Lovely friendly pub. Beautiful views from the garden. Fantastic food.

Lovely pub garden. Top tier chicken nuggets. We had two adult portions and a childs. All was demolished.

We're staying at the Bodyddon Pods, a 5 Minute Drive away, and were looking for a local Traditional Pubs, for Drinks and an Evening Meal. We're huge Fans of a, "Traditional Pub" (in terms of Hospitality, Atmosphere, Decor,Pub Grub, and Real Ales), and having driven past a few times during our stay, we realised that The Old New Inn had the potential to meet this criteria. Our belief was further strengthened by the positive reviews read on here, and from Locals we've spoken to. Prior to visiting, we weren't sure of the Food Serving Times, so phoned up to find out. We initially couldn't get through, but it was a nice touch of the Landlord, to immediately return our Phone Call, and provide us with the Information. The Pub is located on the Main Street in Llanfyllin, opposite the Spar, and is a Traditional Timber Build. There is a small Beer Garden, Undercover, to the right, with the Entrance to the Pub being on the Main Street, comprising of both Steps, and a Ramp. The Pub's interior is Traditionally Decorated, and the Main Area consists of the Bar, Seating and Tables, TV, and just off this Area, the Toilets (which were nice and clean). We received an extremely warm welcome from the Landlord and Landlady, both of whom displayed excellent Customer Service Skills, and were extremely attentive, throughout. There were a Couple of Local Regulars present, who were also extremely welcoming, and chatted pleasantly to us throughout. My Wife and I are Real Ale Fans, so we sampled the 2 available (The Rev James, and Wainwright's Gold. The Rev James was the preferred choice!). Unlike other contributiors, we had no issue with the Time we had to wait for our food, after ordering it. We didn't have to wait long at all, and were delighted with our choices of order. My Wife and Daughter both had Fish and Chips (the Fish was delicious, and highly recommended), Our Son had Sausage and Chips, and I had The New Old Inn Burger (a Burger topped with Extra Mature Cheddar, Mushrooms, Bacon, Lettuce, and Onions. Delicious!). We all had Chips: you can have regular or Triple Fried: go for the Triple Fried, as they're absolutely stunning!). Food came to just over £50, and we were happy with that. We're planning to go back for another Meal, before going Home. We'll definitely be trying out the Dessert Menu (full of Traditional British Offerings), and very possibly,one of the Sizzling Platters. This really is a Gem of a Pub, and we would heavily recommend it as a Place to Eat and Drink. Congratulations to the Landlord and Landlady, for such a brilliant, "Hostelry".

Lovely owners made us feel really welcome. Indoor seating is a little limited but there is plenty outside. They serve food which we tried and it was very nice

The landlord and landlady are lovely, they opened the kitchen for us after hearing that we had made the trip for food after visiting before in the not too distant past. The food was slow but that is to be expected when the kitchen is not ready nor open. The location is great and is on the way to Lake Vrynwy from Welshpool. The food was good, however there was room for improvement but I would definitely visit again in the future.

Old fashioned pub with good beer, but no one in.

The pub was relatively quiet with one large table and a table of 2, we were told their would be a wait on food which was fine. Then the large table complained about waiting nearly 2 hours by this time it was gone 9 and this food was coming out a few at a time, the table of 2’s meals even come out before large table had all theirs We got ours and the wait wasn’t too long, just seemed very disorganised and the people in the kitchen were definitely not chefs maybe not even cooks it wasn’t the best, our order was a chicken sizzler and was so oily it was running down the fork, the gammon was definitely the better option even though a bit salty to taste Then the karaoke started and we decided to leave The pub has potential unfortunately just need a chef and happier staff.

A party of 10 of us booked for 7.30. The first food came half an hour later. Then every 20 minutes 2 more meals came. The last one was an hour and three-quarters after we ordered. One of our party gave up waiting and got her money back. The food was tasty but the wait totally spoiled our evening out. Also, the ambience of the pub is non-existent.

Dog friendly and people friendly. Linda and Steve made us feel welcome immediately. Food is beautiful and company even better. Visit now! You won't regret it

Nice old style pub, great staff and food.

This pub is so lovely, the owners are really friendly and welcoming, and this is a dog friendly pub as well and our little doggie loved running around and playing with the owners. The food was absolutely amazing, great choice and tasted so good. Will be returning when I'm ever in the area again.

Typischer englischer Gasthof. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, Essen ist gut. Leider sind die Zimmer eher für nicht Luxusverwöhnte. Sehr einfach gehaltene Zimmer und das Vad ist teils auf dem Flur.

A bit of mixed bag . Good beer and drinks very cheap. Good beer garden and seem to have invested in good outside furniture. Not sure what is going on inside . Doesn’t smell good and most seemed closed off - maybe it is getting refurbished. Friendly staff and great in beer garden during heatwave.

Such a lovely place in beautiful area. Owners are very friendly. The rooms with own toilet are clean and atmospheric. Pub with good food, variety of beers and nice garden. Totally recommend!

Stayed over for a MTB race, WES. For the price, this was good value ( based on 2 sharing a twin) overall the food was good portions where great ( I had the big burger) and the parmo which I enjoyed! Also the beer was well priced

Really amazing location and drive to hotel... Loved the drive and sceneries... Hotel room I got was neat and tidy with good English breakfast, very polite and supportive staff. They had a pub with good food options open till late night on Saturday.

