Having had an amazing breakfast here before we called in last Saturday and were really disappointed it wasn't open along with other diners.we had all been kicked out of cottages at 9am and had come to New Quay for breakfast there were loads of families walking up and do the high street looking to eat and only one restaurant and one take out were open and full. there must have been about 80 of us wanting to eat and nowhere was open you traders are all missing out on custom.

Good food, one member of staff particularly Hostile

I had a wonderful holiday in New Quay enhanced by meals here. As a vegan I'm used to settling for chips and salad but here I really enjoyed a homemade vegan burger, on another day a vegan breakfast with fresh avocado. Lovely situation, staff and food. I hope I can return one day!

We must have come at a bad time. Our table wasn’t cleared and staff did not appear very happy. It’s a shame as we’ve not experienced this anywhere else in New Quay during our stay here. It’s like we were an inconvenience. Sorry to leave a bad review, but I hope staff pay attention. A smile costs nothing. We also noticed that other tables were greeted warmly and tables cleared quickly. We had masks on and followed all guidance. Hopefully others will have a better experience

Staff are rude, disrespectful and discriminatory. My family are asian and it was quite clear that there was a certain level of racial profiling from staff. Our tables were not cleaned at all, whereas the tables surrounding us (who were full of old white women) were cleaned almost instantly upon arrival. We had to clean our own tables and upon asking for napkins to clean the table, we were treated as an inconvenience. Would not recommend this place to anyone as it is not fair at all in a modern society to be treated so poorly.

really upsetting to hear my family experienced such aweful service here! we are frequent visitors of new quay and have been for many years and never have my family or I experienced service this bad. As a waitress and bartender myself i was shocked to hear the table wasnt cleaned or set when my family sat down, not only highlighting poor service but lack of hygiene standards in a pandemic. Then to hear how rude the staff were!! absolutely shocking and will never be going back that is for sure!

Lovely Sunday roast, friendly staff, 100% recommend

Absolutely delicious Sunday roast. Rang to book and when we got there staff had reserved the window seat for us which made the experience even better. Staff were friendly, courteous and polite at all times. Food is reasonably priced . We have been going to this Restaraunt for years and not once have we been disappointed. Would definitely recommend and will most definitely return again for what is probably the tastiest Sunday lunch in the area

I have frequented this restaurant more times than I can remember. After driving (the usually) one hour, I was gutted to find out that (my favourite) pint of prawns had been taken off the menu. I was equally disappointed with the attitude of the staff. -1 loyal customer

I'll start by saying the food we had here was really good and reasonably priced. On the other hand we were left seated unserved for over 20mins. Other people that came in after us were served and eating before we had given an order. In the end I had to get up and have a word with the lady behind the counter in order to get served. The waitress didn't want to know. Goods points. Good views Price Quality of food

Visited last week family of four with our small dog so sat outside with good elevated views of dolphin playing in the harbour. Served by a pleasant young waitress dressed the part and served in reasonable time. Food ok & no issues. However, change of waitress who didn’t look the part, could have wandered in off street, and was wearing the filthiest outdoor coat to serve food. She was pleasant enough but hygiene wise disgraceful to be serving in a food establishment. Hardly consistent with the five star hygiene rating.

Can't fault the fry up. Magnificent. And the seagull that tried to stare me out knew it too.

Awful experience with the family, seeing how Wales still had covid restrictions in place when we visited last week we walked in and checked if we could be seated at the vacant table. Staff behind the counter told us to wait and we would be asked to sit once the table had been cleaned but she cleaned it and then didn't, we where left standing in the way until another waitress cleaned another table and asked us where we waiting. We then got ignored while others around us who just walked in after us and just took a table got served before us (twice) so we got up and left, plenty of other places to take our money and the place over the road (Mariners) was amazing

Lovely place for food with great views

Had a wonderful breakfast, service was brilliant even though they were very busy. Do yourselves a favour, and try the full English, worth the money and with beautiful views of the bay ..

Nice friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, and the food was not bad either, reasonably priced.

I had a terrible experience at this place. Staff were unbelievably rude. I asked to sit in the shade (I had a melanoma removed from my face a few months back and this was my first day out in the sun, I was undoubtedly nervous). One waitress said yes I could, when I moved I was then publicly berated by the other waitress. Really unacceptable behaviour from waiting staff and I’m completely unimpressed. They were comfortably busy and not rushed off their feet, there was no need for the hostility. I’m happy I didn’t spend my money here.

