Lovely location with ample parking on site. The room was OK, warm and welcoming, but the mold in the bathroom really needs addressing. Breakfast was great and they cater for gluten free which is always a huge plus for me. Great for a quick stop over for work.

I have never experienced such rude staff in hospitality. Obviously can’t cope with more than ten people in the pub. Asked at 7.15 if still serving food response was “no” - no apologies or we are fully booked. Decided to stay for a drink and then told we couldn’t sit where we were and had to move. Then 5 minutes later a menu appeared asking if we wanted food? Apparently it had calmed down to 8 people in the bar so they could cope. Food was basic and over priced along with the beer. Would I come back? Absolutely not with these current owners, unless they suddenly learn how to cook, how to serve, how to price correctly in line with a small town that is no where near London and learn some manners.

Called in after a walk to the reservoir. Wasn't sure what to expect but we were limited as we had the dog with us. Was very pleased with our experience and will definitely go again. The staff were very welcoming and the pub was warm and cosy. Although a little tired, it was clean and very atmospheric. The food was reasonably priced, good selection of pub food. I had the spicy chicken curry which had a good kick to it and was most enjoyable, my husband had the liver which was cooked with a rich gravy and served with a good helping of mash. There were 3 draft ales, we had all 3 between 4 of us and there were no complaints. Service was excellent. I think this Inn deserves to be higher than 12th, did eat in 2 other pubs/takeaways in the town and the Mount was by far my favourite!

Basic pub food, none of which was fresh. Menu consisted of burger/steak/sausage etc all with chips. I had veggie burger and chips, my Dad had fishcakes and chips. arrived for a 3 night stay on Monday 9th August. Already knew we couldn't book in until 5.30 due to "extra covid cleaning" but did not realise the pub doesn't open until 5pm on a monday so as it was raining we sat in the car in the pub car park until the owners arrived. When they did we were promptly asked to move our car as it was in a nearby neighbours parking spot, in a pub car park clearly sign posted "for customer use only". we were however given our keys to our room early and grabbed our bags and entered through the door at the back of the pub to be greeted with the smell of damp, some 1970s lino and curtains hanging off the rail. we went upstairs to our room and just stood and looked around in dismay. it was awful. you expect old as in sloping floors ect in such an historic building but it was just awful. not enough room to swing a cat. one of the two wall lights hanging off. the smallest en-suite i have ever seen but to be honest we would have coped with that but it was the filth everywhere . dirt and dust thick on everything. light fittings, tv, windowsill, even the kettle. there was scum around the bathroom taps, the shower seal was black and the wallpaper was peeling off. considering the place was having extra covid cleaning i was stunned. £75 a night for that. We took a walk down the high street and managed to get rooms elsewhere and returned to collect our things and gave the keys back, happy for them to keep the deposit as in the small print for cancellation but it has been paid back to me.

Rang ahead to make sure we had a table. Beautiful old pub which is close to my heart. Really enjoyed our meals; sirloin, gammon & Glamorgan sausages- all cooked to perfection. I probably should’ve asked if steak sauces available, that was my fault. Great outside seating area at the side and front - always a sun trap in the summer, have spent many an hour out there. The landlord & staff were super friendly. But… could smell strong cigarette smoke where we were eating as side doors open which is probably my only gripe. The old dining room now has a pool table filling it, which wasn’t there in my days of working there and if it was my place I’d make it a nice family friendly dining room again (just my opinion)!

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Due to a change in weather, we made a last minute booking. They had space for us no problem. We then turned up three hours early (cycle tour) and they rushed to make our room ready for us. We then needed another favour as I had washed my clothes and needed somewhere to dry them. As is the theme of this review, no problem again. Great service, great place and great hospitality. Thank you for making what could have been a rubbish day, a relaxing one.

"owner" came out and said he couldn't accommodate us and said "some families have the decency to ring before hand". There were multiple tables for us to safely distance, and also a table of approx 20 who were congregated and swigging beers. When asked the "owner" hung up and said he "didn't have time". Looked a nice place, shocking customer service, shocking reaction from manager, we were suitably accommodated around the corner at the whistling badger. Shame really!!

The Mount Inn is a quaint and pretty ancient pub at the south end of the town, and we tried it one night for our evening meal while we were staying in Llanidloes on holiday. Really attractive old building, a friendly welcome from behind the bar when we went in and a bunch of cheerful regulars in for their evening pint. A board announced that they offered two meals for £12:00 between 6:00 and 8:30 pm and we went for those. I had belly pork with mustard mash and vegetables and my other half opted for the vegetarian curry. Both were served up pretty quickly and both of us really enjoyed our meals. I've always either grilled or oven-baked belly pork, but the pork in the Mount appeared to have been gently fried, and was so tender and tasty that I'll try doing it the same way next time. My other half thought that the vegetarian curry was a pretty basic one - no exotic additions! - but was no less acceptable and enjoyable for that. We didn't have starters or sweets, but both of us had a drink with our meals and at the end the bill was a mere £16:55. I can't remember the last time a meal out for two cost us as little as that! I'd thoroughly recommend dining at the Mount even if you aren't holidaying on a budget, but all the more so if you are: tasty food, nice atmosphere, and absolutely guaranteed to be easy on the bank account.

