We had just spent 3 hours in the rain with our motorcycles. When our hosts saw us, they offered to dry our clothes and a drink. Hot. Smile all the time. Take care of us. To do and redo.

Some pub/restaurants just feel cosy and welcoming and this is just that! Friendly and efficient staff and excellent food! Highly recommended

Husband and I went out to lunch, my veg lasagne was lovely . However, my husband had the corned beef pie which he said was bland and the base was hard .

Really welcoming landlady and team. Came here with our 3 young kids and dog. We've eaten both lunch and dinner here. We've kept coming back because of how welcoming they are. They serve great homecooked pub food. Dog friendly and they serve food all day.

I stopped here for the Sunday roast. The service was very nice and the prices extremely affordable. Food portions were good too. However, I was not completely happy with the Sunday roast. The mash was a bit lumpy. The flavours could have been better. Nevertheless, what was really good about this place was that they had a vegan option. They had a nut roast which my boyfriend ordered. He was quite happy with it. It's nice to see a vegan option on the menu.

We came here Sunday just gone for a spur of the moment dinner and we were not disappointed! Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, the gravy was amazing and even better was the fact that each person got their own gravy boat! Like WHAT! no more fighting over the gravy haha! Will definitely return here again and again! I also opted for the lemon meringue and that was beautiful too!

Lovely food , however we had panniers for tea and they could have been warmed or toasted be for service.

We popped in for an impromptu late lunch and couldn't have felt more welcomed by the owner and his staff, and the locals were also extremely welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, they brought water for our dogs, the food was delicious and brilliant value. The setting by the river was beautiful. All round recommended and we'll be making a special trip to go back again soon. It really was THAT good!!

We go to this Pub / restaurant quite often . We love the cosy homely feel there. It has been refurbished into an attractive eatery. I also like to support the Family run business.Yesterday we had the carvery Sunday lunch . It was full of flavour, perfectly cooked and hot . Well worth the cost . The dessert choice is also excellent .All the waitresses very professional.

I Was tired, cold and wet. I needed a good beer and some good quality easy food. Both boxes were tipped really well. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt restored and revived afterwards.

We phoned the New Tredegar Arms this afternoon to ask if they did an evening carvery on a Saturday night and to book a table. “Oh yeah there is!” was the response we got. Brilliant! We travelled to the pub only to discover there is no carvery on a Saturday. The barmaid was very rude and defensive: “you’re not in the right place, nobody here would tell you we had a carvery on on a Saturday night”. The young man behind the bar admitted he took the call but barmaid continued to be rude. Waste of petrol and a Saturday night! Will avoid in future due to staff.

Absolutely love this place! No matter when we visit the food is brilliant!! The refurb is lovely and the people working here are fantastic 10/10

Four of us Popped in to watch the rugby and have a meal.all various meals very nice and the staff were excellent.this is a lovely run place and well worth a visit.

I stayed here for 2 nights and was made very welcome by the landlady, staff and locals. The room was very comfortable and clean, and the food excellent. Unfortunately I was unwell during my stay and I was treated like one of the family. I really appreciated the support. Highly recommended. Thankyou.

I had two meals here during my 3 night stay up the road. The menu choice is excellent, as is the quality of the food? The portions are pretty large too - you won’t leave hungry! Found the staff very friendly and helpful.

My family and I visit this establishment regularly, it's one of my favourites. We have always been accommodated and made to feel welcome. Nothing is to much trouble. Great variety of food, always lovely. Never had a bad meal. Potion size is great, my husband has a large appetite and he's always satisfied when we go there. Price of food is reasonable. Location of pub is ideal, on a nice day you can sit outback by the river.

Having not long moved into the local are we wanted to find a pub which we could go to regularly for food & drink.

My friends and I visited this venue on Saturday 18th May 2019. The staff were very welcoming to us being a group of 10 loud ladies on a weekend away. Nicely furnished pub. Got talking with some of the locals from the village who were very helpful too.

Myself and my husband came here for a little time to ourselves while the kids stayed with their grandmother. The service was friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely meal, home made and very tasty, followed by a gigantic slice of yummy cheesecake each! Will definitely visit again.

This pub is situated along the roadside with the river running behind it. Nicely furnished pub with lots of atmosphere. Staff attentive and meals decently priced. Although our meals rather salty.

