We did not stay here this time, but had a family gathering for evening dinner. Fabulous. Great service from staff. Great food. Spectacular views especially at sunset. We got lucky with the weather for this visit. Wonderful setting. Well worth the trip. Will revisit again.

We were very disappointed with the Sunday lunch carvery. The starter of chicken bang bang was tough and seemed to be yesterdays chicken warmed up in a sauce. The queue at the counter was about fifteen people long. The self serving area is too small. All the vegatables looked the same, deep fried/roasted in a lot of fat. Baked potatoes were little more than oversize soggy chips. The gravy appeared to be and tasted of plain Bisto. We did'nt bother with the dessert, we did'nt expect anything special.

The Sunday carvery dinner is excellent, plenty of well cooked veg, and a great selection of meat and sauces. Desert choice is very good too. It was very busy, but the staff were excellent in dealing with everything. Nice views, nice food.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

The restaurant booking was made as part of the Rockpool Spa Package. We arrived and were promptly seated - bottled still water was placed on the table. We were presented with the reduced lunch menu for people on the spa package - no issue with this at all. I was pleased to see a menu that appeared interesting and felt I could’ve chosen a number of dishes. Between the three of us we ordered two bread boards and a cheese & pickle starter. The breads were ok, though it would’ve been nice if they’d been run through the oven before serving. I appreciate an establishment of this size may struggle to bake their own bread but with Crwst just a stones-throw away, I feel you can do better than whatever you’re currently using. The pickles and cheese were fine. My eldest daughter had a burger for her main and she said this was fine. My younger daughter had the wild mushroom tagliatelle - we paid an additional £3.50 to have this with chicken. The chicken came out yellow like it’d been cooked in a curry oil. It hadn’t, but the oil that it had been cooked in then formed a rather unpleasant pool in the bowl. The pasta was so over cooked my daughter had to cut it with a knife rather than twirling it on her fork. I had opted for a chicken and charred red pepper wrap. I’m unsure if this was supposed to be hot or cold but the ambient temperature of which it was actually served meant that the grated processed mozzarella inside didn’t melt. But the worst thing of all is that the chicken tasted fishy. Either it was ‘off’ or it had been cut with a knife or handled by a cook also handling fish. None of which are ok. I intended to raise my concerns with our waitress but she neglected to return to the table to check on our mains, nor did she come when I raised my hand to gain her attention. She nodded at me to show that she had seen me but was on her way to another table to take food - no problem, I thought, she’ll come once she’s delivered the food - she never did come over. We decided to write it off to experience and to get ourselves into the spa (the real reason we were there). As no one had come to our table, we got up and walked across the restaurant towards the waiters station. The waitress came to take payment and asked if our food was ok. I gave her a clear explanation of the issues we’d had and that most of the food was left uneaten. She said “ok, I’ll let the chef know.” I’m assuming this is the blanket response to dealing with complaints as I’ve read this in your other poor reviews. No apology, no amendment to the bill, no accountability at all. You say in a lot of your responses that you’ve not had complaints about this dish, or that dish before. But it seems that complaints are being made but there is little in the way of resolution. Did I attempt to raise my concerns at the time? Yes. Did I bring these concerns to your attention while still at the restaurant? Yes. Did this achieve anything? Absolutely not. In addition, our drink didn’t arrive until after we’d finished our starters (2 x Pepsi and a glass of Prosecco ordered at the same time as the food), and our starter plates remained on the table for the duration of the meal. This was a birthday treat for my daughters who turned 16 & 21 last week so I was determined not to bring the mood down for their sakes and we escaped to the spa much earlier than planned where we had a lovely afternoon. Needless to say, if we make the trip to the spa again, we’ll select a package that doesn’t include food.

Went here for a Sunday lunch but it happened to Mother’s Day We were told we couldn’t order off the main menu only have the set three course Mother’s Day menu . As two of our party were vegan there was only one starter and one main we could have . The starters arrived and not to wonderful soups whilst the pork belly was excellent Next the main vegan meals which we had to get from the carvery The beetroot wellington was a grainy texture mush .no big chunks of beetroot at all .To be honest the flavour was a awful as well as it tasted like it had mixed spice in like you’d use in a cake The non vegans had a cauliflower cheese with their carvery and it had nutmeg in it .Again a strange choice of spice and left uneaten . The desserts for vegans were cheesecake or sorbet The cheesecake had already been tried by one of our party and was not homemade but a frozen reheated effort .So was to be avoided. So no desserts for the vegans The meat eaters among us had ice cream for one and Eaton mess tart for the other .Ice cream you can’t go wrong without the tart was bland the meringue was rock hard the only thing was nice was the fruit Again in between courses there was a wait as the two different waitresses were giving us cross messages about when we could go up to the carvery . We did tell our waitress about the awfulness of the beetroot wellington to which she replied she would try it later We were not the only people with complaints that day .the table behind us also had issues So to summarise great venue ,great view ,rubbish food

