This Pub gives easy access to the waterfalls by a gated path towards the Pyrddin River , so is an ideal spot for your meals &refreshment . After our walk , we ate salads here , followed by apple pie & custard , which were excellent . The staff are friendly, which is one of the hallmarks of people in general in rural Wales . The setting of the Pub has a good car park , & I imagine it is popular with many visitors who come to see the waterfalls . Highly recommended .

We've stopped here twice while on a biking tour. Both times had excellent food, plenty of parking, plenty of walkers around visiting the falls. We try and plan our lunch stop here when travelling.

Absolutely great meal, staff were very welcoming especially the young maitre ‘d He was attentive and very good in his recommendations and he was spot on for our meal ( Caribbean Chicken ) . All staff we dealt with were pleasant . Atmosphere was nice and the log burner was great . Very clean throughout . My only disappointed was that they don’t have any real ales available on tap or in bottles ,they could stock them as there is a very long shelf life on them , so cmon get some in 🙏😀. My wife had a lovely gin and tonic with plenty of choice . All in all we will be back soon . Diolch yn fawr for a lovely meal and welcome . Gary and Thian

Brilliant food portions, the food was also very tasty and we really enjoyed as a family. The only thing was poor was the service. But we would go there again.

Unfortunately we waited for 40 minutes for a starter. I politely asked if there was an issue. 5 mins later the starters arrived… no apology or even acknowledgment of the wait. The starters were tasty and we enjoyed them. Our main courses came swiftly after. They were poor quality. It was an unfortunate experience for us and we won’t be returning or recommending. Perhaps it was an off night for them.

Visited here yesterday. Called in advance as we were passing and luckily they were able to fit 2 of us in for a meal. I had the steak and ale pie - honestly the best pie I have ever had! The steak just melted in the mouth and the tastiest gravy. My partner had a mixed grill - he said it was cooked perfectly. Large portion sizes with real chips. Lovely atmosphere. The place filled up quite quickly with walkers and many tables were already reserved. I would advise calling in advance to book your table to avoid disappointment. Staff were friendly, lovely traditional pub. Absolute gem of a place and can't wait to return 🙂

Unfortunately we were made to wait outside whilst they let other customers in but the quality of the Sunday roast made up for the service - delicious

Called in for lunch before heading up to do the Four Waterfalls Walk - super friendly and they also have an area set aside for dogs - prompt service and fun decor - plenty of car parking space - whilst we saw lots of walkers who had finished their walk for us it was an idea base to file up prior to our adventure- the Jemima Pitchfork was a lovely pint 🍺 The food was delicious and plentiful- highly recommended 👏

Lovely Sunday lunch, clearly very busy but the staff worked hard to ensure a good dining experience. I do wish to point out however that the dining experience was spoilt for me, the reason for this is that table 11 is a two seater. My seat was directly in front of a very busy kitchen door my view was obviously of my lovely wife but Essentially the one seat is looking into a corner and of course the very busy kitchen door. My wife commented that she was enjoying the ambiance sadly I couldn’t say the same. My only constructive feedback would be to take the table away since it’s not possible to re position it.

Upon walking into this pub I didn’t feel like it was somewhere I wanted to eat - however when I was out voted by the family, I did eat here. I’m happy I did! Typical pub grub was ordered, scampi and chips, pie and chips and a jacket potato. All meals came out with freshly cooked hot food. We had two different pies on our table and both were deeply filled with filling and with a crusty puff pasty lid. I would definitely return to eat here again. A thumbs up from all four family members.

The food took too long to arrive. The lasagne looked and tasted like it had been cooked for a few days. The leek & chicken pie was like soup with a pastry lid. The fish was overcooked. The garlic bread was burnt. The menu is overpriced for the quality. I will not visit again.

We were visiting friends so there were four of us. It was table service due to current restrictions. Our friends arrived first and had drinks - we weren’t offered drinks before a rather miserable waitress asked to take our food order! She couldn’t have made things harder - we had steak and chips but when we asked what it came with she said we could order a side salad which we did. My husband asked if he could have veg and she said no. Once sorted food came and it was lovely but we absolutely didn't need to have ordered side salad as it came with peas, onion rings and mushrooms! I’d asked for a glass of wine and she brought me a single serving bottle which surprised me given we were in a pub. New waitress then came to service our table who was a breath of fresh air. Second round of drinks came and I was given a glass of wine - no bottle! She was laughing and joking with us and even when they only had one desert left that we’d ordered two of she was pleasant and apologetic and it wasn’t a problem at all for us. Really not sure whether the first waitress was new or just at the end of a long shift!

All four of us went one day for lunch and the lamb's liver and onions was the best meals two of us had eaten for years. We returned two days later for dinner and the meal was exceptional again. Slow service but understandable with restrictions and the amount of people eating there. Will definitely go again next time we are in the area.

I stopped here for Sunday lunch after doing a waterfall trail. Despite not having a booking I was able to have a table outside. Sunday roast (beef) was outstanding. Recommend the Rhymney beer.

Dropped in for a late lunch after visiting the waterfalls. Needed a well deserved pint and baguette. Service was a little slow but to be expected as it was busy. Staff were friendly.

Wouldn’t serve a quick pint at 8.20pm as they were closing at 8.30pm although there were people still eating and drinking. Not at all welcoming. No doubt complacent about service due to location.

Stumbled on the New Inn for lunch. This little pub turned out to be a bit of a gem - great, home cooked food and friendly staff. A good local crowd too to add some atmosphere!

I have never experienced such rude staff in hospitality. Obviously can’t cope with more than ten people in the pub. Asked at 7.15 if still serving food response was “no” - no apologies or we are fully booked. Decided to stay for a drink and then told we couldn’t sit where we were and had to move. Then 5 minutes later a menu appeared asking if we wanted food? Apparently it had calmed down to 8 people in the bar so they could cope. Food was basic and over priced along with the beer. Would I come back? Absolutely not with these current owners, unless they suddenly learn how to cook, how to serve, how to price correctly in line with a small town that is no where near London and learn some manners.

We stopped here for a few drinks and sat in the pub which was lovely. Plenty of seats and warm cosy rooms. Also had a lovely fuss of Bailey the local dog :) The landlord was very friendly and very kind to give me a birthday drink :) also he gave us some beer and cider recommendations. Reasonable prices and a spotlessly clean pub and toilets. Especially the day after New Year’s Day!! Lots of bar snacks and the landlord told us they have a pizza oven which sounds lovely so shall we come back to have one. Very good atmosphere!!!! We are staying at a local lodge and have came in here a few times. Recommend if you're in the area.

We spent a few hours here enjoying the great beer, we spent £80 on beer and sat outside. All was good until we decided to have some fish and chips from the chippy next door with our beers at which point we were asked to move to the other side of the road. There were no signs stating we couldnt eat chips from the local chippy whilst continuing to drink and purchase more beers. How about a sign that says we allow fish and chips to be eaten if beers are being drunk at same time or add a food fee of say £5.00 per table if beers are being purchased at same time.