Visited for a Sunday roast, and as a vegan I was completely catered for. We were greeted by extremely warm, friendly and welcoming staff. Even had the option to sit by the fire which was lovely. Would definitely visit again if we were to pass through the village again!

A lovely, cosy and inviting pub with extensive menu choices and helpful staff. The food is really well cooked, delicious and served piping hot which is important I always think. For such well cooked food we had hardly any wait, the staff were helpful and prompt and, all in all, I can thoroughly recommend a visit here. I will most certainly go back as soon as possible.

always fabulas food. owners are more than helpful. lovely smart pub inside. beer good too. on holiday near by last week visited twice each time food and service was great. have been a few times before when visiting area. my son and family have had sunday lunch here said how good it was they live in Aberdare. say no more. highly recommend

Excellent carvery main course, but the icing on the cake was the extra jug of custard that came with the blackberry and apple crumble .

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here and the food was well cooked and tasty. We had a carvery for£10 which was good value for money. Would certainly recommend this place.

My sister and brother in law live near and was recommend. Really smart pub inside but was impressed with the outside terrace, which is near a small river, really peaceful. We all ordered different meals and we all agreed that they were presented and tasted great. The staff were polite and courteous. Would definately recommend a visit if in the area. We will be back.

Our first visit here and probably not our last.

We called in for a late Saturday lunch after a very chaotic, snowy few days in our area. Many pubs and restaurants were shut, but I had seen the New Tredegar Arms on Facebook telling everyone that they were open and the fire was lit. Well - the welcome was just as warm. We walked up to the bar, the young lady was serving some food but acknowledged us immediately. She offered us a table and took our drink order at the bar, very chatty and friendly. The service was first class, the food was very enjoyable and we shall certainly return. We don't know the young lady's name but she was SO busy, but kept everything well under control and was very attentive. On leaving, another lady behind the bar (I believe the landlady) smiled and called "Diolch, thank you". Such a pleasant lunch hour, highly recommended.

Lovely home cooked food, great value, great taste, large portions and friendly service what more could you ask for.

Big choice menu well presented meals excellent service and very friendly staff what more could you want good for families, friends and couples.

First impression on entering was very pleasant. The landlady very jolly and chatty. However, on being presented with the menu we were told there was a carvery which we all decided on. How I wish we had not. I did not see a carvery, no meat being carved only some pieces in a dish in what looked like water. We could not help ourselves to the vegetables they were spooned onto our plates, very unusual. Not what I would call a nice meal. Then for the desert, I chose a fruit crumble it was dreadful, very little fruit and a large mound of inedible of what I assumed was the crumble which was rock hard I found it difficult to put my spoon in it.

Me and my friends made this pub the place we meet annually for a catchup, the staff are always lovely and accommodating (ac yn siarad Cymraeg!). The food is good old fashioned home cooking, but always to a great standard. Their deserts change often but are always delicious (I recommend the cheesecake!). The price of the food is very reasonable, and the homely feel of the pub is lovely. Will definitely be going back, and would recommend this place!

I bought a house in the area 3 years ago so have driven by this place countless times. I've always admired the lovely flowers outside and noticed it seems busy outside at weekends. This evening my friend from out of the area wanted to take me to a local pub. Having checked the websites of the two local places (which I might normally brave) to find them closed, I tried this one and bravo, it was open. We found it easy to park in the large car park opposite. Inside it was clean and with a nice feel. Being Monday it wasn't busy but there were some people eating what looked delicious food. We were only there for drinks but food looked plentiful and reasonably priced. Having now read others' reviews I will definitely return for food. No idea why it's taken me so long to finally visit this place.

Visited last night, really warm welcome from staff. Quite a varied menu.I had lasagna and my husband surf & turf. Both meals arrived in no time and were good size portions, I ordered chips with my meal, but i really didn't need too. Really tasty food. Will definitely going again.

Hemos comido aquí muchas veces y nunca me ha decepcionado. Sirven la comida de un domingo por la tarde, que es una ventaja ya que en muchos lugares no es.

La comida es casera y tuvimos algunas nuevas opciones para el almuerzo. mi cliente tenía el asado de almuerzo mientras tanto teníamos un estilo chino pollo salteado fry. Los tres eran excelentes y el cliente (que pagamos) no podía creer la calidad de esa comida de costo relativamente bajo. Nos volvimos a usar este lugar después de un par de meses de ausencia y volveremos en nuestra lista semanal de nuevo.

