This chip shop was reccomended by a former local as one of the best in the town. I am certainly not a local but we were not charged to sit down, the portion size was decent and I'm a guy who loves my food, The food was well cooked and I cannot fault the service. As a foodie I liked this place and tried a rissole for the first time. 😋

Advise to tradesmen / builders - If your not from the area then don’t spend your money here. Customer service poor- very small portions & extremely pricey! Charged us £1.80 to sit down and eat when the shop was empty! Never again

Food was undercooked and inedible. Chips looked anaemic. Portions are tiny and chicken chunks are now tiny and over expensive. Beyond disappointing after 20 years of eating here.

Have been coming here for years but now find portions are smaller, overpriced and food cold ….. with a hair in it! Half the table had their food and had nearly finished before the other half of the table got theirs. Standards of hygiene have dropped, portion size reduced but put on smaller plates to try to make them look bigger, and prices are far too costly now for us to continue to visit. I appreciate all costs have increased but to see standards overall dropping have been the tipping point, and sadly, we will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Had really good fish and chips tonight...as per usual...

We left our booked Italian meal out with half hungry stomachs. 3 corses and this pig was still hungry! We popped round the fish and chip bar and ordered one small chips and 2 sausage and chips and MY GOD!!! The chips weren’t swimming in grease like other fish and chip bars but were perfectly seasoned! Also, there wasn’t to much salt to send someone into a cardiac arrest! This was AMAZING! Definitely recommend

Absolutely disgusting chips, dirty toilets, the girls were young and inexperienced, i had the chicken curry it came in a breakfast bowl and it had 6 tiny pieces of chicken the bowl was only quarter full and it didn't even cover my chips, i will never go back in there even if i was starving , ps £1.00 for a slice of bread and butter, i spent £10 i felt i was let down badly 😞

Visited many times & for me, the best chips in Cardigan. Nice chunky chips & good size portions. The menu board is insane - takes about 10 minutes just to read everything on it!!

Vegetarian rating: 3 (not much choice) This fish and chips shop's vegetarian burger would *almost* be superior to most other similar eateries - except sadly, the burgers were slightly burned at the edges. The bun was good quality, despite being white bread. Also, there were some cucumber and tomato slices. The chips were very good. So well worth a visit, in the hope that the veggie burgers don't get overly grilled. It wasn't the cheapest meal ever at a fish and chip shop, but the quality ingredients and the quantities were good value for money.

A basic but perfectly good fish and chip bar with an extensive menu. There were clues that cleanliness might have given way to economy because the salt and pepper were in cheap plastic shakers that had been refilled repeatedly but never cleaned. We were the only people in there at the time but service was still a bit slow.

Was in Cardigan yesterday, parked up briefly and from the High Street could smell chips!! I followed the smell and ended up at the Cardigan Arms Chip Shop. Decided on Rissole and Chips (I don’t eat fish). Amazing, really nice, home made, filling and value for money. Highly recommend, will be back when I’m in Cardigan next.

Paid a visit yesterday with my nephew for late lunch prior to cinema visit, very good choice on the menu lovely fresh food and staff were great, only complaint is the table not cleaned inbetween customers but its a lovely restaurant and is my go to when on a visit, which is why im here again

Ordered fish & chips, seemed promising as there was quite a wait whilst the fish was freshly cooked. It was a nice piece of fish with crispy batter, but unfortunately it was very greasy. As it was in tray with the chips they became greasy too.

Last minute decision to have fish and chips so checked out the reviews which were mixed. Decided to give them a try as close to our holiday accommodation, First impressions was a good traditional chippy with no frills. Picked cod and chips from the large chalk board menu and waited a short time for it to be freshly cooked. Returned to house, plated up and ate. Fish was moist and tasty and the chips retained their crispness. All in all very satisfactory and would recommend.

Great food, good size portions, very reasonably priced and is in a great location. Well worth a visit!

Best chips and curry sauce ever

Have been to this chip shop for years and went today for a full breakfast. What a disappointment. The food was cold, burnt and completely inedible. Food on plate that shouldn’t have been there. They didn’t know what a cappuccino was and so offer a so called milky coffee instead that arrived looking like a cup or tar. Tea looked and tasted like it had been stewing for days. When the rude waitress came over her customer service was non existent. Basically looked at us and said what’s wrong with it. Picked up the plates and left never to be heard from again. No apology or offer of replacement or anything. Extremely poor!!!! We have up waiting and ended up leaving and had a lovely breakfast at StationRd cafe over the bridge instead. Shame I didn’t get pictures of the inedible food before it went back but i did get one of the “tasty” toast.

