What a wonderful welcome from the bar maid and some of the locals and to be told Sunday Roast was available. We had Roast Beef dinner and it was fabulous with all fresh veg . We met a lovely German couple too and had a nice chat with them. A great little find we will be back .

Rolled up on my bike after a big day out in the Welsh rain. They put me up for the night, dried all my wet clothes, had a great evening meal in the pub chatting with locals. In the morning a breakfast awaited. I was even given a packed lunch to get me through my days ride as the local shop doesn't open on a Wednesday. Can't rate this place high enough. The owners are so friendly and helpful.

Very rude male ember of staff using foul language. Food wait was so long we gave In. Barmaid was very apologetic, but the male manager couldn't have cared less swearing at customers. Tables where dirty and bookings seemed chaotic, they had no idea how to run the place. This place simply survives due to the lack of alternatives I think. Next time it's Llanidloes for me.

We called in on our way back to our cottage after a day in Cardigan Bay. It was late in the evening and the kitchen had almost closed for the evening. However, the landlord and his staff were very accommodating and welcoming. The food was delicious. Proper home cooked food and very generous portions, but above all absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend pub/restaurant.

I am writing this based on comments from several of my guests who stayed here for our wedding on June 3rd. We married at the nearby glyngynwydd wedding barns and we had sent details of local establishments for our guests, this one came back as the one commented on as the most amazing. They stated the place was clean and comfortable but the welcome was the best they ever had and the owner went above and beyond, even giving them a lift to and from our wedding venue. Highly recommend by several people.

On our way home from visiting family in the Oswestry area we stopped for Sunday lunch and were delighted with the friendly service and especially the value. At only £25 for the two of us....and having a roast beef dinner each, plus drinks, dessert and coffee, we think that the Blue Bell Inn offers excellent value for their meals.

On a trip through Wales with no planning, in terms of accommodation, we stumbled across the Bell Inn at around 4:30pm on a hot day in August, 2022. The fact that there was accommodation, at this time of year, was the first miracle. The room was comfortable, clean and modestly priced. The quick business of securing the room was done amongst laughter and the promise of a pleasant evening after a fabulous day exploring the picturesque Welsh landscape. The locals that frequent this establishment were as generous with their friendship as the owners were with their care. Within half an hour we were left with the feeling that we were old friends returning. Dinner was simple, but delicious. The Meat Pie, outstanding. There was a warmth seldom offered to weary travelers and, I confess, we were overcome by the friendliness and care. Breakfast the following morning was served with a care you seldom find. I am unclear what other visitors found, or indeed, expected but, I for one, would recommend these good people to your care.

I was really looking forward to a nice meal after a hard days’s walking with friends. However the steak and ale pie was disgusting; the pastry was soggy and black underside with the meat overstewed and tasteless. In order to mask the clearly microwaved aged pie, it had been covered in packer gravy which I did not request. It was accompanied by tinned peas and strange tasting vegetables. Thé £30 bed and breakfast was good value but the breakfast was not something I looked forward to after the previous night’s dinner. Sadly I was correct in my judgement and the poor breakfast was served surrounded by packs of nappies, diy tools and flies who failed to reach their destination: an electric fly zapper which I had not seen this side of 2000. My advice up your game as one day you may have competition in the village and you will come a poor second.

We stayed overnight here. Long cycle ride arriving at nearly 8pm. They had reserved us a table so straight in for the food we badly needed. it was hearty food at unbelieveable value (£9 for a lasagne, chips and peas in 2021). Guiness on draught was top notch. Staff (who I think might all have been family) were really welcoming, smiley, thoughtful, helpful. Don't go expecting a foodie's paradise, but definitely go if you want a pleasing atmosphere that won't judge your messy cycling/walking gear. Only downside I could see was the no dogs sign on the back door. Seems a shame considering the sort of market the pub could be attracting through the colder months.

This is mainly a pub for locals. It is very small and noisy, although we were put in an even smaller room at 'the back' to share with an array of coffee machines and a large sofa. Two couples in there would have been a crowd. No issues at all with the food. Tasty, hot, generous, good value. The pub is for sale at present and maybe the new owners will refurbish it - but that might spoil the locals trade. The owners need to smile more. Not my scene.

