We visited this charming hotel twice while we were staying nearby, Everything was spot on, From the moment we stepped through door everything was great, A warm friendly greeting , a good choice of refreshments,superb food from a comprehensive menu, We were even able to alter a meal for particular member of our group to meet her dietary needs, The service was very good ,which included a summary of the hotels interesting history, If you are in the area don’t pass this hotel by

Very underrated pub in Aberystwyth. It's always my starting point in every Aber night out. I was a frequent patron during my time in uni and after; from 2018 till 2023. Scholars Bar a fantastic venue to meet up with friends and have drinks with. The tables are ample and spacious, enough to accommodate large social groups. I'm sadden to hear it's temporary closed even under a new management. Hopefully, it gets the love it deserves in the near future if it ever reopens.

Lovely starter Prawns and chili garlic butter, BBQ spicey wings beautiful, not so happy with the mains Aubergine not Apple , Mussels not Prawns easy mistake🙄, not the best steak for £35 to be honest, service though was excellent just let down by the mains.

We love this hotel,from the moment you book in to the moment you leave,such friendly host & staff,the rooms are excellent & the views of the sea front which is opposite is outstanding,breakfast is lovely & filling,we recommend the evening meal option,myself have the Dover sole & my wife just loves the lamb shank,we then have a cheese board,but other puddings are available,we then wash it down with a bottle of 🍷 & a bottle of champagne,you can relax with a drink from a well stocked bar & watch the world go by as the waves wash against the shore

I ordered creamy garlic mushrooms. There was no cream. No taste no flavor. Veg balti had no ingredients of a balti curry. We spoke to the manager his reply was. Oh well other people said it was nice. Extremely disappointed.

We were greeted warmly at the door by some friendly looking staff. Sadly, that was as good as it got. We were there for Christmas lunch, and at £83.50 each we were expecting something nice. However, the food was vary basic and not of good quality. It was vary similar to a normal Sunday carvery which you might pay £10 - £15 for. It was not worth the money at all. The service was terrible. They forgot to bring us 2 of the starters which we had to ask for. They also forgot to bring 2 of the main courses which we again had to ask for. They got the drinks order wrong several times and had no idea how to tend the bar. The bar staff asked us if we wanted our whiskey neat or on the rocks????? We asked for a high chair for a child, which they arranged ok. However, there was no tray on the high chair to put a plate and no setting at the table to seat him at. Where was he supposed to put his plate?? They charged us £10 for the child's EMPTY plate (we were going to give him food from our plates, because he's only 2 years old and eats almost nothing). The whole experience ruined our Christmas day and we would not recommend the place to anyone.

Overall very disappointing, starter was ok, main meal was overcooked and cold, dessert was ok. Will not rush back to try again !

Shockingly poor in every way. 1.They had no record of our Mother’s Day booking, made a month ago. 2. Waiting staff scruffy, inattentive and badly trained 3. Food took forever to come and was barely warm 4. We had to ask for the vegetables and gravy that should have been served with the main meal 5. Vegetables were uncooked and cold 6. We had to ask for serving spoons to serve ourselves the veg 7. We had to hunt for a member of staff to take our desert order which took 25 minutes to come 8. There were 2 orders for ice cream - it was served in one bowl and had to be taken away to be split into 2 bowls 9. There were 4 crumbles - all were cold and inedible - we sent them back We have eaten here many times before and loved it, but today it was truly appalling- has it changed hands ? The only saving grace was that when we spoke to management the bill was reduced with no fuss - suggesting they know they’re really struggling. It’s very sad to see how poor this place has become.

Not as good as it was. Like lots of places they seem to be cutting down on quality rather than put prices up. Beef dinner is really poor there. Other items on Menu are not too bad. Try it and see for yourself.
