The best restaurants serving British food in Mid Wales

Fantastic accomodation for two weary biking travellers. We were taken in at super short-notice, fed, beer-ed and well rested. Would happily stay again.

I generally enjoyed my fish n chips though the chips were slightly soggy. Wife thought her sea bream was great. Friendly staff dealing with a lot of covers on a May Bank Holiday weekend.

The Afternoon tea was mediocre at best and incredibly poor value compared to other establishments. No cutlery or enough cups and napkins on table! Tea and coffee not provided until food almost eaten! Service from bar manager incredibly poor and quite rude. Would not recommend.

Service was really good but the food was okay, our chips were only warm, the fish was very greasy and hadn't been drained at all.

Fantastic food, don’t ever change the quality of the fish, or the steak & ale pie - both deliciously fresh!!!👍👌👌

We visited Elan Valley over the Easter holidays and wanted to enjoy a bike ride to tour the dams. Arriving mid morning I think we were lucky to get bikes without pre-booking as they only had two small bikes & an e-bike that we could hire for 3 hours. Its expensive (£40 for e-bike hire & £25 for pedal bike) to hire bikes here but parking is £3 for the day which is better value! Bit odd that you have to book & pay in the visitor centre then take your payment slip over to the bike hub to collect your bikes. The bikes we had were in good order and we had plenty of time to see the 4 main dams & reservoirs over that 3 hour period. To start on the dam bike trail head back out the way you have driven in and then you take a sharp left and head back on yourself (follow the Red Kite bird signs) , over looking the visitor centre now on your left as you climb up higher. DONT turn right at the entrance and head over the rickety old river bridge as we did & then realised our mistake!

We called in to the Mariners for coffee but couldn't resist having a breakfast roll which consisting of egg, sausage and bacon in a lovely crusty roll. The bread roll was amazing the egg was runny but not too runny, a tasty sausage and the most delicious thick lean bacon. Would thoroughly recommend trying one of these.

Fantastic lunch at this lovely beachside spot. Fish and chips was fab, super thin crispy batter, just the way I like it..🫶 Dog friendly, we ordered them some sausages and they came all cut up ready in little bowls, really nice touch.. highly recommend after a lovely walk on the beach

Overall a lovely meal We had to wait at reception and were then told to seat at the only table set for 3 people but weren’t taken to table Initially service was a bit slow but it did improve Staff were polite and friendly Food was good, fresh and very tasty

Home cooked food, with good choice for vegetarians. Lovely cosy feel to the pub. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Changed drastically, in an amazing way. very friendly and inclusive. Both the staff and the locals are so friendly and welcoming.

Proper nice place. Beer was.good, food was filling and tasty, locals were friendly. Room was nice, on suite was modern and clean. Bed was comfy and I slept like a baby.

Amazing afternoon tea. Great surroundings and the waitress was attentive with a great sense of humour. Varied selection of food and plentiful. Struggled to eat it all, you could tell someone has gone to the trouble to bake, not shop brought. My friends had not visited the hotel before and were really impressed, they felt it has been a real treat. The location of the hotel is stunning and we were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day so took advantage of having cocktails on the terrace.

Such a lovely atmosphere the decor was amazing and so eye catching the food was gorgeous the staff were so friendly and welcoming I definitely would go here again in my travels and tell my friends and family to try it as they will not be disappointed..

Brilliant, friendly service with a smile, husband said guiness was the best. Enjoyed the evening dog friendly too double whammy after a walk on the beach would definitely give it a try and hope to be back next year thankyou Guys
