First class, wonderful food, great service, honestly as a person who can cook I really don't like eating out. Unless the place can excell beyond my boundaries.. From the first bite to end it was first class, my daughter the fussiest eater on the planet was blown away.. The service I didn't get her name.. Called her rabbit girl.. Beyond lovely, attentive funny charming informative about the dishes.. First class host..... Just go enjoy indulge and really just realise what a chef can really really do..... No pretentious just wonderful food in a lovely setting.. And great staff !! Especially the rabbit lady Thank you for a wonderful night!

I recently visited with friends and we were quickly seated. Someone came to take our order. We asked for the drinks menu and were told there wasn't one! The waitress didn't have much idea of what wines they had so we just asked for Sauvignon blanc. Perhaps it it a way of hiding the prices? I decided to go for the rump steak, it was cooked perfectly for me but it was quite tough. It was made worse by not having a steak knife, which is a basic? The chips were smothered in salt so I couldn't eat them. Most of our party was reasonably satisfied with their food, apart from the cawl, which was like a child's portion (and expensive) and most felt the food didn't justify the prices. I have had steak in the Wetherspoons a few doors away and it is far better (and alot cheaper).

What a discovery! A gem of a spot, with excellent food and service. There was something quite charming about the Daffodil, and you simply must visit.

Food is actually decent. The brunch menu is pretty varied and the steak was far better than any I've had in more "upmarket" (by their view, not mine!) establishments. Good GF options as well. All in all, well worth a visit if you're in Cardiff and want somewhere to eat/ meet friends/ family.

Sunday lunch here is really good! All the veg sides were really good! We were a table of 5 and all very hungry and left lovely and full! Would visit again. You need to book in advance!

Excellent place in Cardiff to enjoy a good dinner, the soup was delicious and the place very nice. The staff was very friendly.

First server recommended the lamb cawl, which I regretted ordering over fish. While the taste was fine, it absolutely should not have been listed under mains - it was the size of the starter - or priced at £18. The bowl was tiny! The price was even more ridiculous considering that is a dish made from leftover bits. It came with two pieces of sourdough that were a bit dried out on the cut sides. I have been served the same brand of sourdough at another eatery, where I didn't encounter this, so the bread probably was just not so fresh. I asked about the afternoon tea, but the server ignored that and skipped straight to the standard menu. The beer selection was not very good. Only one item was available from the desserts menu - and this was right at the beginning of the evening service! The second server, who brought out the food and brought my bill, did not provide good service. When I was trying to get the plates taken away and the next course (which never happened), she was busy chatting with a party in the back. Also had very strange and awkward interactions with her. The card machine asks for a tip, and she watched over me as I selected my option. At least the toilets were nice.

Lovely lunch, somewhere where we haven’t been before but we’ll be coming back to. Food was fab, not rushed but not slow either. Reasonably priced too.

This place was so good that I forgot to take photos for the review. Superb range of locally sourced foods served by friendly and knowledgeable staff. We will definitely return and add some photos of the delicious food to an edited review!

Very enjoyable meal the gravy needs some improvement the starters ,puddings etc that other people had looked amazing and apparently were amazing 😍

Great gastro pub. Vibrant pub to the front and fabulous restaurant towards the rear. Smallish menu but the food was excellent. Reasonable choice of wines. Will definitely return.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch. We had pork, chicken, and the vegan option. The chicken and pork were delicious along with a nice mix of veg, leek gratin, and roast potatoes. The vegan option was something that our vegan wanted to choose (as opposed to being an afterthought offering). Relaxing environment with great service. We booked 2 days in advance with many timing options.

Found this place by chance when searching for places to eat in Cardiff...... Have to say this place is phenomenal. Didn't book so took a chance on being able to grab a table. Friendly warm welcome. Wasn't sure which red wine to order to accompany my meal, was allowed to sample 3 different wines. Starter and bites were amazing. Pork belly bites were melt in the mouth, scallops delicate flavour with the added crisp provided from the crisp ham. Roast lamb......... Out of this world. Best Sunday roast I've had in years. Dessert was delicious. Eyes definitely bigger than my stomach though.

