I ordered creamy garlic mushrooms. There was no cream. No taste no flavor. Veg balti had no ingredients of a balti curry. We spoke to the manager his reply was. Oh well other people said it was nice. Extremely disappointed.

Booked for a night with my son so we could walk in the lovely surrounding countryside and visit Waterfall Country. Campsite pretty basic (although toilets located in a shipping container were nicely decorated) but site is very convenient for the 4 Waterfalls Walk and reasonably priced. Site is opposite the pub which is also very convenient. After a fantastic walk up the drovers track next to the pub then along Sarn Helen and then Afon Nedd we had a pint of Grey Trees Ale in the pub garden. We booked for dinner (recommended as pub is small and quite busy with walkers). Although menu is limited in choices the friendly waitress recommended the pie saying she wouldn’t ever order another pie from anywhere else. I duly followed her recommendation and ordered the Beef pie and my son ordered the beef burger. The is no hyperbole sufficient to describe the pie, It was magnificent. A pillow of puff pastry covered the large chunks of aged beef in tasty gravy. Like the waitress I am pretty convinced that no other pie would ever match up to this. I am told the burger was equally magnificent. Desert was lemon tart - again lovely. The food tasted great, the portions were very generous, and the staff very friendly, helpful and attentive. Prices were very reasonable. I would recommend the camping for its location and definitely recommend eating at the pub. Booking is advised, I would imagine this place is frequented all year round by walkers

Firstly and most importantly I would like to Thank all of the wonderful staff at this beautiful traditional pub. We were camping in the adjacent field and called in for a drink after a long walk with our very nervous collie, we were made to feel so welcome and they were absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough to help our little dog feel safe. We returned the next evening for an early supper and were welcomed like old friends which was just lovely. We had the super scrummy burger which was the perfect size and so tasty. Service was excellent with super happy staff, would we return …..absolutely Yes without a doubt, hopefully very soon. Also if you like a cider you should definitely try the local cider it’s delicious.

We came here for lunch having looked at all the amazing reviews and we were really looking forward to it. The pub itself is lovely and the staff are friendly and welcoming. This is a very dog friendly place which is important to us. The menu is limited especially for lunch- no sandwiches or suchlike but we ordered a scampi and chips for husband and the chicken with tahini glaze, leeks and nori for me as it was a GF option. I asked for the side of roast veg. Honestly when it came out I was a bit stunned- the roast veg was bits of diced sweet potato and cauliflower and the chicken breast was dried out , couldn’t see any glaze . I was a bit embarrassed so just ate it. At least there was a pot of sauce to help it down.Considering all the previous reviews I have just put it down to an off moment and would give them the benefit of the doubt. It wasn’t a busy day- it was a Thursday lunchtime. I wish I had said something at the time….. never mind. Would we try there again? Given all the fab reviews-yes-if we visit the area.

Sunday lunch carvery here was amazing. The beef especially was so tender and lean and everything tasted home cooked. The staff could not do enough for us. One young lady in particular who was looking after us even sat with our two dogs, Abe and Frank while we went to the carvery. And they were treated to a bowl full of beef and turkey bits. We felt so welcome with the dogs which is quite rare even in places that describe themselves as dog friendly. The atmosphere was friendly, cozy and welcoming. This pub maybe does look a bit plain from the outside but really don’t let that put you off. It doesn’t try to be anything but what it is. A friendly local serving good local food. Really worth a visit, whether you’re out there hiking or just taking a scenic ride around.

My partner and I visited The New Inn on Thursday evening for a meal out whilst we were staying in the area. The staff were super friendly and lovely! The service was top quality and the chef even came and spoke with us about the menu and different food options. We had the halloumi for starters and the ‘Boozy Beef’ burger for main. These were both amazing and the chips were so good. We had a lovely meal and the food was delicious. Overall, our visit was really good. The staff made us feel so welcome. They were so kind and spoke to us about the local beauty spots and gave us advice about our trip the following day to the waterfall trail. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area! :)

We have passed this pub so many times on our bike rides but never had the opportunity of going in. We can’t believe what a treasure of a place this is. We had originally booked a table outside as we had bikes. The owner let us put the bikes out on the terrace and gave us a table by the log fire. This was our first time visiting but it definitely won’t be our last. The welcome we received was amazing and the food was excellent. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Second visit in 5 years to this little gem of a pub. This time round I had the boozy cow pie and I was not disappointed. I love a good steak and ale pie and hands down this was the best I have ever tasted. Kids (age 5 and 8) had scampi and chips which was a perfect size for them. Partner had scampi too and was very happy but unfortunately for me, they all kept trying to get at my boozy cow pie! Staff were very friendly and efficient, great vibes, will be back again as soon as I can. Thank you

Popped in for lunch and what a great welcome when Chris opened the door a little early as it was cold outside. Nine of us ordered from a great Christmas menu and the real hits were the Christmas Pie and the Cheese Tart, delicious. Deserts were great too, particularly the waffles and jaffa orange toppings. Chris was attentive, super friendly and we enjoyed some good banter. Will be back, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for warm and welcoming local pub serving fantastic food. Thank you Chris.