Completely idyllic evening in the company of good friends at the Cliff Hotel. We sat outside on the terrace for our meal which was delicious and plentiful, watched a spectacular sunset then retired to the 'comfy chairs' round a fire pit for a last drink. It's our third visit but our first since before Covid (we're visitors to the area) and it's every bit as good as, if not even better than, I remember.

Had high hopes for this place but was quickly let down. Our table of 9 had numerous issues - food late to arrive, five meals had to be sent back as they were stone cold, and one sent back due to finding a hair in the food. All of this could have been overlooked had it been dealt with professionally however multiple servers were rude and unhelpful. They didn’t take back the cold food when we asked - instead saying they would “speak to the chef”, didn’t remake the food with the hair in, and one young waiter was visibly trying not to laugh each time came to our table when we were clearly unhappy. We could also see the two young lads standing in the corner looking over at us and laughing - all seemed a big joke to them. We were eventually compensated, and I’m sure it’s a lovely restaurant when the right staff are working but we won’t be returning.

We ate here twice as we were staying. First night we had the venison which was on the specials , this was amazing. Excellent waitress, and other staff. Next night restaurant was really noisy, a pre wedding table with a noisy child, not the restaurant’s fault and another large table appeared to be talking over each other. Having looked forward to the specials we were disappointed to see they were the same as the previous night. We had very good steaks , staff were slightly chaotic. We both thought the selection of starters was strange, nothing conventional in there other than soup. Though a wide selection of mains.

Went for Sunday lunch - they only had a 2 or 3 course carvery offering - 17 or 20 pounds - food was as you would expect from a bulk offering - filling but nothing special. The real let down was the very poor service - seemed to be a complete disconnect between the bar and service staff - long wait, beer had been sitting for a while before it appeared - glass of wine ordered at start finally turned up 2/3rds the way through the meal after repeated requests. To cap it off they then gave option for a service tip on paying!

Two coffees arrived warm, when we told a staff member she was abrupt and took them away, when replacements were brought by a senior staff member she again was abrupt. We all felt uncomfortable and agreed not to pay for additional coffees. Two of our party left the table to go to the toilet and they were shouted at across the restaurant, did they want the bill. Not a very welcoming environment and we all agreed we would never return.

We came over for lunch, and had been planning on treating ourselves for a few weeks following on from all the lockdown stuff. We arrived on time, were immediately shown to a wonderful table that had a good view out over the bay, and were provided with menus and drink orders taken. We noted there was a big party in another room, so most of the waiting staff were deployed in there, but as the restaurant became busier for lunches, there were more and more staff on hand to deal with the influx of guests, and well managed. Waiting times were normal, even at their busiest, which is excellent. Selections made for starters and mains, those were taken and starters were promptly at table, and proved to be delicious !! Starters devoured, mains soon followed to table and similarly, excellent food, really well cooked, really well presented and most, most enjoyable. We decided to have a dessert which is slightly unusual, but the food quality had been so good, we thought it churlish not to try a couple of the mouthwatering offerings. We were not disappointed in our choices. Simply delightful. Great kitchen and equally great Chefs. Thoroughly recommended.

We are here last night after my wife had a spa evening. As she got £25 towards her food from the spa it was pretty reasonable but I would've been a little disappointed if I'd paid full price. It wasn't bad in any way but the food just wasn't quite at the standard the price suggested it would be. For example, my ox tongue terrine was under-seasoned and my steak was overcooked (medium vs medium-size) and, again, under-seasoned. These aren't huge issues but it has to be weighed against the cost.

Nice people, helpful, fast free wifi, big parking area. They also do food and B & B and are nicely placed for the coast, What's not to like?

Great typical pub. Dog friendly. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Quiet enough to have a relax. Drinks only but reasonable pricing

Stayed here for 3 nights, very comfortable and friendly staff. The evening menu is very good and the food is outstanding. The quality is amazing and portions are generous. This should be award winning