You have to try their new chicken dish. Omg! Soooo good! Pancetta & Parmesan Chicken - Roast chicken breast in a confit garlic, pancetta & rosemary parmesan cream sauce. Served with new potatoes. Happy hour for cocktails between 4-6pm was also a delight!

21 year old girl working behind the bar refused to serve me and 9 members of my family (women, of all ages) because I didn't know the name of the bar we previously left (not because I was drunk, genuinely because I didn't know the name of the bar) I was questioned because I asked her for a "tinch" of lemonade. I have a valleys accent and maybe that was the reason. Daffodils was empty, so they lost our custom for life.

This is the most unwelcoming place I have ever been to in Cardiff. Went out for a few drinks with family, ages 30-60. Quizzed us at the bar and then offered us a coffee because we "had too much to drink" just because one person didn't remember the name of the last place we had been. Total joke. Think the staff just couldn't be bothered to serve us.

Hidden gem. Lovely food, great staff & service. Fantastic cocktails. Had a lovely meal here with family. Enjoyed it so much will be visiting again very soon.

Visited while down visiting my daughter and visiting the Christmas Winter Wonderland. Very friendly place and we loved the food. 3 of us had the steak and it was cooked to perfection. Will definitely visit again!

Visited on the 26th of November. The food was excellent, reasonably priced, and the service top class. If you're at Cardiff highly recommended! I am looking forward to my next visit.

Came for the roast this Sunday, veggie options was brilliant and I’d recommend the sticky toffee pudding. Chris, our server, was brilliant - great service!!

Group meal for 20 and it was very good. Nice food, pleasant staff and good value

We were here when storm Darragh hit so while we had fabulous service because of the storm it was quite understandably empty. I think the party vibe was missing because of that.

Just No. Sat at the rear of the restaurant in some sort of conservatory right next to the disabled toilet/baby changing area which was filthy and whose door was constantly swinging open and a hand dryer stuck on. People walking through the restaurant with McDonald’s to eat it in the beer garden. I Ordered the chicken breast in pancetta, absolutely no pancetta and the chicken breast had a leg bone in it so it wasn’t chicken breast! The meat was covered in skin and full of cartilage and grisly. For 2 mains and two drinks the bill was £70! We then sat at the bar to kill time before going to the theatre. I asked the waiter for the same Italian wine I’d had with my meal to be barked at that “ I’ve NOT POURED any Italian tonight so you haven’t drunk any Italian wine here”! Which I CLEARLY ordered from the menu. He then proceeded to swear at every ticket he was given behind the bar and go off slamming doors and cupboards! Really unprofessional and unpleasant man. I happily will never go here ever again.

Our second visit and most certainly our last. Food was ok, drinks were too except the cocktails which were below average. 7 of us ate and spent a few hours enjoying our afternoon. We had a bottle of Prosecco a bottle of wine and some French coffees after our meals and upon finishing and paying for our meal and drinks which were in excess of £350, we decided to head for our final drink whilst waiting for out taxi home, only to be refused service as we were apparently too drunk??? I’m writing this whilst at home and am most definitely not! I was was gobsmacked but accepted that was the staffs decision which was relayed by the manager to me at the bar. So returned to my seat, finished our drinks and left to grab our taxi. Manager then appeared a few moments behinds us outside to confront us. Stating ‘I don’t appreciate you bitching about me’ 🤣 wow, just wow is all I can say. He could clearly see we were no where near drunk or slurring. No bitching our end just our opinion that we couldn’t believe that we were treated this way and we were very polite and understanding and left quietly. As a fellow landlady & club manager I have never cared to follow anyone out of the door regarding their opinion. If my decision was to support my staffs say so then the fact I refuse service is enough to know I’ve done my job. To go after a customer who didn’t kick up a fuss of leave drunk (as accused) is absolute nonsense.

Always a great visit here. Very central and ideal as a meeting place.

