Stopped here for some food as Blue Bour was full... Wouldn't do again... Should really read the reviews before eating. The staff are lovely but the food it dire! Unsure how they failed at plain chips but they did! The toilets were just as bad... Wouldn't be eating here again

Ate lunch here. Haloumi fries ok. Chips flour-y. My friend found some uncooked white in her egg, much to her disgust. Tomato soup was basically a tin of tomatoes with bits of poor quality veg added. Quality of bread was poor. Upon leaving we discovered Kilverts has a Food Hygiene rating of just 2. We wont be coming here again.

Ordered four baguettes which took 40mins to arrive and were all burnt on the bottom. Hardly any filling in them. All served with chips not crisps as per menu. Waste of money as barely edible. Don’t bother ordering food here plenty of other places

Went in for lunch. Tasteless whitebait and greasy cheesy chips. Somehow even managed to fail with a baked potato. Inattentive and forgetful service. feels like they’ve given up caring. On the way out noticed it’s only rated food hygiene rated 2. Might be ok for a beer, but swerve if you’re wanting to eat

As a place to go for a pint, this is fine, and quiet, but their food is awful and ridiculously overpriced, with substantial wait times when the place is practically empty. At least it explains why the place is empty.

This is a lovely local pub. Welcoming on entry and cheap. £4.60 for two halves of Westons. Stowford Press also on draught. We didn't eat but as our visit was during the lunch period, the food being bought outside to those that were dining looked very good. If visiting Hay, give this place a visit.

I waited an hour for my food to arrive and when it did my burger was overcooked and the chips were extremely greasy. Minimal thought went into the presentation of the meal and the portion was meagre for the price. The bar area makes for a nice pub and the front terrace is a lovely spot to enjoy the evening sun but the food lets the venue down. Lovely, helpful barman apologised for the poor quality and small portions but unfortunately this did not make up for the disappointing overall experience.

Rude staff and poor drinks. This is the only place we would not go back to! Only popped in for a quick drink with friends to escape the cold. Was immediately asked by staff not to sit in front of the fireplace (even though the chairs were already there) as we were blocking the heat to the rest of the pub and customers? Out of the 6 people in there we were 4 of them and we sat next to the fire because we were freezing cold, the other 2 were sat at the other end of the pub in a different room altogether which makes no sense. 2 of our drinks didn't taste right, 1 of which being a guiness which took 10 minutes for the guy to pour and when he brought it it was pouring down the sides of the glass. Left our drinks and left the terrible atmosphere, was the only bad experience we had in the whole town.

Now however they have changed menu's and seem to be copying Weather Spoons menu - it's over priced and really not worth it. Also their chips are disgusting!! Then at 12.40 told they would not be taking orders until 1.00pm so by the time we got our food it was 1.45pm! Both meals cost £12 each which we thought was a bit pricey for Fish, Chips and Peas, and Pie, New Potatoes and Veg. We found the fish and chips to be quite greasy, and the pastry on the pie was very hard to cut through although the pie was very tasty. It gets 2 stars because it was a nice pint of IPA.

The bar staff seem to choose who they serve next regardless of who is actually next in the queue. The barmaids aren’t very good at hiding their liking for young male customers and ignore female customers even if they have been waiting for ages. Really friendly, told us anything with 4 legs was welcome bar horses (sorry equine fans 😉) and was not fazed by our pickle and his barky ways. Instead giving him treats and reassuring us. The beer on tap was good with a good range of non alcoholic drinks. They've a lovely beer garden out the back , or you can sit in the front garden and watch the world go by. We would absolutely choose to stay here if we were ever in Wales again in fact we would come back to Wales just to stay here. Highly recommend the place. Lovely people.
