A lovely stay here on our bike packing journey through Wales. There was a bike store and they kindly let us use their washing machines for our cycling kit. Breakfast was delicious and for dinner there was the option to order cold platters (as long as you ordered before 6pm) which were also very tasty - see picture. Would recommend to anyone cycling through the area!

This hotel is really well located for walks around the area. The hotel dates back to the 16th century but has recently gone through a refurbishment. The rooms are really well thought out with an operatic Italian vibe and have everything you need for a comfortable stay! The shower is really modern and amazing! The stay also comes with breakfast, and it was superb, coming down the stairs to the smell of freshly baked pastrys and a cooked breakfast served to your table! There was also fresh fruit and yogurts and granola. The hotel also offers services for weddings and other events and has some spectacular views over the valleys! For the best price i recommended looking on the website or ringing them for a personal discount.

Plas Dolguog appealed to be class-apart with a strong character best suited for leisure. The site maintenance is impeccable. Friendly host. Good chance one falls in love with the place. The balcony views are beautiful. Love every bit of it ❤️

Plas Dolguog is an amazing bed and breakfast that my husband Pree and I always stop at for work and for vacation. The staff are so friendly and incredibly helpful. They answer quickly, they keep the rooms incredibly clean, with views of the mountains. The breakfast is so delicious and it's perfect every single time we go. They have juices and honey that's locally sourced and they take great care in maintaining the property. They are attentive to every question and every need and consistently take feedback to make this place a safe, family friendly, and incredibly comfortable stay.

The hotel is located in a beautiful setting a short drive away from shops, restaurants, bars etc. However the Hotel bar is well stocked and the restaurant food is of a very good standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we were in was spacious and comfortable but I have taken one star off as I felt the decor was a bit tired and there was a bath with a mixer shower. I have to say that I knew about the lack of a power shower when booking.

Great setting, lovely views, friendly staff, nice play area for kids. Shame food and drink prices have shot up recently. Needs more outside tables. Food served 4 to 8pm and drinks 4 to 9pm , which is a bit off putting when you fancy an evening drink. Opening hours very short compared to most pubs and restaurants.

WoW.. Going the extra mile springs to mind. My Family and I (8) in total stayed over for a long bank holiday weekend close by and ventured out looking for somewhere to eat. Finding this off road rertreat after being turned away from a local establishment (locals only) I ventured inside to be welcomed by a lovely lady by the name of Tina. After listening to my previous encounter elsewhere, Tina took up the challenge and found a space for us to eat.Initially outside then a family table inside. Service fantastic / Food fantastic / Surroundings fantastic and just to add what a real pleasure it was for the chef to take time interacting and educating the grand children with regards to the Golden Eagle statues. I cannot fault the professional attitude and service from Tina and her staff who made my family and I feel truly welcome. Tina, you are a STAR.. Thank you

Another most enjoyable stay at Plas Dolguog Hotel, our fifth. But despite the usual excellent service from its staff, it is quite clear that the hotel and gardens are in a sorry state, not the restaurant though. Grandma’s Garden, once a joy to walk round, is now overgrown and neglected. The decor in places is in need of refreshing and cleaning. The toilet seat in our en-suite was very loose and, at times, dangerous. Surely the room attendant would have noticed? But despite the need for some sensitive TLC the hotel does retain a feeling of welcome, peace and charm. Not sure if we’ll make a sixth visit though.

went there for a sunday lunch, last visit was many years ago. place has changed hands, so we were looking forward to going, 4 of us. the setting is wonderful on the banks of the river dyfi, overlooking the valley, really nice. warm welcome. the usual selection on a sunday menu, something for everyone. not many people eating there either. the starter was really good - prawn salad, the pate was ok but should have had toast with it not bread, my opinion. the main of beef and lamb was ok, nothing special, looked as though the meat had been put on the plate a while, the vegetarian option was stodgy and heavy and very oily. we had to wait for the veg to be delivered to the table, had to ask for the wine list whilst we had our starters, only for it to arrive just before the main course......we did not bother with sweet. all in all, things have not changed here, the food is really only average, the service is the same. a real disappointment. left after meal, went home for a cup of tea!

Family booked a weekend stay in what on first appearances looks like a lovely little spot hidden far away from noise and distractions. The most exciting thing that happens is a passing train now and again. No shower caps provided, no papers available, food is pretty much a disaster, tired and shabby décor. Loud music (Harry Secombe?) on a loop that went round at least three times while we were having dinner. Garden only open on Wednesdays and Fridays and admission is not included in the cost of the stay. So much room for improvement...

We stumbled upon this place and made sunday reservations without reading reviews first, we had a great surprise, the place is wonderful. The staff are professional and provide a great service, they are discreet and unintrusive whilst being warm, freindly and efficient and that is a rare skill. You don't feel rushed, the food is exquisitely cooked. We have been back several times. The restaurant is situatued in an extension with big glass windows and doors overlooking the gardens and Cambrian mountains, there is a place for children to play (and they are beautifully accommodating of children and engage with them which makes them feel welcome too). There are no negatives, it's an established well run hotel, with excellent facilities for large gatherings, weddings and parties.

Nestled in the embrace of the Beacons, the Tai'r Bull Inn is a cosy country pub offering fabulous food for all. Katie & team welcome you with genuine warmth, a cheerful smile & a professional ease that makes for a relaxed & and enjoyable visit. I know I'm preaching to the converted if you've already dined here, but if you haven't yet sampled the delights on offer, then what are you waiting for? We have eaten here many times over the past year, from both the regular & special menus & each time the food has been amazing! Everything is cooked to perfection & and the portion sizes are not for the faint-hearted. Service always comes with a smile & nothing is too much trouble (a special thank you to Jasmine). So, if you haven't done so yet, get yourself booked in, you won't regret it.

We travel from the Midlands to Wales fairly regularly and found this gem a few weeks ago. First visit was great, it's a lovely dog friendly pub/restaurant. Nicely decorated, friendly staff, good beer and food, all good. This time no different. We had lunch late and turned up here for dinner but not feeling overly hungry. They were fine with an adult having a kid's meal, and I had a sandwich. Just nice to find somewhere that is happy to accommodate your needs. We had great food again, a bowl of water for the dog, kids enjoyed their food, service was good, friendly and timely. I don't think there's much more you could ask from a restaurant. This is now a regular stop for us, really nice, you should definitely visit!!