To maintain our tradition of eating a chippy tea, out in the open air, whilst on holiday we called in to the Cardigan Arms on 22.02.2022 and sat down by the river to tuck in This is a great little chippy serving good quality, fresh fish, well battered, a good sized portion of chips (even the small sized portion had a good quantity) and a wide selection of other items (my wife doesn't like fish so it's great to have a choice of chicken nougats for example rather than just pies) We loved it, the tradition continues and would highly recommend

Food was absolutely delicious. As soon as I saw the older lady I knew it would be good. The gent before us had the last of the curry sauce... so 'grandma' made some more! Were very helpful with local knowledge of what to do/see. 100% reccommend.

Decided on fish and chips when visiting Cardigan. Noticed there were a couple of chippys in the area, so asked a local, where they would recommend. Everything was excellent, fresh cod and chips. Bread from the local bakery I assume as so soft and fresh. Highly recommended

Very very good food...I don’t know what the visitors below are on about and even commenting on the lovely owner. Great food always. Burgers are butchers burgers, fish is always fresh as are the lovely chips.

popped in to Cardigan before booking in to the guest house where we were due to stay for a few days and needed food. food was a loose term this time ...chips old and dry ...fish not fully cooked and very watery as cooked from frozen. waitresses doing the best they can but management not so good. ate the meal as we had nothing to eat on the journey up did not use it again.

I've been going to this chippy for years, all ways been a favourite of mine, havnt been in a long time so I decided to go for lunch today, what a disappointment, I got colslaw, chips and lasagne... The coleslaw was cheap and nasty with a horrible after taste, the lasagne was left in the microwave tub it was bought in, and I could barely chew it, it was so rubbery, even the chips tasted cheap and nasty, won't be eating here again, pity really

Been coming to Cardigan for many years and have always had delicious food from the Cardigan Arms. We’ve tried a few in the area including the one in Fishguard rated as being in the top 10 in the whole of Wales which wasn’t a patch on the Cardigan Arms. I’ve always found all the staff to be friendly and welcoming.

Good menu, decent chips, friendly service good prices. A good amount of chips, unlike other establishments nearby. My "go to" chippy, every time.

The whole point of a fish and chip shop is good fish and chips, unfortunately this place doesn’t live up to it. I wouldn’t go again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it.

We visited Cardigan this week and were looking for somewhere for lunch and noticed a sign for The Cardigan Arms, which was a shame as after eating here we wish we had stumbled across somewhere else! The main part of a chip shop is good chips.... not here though!

I would not recommend this chip shop. The food is not fresh! Chips tasted really old. Worse is the older lady, I think she is the owner, she is so rude and I would go as far to say that she doesn’t like tourists! Go elsewhere!

The fish batter was soggy, the chips were old and the burger tasted microwaved. Under staffed and the owners are very rude. Not impressed. Would NOT recommend!

Absolutely disgusting. Cheese pasty? More like a home made fried pie. Yuk Fish? Thin as anything and dripping in oil. Yuk Rissole? More like a home made hand grenade. Yuk Chips? Well passable but drown them in vinegar and plenty of salt. Will definately not be going there again.

Only takeaways currently available due to covid rules. Good value food with a polite service. Chips are excellent. Cafevis clean with good social distancing measures at present but good seating for the day normality returns.

Fire traditional fish and chips this is one of the better ones. Although the peas were a strange vivid green colour not something I've seen normally for a chippy. The fish is cooked to order but doesn't take long because you're asked as you walk in what you'd like so by the time is your turn the fish is cooked. In Cardigan on an errand and called in for lunch. Friendly and quick service without a long wait before your food arrived. Food well cooked. Cafe clean and tidy. Good value at @£15 for two meals + drinks.

Cardigan Arms has lots of tables, waitress service and a very wide selection of meals. The staff are incredibly friendly, well worth a visit as the restaurant is very efficient and well run.

After the disappointment of Tenby we decided to try this place (forgive the pun) in Cardigan.
