The Green Inn in Powys

First time here since new owners and definitely won't be the last. There was a good choice, plentiful sized portions and piping hot, sensibly priced . The staff were friendly and attentive, highly recommend and definitely return.

Had a lovely meal here - excellent garlic mushrooms and a good steak pie and chips. My cousin had garlic prawns, gammon and Eton Mess for dessert. Meal was beautifully cooked and very well presented. Service was excellent too - staff very attentive. It was quite busy but our food came quickly and there was not a long wait between courses. We had a very enjoyable evening and will be going back very soon.

We’ve visited previously while holidaying in the area and always had great food. We booked again this year but on arrival we were told there was no chef. We were very disappointed that our booking had been confirmed but then no one messaged us to tell us the kitchen wouldn’t be open. We noticed it’s also up for sale

I booked The Green Inn at relatively short notice for a car club to visit. This was 25 cars. Millie was amazing and organised the menu and pre orders. She communicated brilliantly and was very accommodating. We arrived and food was dished out expediently, it was hot and very tasty, not to mention very good value. The car park is large and the garden too (although it was raining so we sat indoors). Overall a fabulous place to visit and VERY recommended.

Excellent food and service yesterday for our quite large Sports Car group. Sunday 1st September. Thank you so much for your hospitality freindlyness and welcoming staff. Much appreciated I highly recommend your establishment. You made the finish of our long day drive our meet and a fitting close to our day.

We scouted out this place beforehand as having good food and dog friendly, most important as we had our four legged friend with us. On arrival we got a warm welcome from the owners and the dogs and were seated by the window. We ordered a smash burger and a vegetarian curry, the chef came out and said he would have to make a new batch so would take an extra 10 minutes or so if that was ok, not an issue. The food arrived and was just what was needed after the rainy walk earlier. We also ordered a Pecan Pie and Ice Cream to share and the dog got a biscuit, so everyone was happy. A great meal in a lovely location with welcoming owners, highly recommended if visiting Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall.

We stopped here on Friday night and had such a good meal. The staff were really friendly and attentive. I am very fussy about my steak but Friday steak night is well worth a visit. The steak was cooked to perfection and the meal was such good value. We will definitely be going back!

Looooovely, fish and chips was great, big portion and tasted great. nice outdoor area to relax in after a drive with a nice view. Would happily stop by again if I ever find myself

Fantastic stop off on the way to Snowdonia! We stopped off on our ride over into Wales for some lunch. Food was great and the staff were very friendly.

Very disappointing food, half cold, soggy chips. Burger bun tough. Food felt microwaved from the freezer. We will not be visiting again

A very poor evening meal, sent first lot of chips back as burnt, second lot came and were just dripping in fat and hardly cooked. Food was expensive for what we had and the poor quality.

Went to a music festival in the grounds and had burgers and hotdogs cooked by staff which were really good. Bar staff working the outdoor bar were pleasant and welcoming. Grounds were lovely and well maintained.

Went for the music festival, was a great day. Very well organised with great facilities, no long queues for loos or beer. Excellent music festival and atmosphere, highly recommend. Food looks amazing, so will be back in the next week or so to eat.

We were a group of 25 cyclists stopping here on the last leg of our charity bike ride. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, taking all our orders, bringing food out quickly (which was fresh and delicious), and even generously donating to our cause. This is the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever had. Everything was perfectly cooked and presented. The Green Inn is spotless clean and the service was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.

Called in on the way back from the North Wales coast. Extremely pleasant staff, made to feel very welcome. Though very early evening, there were a lot of customers. The weather was lovely and there is a lovely lawn area with seating at the front. Lovely countryside views. We ordered fish and chips and lasagne… food was fresh and delicious. The battered fish was huge, and the chips were plentiful! The owner chatted with us and staff attentive. Nice atmosphere….highly recommended.

We visited on Saturday 27th April as a group of 11. We did book via Facebook messenger but it hadn't been recorded however that was no issue. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. A table was quickly prepared upstairs. The staff came up and took orders for drinks and delivered them and then took the food order. All the food arrived piping hot and hot plates. A few of us had the cod and chips and it was delicious light crispy batter and home made skin on chips. Some also had the signature burger which was again very well presented tasty and hot. The pub was very busy. We saw a fancy dress party arrive and also the football team were celebrating winning the league. The staff just kept working so hard. They were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend this pub. They had a good choice of food and drinks available. Reasonable prices. Thank you

Where do I start, the service was dreadful the staff were extremely rude, my lamb burger wasn't cooked so I sent it back and the look I had was astonishing,, I was offered something else so I choose a panini with tuna, cheese and red onion,,no red union and the cheese was hardly melted, the chips were like a limp lettuce. In the end I gave up and just left,,the experience was disbelief and disappointing to say the least, I would not return even if it was no charge

Valentines night/ wedding anniversary meal. 3 courses each one superb. Starter brilliant followed by a beautiful fillet steak, then sweet was a orange and chocolate mousse were the terracotta pot it was served in was made out of orange chocolate. The service was brilliant with efficient polite girls. It was a pleasure and definitely returning

Went for Sunday Lunch, it was excellent. The meat was lovely and tender and a good portion, all vegetables were cooked perfectly, roast and mash potatoes were perfect and the cauliflower cheese was the best. Reasonably priced, good service and pleasant surroundings, my partner and I could not fault anything, we will definitely be going there again.

We booked The Green Inn for a family birthday meal. We all (12) had the Sunday roast... choices were Lamb or Beef, plus veggie option. The food was outstanding, amazing value for money. Service was fabulous. It's a real gem of a family pub and we would highly recommend it. We will definitely be booking again soon.