We were seated quite quickly however, the lady serving did seem to be struggling with the 3-4 tables that were already seated and service was slow. As a result we decided to order a bottle of wine save having to keep ordering by the glass. After a while the food turned up which was lovely however, the vinegar was empty on the table and there were no other condiments. We tried to get the ladies attention but to no avail. At which point my friend picked one up off another table as our food was starting to go cold. I managed to finally get the waitresses attention and asked for some Mayo and was given a pitiful 2 sachets to share between us….(I’m a girl who likes her Mayo when it comes to chips so not happy). At this point we mentioned about the vinegar and and got some remark back about being lucky the bottle had been disinfected as though we had just taken the ultimate risk with our lives. We finished our food which was really nice. We at that point noticed they were closing which seemed an odd time of day. The lady then proceeded to stand there with her hand on her hips staring at us with a look of doom whilst we chugged down a half bottle of wine in desperation to get out of there. We tried to make light of things by saying we were going to get pretty drunk downing the wine this fast to which she remarked we were doing a good enough job of that ourselves…which I thought was a little presumptuous! We quickly left. Would not dine there again

Food was delicious and arrived fast.. we ordered a bottle of wine to go with our food, unfortunately we didn't know or get informed they were closing 40 minutes later, the waitress was very rude and as soon as 5 o'clock came she stood watching us with her hand on her hips, she let the place down to be honest.

They had obviously made an effort to make a tasty and interesting vegan meal. Highly recommended. Oh, and the view from the outside deck is amazing!

We went in on a boiling hot day and it was lovely to sit in the cool and see the amazing view. Staff were lovely and we all enjoyed our food

We visited New Quay looking for a nice place to have some lunch. We waited at the foot of the steps to the outdoor eating area for ages while the 2 disinterested waitresses finally showed us to a table. Before we sat down for food we were told there was a 40 minute wait for food because they were so busy. Being right by the sea, my partner ordered Whitebait, only for the waitress to return 5 minutes later to say there was no more whitebait left! The place had only been open for 30 minutes at this point. The food we ordered turned up 15 minutes later and the vast majority of it was inedible. The waitress came with the bill and dint even ask why we hadn’t eaten the food because she couldn’t care less which showed in her general demeanour the whole time we were there. do yourself a favour and dodge this pathetic excuse for a restaurant which is also breaking the law by not allowing customers to use their toilet facilities. my partner tried to use the toilet and she was asked to go and use the public toilets in the square opposite as they couldn’t be bothered to keep cleaning their toilets for customers!, Totally underwhelmed

Finally managed to get a table as it was rammed all week. The mussels were as good as I’ve had anywhere. Stone cold San Miguel. Kids loved their food. If you can get in try it. Great service too. Only down side you have to use the public toilets across the road.

Fantastic food, staff always friendly and helpful. They cater for vegans too. Their vegan triple club sandwich was amazing!

Had a delicious Sunday lunch, vegetarian roast, my partner had roast beef. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were polite and helpful. Would recommend.

This was the only place we could find to eat indoors after 3pm that were still serving a full meal.We ordered baguettes and one side of fries and another with crisps.The baguette was huge and full to bursting. The filling choices were great too from basic cheese or ham salad to our choices of goats cheese, beetroot chutney and crispy bacon and halloumi, avocado and apricot chutney! Both were cooked perfectly and tasted incredible.The crinkle cut fries were delicious too.We had two soft drinks and the bill came to under £19 which was a bargain.The staff were friendly and helpful and we would highly recommend eating here.The views over the beach were lovely to.

An Idyllic setting, looking over the beachfront. Outdoor seating area. Full Menu. All Day Breakfast. Reasonably priced menu. Elderly Staff, Good Service, slight attitude with Customers and Table/Seating Sanitising. Would Definitely Recommend.

Best meal I have had since being on holiday. I had a chicken and bacon salad. Was fabulous. Plenty of chicken, olives, peppers, and the usual suspects. Also a side of sweet potato fries. Crispy and crunchy. The other person had a cooked breakfast and the plate was clear. You also have a few sugar free drinks which as a new diabetic was fab. Picked up a couple of your delicious looking cakes for my parents and they said they were beautiful. Thanks for the great food and great view. Many other restaurants could take a leaf out of your book.

Vegan and veggie very happy with our lunch freshly made. Enjoyed our take away lunch on our walk along the coastal path.

