 2023 and it was everything we wanted it to be and more. The layout of the venue is perfect for everyone to be all together but not feel cramped, the scenery is beautiful and the food and drink were amazing. From the planning stages to the day itself, the staff at the lodge were helpful and friendly, every question, no matter how silly was answered quickly and with a smile. I highly recommend Canada Lodge as a wedding venue.

Have attended one wedding here. The venue is amazing, but i think a recent change over of management or a change around in staff meant lots of changes to the wedding package for the bride and groom, frustrating communication, last minute package details cancelled, then allowed again and an increase in prices wherever possible! Which a lot of couples have been upset with and caused this bride and groom a lot of stress. Their reputation definitely wasn't upheld on this occasion. They are very much a wedding business and pinch or grab every penny they can, but definitely lack appreciation that this is someones big day, that couples are stressed, need help, updates, understanding, professionalism, flexibility and kindness. They need to be careful about keeping their good reputation as recently I have seen a lot of negative feedback on social platforms too. They need a much tighter (and nicer) wedding team to do better in the future.

Staff was friendly and willing to help from the moment we arrived. The wedding party and guests raved about the quality of the meals and the variety of beverage options. Great experience! Was invited to a wedding. First time I've been there. It was lovely as it was wintery weather which suited the venue with the surrounding lodges. The bar staff were lovely and very friendly.

I came here as a wedding photographer and I have to say it lives up to the hype and then some! Every single corner both inside and outside is extremely wedding photo album worthy. The staff are all really nice and a pleasure to work alongside which as a supplier helps immensely. I cannot wait to come back here soon!

Celebrated a family wedding on the 15th October, the venue it self is stunning with great views over looking the lake.The staff I came into contact with was friendly,the ceremony room was beautifully decorated. The food was very disappointing although the main coarse tasted lovely the portion sizes on all 3 coarse were not sufficient at all.The starter was pate with a finger slice of toast,the main was a very small slice of pork, one floret of broccoli, one carrot & 3 green beans & little bit of mash,it was just big enough for a toddler not an adult.If this had been my wedding I would certainly requested some refund for the lack of food.

Had my daughter's wedding here and as a venue Canada lodge is stunning however there was a couple of downs the first one being one of the wine glass,s we broughtfor the happy couple was smashed by the lodge it would not be too bad but they were not cheap however accidents do happen but still waiting to hear of outcome .The socond point which is the big one the meal was not what was ordered the first course was supposed to be a parfett whereas they gave us a Patti the main meal was supposed to be honey roast pork of which was ordinary pork along with a very small portion of mash and I mean small one small carrot three small green beans and a one piece of broccoli as father of the bride I had alot of guest tell me how bad it was and the fact it would not even satisfy a child well infact we did have several small children and yes even they were still hungry afterwards the pudding though it was a bread pudding was no where near the standard expected in all for what was payed per head we got a meal which was only worth about £20 a head and that is being generous even a Michelin star chef which was amoug our guests was totally shocked at what was served for the price we payed it was totally different from the tasting menu as father of the bride the venue the staff was great the rooms lovely but the food was a major let down but will up date this review when I hear of the out come from my daught

We got married at Canada Lodge in June 2022 and it really was the best day of our lives. We fell in love with the venue on our first visit there in 2019 and couldn’t have imagined getting married anywhere else. All of our guests commented on how beautiful it was. All the staff go above and beyond before the wedding day and on the day itself. We would like to especially thank Delyth and Hollie who were absolutely amazing. Highly highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a South Wales wedding venue.

My uncle & wife chose this location for their wedding in June - it was perfect. The location is easy to find and well sign posted. The grounds are beautiful - breathtaking views. There is plenty of photo opportunities to get the perfect wedding shots. Lots of local hotels nearby for anyone wanting to stay over. All in all, a fabulous location!

Wow! What a weekend we had. From the moment my bridal party and I got there the day before the wedding, the staff couldn't do more for us. On the day of the wedding was no change, every single member of staff was so kind and accommodating even calming me down before I walked down the aisle. Thank you so much, the word stunning does not do this venue justice. If you are thinking of getting married here do it!! Special shout outs to Beth for calming me down, Holly for just being so friendly and kind and all the other staff who were just amazing. Thank you for giving us the day of our dreams!

Well what can we say about Canada Lodge and Lake that would do the venue and Nicola and her team justice? Sally and I got married here on 8th June 2022 in Rhodri's and we had the most amazing day ever 🥰💕 All the staff were amazing from the maintenance team to the bar staff, from the servers and chefs to the wedding coordinators. What a wonderful team you have there, you should be so proud! For a venue that mostly delivers weddings, you had the ability to make us feel like we were the only wedding you have ever done. You made us feel so unique and special 💖 A particular mention to Jasmine and Lee who looked after us on the day. We cannot thank you enough for making our day perfect, you were both amazing and so organised, reassuring and calming on the day. Also a mention to Delyth who looked after us at breakfast time, always nice to see a friendly face when you're a little worse for wear! The breakfast was just what we needed 😋 The venue is absolutely stunning, so beautiful and we were blessed with fine weather ☀️ The food in the day was wonderful, so well presented and so tasty. The rooms and lodges are first class, so well kitted out with beautiful views overlooking the lake, all our guests loved them. We had a perfect day in a perfect venue and cannot recommend highly enough. I cannot think of a better venue to get married in, or for your guests to enjoy, absolutely fantastic. What a beautiful place to exchange wedding vows. The food is absolutely top notch The accomodation relaxing and super clean.

What a beautiful place for a wedding so close to Cardiff! And you can stay in the lodges, although we didn't so no idea on prices. Nice seating area outside although there were mosquitoes this time of year. Occasionally there was that Spanish hot day sewer smell too! But staff were lovely, beer selection was OK and bar prices reasonable! Dancefloor just the right size and the DJ that was there was great too!

A fabulous cabin near the lake and breakfast in the morning