El personal de servicio sigue siendo muy amable y servicial. Sentí por ellos sacando los platos pequeños.

Laid back feel to this nice place near the theatres in Cardiff. Will definitely come here again.

Una gran elección, tuvimos 3 platos relajados, vino y 2 cócteles por £ 130. Todo el curso fue impresionante, y tenía el mejor martini expreso que he probado. Fue una buena cena en un ambiente relajado con un excelente servicio - volveremos!

Absolutely one of the best club sandwich I’ve ever had. Service was good and the staff is really kind. Great for a late Saturday brunch. I highly recommend.

Gran pub en el centro de la ciudad Hace unas semanas después de la carrera de Cardiff 10 k mis amigos y yo estábamos buscando comida después de nuestra carrera. Tuvimos la suerte de encontrar esta joya. Estaba muy ocupado, pero el servicio era genial y nuestra anfitriona Elena era fantástica. Como estaba ocupado, exceptuamos que el servicio fuera un poco lento, pero ese no fue el caso. Todos tuvimos la cena del domingo que fue genial con muchos lados, y el ambiente era genial Otra ventaja es que es agradable para los perros y mi perro amigo se portó bien y disfrutó de estar allí. Recomiendo encarecidamente visitar para la comida y el precio definitivamente vale la pena.

Fui a almorzar con amigos para ponernos al día después de mucho tiempo. Lo pasamos genial. El personal era muy atento, pero tampoco nos molestó todo el tiempo para que pudiéramos disfrutar de nuestra conversación. Estábamos sentados en una cabina más tranquila y la comida era fabulosa. Todo el experimentado se sintió muy relajado y sin duda volveré

Probably the worst experience I've had, We dinner with them in August about 6 or 7 of us and we had a great time so we came again yesterday for Sunday lunch. 5 of us came, 3 people were told they could not have what they asked for as it had ran out, baring in mind we were not informed at the start, so now people are panicking ordering. Ran out of any Veggie roast by 2pm (absolutely ridiculous) 1 beef roast had to be sent out as wasn't cooked as requested, meaning he ended up eating alone, no offer of fresh hot veg, untill we complained, which actually never arrived.no salt and pepper and when asked arrived towards the end of our meal, no condiments offered either again asked twice and also did not arrive, we rescued apology after apology! excuse after excuses, Our Welsh potato cake did not arrive, What a shocking experience. None of us will ever return and sadly would not now be able to recommend this place to anyone either. I've had a better experience at a pub. how can you run out of so much food by 2pm and not be informed untill your ordering it. if I could give 0 starts I would have. such a shame .. I really hope they do better.!

The worst dining experience I've ever had ! Sunday lunch 2pm , 3 out of 5 starters not available, no vegan/vegetarian roast available, apparently sold out by 2pm on a Sunday! Was offered a vegan burger as a roast instead of the sold out Wellington served with the smallest potion of roast potatoes I've ever seen ! My side order of Welsh potato cake did not turn up at all, we were not offered any condiments,  mustard, apple sauce etc and when we did ask for them they didn't turn up either, the salt and pepper we requested at the start of the meal turned up as we were finishing eating. Medium roast beef came well done and had to be replaced, it took so long our friend had to eat on his own after we had finished eating with cold shared vegetables that had been sat on the table for an hour by then, when fresh/warm veg was asked for it did not turn up either! All in all a terrible experience with very poor food, we were all hugely disappointed.

Nice place to be, lovely welcome form the staff and the premises are very clean and well presented. Not the best selection of beers but enough for everybody. Food was very good, although unusually the veg was cooked better and had a better flavour than the meat. Cheese board is recommended. Will probably come back next time I'm in town but booking ahead is essential.

Such a lovely experience here. Alicja was very attentive and a great host. The beef roast dinner was beautiful and the best stuffing balls ever! Rarebit croquettes to start were beautiful too. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

I often visit the Daffodil and I’m never disappointed. Jen the manager is such fun! Food here is delicious! The Sunday roasts are almost as good as me mams! You can’t go wrong with a roast here on a Sunday, best place in Cardiff for a Sunday roast.