So today I went to meet friends with children at the pub, whilst I was ordering food and drinks my husband came from outside with my 9 month old baby who was really upset as another child had bitten his finger quite badly. I was cuddling him and about to take him outside to get fresh air when the male owner asked me to take him outside as they didn't like screaming babies at the bar. I couldn't believe it! He didn't ask if my son was ok even though he was clearly distressed or ask politely, he was just rude. My baby had only just come to the bar area and wasn't running around being naughty or misbehaving, he can't even walk, he's a small baby. If the owners don't want crying babies there, they should make it an adults pub only. I then went up to the owner to tell him I'd be writing this review and he then asked me to leave in that case. My friend who also have children but are from Tenerife couldn't believe his reaction. I guess in Spain and many European countries, children are welcomed and that's why they are probably on the whole a lot happier than British kids. It's a shame the owner had to be so rude, he lost 10 people's custom as a result. The lady who also runs the pub was very pleasant as she came to talk to us after we left but said that they had to respond to a couple of diners complaints however, this didn't really make sense as the crying had only been going on for 30 seconds if that and my husband had only just bought him in from outside. the pubs ethos should be welcoming to all and appease the other customers through other means, not been unwelcoming to a mother and a baby. Not impressed and definitely never going back. Glad there's an abundance of other pubs to visit in the town. Ps I've never been asked to leave a venue before.

Lovely old pub with stone floors and we went because it was dog friendly. Locals were extremely friendly and the barman made an effort bless him. Food was over priced and quality poor. My baked salmon was raw inside. The dog did guzzle down however. Steak was burnt on one side and very thin, definitely over priced also. Would return to the lovely, friendly town of Llanidloes but will avoid the Mount Inn. Nearly left initially because there was a overwhelming smell of the toilets throughout the pub.

We, four adults + grandson in a push-chair, visited here as a second choice! First choice was too cramped to get the push-chair in.We were dubious about Mount Inn as the hygiene rating rating was 3 star. With my 7 month old grandson to consider we decided to give it a go anyway. The pub is old and quaint with small doorways and a rustic interior and a very shiny floor. We sat in the fireplace inglenook which had room for six adults so suited us nicely with the push-chair tucked in at the end of the table. We asked for a menu to be told there wasn't one as it was Sunday and Sunday Roast was the only option. However, they offered beef, chicken or lamb. We ordered two lamb and two chicken but were advised we'd have a half hour or so wait as they were quite busy.We ordered drinks (a good selection of beers, ciders and wines on offer as well as hot beverages) and the prices were very reasonable.Behind the bar was one young lady serving two bars, she was in demand but remained polite and reasonably in control despite being bombarded by questions and orders, and having to send someone from the kitchen out to get more coffee for the coffee machine. The locals, and there were a good few of them, were friendly and welcoming. After half an hour of waiting we eagerly awaited our food having seen other patrons receive their generous platefuls. After another fifteen minutes of waiting our hopes were waning but we had already paid so put it down to it being busy. Ten minutes later our cutlery was brought to us with a polite apologies for the wait.Shortly after came the food.It was delicious and plenty of it and proper gravy too plus mint sauce. Nobody left a scrap apart from the bones. Despite the wait and the hygiene rating we would all happily eat here again because the food was exceptionally good value for the money and the staff were lovely, even the chef who came out to help clear our table and say sorry for the wait and take time for some conversation before we left.

The menu was very boring, nothing really attracted your attention. Really struggled to find anything on the menu, so i gave in to the one Fish option. My friend also choosing the pie. The pie was amazing, home made pastry, thick chips and it was huge. My fish wasn't very hot, and was very bland, it didn't really taste of anything, considering the high pricing on the menu i expected a decent quality.. It was quite cold in the pub and also the toilets were not very clean. Its a nice enough put to go in for a drink but until they either change chef or menu i don't think i will be returning.

The good:The main courses were ok.The not so good:The service was simply terrible. From the get go we were made to feel unwelcome it was as if the pub were doing us a favour in allowing us to eat at their establishment. Firstly I was questioned as to whether I would manage the drink I had ordered as it maybe a little too strong for me! I was made to feel so uncomfortable that I then ordered something else. This was not a good start. When we went to our reserved table we found it was a little on the wobbly side so swapped to a different table. This was met with huffs and puffs from the bar staff. Next came our food. We had starters which were very average. Most of us ordered warm goats cheese salad which was literally a lump of cold goats cheese and some lettuce. No chutney or jam with it. It was poor. We then went to the bar and ordered some drinks. Firstly we were ignored by the bar staff who wouldn't even look at us when we ordered. Everything was a hassle. We were made to feel as if we shouldn't have been there. The mains however were better my burger in particular was lovely. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy the main dishes. There were however problems. When we asked for red sauce we were given a bottle with enough left in the bottle for a tiny bit each. Due to the lack of service we felt we couldn't ask for more sauce. Not once did anybody come and ask was our meal ok. When we went to pay the bill the bar staff again ignored us and decided to serve the 3 or 4 people who were behind us first. It was busy but not massively so. I have not been so disappointed in the service of a place in a long time. I will not go there again.