This little pub is an absolute gem. My daughters and their friends had use of The Den for a recent birthday. The Den was cosy and warm and beautifully decorated, with games, music, karaoke and so much more. They opted for the loaded fries - all the home cooked toppings were beautiful, especially the boozy beef. Chris and Abi have very high standards that have been instilled into every member of staff, ensuring excellent customer service whoever you deal with. Thank you so much!

Visited here for Sunday lunch. Rang on the morning and was lucky to get a table at the time we wanted. Not our first visit, but our first Sunday lunch. We were greeted by friendly staff and didn’t wait long to be served for a drink or for our choices to be taken. We opted for the carvery but unfortunately service was extremely long! There was approximately 8 people in front of us who were sat close by. It was probably the best part of 45 minutes before we were able to get our food from the serving area. The serving area is very small & hardly any room to move, especially if there’s more than two of you getting food. The food was lovely and tasty delicious. The pub itself is warm and welcoming but could do with a lick of paint and some TLC,

What a little gold mine! I came here with my dog to do 2 specific hikes. I was booked for another camp site but on arrival i wasn't happy and this place came up! It is a pub in a small village but it has a small campsite across the road that you pay the pub £7 to stay in. I loved relaxing in this place. The staff were above and beyond friendly to me and my dog also. I'm deaf and i am always worried about fitting in or not being sure of things but the staff made me feel very welcome and like i was part of the furniture. The couple who own it are very friendly and asked how my day had been and gave my dog a lovely bout of attention too. It's serves food and the bar is open but only until 10pm. It's very close to the four falls trail and only 30 minutes to pen-y-fan. I would highly recommend staying here to camp and come in after a hard day to relax with a few beers or a meal if you wish. The garden is super cute too. 5 stars from me! It isn't the Ritz but i didn't want that anyway... I wanted somewhere to stay and somewhere for a beer after and i even had the privilege of chatting with some of the locals who were also friendly to me. Maybe one day I will come back to attempt another hike ... If i do ... It'll be here! No doubt ☺️

I visited this pub on a trip around Waterfall Country, I had a lovely pint of Cider and a small Ploughman's Lunch. The ploughman's read really well on the menu but disappointedly on the plate it celebrated a Local Cheese which was a quarter wedge of a very small round of cheese, handful of leaves 3 halves of cherry tomatoes, a small spoon of relish and a large spoon of Coleslaw, the bread was nice but I do not think it was made on the premises only warmed up. Not my ideal Ploughman's Lunch, If I was a hungry farmer coming in for lunch I would have went back to work as hungry as I walked in. The prices reflect the tourist area they are in.

We ordered drinks and snacks to keep us going and enjoyed being together as a family, hoping to visit the waterfalls after our food. The party guests were arriving and i overheard that it was an afternoon tea. At around 3.40pm, we attempted to order food but was told that they still couldn't serve us , then the chef, interupted and said 'we have a party booked and we can't tell you when we will be able to serve you'. If they had told us that in the 1st place we would have gone elsewhere to find food. I suggest if they are going to book a party at 2.30pm on a saturday, they should be clear as to how long a party deems the kitchen out of use to the public. Eg; it would have been acceptable for them to mark the kitchen out of use to cutomers until at least 5.30pm. Seems very unlrofessional that they smeemed so sure that while the party guests were arriving up until 3pm for 'aftrnoon tea' that they could serve again at 3.30pm and then make it look like WE were being unreasonable to expect to order food after the time given when THEY should know more about how their business works and spimply be clear from the beginning. Mark your kitchen as out of use while a party goes on for at least 2 hrs and have a clear plan for your staff to say to customers. Utter foolishness!

