We visited whilst on our way down to Builth Wells. A family of 8. Food was fabulous very tasty. Staff extremely friendly and worked very fast to serve our Sunday lunch. Very large portions and a huge bowl of cauliflower cheese unfortunately only one of our party liked that so a lot went to waste. We would definitely recommend! Diolch yn fawr/thank you very much

The restaurant was very plain and uninteresting and too brightly lit. The furnishings were plain and not very comfortable.

Although short-staffed, excellent staff provided a friendly, stress-free meal with fantastic chips, & steak & ale pie!. Thank you both!

Sadly the food was completely over cooked and the word quality could no longer feature. And that with a completely restricted menu. Life is too short to eat here.

We popped in on the off chance they would have a table as car park looked busy. Luckily they had a table and we had chicken in leek sauce....it was delicious. Will be going back again.

We decided to walk into the village via the bridal path and arrived at the Kings Head rather wet. We received a warm welcome and would go back again.

Visited the Kings Head recently with my wife for dinner one evening and enjoyed a really great pub dinner! It was certainly necessary to reserve a table as the restaurant was full when we arrived at 7.15pm. We enjoyed a very large prawn cocktail and fried Brie wedges for starters and these were followed by fish and chips and a steak pie with all the usual trimmings for our main courses. All the food was delicious, well-presented and carefully served. It was all beautifully cooked and absolutely delicious. The waiting staff were very attentive and helpful when it came to answering questions on the menu. They were also friendly and helpful throughout the evening. There was an extensive menu with a choice for everyone, with all the food well and competitively priced. We have visited the Kings Head in the past when we have been in the area and will certainly visit again in the future. Thank you very much.

Some twenty years ago we were regular visitors here with our young children. We were pleasantly surprised to see it was still serving lovely food. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will come again when in the area.

The food was pretty good but not very good, if you get my drift. Very friendly locals. Had 3 courses, plenty of choice .

Pleasant atmosphere , good guinness and excellent food , the only thing we don't like is being seated where the music is coming from in the dining room

We enjoyed an evening meal here whilst staying at a nearby B&B. The menu choice suited us and the food was prepared and served really promptly. We liked the ambience in the dining room which was tastefully furnished. Having paid for our meal we realised that we hadn't been charged for two lime-and-sodas we'd ordered. On telling the barman, he generously waived the cost!

We stayed at a B & B in Welshpool and the owner booked a table for us at this pub. The food and service was very good and there was a wide range of beers on offer. Well worth a visit.

Staying nearby overnight, we had to call back to this pub which we briefly visited last year. Being a Monday night they didn't do food so we popped out and came back.On both visits that evening we found the place very welcoming and chatted (and had some great laughs) with a number of the locals. There's a great jukebox which has access to pretty much every track you might be inclined to play.We loved it here and had such a good evening - thanks folks!

Food is excellent and offers to a wide range of tastes. Beers are very traditional and well kept. Book in advance due to it being very popular with the locals.

Incredibly rude old lady in the reception which I can only assume works in the building as she seemed to talk to us as if we had trespassed in her manor… The toilets are dreadful, handles on the cisterns are broken, and they smelled horrendous. The bar had no working staff in it for the 15 minutes we were there and when (as you would on a sunny day) followed the signs to the beer garden the rude old lady stopped us and spoke to us in an incredibly rude manner, so we left and found somewhere more inviting instead.

3rd visit, we love it here, staff/venue/food all excellent. Village is lovely to wander round, lots of lovely walks and when you need to stop for a refreshment the pubs are full of friendly locals. Lots of places to visit, very central for so many places

We took the family here for Sunday lunch after hearing mixed reviews (mainly negative reviews on appearance rather than service or food) Personally we could have overlooked the dated decor and slightly slow service had the food been better. However unfortunately the food was very salty and vegetables were slightly overcooked. Meat was tasty and Yorkshire puddings were large and crisp on the outside, exactly as we like them. Overall an okay experience, which could be made so much better with a little bit of extra attention to detail. We would return and try it again.