The Old Watch HouseNice outdoor seating area at the top with lovely views across the beach to the right of the pier. Based in a good location just a short walk from pier/beach area. Brilliant service from the staff. The food was great, the loaded fries were well worth the cost as they were delicious. Drinks were cool and served nicely. A good choice of food and drink on the menu, we would return again. I was pleased with the Covid precautions in place, all the benches/tables were wiped down regularly, etc.

On arrival in the afternoon we decided to eat before booking into our hotel ,had a short wait for a table at the door ,staff were very friendly and stuck to the Covid rules .food and drink was good ,woulduse again .

After wandering around New Quay we found that not many places were open except this cafe. It’s the time of year where most shut down plus Covid. Entered following Covid restrictions and found it to be a pleasant cafe with a very good view. The food was good and reasonable priced. Only thing was there are no toilets however there are some public ones across the road. Note to anyone visiting, the town has closed off the Main Street to the harbour due to Covid. There is a one way system so it seemed you could not drive to the harbour. Parking is hard work on street. We found by accident after walking into the town the car park which is not well signed. Blink and you miss the road to the car park.

A disappointing Sunday lunch. More of a coffee shop. Staff very unfriendly.. maybe they don’t wa t to be around the general public right now.. but other places we have been to have been a lot better in that regard. Food was very average.. looked and tasted like a school dinner. Nice view with a coffee must account for the good ratings?

Disappointing Sunday lunch, reminiscent of school dinners right down to the metal trays holding boiled cabbage and suede. No toilets - use the grubby public ones over the road. Uninterested service. Such a shame. We were really looking forward to it. Spend your money elsewhere. £30 for two awful lunches.

We stopped here for a drink on the terrace after a local walk. We observed the server, who was friendly & welcoming, meticulously clean every table, seat,unbrella pole & menu between guests which was so reassuring as I’m not sure every venue is taking this much care. We enjoyed watching the world go by & enjoying a nice Local beer - which was lovely .

Whilst I can’t say the place is “exceptional” it’s very good for what your paying. We left empty plates so we must have enjoyed the food. Biggest points to note: 1) very generous gravy portions, which I find rare in restaurants and I like my roast floating in gravy at home, 2) great vegetable selection, we had carrots, peas, cabbage and mashed suede, as well as roast AND boiled potatoes. It felt all very simple but delicious so if you want a fuss free, traditional roast this place is the spot. Just be warned it has no toilets, so instead you have to use the public toilets across the road which definitely weren’t the most pleasant!

We visited the Old Watch House Twice during our holiday, once just for tea and cakes, the second time for lunch. Good service, a good menu choice (recommend the mussels and Welsh Lamb Pie), good quality and good value for money.

ordered pinto of prawns . they were served in a pint glass with cold garlic butter sauce at the bottom of the glass. the prawns were 5 cm London not deveigned with the pooh still in the prawns. served with a side finger bath but should have been served with immodium . the Greeks salad had insipid vinaigrette and the staff were not receptive to asking for more dressing. poor seafood restraunt. whitebait was clumped and not fresh. how disappointing considering this is a fishing area

Stopped in on the first day of our holiday. Mainly chose here as it has a lovely terrace area overlooking the sea.It was really busy outside but we were lucky enough to get a table quickly-a lot of people were having to wait by the time we left. I had a omelette which was lush and garlic bread was fantastic!! My partner had a burger and chips which he said was lovely too. Really enjoyed our meal here and would recommend and go back again.

After reading the good reviews and passing the restaurant we thought we would have breakfast to finish off what has been an amazing holiday .we had to wait for twenty minutes for a table despite there being empty tables once sorted we placed our order the tea was brought over without milk we Sat waiting patiently for our breakfast to arrive 30minutes later no food my husband reminded staff .The tea was undrinkable toast came buttered and what we thought would have been exceptional was sub standard hard eggs no mushrooms supermarket sausages with very poor service

Lovely views and the best breakfast in new quay!!!!! Only down side staff weren't as sociable as expected but if you are looking for good food to set you up for the day then this is the place to go!!!!

Popped into here this Morning with my Family we ordered 5 full English with an extra plate for our youngest Grandson.... The staff were super & the full English was exceptional.... Will definately return in the future & highly recommend the Brekki.. Also nice Italian fresh coffee.

We went here for lunch before our boat trip. They had a great choice of food at very good prices. Vegan food available for my son and daughter in law. Huge portion of fish and chips for me. The cakes looked so good we popped back after the boat trip for tea and cake. Very friendly staff. Will definitely visit again if we go back to the area.

