3rd visit, we love it here, staff/venue/food all excellent. Village is lovely to wander round, lots of lovely walks and when you need to stop for a refreshment the pubs are full of friendly locals. Lots of places to visit, very central for so many places

My son, my partner and I travelled here from Brecon (roughly an hour and a quarter car journey.) This place attracted us with my partner being gluten and lactose intolerant and the entire menu was designed for people like her. We were greeted by a friendly barman and he pointed out to our table for the evening which also had enough room for our sonsâs pushchair. We were then served by a fantastic waitress I believe was called Rhian. Once food and drinks were ordered we had some time to have a look at the warm and comfortable restaurant. Our starters arrived which were meatballs & linguine- absolutely delicious. We then had a short wait for our mains which were lasagne and a burger which were equally delicious! Half through our mains my girlfriend became unwell (something she suffers with from time to time) and Rhian could not be more helpful and understanding. She very nicely packed away the rest of my partners dinner all separately. Rhian also made sure we still went away with a takeaway dessert, the chocolate brownie which is incredible. All of this being amazing I think the finishing touch was the fact that the landlady made an effort to go around and speak to every table eating that evening, a really lovely and sweet person! I fully recommend dining here with or without the intolerances would give 20/10 if I could.

Another great stay with Kurt and his friendly staff. Room was immaculate and clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked. And the pizza during the rugby was stunning although I could have done with a whole one to myself. Singer on Saturday night was great. All in all a great weekend. Only downside - the stairs to the bedroom

I can hardly find the words to describe how special this place is., and I am VERY fussy. Everything - tea, coffee, scones were superb. The lovely owner runs the cafe and post office single-handedly, but still found time to chat and gave us lots of tips about local places of interest. She bakes the cakes and scones herself each day, and it shows - everything tasted wonderful and fresh. She offered us newspapers, and came back to ask if we had enough jam and cream ( we did)âŚ.all the while serving post office customers too. A post office in such a small village is probably pretty vulnerable to closure, so she is a real hero, working so hard to keep it viable and open for the local community. The cafe is tiny, only 3 tables. A local couple there when we arrived were very friendly too, so we had a lovely time in Montgomery. Do not miss out on this place if you are within reach of it, Ivy House is unique and absolutely amazing.

Came here twice in one week while staying around the corner. Very friendly welcome, everyone was lovely! Food was really nice, had something different on both visits and was very happy with the food every time My husband said it was the best mixed grill he had ever had Will definitely return again when visiting the area

We visited whilst on our way down to Builth Wells. A family of 8. Food was fabulous very tasty. Staff extremely friendly and worked very fast to serve our Sunday lunch. Very large portions and a huge bowl of cauliflower cheese unfortunately only one of our party liked that so a lot went to waste. We would definitely recommend! Diolch yn fawr/thank you very much

The food was good but thatâs it , ordered Welsh rarebit but it wasnât what we ordered, it was onion chutney and cheese on top, so totally wrong chefs need training in a dish that we all know so well in wales . But it tasted really good, if we ordered cheese on toast itâd be 4.5/5 , 2 star as it was just cheese on toast. The cawl was okay, but sadly the lamb wasnât shredded it was blocks , so it just didnât seem right. Like it wasnât boiled for the amount of time it should have been and was slightly bland , tasted nice though but not that real cawl that we are used to. Once again tasted nice but a 3.5/5 .