Almorcé con otros cuatro miembros de mi familia en mayo, personal encantador, amable, asados era impresionante juego justo, podía haber tenido placas ligeramente más grandes, como parecía parece diminuto. Pero diffinately volvería.

Having been here before for my dad's birthday we thought we'd pop in for some dinner, didn't book but luckily enough they managed to fit us in which was no issue for them which is great as some pubs can be funny about it. Both me and my partner had the Sunday carvery, however it could of been better the gravy looked like chicken soup I understand that they use the meat juices but put at least a bit of gravy browning to give it the gravy look. The meat was cooked to perfection literally melted in your mouth. The bar staff and waitresses were really friendly and accomadating. All in all was nice wouldn't pick it as my 1st choice again especially the gravy.

My Dad and I have been here for a couple of lovely evening meals, with good quality food from the menu, the specials board, and the desserts. Beer is good quality and value too. Pity about getting rid of the wifi though.

Went to Tredegar Arms with my family of ten to celebrate my daughters birthday. There was a warm welcome as soon as you entered and the staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble. The food we had from the adults to children was beautifully cooked and tasty, if your hungry the portions are great in fact the Tredegar Arms spoilt us so much so that every other restaurant we went into that weekend failed to match the Tredegar Arms.

We visited this pub on two occasions during our stay at Heronstone lodges in Ystradgynlais. First was a Saturday night and the second was a Sunday afternoon. The staff here are very welcoming. The service is great and the food is very nice also. The atmosphere here is very warm and inviting. Good variety of food on the menu with decent prices. May be best if you're thinking of visiting to ring and reserve a table cos it isn't the biggest of pubs and does get quite busy from what we saw. We will definitely be returning here.

Called in on the off chance that my husband and I might be able to get a table for a meal at 5 o`clock on New Years Eve, and Delyth (the owner ) kindly fitted us in even though they were very busy. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty, had a three course meal which we thoroughly enjoyed from the varied menu and staff were really courteous and helpful.

We booked a few tables weeks in advance for the Sunday carvery and experienced a negative attitude on the phone from the manager who clearly didn't want us hanging around before or after our meal.On the day we arrived to an unfriendly welcome and really felt like we were putting them out. The usually-friendly manager barely even acknowledged us. Although we had to wait a while to be allowed up to the carvery, the food was very nice, hot and plentiful. The waiting staff were all very pleasant but the manager remained aloof and didn't bother thanking us for bringing a large group to her pub for food.I was in two minds about writing this review, but several family members and friends have approached me since our meal and have expressed how nice the food was but how unwelcome they were made to feel. Our group occupied around half of the number of seats they offer; if they were unable to cater for such a group they should either reduce the number of seats in the restaurant or shouldn't have agreed to accommodate us in the first place. With plenty of local competition offering Sunday carvery we thought The Hotel would welcome a guaranteed number of guests. Instead we were treated as an inconvenience and will not be returning any time soon, nor will a number of our guests who suffered the same experience that day.

Have eaten here before and it was wonderful, I'm not sure when things changed and got so bad, I had Venison Steak from the specials menu, the Venison was over cooked, very dry, bland almost tasteless, no seasoning, no accompanying salad, considering I ordered it with chips, I didn't expect Roast Venison Dinner with a very tiny portion of veg, a tiny portion of peas, mashed suede, 2 carrot slices, and 3 brussels sprouts, and a side dish of chips, at £10.95 it was expensive for what was on the plate, the chips were frozen & greasy. My dad had a Lasagne, no pasta to be found, just minced beef with a heavy cheese topping, very greasy, best part of the meal was the the 2 slices of toasted/burnt french bread, only person who had a decent meal was my mum, who had the Cod and Chips, who admittedly enjoyed despite the chips being the same greasy frozen chips, very disappointed and over priced for the quality and standard of food over all.

Just had Sunday lunch. It was excellent. Good choice of vegetables and the food was hot. If you want Sunday lunch just like at home then go to the new tredegar arms. The staff are very friendly and attentive.

Booked up in advance and was not disappointed what a find such friendly staff and lovely cosy atmosphere.There was a specials board a menu and a carvery all on offer and a lovely selection we all chose the carvery which was delicious and plentiful can't wait to return