As visitors to the area and The Mount was recommend to us, we went for dinner. The place was relatively busy (but not overly busy). Everything was wrong with this place. No engagement or welcoming behaviours from the lady behind the bar (looked fed up all night). The food took 50 minutes from being ordered (ordered fish, chips & mushy peas and pie, chips and salad). When it was served both meals had garden peas (no salad and no mushy peas). When I mentioned that we would like mushy peas the response we got was 'i'll get the chef to mash up the garden peas'. When I then asked do they have any mushy peas was told they don't do mushy peas (so why advertise them on the menu?). I also mentioned that the Pie and Chips should have salad (as ordered), not garden peas. I think I got a shoulder shrug. When one of the bar staff came over to ask if everything was ok and I mentioned the peas situation I was then informed that the Pie and chips should have come with a jug of gravy... so a mix up all round! When I went for another drink at the bar, the lady behind the bar wasn't serving and stood 2 feet in front of me chatting to one of the locals. It was clear to me that she knew I was there but obviously the chat with the local was more important and I was left standing for a minute or two, while she finished her conversation. As a summary:Service - very poor, Food - quality - ok, wrong meals served, Atmosphere - poor...and as someone who works in the field of motivation, engagement and behaviours can I politely suggest that the owners and staff think carefully and work more on engagement with their customers and at least making them feel welcome. If something is queried, at least talk with the customers and provide either polite answers and some re-assurance that it will be addressed. And consider that they take away an impression that is difficult to change afterwards...

Under new management and we have high hopes for this becoming our regular Llani pub for quality food, good drinks and relaxing atmosphere. This evening I had the best beef burger I've had for many years! Good quality meat, cooked to tender succulent perfection, in a brioche bun with pancetta and cheeses, served with proper chips and real coleslaw, all homemade. Our son had ham, egg and chips - again real thick-cut ham, perfectly cooked egg (soft yoke, but no wobbly whites). The décor hasn't yet been updated, but it's comfy and we sat in a booth with a real log fire. Can't ask for much more...

We came here two days in a row for a few quiet games of pool and a few beers. We did not eat here, so this review is purely for the social side of things. The owner/barman, was very friendly and attentive without invading our privacy. Good selection of beers and ciders on tap, at reasonable prices, the pool table was our main attraction though, and at only 50p a game we were there some time! So long in fact, that the bride discovered that the pub closed at 2pm and it was already twenty to three and he hadn't come in to tell us that he was closing, he was fine and said carry on and finish your game. If he is like this with everything then the pub will be great. We will be visiting again as we like the cottage up the road, Dan Y Coed, but will be sampling the menu here next time and will report back on this also. Words just seem inadequate to describe the lovely meal and evening we had At The Mount !!As it was My Parent's Wedding Anniversary i had said to them to Book a place for dinner and i would foot the bill, we have eaten at The Mount before and on those occasions the food has always been of an exceptionally high quality. well this time they supassed themselves !!My father had the lamb shank which the lamb literally fell of the bone, Mum had the Lasagne which looked and tasted wonderful and i opted for the Steak & Guinness pie. all the dishes were homemade and the Gravy both Dad and i had with our meals was to die for full of meaty flavour. we ate our meals in The lounge which has timber beams and a nice warm fire.everyone from the owner down was charming and polite and made the evening shine. The desserts were also wonderful Apple pie & Ice cream for Mum & Dad, and a Rich chocolate cake and ice cream for me and wow that dessert was decadent and really hit the spot !!I have eaten at lots of places both here and abroad, but The Mount could take on some of the big guns (Chain pubs & Restaurants) and win hands down in my book. GO AND TRY IT FOR YOURSELVES !! I feel sure you will come away with a good expirience.

It's so lovely to finally be able to go to a restaurant that you know are understanding of allergens. The chef really knows his menu and the ingredients in it. I really wanted the moules marinere as I hadn't been able to have them since I discovered my dairy intolerance. However I also have an intolerance to eggs and it said it had eggs in the dish. The chef advised it was only on the bread so we switched out the bread and boom I had yummy moules marinere. Portions are massive (too big for me but I'm always happy to go home with a doggy bag), food is good quality and yummy. The interior design is relaxing and cosy. I highly recommend. We'd love to see a gluten free beer on tap in the future. But they do have a few in bottles. We live fairly far away but we'll be sure to return whenever we're in the area.

Second time I’ve had chips from here that were Raw, pale and taste like cleaning sanitiser - was sick for 3 days following. Also ordered a burger - raw in the middle and mould on the bun. Sausage had split open (oil too hot) and full of grease. Avoid avoid avoid. Awful pricing, terrible quality.

I visited this place with my lovely sister on our return trip from Snowdonia. I don’t use the term ‘the best’ lightly, but this was truly the best fish and chips I’ve had in the UK over the past 12 years. I can’t wait to return as soon as I can.
