Although not eating I was given a warm welcome. The pint is very cold and fresh,the staff are very friendly and got to meet a farmer by the name of boyo who has a great sense of humour and was a nice character

Tai'r Bull is an Inn that serves excellent quality pub food, for us it is well located to meet up with family. It is good to see it up and running again after disruption with Covid etc. We visited today 21st March, definitely the best pub in the Brecon area. Also a bit of a rarity in that it opens for lunch. Fabulous Sunday lunch for our family, which includes 3 vegans, 1 nut allergy, 2 veggies, 2 omnis and a dog! No fuss or drama, excellent food, good beer, lovely relaxed atmosphere and fast friendly service. Perfect location for walking in the Brecon Beacons. Had the joy of visiting Tai'r Bull Inn yesterday for dinner and cannot recommend enough. The staff were all so kind and happy to help in anyway they could, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was so warm and cosy. The experience was truly enriched by learning about the family's connection to the inn and their history together. A really fabulous experience and definitely somewhere we'll be coming back to. One of THE best Sunday lunches I’ve had in a long, long while. Gorgeous. Especially the rosemary roast spuds. Banging. Great spot, great views, lovely staff. A pleasure to eat there today. Highly recommended. Oh, and the doggie Sunday lunches? A genius idea. The hounds loved them!

Very friendly and welcoming young lady behind the bar. Excellent pint of Butty Bach. Update August Bank Holiday Monday 2023. Back in the Brecon Beacons and as this place had a good "feel" about it on my last visit I thought I would dine there. The sign outside said " Food Served All Day" and as it was a Bank Holiday I went early - 17.45 -and was prepared to wait for a table. The Bank Holiday Menu stated that food would be served until 20.00. I felt sorry for the young girl who served me who explained that they had experienced a busy holiday week end and so the chef had left early and they had stopped doing meals. Still a good pint of Butty Bach but very disappointed.

We stopped in here at 7.30pm on a Thurs. It was quite quiet but the staff were so welcoming. The food choice is good and the portion size is massive! The burger was so tasty and my partner had the curry which looked delicious. The view was spectacular up the valley and across to Pen-y-Fan.

Best pub food I've had in years. Staff so friendly and accommodating. They had a fully booked party of 23 on the night we popped by but they squeezed us in and made us feel very welcome. Very warm cosy environment and will definitely be back again next time I'm in Brecon.

This place was absolutely wonderful for such a traditional pub, the atmosphere there was great and welcoming, the workers are friendly and always have a laugh and I highly recommend the pen y fan patty, it is big, packed with flavours and has a wonderful homemade sauce 😋

What a fantastic team. On Wednesday 26th July 40MPH winds drove me and my 14 year old sons off the mountain after something of a late emergency 'break camp'. We arrived, desperate, at the Tai'r Bull Inn shortly before 10pm, they were just closing; we were almost 10 miles from our parked car. Without hesitation the manager packed the three of us and our soaking wet rucksacks into his car and drove us through torrential rain to our car. I am so grateful for this extraordinary kindness.

We went for a three course lunch here after going for a trip to Alpaca My Boots. The food was delicious and the service was great. Would highly recommend this pub. Prices were very reasonable too! Changing facilities for babies are good as well.

The carpark was overflowing and the pub was full so glad we'd booked. Really lovely food and very friendly service. The dog was just as welcome (maybe more) with her own dish of sausages followed by Welsh doggy ice-cream. I was driving but they'd got a wide selection of interesting beers too.

Phoned up in the off chance of a table when staying in the area. It was busy but they let us know how long it would be and we had a drink outside while waiting. Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Very dog friendly, water bowl brought out for our lab without asking and when we ordered food some complimentary sausages for her too. Food and drink were excellent Would recommend.

We enjoy a lovely lunch sitting in the garden looking at the view. I have a gluten and dairy intolerance and i was catered for. The food was really tasty

No my type of pub!! All tables were set up for lunch and all booked. No where to have a quiet drink. Even the bar had tables set up against it. Gave 3 stars only because they had a table that had been booked for 3oclock(we arrived at 2) so they let us have it for an hour.