Visited the restaurant for lunch after a 1hr boat trip watching dolphins with our 5 year old daughter. The food was good and everyone was friendly. Would visit again if in the area on holiday

Lovely freshly cooked food and helpful friendly staff

Stayed in the area for a week and visited this place twice for lunch. It seems popular with the locals, and there's clearly a reason! The menu is great with so much choice, and although it feels like a cafe, the food and service is restaurant level. The chips are absolutely excellent, and I can also recommend the lamb pie.Great food, lovely views, friendly staff and decent value prices. Would definitely recommend.

Called in on a grey Saturday morning for breakfast. Between us we had the Eggs Benedict and the Light Breakfast with 2 Americans. Service was quick and friendly and our plates were soon cleared. We had the added bonus of seeing the dolphins in the bay while we were eating breakfast. What’s not to like. Can recommend.

Lovely views when sitting outside, unfortunately service quite slow, tea brought out ages before food arrived and it was a very greasy breakfast, also not keen on the herbs/flavouring on the fried potatoes, didnt go well on a cooked breakfast with egg, beans and sauce etc

Very friendly staff. An outstanding view of the bay. Delicious scones and coffee. All the meals we saw served looked great.

We called in here today at almost closing time, the staff were so lovely, telling us to order what we wanted it was fine as we had come in before they had turned the sign round. I have worked in catering and know how annoying it is to have someone turn up just as you are about to close, but the staff were nothing but reassuring and so so nice. Our meals were delicious and we were not rushed at all, we did kind of eat fast though as it was not fair to the staff to stay longer on our behalf. I just want the owners to know what outstanding staff they have, not one of them rolled their eyes, tutted, or made a single indication that we were a pain. The young man and two ladies that served us were just lovely. I am sure had we taken longer over the meal they would have been just as nice. Absolute credit to you they are.

I’ve been four times for lunch and I’ll probably go back. I appreciate the fact I have a choice of vegan food and it’s always good quality and a good portion size. I had the vegan burger and loved it! Always appreciate a place that offers vegan cheese too. It’s in a great location overlooking the town and the sea.

I had a good meal here. The service was friendly and pretty fast. There was a good selection on the menu including vegetarian and vegan options. I would eat here again.

We popped in here for a drink and a snack. My partner had a yoghurt coated flapjack/cake and I had a Vegan Chocolate Brownie, which was delicious! (The brownie was a big hit with our toddler, who kept asking me for 'more cake!')Reasonable prices, friendly and efficient staff, with a nice sea view.

I love places that have all day veggie breakfasts! Good coffee too. Was busy so you know its good! Close to the harbour.

We had a good appetite after our dolphin spotting trip and enjoyed avocado and poached eggs followed by cappuccino and raspberry flapjack. Good choices on the menu including all day breakfasts. Window overlooks sea vista. Friendly service.

Really nice seafood linguine. Staff are nice too. A couple of them seemed a little flustered when I visited so could have smiled more.

Stopped for a quick drink. Myself and my daughter had a milkshake and my husband had a coke. Milkshake was nice. A male staff member seemed a bit hostile, but the lady who was helping was extremely nice. We sat on the terrace with our dog, pleasant views per the bay.

Friendly staff lovely food and great views over the bay for dolphin spotting. There were 2 children and 4 adults we all enjoyed a cooked breakfast and chicken nuggets and chips for the children at 10 30 am!!

Popped here just to have a couple of beers and a sit down to enjoy the view from the terrace, friendly staff and quick service. Very reasonable prices too, can't complain. We would go back here again.

Went to New quay for the day while on holiday so called into the old watch house for something to eat.this is such a lovely place lovely tasting food very friendly staff I would highly recommend this restaurant

We popped in for lunch (light Bite) over the weekend. The views from the outside eating area were perfect. The food helpings were bigger than expected and good value for money. The inside bar area needs some updating to make it look more inviting / professional as does the 'casual Summer staff' who seemed to be larking around rather than serving customers.

Very busy. No gluten free choice available except jacket potato. Quite a poor option. Food ok but due to lack of GF options, we won’t be back.

Excellent food excellent service what more could you ask . Oh yes superb views across Cardigan bay towards Aberystwyth and Snowdonia.

Pleasant restaurant with a good view of the beach from inside, if you're lucky to have a window table. There is also some outside seating which is very nice if the weather suits. The food is similar to good pub grub and yhe the prices reflect this, good value. Staff are always welcoming and efficient.