My wife and I went for a Saturday evening meal - having seen the menu beforehand. Fish and Chips & Beef Curry was our order, and it arrived promptly - the food was above-average, but nothing special. We then waited over 35 minutes before we saw any waiting staff, who only came because we entered the kitchen! No offer of dessert, no coffee, no asking if we wanted the bill. When dessert eventually came - which was fine, we asked for the bill, which was wrong and had to be altered. Eventually we left, somewhat disappointed. Via Messenger I had a sincere apology from the owner. We will not be returning.

The pub is old worldly with lots of character and the customer are all locals who know each other. Staff are very friendly and welcoming however food was a real let down. It looked great on paper but was so disappointing on arrival. The pie crust was overly soggy, the battered fish was frozen and faggots were bland. The gravy served with the faggots was so sparse I had to leave most of the dry mash. It was advertised as homemade. If this was the case it had all been reheated in a microwave. Will definitely not return.

Saturday 11th July 2015 was my wife Pauline birthday,i asked her what she wanted to do and she told me she wanted to have a day out up in the Welsh valleys round Rhayader ,especialy up in Elan Valley(Where the water resevoirs and dams are!)After a wonderful day we went on to Devils Bridge and on to Aberystwyth where we were going to have a celebratory meal. Unfortunately there was a very limited choice of eating establishments that were suitable(we both have to watch what we eat due to allergies!!) All we were left with was a take away chip shop which was not ideal as she said that she didnt want to have her birthday meal "Out of a box!!" So we decided to head home and take a chance on finding a suitable restaurant. At Llangurig we came upon the Blue Bell Inn which said meals and B+B. We decided to stop and have a look at the menu. On entering the establishmeant we were greeted by the man behind the bar in a pleasant manor and asked what we wanted,we told him we were after something to eat and he showed us to a table and menus. What a choice we had,we both plumped for a homemade vegetable soup to start, which was delicious, hot and very soon consumed by us!!! Main meals were brought out(Gammon steak and all the trimmings for me and cod and chips for my wife!)they were cooked perfectly, they arrived hot and stayed hot for as long as we were eating them(some places the food arrives warm and soon cools!)We were not alone in the restaurant as there were locals out for an evening drink. They made us feel welcome and not like an outsider!!!! We found out that the barman was the owner and his wife was the chef, both were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. After we had finished we paid our bill and left, much impressed with the service and standard of the food!!! if you are in the vicinity i would recommend that you take in the Blue Bell Inn for a meal, you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Met a colleague there - my first time visit. It seems to be the only place worth stopping at for miles and, fair play to them, they are open all day. So, in some ways, a beacon of light on what was a wet, dark and miserable day.The pub has a restaurant and a bar menu and the chef is available all day - so it might be unfair to criticise except that if you provide a service.......we both chose a bar meal but it was rather limited. A cheese and bacon baguette is not the most exciting meal but a few additions to the plate might make it look that an effort had been made. The baguette was crisp, there were two slices of bacon, one for each half of the baguette, and then what appeared to be melted cheddar on top. A small amount of salad, with half a tomato, was also on the plate. One or two pieces of the salad had some brown edges - sharper eyes are maybe needed in the kitchen. The price with 2 soft drinks was £6 - not unreasonable. We were the only people in the pub: perhaps had there were more visitors the fire might have been lit and the atmosphere a little softer. The background music was, I suggest, more to the taste of the barman than to the older visitor. It was not intrusive but neither was it particularly relaxing! The toilets were very clean, the car park free of litter but, with a little more effort the attention to detail might be to the other areas mentioned. Still, full marks for being there and for being open and I shall support them whenever I am in the area.

Massive portion of steak which had been fried i think, chips and some peas etc to accompany. Friend had the gammon which was insanely big and barely fitted onto the plate. We'd just covered a large distance and were low on food and very hungry so were really needing a bite to eat before embarking on the next leg of our journey. Despite activity in the kitchen and others eating we were told very rudely that we were not welcome. Not sure if this is the attitude they have with all cyclists, but if you are passing the area it's best to stock up elswhere.Maybe we caught them on a bad day? Still, not a professional way to conduct business. In the future we'll just pass without stopping... no matter how desperate!!