Staying at a local campsite last year we found this pub and loved it - on our recent 5 day visit to the same campsite we ate here 3 times - Katie and her daughters couldn’t be more helpful and friendly and between us all we must have tried about 10 different dishes and all were delicious - highly recommend and look forward to our annual trip next year so we can visit the pub again - also very dog friendly and Blake loved his roast and sausages 🐾

Katie I presume the Boss she attacked me at my table in front of my guests and the entire restaurant because I queried the cauliflower cheese ‘portion size which was 3 tiny florets in cheese sauce having specifically asked and paid for a decent portion. She raised her voice altercation style at me and bitterly laid into me screaming they were busy, the place went deadly silent. My advise Katie retire while the goings good. Unfortunately the meat wasn’t freshly roasted as per the menu, ie Welsh shoulder of Lamb etc etc, instead processed frozen tough as old boots meat. In the restaurant game it’s all about care and quality - which was not directed at my table whilst she was happy to have my cash. Last point the lovely girl behind the bar can easily supersede Katie and the beer is good.

25 years ago while hill walking in the Breton Beacons we found ourselves at the Tai’r Bull Inn. Summer 2022 we spent some time in Wales. Looking for a Sunday roast beef dinner, we found ourselves at the Tai’r Bull Inn 25 years later. What a treat! Same cozy dining room feel, great food and service, and great company.

Just got home, we had a lovely family meal,there were 10 of us. The staff were very accommodating to our needs and all our plates were empty. Definitely coming back THANKYOU!

5* roast dinner, 5* cheesecake and 5 * service. Incredible taste to every single part, a proper cooked fresh dinner. I would highly recommend and return. The young ladies serving were extremely polite and efficient too.

Amazing local pub on the way into Brecon. I have been lucky to eat here on several occasions and the food is always amazing. Small village pub with homemade and great tasting food. Would be five stars hands down however they are understaffed and service can be very slow.

Popped in for some food which was nice although the service was terrible. Was took to a table and waited ages for the menu which did not come so went asked a staff member which their response was they had forgot. Then once we had the menu no one come back after 10-15mins even though it was half empty in there so then had to find another member of staff just to take the order. We was probably only another 10min away from having to cook it ourselves.

We have eaten here many times over the past year, from both the regular & special menus & each time the food has been amazing! Everything is cooked to perfection & and the portion sizes are not for the faint-hearted. Service always comes with a smile & nothing is too much trouble (a special thank you to Jasmine). So, if you haven't done so yet, get yourself booked in, you won't regret it.

Amazing hosts amazing clean place and the best is the owners they are just fabulous they go to the extra mile. Just a tip if you are close and looking for a place for breakfast you should pop in the best perfect I had in my life. Brilliant friendly pub, serves food all day which was great after our walk. Food was fab, and the dog even got a sausage for his lunch!!

awesome food and really good value, as a chef myself I find it hard to find good food places as I'm overly critical so expect a higher standard, the chef here has got talent and knows what he's doing, you can tell by the flavours that he cares about his food so no complaints from me. just wish I didn't need to travel an hour each time I want to eat there. will be back soon though.

Called in an off chance as passing by fair play they slotted us in despite being quite busy…I am so glad they did the food was stunning (whoops can’t remember what we had for mains) I had the syrup sponge pudding with custard for desert it was…words cannot describe so good. We will be going again service very good and quick. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely old pub cosy feel to it….wood burner was not lit at the time but lovely when it is I should imagine.

