It's so lovely to finally be able to go to a restaurant that you know are understanding of allergens. The chef really knows his menu and the ingredients in it. I really wanted the moules marinere as I hadn't been able to have them since I discovered my dairy intolerance. However I also have an intolerance to eggs and it said it had eggs in the dish. The chef advised it was only on the bread so we switched out the bread and boom I had yummy moules marinere. Portions are massive (too big for me but I'm always happy to go home with a doggy bag), food is good quality and yummy. The interior design is relaxing and cosy. I highly recommend. We'd love to see a gluten free beer on tap in the future. But they do have a few in bottles. We live fairly far away but we'll be sure to return whenever we're in the area.

We stayed in Knighton and visited The George & Dragon each day and enjoyed the variety of meals including the Sunday Roast. This is a Gem of a find for myself being a Coeliac and having the option to eat anything. I enjoyed every meal and my Partner whom isn't GF liked the fact he I could try his food too without the worry. This is a brilliant find and will be back 👏. Thank you for making us feel welcome too 😀

Stayed here while walking Offa's Dyke for which it was an excellent base. Restaurant was outstanding - we were unsure about the gluten/dairy free, but were then bowled over by the quality, quantity and flavour of the meals. Accommodation excellent, and breakfast a great start to a day of walking.

We came for an evening meal for my birthday and were not disappointed! Both myself & my son have coeliac disease and to be able to come and enjoy a meal without any worry about the food was brilliant. The menu is extensive, with plenty of choice and all of our meals were delicious ! The staff were very helpful and made our evening relaxed and enjoyable. We will be returning and I now want to try the Carvery ! 🙂

There are not enough words for how wonderful this place is! We came for lunch and had the vegetable pie and the ham, leek and chicken pie - they were so delicious and all the trimmings (chips, mash, veg) were incredible too! Cannot recommend the cheesy garlic bread enough too. We had the chocolate torte for dessert which was the best we’ve ever tasted. The staff were super friendly and chatty, willing to help and cater for any needs, and gave us everything we could’ve asked for. As someone who has been severely gluten intolerant for 3 years, this was the most enjoyable and relaxing dining experience I’ve had in a very long time, not having to worry about what to order and being able to enjoy all the incredible food on the menu was just wonderful, thank you so much!

Had a fantastic meal here for my birthday. Being celiac it is hard to eat out and be able to trust places not to cross contaminate, but being completely gluten free there was no worry at all. First meal I’ve ever felt comfortable eating out. Food was amazing, my husband is fussy when eating out but he couldn’t fault anything at all, all cooked perfectly, portions are huge and excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Thank you so much for creating this safe space, we will definitely be returning for the Sunday carvery.

We came for the Christmas carvery. We were on a weekend break and decided to stop here as they are a completely gluten free restaurant and one member of our family requires a gluten free diet. We arrived to canapés on the table and it was set up beautifully for Christmas with crackers and mulled wine was brought out to us. We headed for the carvery and had a delicious and wide selection of meat and vegetables. One member of our family is vegetarian so they separately cooked not only a vegetarian wellington but also vegetarian gravy. The food was beautifully home cooked and delicious. We then ordered our trio of deserts which was basically three full sized portions of the most delicious puddings ever. We couldn’t finish them all but we got Tupperware to take it all home in. We then were served homemade mince pies which we also had to take home as we were so full. Not only did they cater very happily to all of our dietary needs, but they were probably the most welcoming, friendly and wonderful hosts. It felt like being home for Christmas. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal and a wonderful time.

My family and I went for a Sunday carvery which I had booked due to there being 8 of us in total. I was given the choice of the 12pm sitting or the 2pm one. The bar was very busy so we had a bit of a wait to be served our drinks but otherwise you couldn't fault the service. A great choice of meats and vegetables available. The food was lovely, all the meat was really tender and cooked to perfection as we're the vegetables. We will definitely be back

Me and my friend decided to go out for a meal as a very rare treat! We went in and asked if they were doing food, the reply I got was “I don’t know”! (This was at 7:30)We were then told to go through to the restaurant area and to come to the bar when we know what we wanted, I must add that the whole time it was very clear this member of staff did not want to be there. We ordered our food and I had the vegetarian enchilada and I’m sorry but it was pretty diabolical, it tasted like very sting vinegar and the “Mediterranean vegetables” were quartered tomato’s, onions and 2 slices of red pepper, I think I managed about 1/4 of it, we also shared some onions rings which were very much cheap shop bought which is fine but disappointing. My friend couldn’t eat all of hers as also wasn’t great. The nachos and sour cream that came with it were nice though. Overall with the food and service it was below par when compared to other local pubs/restaurants.

We were slogging along the Welsh Borders on our way to a "more distant than expected" B&B; and decided that we needed to stop to eat. We happened upon the George and Dragon and it looked "OK". I couldn't describe the initial welcome as warm - but we were tired. It felt like a traditional pub - even down to the gents being out at the back! (The ladies was inside, though.) It was quiet when we arrived and we were put into a dark but cosy little room at the smaller bar; it must be lovely when the stove is lit. The food was excellent. It was produced quickly and tasted home made. It was friendly once we were settled in for eating (and less tired ourselves) and we were able to chat with the kitchen staff. I can heartily recommend it, it was just what we needed. It may look a bit unprepossessing at first sight but there is a good range of drinks and a good range of well-cooked food, what more can you ask?