Delicious Sunday roast followed by a delicious fruit crumble. Don't normally review pub/ restaurants, however so impressed needed to share!

Second time we have been to the Green Inn when we have been visiting the area and it never disappoints. Went last night and both the food and the service were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff deserve praise for how well they interacted with the customers. Will definitely return next time we are staying in the area.

This is our first visit to this superb venue and it won't be the last. The food was absolutely fabulous, presentation, taste and service. A really good establishment for food, drink and a wonderful place to meet friends or business partners. Excellent and great for all. Welll worth many a visit.

Stopped here over night with the camper van. Exhausted and hungry from our travel. Staff were awesome and made us very welcome. Other customers were very welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing. Be warned tho. The green inn burger leaves no room for the beautiful desserts. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended

This was our first visit since the new owners have taken over and we were all hugely impressed. The menu appears to be fairly standard pub grub but that is deceiving as the quality of the food is way above what we have been served at many other local establishments. Two of us had a steak off the specials board and it was one of the best quality steaks I have had in many a year (I eat a lot of steaks) and two others had pies from the standard menu. The pies were gorgeous and homemade and it was explained to us that many of the ingredients (including the steaks) are sourced very locally. The staff were friendly, helpful, polite and efficient so overall and excellent evening, we will definitely be returning.

Absolutely wonderful... The staff were attentive, pleasant and catered to our every need. The food was excellent and having two menus made it even more enjoyable as the food varied from basket meals to dinners. The pricing was very affordable and we will definitely be coming here again

Unfortunately there was a CASH ONLY drinks van, with no customers, at the bottom of the beer garden playing INANE POP MUSIC and ruining the peace. Why ruin a beautiful spot with idiot music? Who carries cash these days? If I ever see it again I hope it has no music and takes card like it's 2023.

The food was delicious. It was steak night and everything that was on the plate was perfect. Great atmosphere, friendly and polite staff and very reasonably priced. The location is stunning.

Called in after a day out. Food had stopped been served, however the very friendly owner made us some food and it was cooked amazingly. We had 1/2 chicken with chips and salad, very succulent chicken with yummy crispy skin and a nice fresh salad. Friendly and prompt staff, 10/10 for food. Would definitely return. 😊

We went as a family party of 17. We were seated in the upstairs room and all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The price was reasonable as well.

Nice pub! Staff really welcoming and food was delicious. I would have given a 5 star review if we weren't waiting so long to eat and it wasn't so cold. In saying that it was busy so fair enough. Good choice of food, lasagne, pizzas were lovely however the steak pie wasn't as nice. Really good that it is dog friendly, added bonus.

Fantastic food and service. Went all out to accommodate 44 of us for a three course xmas meal. Food was 5* quality and all served piping hot. All staff were lovely. Highly recommend and i am sure every one of us will be returning. 😀😀😀😀😀

Wonderful pub in stunning location with expansive views of the hills. We visited while travelling home. Great atmosphere and full of locals who were very friendly. My type of pub, if only it was not 200 miles from home. I tried the station bitter which was certainly to my taste. Will make a point of visiting again and have a meal too On a sunny warm day the beer garden is the place to be.

Visited with four friends today and once again had a smashing meal. Can thoroughly recommend the beer battered cod and homemade chips. The food was excellent, well presented and good value for money and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Good job staff!

Called for lunch, lovely welcome from staff and roaring fire, we had pate and chicken goujons both very nice. For mains we had steak and ale pie and hunters chicken the pie had lots of meat and a lovey gravy. Very nicely presented on a lovely plate. No room for pudding. This is an oasis in the Oswestry dessert for good pubs that were open over the Xmas period.The food is excellent , good value and the staff very helpful and friendly. It is also dog friendly. We had a light lunch which was excellent, everything fresh and the chips to die for. Not oven chips with a funny taste but proper chips.Definitely recommend.

Was dubious about eating here as previously had been very slow and basic. However we where totally surprised at the meal, service and price.. Will definitely be visiting again.

The four of us arrived on time and were pleased to find parking as everyone would need it as it's fairly remote.We entered to find a busy bar &amp; restaurant and was informed our booked table was upstairs ?.Not too good as one of our party has stair climbing problems. We got to our table but not before my wife had slipped up on numerous food on the landing at the top of the stairs outside the kitchen.Also the stair handrail had a sticky gravy like substance on it which soiled our hands.We sat at our table and was then informed that we had to vacate quickly as the table was booked for a second sitting which was never mentioned to us when we had booked ?. We mentioned this to the waitress and she very abruptly &amp; defensively said "I didn't take the booking".We also mentioned the dangerous fooddebris which she said would be cleaned up. We had to walk down the steep stairs, get a plate &amp; queue at the carvery. We then had to walk back up the stairs with our carvery &amp; gravy. Not good. We could then see where all the food &amp; gravy up the handrail &amp; stairs came from.The food was OK but we couldn't enjoy it as we were under pressure to finish &amp; leave.Would I go again CERTAINLY NOT.

A large group of us had a great meal at the pub, now that it is under new management. The food was very good and there were plenty of options. We were impressed with the service and the bar staff. Worth noting the starters are a very good size. Thank you

Travelling to Pwllheli from East Midlands, was hoping to make it all the way but kids woke desperate for food (Apparently being asked to wait another hour for food was classed as child cruelty, according to my 11 and 8 year olds anyway). couldn’t find a mcDonalds or Subway nearby but stumbled across this little gem. Food, service and price were great. Kids have asked if they can revisit on the way home which is always a good sign. Would highly recommend

Warm welcome and lovely pub atmosphere. Laid back lunch from the two course menu. Beer and food very nice. Home cooked food which was very good value for money. Could sit here all day but too full up and sleepy. Would definitely recommend.