This place is a gem, food great kudos to the chef, barstaff more than welcoming as where the locals well worth more than one visit will hopefully return one day and enjoy the same experience again

Had visited the pub earlier for a quick drink, bit grubby but friendly. Hoped to eat at Seeds but fully booked, same as the hotel across the road. Choice of Pizza from Spar or try a meal at the old new inn. BIG bloody mistake, certainly not to be repeated in this lifetime. Ordered 2 x scampi and a fish and chips. Not sure what fish they used but wasnt cod or haddock, and as for the scampi, well let's just say they were both a bit Fresh!!! The hand cut chips with the fish and and the fries with the scampi were totally undercooked. Plates were left with large amounts of food still evident but barman didnt even bother to ask if ever was alright. Make ur own decision!

Friendly staff, very clean, amazing food.

We arrived here for our first night in Wales, we arrived quite early however the owners were very kind and let us use the facilities and drop our bags off! When we went back for check in they took us up to our room and explained how to use the TV and made sure we had everything we needed! The rooms were spacious and lovely and cozy (a home away from home!) We then went out for a couple drinks and came back to have a few in the pub - we were late for food but this wasn’t too much for them and they made us some cheesy chips and chicken nuggets! (They are to die for) Sophie the lovely bartender made us amazing cocktails 🍹 and we even put some music on the duke box! We had a brilliant night with the regulars and met a few doggies in there! We had the pleasure of the owners joining everyone for the night! Beds are super comfy and I slept brilliant! If this wasn’t enough already we woke up and went down for breakfast and it was delicious! I cannot thank Linda, Steven, Sophie and all the regulars for a fab time In Wales!

Linda and Stephen were incredible! Made us feel very welcome, Sophie was amazing behind the bar too! Lovely night in a very clean room. Locals made the night very pleasant and felt at home from the minute we walked in. Chicken nuggets are to die for!!!!

Food was fresh and hot good value for money staff were very polite and friendly

Having driven passed here a number of times we decided to pop in. First impressions on entering the bar area is small with a small seating area to the left and to the right with the bar in front. we were made to feel welcome ordered our drinks and took a seat. The area itself was small and ok. The toilets however are in need of some modernisation with holes in the plasterboard and ruttled up carpet. There is a beer garden to the back but we didn’t venture so can’t really comment on that. The pub is dog friendly and has a dog smell to it hence why we didn’t eat here. It’s ok if you don’t mind dogs, but I don’t I will be going back any time soon

We had just arrived and needed food it was the first pub we found. The food was really lovely (best chicken nuggets ever according the kids) the staff were really friendly and it was really relaxed. The dog was welcome too which was a great bonus.

We had a great dinner here. The staff were very friendly and enthusiastic about the food - on their recommendation we both had the King Prawn sizzler, which was excellent. Great value for money, a nice beer garden and quick service.

After a lovely long walk up cader idris mountain we stayed here for 1 night the room was big and very clean the bes was very comfortable had a good night's sleep we had a lovely breakfast in the morning linda and Stephen couldn't do enough . Lovely pub we was too tired to have a drink but we definitely come back and recommend anyone to stay here lovely local people xx very down to earth xx

Well kept Black Sheep. Magnificent burgers

We visited this inn last week on a couple of afternoons, and we really enjoyed it, a good selection of drinks where on offer. On the second visit we ordered food too, as the timing for meals was earlier than our hotel and we like a change anyway. Well I have to say top marks to the landlady/chef she produced the best handmade authentic burger, with pretty much the best of everything on it for us. It was honestly scrumptious. She also told us that they have just started letting some rooms, so that may be of interest to visitors also.

We went for a few drinks and ordered some food. The food is always very nice and freshly made. Always a warm welcome XX

Great evening having burgers and drinks around the fire in the garden. Very friendly staff and locals great food and COVID safe. We rerun here time after time. If Carlsberg made pubs this is it!!! We love the Old New Inn.

Called in here today for the very first time and was welcomed ike a regular, loved it.

Called here on new years day after a long walk. We ordered the best cheese and onion sandwich we have ever had. Massive door step butty with loads of filling . Washed down with some good real ale. Excellent grub

Excellent meal, good plateful, loved the chips that came with my steak. Other half had a lasagne which was just as good. Massive plus for us was that our dog was welcome too, will definately be calling back and recommending to all.

Always a good meal at decent price. Use the pub regularly as I’m local.would recommend to all. Sunday lunch is also good. They also offer fish and chips to eat in or take away.

Spent a great evening in here with some very friendly locals. We ate the rib-eye steak with a baked potato and it was superb. People either side of us were also eating and their food look equally as tasty. Don’t be put off by the photo of the burger in real life they look great. The service behind the bar was fast and efficient with brill prices. This pub offers superb home cooked meal at a fantastic price.

Lovely local pub. Great selection of real ales, friendly staff and welcoming locals. Badger the dog was made a great fuss of by one and all, and literally dragged us through the door every time we were in the vacinity. Honest. That's really how it was. There's a great feeling of it being a local hub, with a 'function room' out back that is also a cinema for the film club.

Came here for a work do waited a long time for our mains then even longer for dessert, chocolate fudge cake was lukewarm and the custard was very thin

Popped in the old new inn Saturday lunch,had such a nice reception we went back sunday evening. We both had a cooked meal(steak) ,It was great.We stayed in the pub till closing,all the locals made us feel welcome especially Steve,Linda,Pete and skippy. This is a proper pub,and the food is served in the bar. I wish it was my local! Many thanks we'll be back Joe and Michelle