Came here for a last minute lunch and was so impressed. The sandwiches were amazing and the wine list just as good! Elenor served us and was incredible so friendly and attentive. Would recommend.

The perfect blend between pub friendliness and the quality of fine dining. An excellent lamb roast and the vegetables we extraordinary. Wonderful staff and excellent bar tender. The Irish Coffees are particularly good!

Very tasty, reasonably priced, beautifully presented food and friendly down-to-earth staff and atmosphere, would definitely go back.

The food was lovely and well timed. The waitress was not very friendly and slightly spoiled our dining out experience although the waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Genuinely one of the nicest Sunday roasts I've had while eating out. Everything was delicious and well cooked, and the vegetables and gravy sides were very generous

The good points.The bar is very clean and staff welcoming. Toilets also very clean and tidy,how customers with disabilities cope though as I needed to clime a steep set of stairs to reach the men's toilets. I went on a Sunday so base this review on the menu of the day. I chose a starters of lamb kebabs and the roast lamb dinner my companions chose the vegan options and the third member of our party chose olive's and main course of pork dinner. I found the kebabs contained 3 small lamb squares and a mint sauce. The dinner was taste not overly large but adequate, my main concern was the lamb that came with the meal was tough hard to cut and I would have had to my borrow my Gsd teeth to chew some of it. But that was my meal. The others thought the vegan meals were limited in choice but tasty and well cooked and my companion thought the pork dinner was well cooked. To round up I thought the menu a little pricy. My dinner guests would return. I would go again perhaps I chose the wrong option on the day.

Went with work colleagues. Very well organised and the burger I had was delicious. Great outdoor area and conservatory. Couldn't fault it to be honest.

Charming pub with an intimate-style small beer garden. The food is really great, in the upper category for "pub food" ("petite restauration" we'd say in French), much better and refined than a lot of others I've been to. The staff was really kind and joyful. Had a lovely lunch there with friends.

Not the best experience. Cold food , next to nothing service . We carried on eating the food as staff didn’t check on us and we thought might never get sorted . Asked 4 times for more gravy it eventually came when we finished our meal . Condiments like mustard , mint and horseradish were brought in jars with no spoons . Waited ages to be asked if we wanted a dessert and it felt like we were an inconvenience . Won,t be back gone rapidly down hill

The lentil lasagna is delicious and vegan 😊 I am pretty positive everything is handmade and I could taste the love. There is also a private room you can reserve upstairs if you have a larger party.

I dined here with my family for Sunday Roast on the weekend. I was shocked by how rude, unfriendly and unwelcoming the staff were. It did not appear as though any of them wanted to be there and it reflected on their service - their mannerisms and the way they spoke to our group was unacceptable. Very poor experience.

In a group of 13 friends celebrating a 50th birthday yesterday. Had cocktails and dined in the private dining room upstairs--all of our meals were yummy and the service was fab. We will all definitely be back…a lot!

I hardly ever complain in restaurants or leave bad reviews online for businesses which I know are having a rough time at the moment. However, my family and I were just made to feel so unwelcome here I feel compelled to write this. We had Sunday lunch today with 4 adults, 3 toddlers and 2 babies- and the staff couldn't have made it any more clear that they didn't want us there. Despite serving kids roasts they made as feel as though we had inconvenienced them by having children: any reasonable request; some smaller cups for the kids for example was met with a scowl and a curt instruction to use what we already had. When there was a mix up with the main meals we were made to feel it was our fault despite the incorrect meal being put down in front of us. No staff smiled at us or said anything remotely friendly to us or the kids the whole time we were there. We only got one word responses to questions and an attitude on the edge of blatant rudeness. When paying over £120 for a family meal it is unacceptable to be treated this way. We were left wondering if we could have done something to offend them or if the staff were having a joke at our expense.

Wow, what a find this place is. The food is absolutely fantastic, the atmosphere nice and relaxed and the service was excellent. I can highly recommend Daffodil for a family meal.