Had a wonderful warm welcome and great hospitality from Katie during my recent two night stay. They certainly know how to make people (and their dogs) feel at home and nothing is too much trouble. Great location, only 5 minute drive from Storey Arms car park which is perfect after walking Pen Y Fan or the nearby National Park. My room was spotless, bed was comfortable and careful thought had been given to every little touch from the dog treats and water bowl, tea, coffee, and biscuits to the lovely soft towels which were much needed after a day walking in the rain . I ate both nights in the pub and the food was great and all home made. Nice to be in a real pub for a change where everyone was very friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to booking my next stay!

Absolutely loved this pub - beautiful location, brilliant food at very fair prices and one of those authentic pub interiors which seem to be so rare these days. Some fabulous walks in the area, which makes this a perfect rest stop.

Incredibly friendly family run pub. Food is all homemade and sourced locally (butcher, who supplies all the meat, came in for a drink whilst we were there). Great knowledge of the area and very welcoming. Highly recommended. Love dogs and our dog enjoyed his ice cream

Didn't stay here as we were camping nearby and visited on three occasions. I would happily stay here though bow I know it exists👍. The staff are really friendly and helpful, particularly with helping to keep our dog cool in the recent heatwave, plenty of water, doggy ice creams etc. They also do dog meals as well as human meals but I didn't try a dog meal😁. We did however eat there twice and the food was superb, as was the beer. I wish the current owners every success with this lovely pub and would like to thank them for their hospitality.

Wonderful service from Kate and her daughter. I couldn’t fault them. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The desserts were to die for. This is my favourite place to eat in brecon.

Did not stay here,but it would be an ideal base for visiting the Brecon Beacons. Very good pub food,well priced,staff friendly and helpful. GF choices. Parking limited.

We went to stay for the night there was a dreadful smell in the bedroom in which I checked the mattress and it was dreadful. Stains all over it. Dusty. Really was horrible. Wouldn't recommend d this pub at all. Not a nice atmosphere either

Chose the Bull Inn for a randon short break.After a long drive arrived at The Bull Inn , surrounded by beautiful scenery. A warm cosy freindly place .Recived a great welcome and was accommodating to all our needs.Even privide a hot snack outside of usual food service hour.Log fire in the pub ablaze .Lovely room , very comfortable. Very pleasant owners .Great home cooked food available.Perfect place for a short break.We will be back .

We ended up here because floods stopped us from going to our planned lunchtime destination. However this turned out well as the food was well up to scratch, just the right size for a lunchtime meal. Freshly cooked and hot it was delicious. Well worth a return visit.

Good and reasonably priced pub lunch. Everyone enjoyed the food,the homemade steak pie was lovely and included a good portion of steak. The staff were very friendly and polite, they were especially polite even when managing a disproportionate compliant from a very rude couple. The location was great, less than 10 mins from the parking area below Pen y Fan.

We stayed for one night during our vacation in Wales. Upon arrival we were greeted by Charlotte, she showed us to our room. Our room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was very large. We had hiked Pen Y Fan that day and were pretty exhausted and the bed great that night. We had dinner there too and it was very good. My son tried the faggots and loved them. Breakfast in the morning was quite good. Out the front door is a beautiful view of the Brecon Beacons. Overall the place is a bit old but for the money we didn't mind. If you are looking for something to be clean, comfortable and affordable this place would be a good choice.

Heerlijk gegeten. Alleen niet afwijken van de routine. Ei doorbakken gevraagd maar niet gekregen. Twee keer garlic bread als starter gevraagd maar telkens bij hoofdgerecht gekregen. Eten en bediening is verder prima.

Thanks to the Tai’r Bull team for an excellent lunch and hospitality on Saturday afternoon. Managed to put on an excellent menu for our party of 22 and brought the food out in a quick fashion and it was hot and very tasty. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this venue for big or small groups.

Stayed for 1 night on the way further north. What a find! Great people, superb food, lovely bedroom and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be back again.

We had a delicious meal here in the evening after a long walk during the day. We had the special (beef cheeks), which were very good.

Very clean and the landlord very welcoming.Real ale and a good choice on the menu. Excellent faggots and very reasonable prices. Would recommend without any hesitation.