We popped in her late afternoon for a pint and we were the only people in the pub. We mentioned that we were staying in the area for a few days and asked to look at the menu for another evening. We sat at the bar and my husband noticed that a Grand Prix formula1 pre race was on the TV and so asked if we could turn up the sound a little. We ordered a second pint and mid way through the barman turned music on really loud so we could not hear the TV any more, we were still the only people in the pub. Obviously our custom was not wanted, evev though we had mentioned a return visit and our willingness to bring more money into the establishment. We left and will not be returning, there are lots of other pubs in the village which we visited over our stay. We have since found out that this is a locals pub. However with so many pubs closing down now they should make more of an effort to attract transient trade willing to spend money rather than the local lads having a pint on their way home. It is on the main street so in a prime position.Whenever we passed again on our way home later in the evening the place was nearly empty, the locals having gone home.

We were recommended to go to this pub by a local lady that served us in one of the nearby shops. When we walked in sure enough there she was..This place is advertised as a Brains pub however when we went to the bar the only Brains beer on offer was Rev James, however there were other cask ales which I felt it to be my duty to try and they were pleasing enough. My wife and I had a three course meal, To start I had the "Cajun prawns" with which I was a little disappointed as it was simply prawns with a Cajun spice sprinkled over them and served with a bit of salad. My wife had the Scallops which she thought were absolutely delicious. For the Main I had the fish & chips which was OK but the fish was a little oily but I may be a little critical, my wife had the butternut Squash & Beetroot lasagne again she thought it was scrummy and for desserts I had the Lemon meringue which was not very lemony and a little cakey for my liking but once again my wife enjoyed her Chocolate fudge cake. The barmaid was friendly and polite and the service was good. The toilets are outside and could do with a bit of a makeover but all in all I would say that it was a good experience.

We didn't even mind the 45 minute wait for our food despite there being only one other couple in the restaurant, who were already onto their dessert. What I DID mind was ordering lamb shank with creamy mash, veg and a rosemary and thyme sauce, but receiving the first three items with a CURRY sauce. A bizarre combination to say the least! When a (different) waitress eventually asked if we were enjoying our meal, I asked about the sauce, to be told "Oh we've just changed the menu. Sorry about that." Not as sorry as I was. An alternative meal or reduction would have been appreciated in this instance.

We recently enjoyed Sunday lunch here and was made most welcome by the landlord and his wife. It was very busy on the Sunday and had a good atmosphere in the restaurant. The meal had plenty of fresh veg and was reasonably priced. We ate here again in the week and I enjoyed my risotto. My husband and daughter enjoyed their meals apart from the chips.

The pub is located on the High street and bang on the path which makes it ideally located. On arrival, it looks like a pub and we just assumed that the rooms would be above the pub. How wrong we were. The rooms were in a converted stable at the back and were superb. The pub is very busy but we had heard very little noise and it did not disturb our sleep. The front part of the pub is a traditional drinking place and the restaurant is at the back. The food is reasonabley priced and plentiful. The hosts were very friendly and went out of their way for us. Overall, a great place to stop whilst walking the Dyke.

Did not eat but popped in for a beer. Looked a lovely pub plenty of history and charm. Beer was a nice, local butty Bach and was lovely. Service was slow and i think the bar man wasn't very chatty or hospitable . An comfortable pub with seating inside and out . Receptionist was very friendly. Can't comment on food as they don't open kitchen between 1500 and 1800.

First visit, ordered fish and chips twice. Fish very greasy but food ok. Parking to get here a nightmare, paid £2.50 nearby for a 10min stay. Not the vendors fault.

Booked a room & confirmed to then be emailed a day later it was cancelled. Telephoned to get a very arrogant receptionist who tried to lie to me about the reason. Not even the slightest apology for ruining my weekend. Shocking. If I had not spotted the email I would of travelled 150 miles for nothing!

We spent a few hours here enjoying the great beer, we spent £80 on beer and sat outside. All was good until we decided to have some fish and chips from the chippy next door with our beers at which point we were asked to move to the other side of the road. There were no signs stating we couldnt eat chips from the local chippy whilst continuing to drink and purchase more beers. How about a sign that says we allow fish and chips to be eaten if beers are being drunk at same time or add a food fee of say £5.00 per table if beers are being purchased at same time.

I have never experienced such rude staff in hospitality. Obviously can’t cope with more than ten people in the pub. Asked at 7.15 if still serving food response was “no” - no apologies or we are fully booked. Decided to stay for a drink and then told we couldn’t sit where we were and had to move. Then 5 minutes later a menu appeared asking if we wanted food? Apparently it had calmed down to 8 people in the bar so they could cope. Food was basic and over priced along with the beer. Would I come back? Absolutely not with these current owners, unless they suddenly learn how to cook, how to serve, how to price correctly in line with a small town that is no where near London and learn some manners.