Came here on Easter for my birthday roast. Was amazing!! Perfect and attentive service and brilliant food. Left with a food coma (in a good way). Thank you to all the staff who provided an amazing experience and the chefs for yummy food.

Great food & ambience, perfect for lazy bank holiday lunch

We asked a passerby to recommend a restaurant, he immediately pointed us to Daffodil. Thank you it was a very good choice. We were won over, as were our children aged 4 and 10. Very very good table.

Early evening pre theatre bite to eat. Taking the time to write this review as the meal we had was outstanding. Will be back!

We visited September 2023, for Sunday lunch. Really hard to find a place that does a non meat main other than a nut roast. We had the halloumi, sourdough and pork belly bites to start. For main I had the vegan option which was wild mushroom, parsnip and sage wellington. I thought it was absolutely delicious and I couldn’t even tell it was vegan (I’m vegetarian). My partner enjoyed his beef too. Will definitely be back!

Loved the restraint went for brunch before afternoon theater mushrooms with cheese on sourdough bread and hash with ham hock and fried egg wonderfully the other was chicken skewers then avocado poached egg and camarthen ham beautifully couple glasses wine Irish coffees to finish would highly recommend

Enjoyed our meal at this lovely gastropub in Cardiff. Warm and welcoming on a wet and cold evening. Excellent choice on the menu. All our meals were well cooked and tasty. Parsnip soup starter was so lovely, I could happily have it for lunch every day. Service was friendly and efficient. Would go back regularly if it was local to me.

Food good, waiters don't write down orders, so forgot 2 things, and really distracting large screens everywhere which repetitively advertise the very place we are already in (and show nothing else)!!

Lovely Sunday roast. Added to our small list of faves

The food in general was pretty good, large portions or the Sunday lunch. Meats were slightly fatty (lamb and pork). However the meal was let down by poor service from start to finish. On arrival there were several empty tables with left over plates and glasses scattered. The table was not ready and we were sat next to the staff polishing cutlery which is not the most pleasant of noises when trying to enjoy a meal. This was followed by a long wait to order, no check back or offer of any additional drinks and then no one deciding to clear our plates. This put us off ordering dessert, and ended up paying at the bar as there seemed to be no one interested. The bar cashier finished it off nicely with not a single thanks following payment.

Unfortunately a very long wait for drinks, poor and rude service from staff. Food was great, couldn’t fault that but the front end staff let it down.

I ate here with two friends prior to going to the New Theatre. We all really enjoyed our food. I had the chicken supreme, friends had the fish and risotto. Washed down with an excellent bottle of reasonably priced v i o g n i e r. Service was prompt and cheerful. Will go again soon.

My partner and I ate here for the first time and wow, this is a hidden gem that more people should know about. The food was so good. The chicken was succulent and tasty, actually might be the nicest chicken I’ve ever had. The menu is a great balance for people who are a bit more adventurous (like my partner) and people who are a bit more fussy (like me). The food is an amazing price for the quality. In fact I think I spent less here for a starter, main and dessert than I would have in a chain like Zizzis - yet the food is 10 times better. No complaints at all, we will definitely be back and I can’t wait to try the Sunday roast 😋

Visited with friends for dinner and we were all very impressed with our meals. Beautiful flavours and accomplished cooking. Front of house service also very good. Reasonably priced and deserves to be supported. We shall certainly be back. Thank you Daffodil for a very enjoyable evening.

Arranged a dinner for 20 work colleagues from across the country. The online ordering system was easy and worked well. We were given the option of sitting in the Windsor Room or the conservatory. I chose the conservatory which was perfect - 4 circular booths of tables of 5 - great for conversation. Food arrived in a timely manner, was well presented and really tasty. The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful - they were excellent. Some colleagues hadn't ordered dessert but this was no trouble for the staff. I would definitely return and would recommend. High quality, local food in a relaxed and comfortable pub setting at very fair prices. Excellent!!

Went in December and had the set meal and went back today being NYD. Excellent food and service and the cocktails are amazing .