If your looking for a place to eat look no further. The Sunday carvery was delicious with plenty of choice of vegetables, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would advise booking your table as the dining area was small but this gave the experience a more intimate feeling like eating in a friends home. We will certainly back

We found this place online, as there were 15 of us we pre ordered. Only to be told on the day they had ran out of some of our mains. Sad times

Lovely cozy pub with great cook ups and good drinks selection. Owners very accommodating and squeezed us in for a meal after a day out in the pouring rain.

£5 per person. Lovely field right next to the pub, with tons of room, open fires allowed and the pub was super friendly with top meat pasties and pies. Loved it. Excellent base for the beautiful waterfall walks. Hook up on request, otherwise you're fine to just rock up. Thanks for having us Chris, perhaps we'll make the walk next time and not just sit watching rugby all day in your pub!

Visited here lunchtime today whilst driving around the nearby waterfalls. Wanted a light bite but was disappointed when they didn't have any sandwiches/paninis on their menu. Only thing they could offer in stead, was a ploughman's lunch. We did order something off the menu as we were slightly hungry, but the fries and the sweet potato fries were the skinny frozen type and not great value for the money. During the hour or so we were in the pub, 3 other groups of visitors asked the same question that we had 'Do you serve sandwiches', so its obvious there is a market for them. Very disappointed and would probably suggest, that if you don't want to eat a cooked meal on your visit to the area, then pack your own sandwiches.

Camped on their little field for 2 nights, which was great. Open fire’s allowed in designated fire pits. Pub is small, so need to book if planning an evening meal. Staff are very friendly. Food is good and clearly cooked from fresh, as a little slow, but well worth waiting for. Has a lovely little outdoor seating area.

We dropped in without booking hoping to get lunch. I was with my friend and her disabled dad. They were able to offer us a table and from the start the experience was excellent. The staff member ( I think it was the Manager) came out to the car park to see if we needed any help with the wheelchair. We were promptly seated and drinks and food order taken quickly. All members of staff were polite and friendly. The food came in a good waiting time and we were all really pleased with the food. I had an ultimate burger, my friend a Thai beef dish and her dad an all day breakfast. Great portion sizes, hot and all tasty. Really reasonably priced as well ! Thankyou for such a great experience

Friendly staff, hearty, simple menu, great coffee. We stopped here after walking Crickhowell to Brecon via the Black Mountains. They weren’t bothered about muddy boots but we took off at door anyway. Toilets immaculate. Chef’s playlist that could be heard in the dining area - not a bad song on it for about an hour. Good on him!!

We stopped here to break up a long journey. Straight away it seemed very unwelcoming. My son is autistic, and because he seemed more comfortable in the corner section we asked to move tables. We were advised that was the dog friendly section, and obviously we would move if needed, it was quiet at the time, but this seem like an inconvenience to move tables. Then when my son was wandering in the pub, this seemed to annoy a couple of guests, and I know he seemed hyperactive but these are some of his autistic traits, this seemed to annoy one couple in particular, where the man was making very rude comments ( I know you have no control over who comes into your pub) but overall it just felt very unwelcoming in there. Are kids not allowed in here? It didn't seem like it. We come past this pub often, so we will not be stopping here again.

My wife and I were staying in a B&B in Berriew which didn’t cook evening meals on a Sunday, so we decided to try this inn for our dinner. We arrived without reservations, but were quickly shown to a table by a very pleasant member of staff who immediately took our drinks order. The drinks arrived and we ordered our food soon after. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, and it looked very well presented. My wife had lasagne, which she told me was hot and tasty, however my steak and ale pie with chips was not quite so. Again, my meal was hot, but the meat in the pie was very grisly, which was a shame as the pastry was excellent. The chips and beans with my meal were first class, so absolutely no problems with them. As we ate our meal the chef came out and asked if everything was okay with the food. I told him about the meat in the pie, to which he laughed and then walked away. Now, what’s the point in asking me about my meal if you are not going to take action when you receive such a comment? Anyway, we finished the meal and went up to the bar to pay, at which time we were asked again if all was okay. I told the member of staff at the bar about the meat and this time it had a totally different outcome, in that someone, whom I took to be the manager, became involved, and she showed concern about the fact that my meal had not been perfect. She also told me that she would be having words with the supplier about said pie. We ended the conversation coming to an amicable agreement of a goodwill gesture, so I’m more than happy with the outcome. If it had not have been for the issue with the pie then this meal would have been almost perfect, in that the staff were lovely, the restaurant was clean and in a good state of decoration, and the service was first rate. My only other comment would be that the prices were a tad dearer than around my home city of Leicester, but not unusual for a country inn.
