Went here whilst visiting the area for a birthday. Everything about this place was amazing. Loads of drink choice, big portions and tasted amazing! Definitely recommend.

We visited the Cliff ond a Tuesday for an evening meal and opted for the special three course Christmas Menu. Excellent service and first class food. All four of us really enjoyed. We were even offered tea and coffe with mints and mince pies. What a tread! Great price too.

Oh dear, what has happened to the menu! We have eaten many times here and the food has generally been consistent and the menu sensibly priced and with a good variety of dishes. Our previous visit was about 3 or 4 months ago so I assumed we would get the same or similar menu. My bad for not checking; the old menu has been replaced by pretentious French described dishes (why?!) and a huge price hike across the board. We chose the King Prawns Risotto, overpriced at £18.50. The dish was garnished with one king prawn, no more: the rice was tasty enough but the dish very poor value for money. Regrettably, we won't be returning, such a shame after an association with the hotel restaurant over many years. I suspect many people, like us, will vote with their feet. Nearby Crickhowell has much to offer on the dining front.

Delicious, Freshly Cooked Food! The food was perfectly cooked, wrapped in traditional paper instead of plastic—fresh, hot, and of outstanding quality. Truly excellent value for money. It’s refreshing to see a chip shop that maintains such high standards, avoiding overpriced options with poor service and low quality. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for restoring our faith in great Fish and Chips! other chip shops need to learn by this!

Christmas lunch 2023, £90 per head. Utter disappointment and a truly Fawlty Towers-esque experience. We had to laugh as it was Christmas Day but it was really awful. No one in reception, sign saying go to the bar. No one in the bar, eventually found a passing member of staff and we were directed to where Christmas lunch was happening. Through a door with a large sign saying ‘toilets’ past a kitchen set up and into what I assume is their banqueting space. We managed to catch someone’s eye and rather than being shown to our table we were waved in the general direction and had to please ourselves. After ten minutes of just sitting there I had to get up and ask a nearby waitress to take our drinks order. She seemed a little bit surprised we wanted drinks… Eventually some drinks arrived but it would take four more times asking for some water for the table before it came. Starters came out eventually and were fine. We then thought it would be nice to have some wine…. Me- could we have some wine please? Waitress- ……….. Me- do you have a wine list? Waitress- …..not really a wine list no…… what were you thinking of……. Me- maybe some white wine? Nice and dry? Maybe something from New Zealand? Waitress- erm…. I think we have a Pinot?? I don’t know about wine, I’m the wedding planner….. Me- ok let’s try the Pinot… Screw top of Italian Pinot Grigio plonked on the table and three glasses plonked down upside down….. By this point we really needed the wine! Mains were served, plated turkey dinner. We wait patiently for the dish of veg seen in the middle of all the other tables. It doesn’t arrive. I catch the eye of the waitress and enquire…. In her words ‘hmmm, they have run out of veg and there’s no more. I’m not sure what the plan is….’ No apology, nil, nada. Not five mins later we see veg sailing out to other tablets. At this point not even the wine is enough to soothe and we managed to ask the only sensible member of staff in the place, who magics up some veg asap. I could go on but I won’t. What the experience lacked in terms of service, it make up for in sheer comedy value but was daylight robbery for what we actually had. Hey ho! Update- very kindly the venue read my review and got back to me directly without me having to chase. They kindly refunded the cost of a bottle of wine and £15 per head. To be clear, the food was fine, I think we expected a little more for the price though, maybe a glass of fizz on arrival, coffee and petit fours after the meal etc. Kelly was fab on the day and when replying. The rest of the service was poor as described as above.

We had seen the advertising for a Valentines Meal Deal. I enquired as if this was available at lunch time too, as we were travelling a fair distance. Communication was good and we were given a dog friendly table as requested. There wasn't the live music or chocolate dipped strawberries or cocktails on arrival, but we were the only ones celebrating at lunchtime, that I was aware of. The chef came & asked us if there was anything we didn't like and then produced dish after dish of delicious tapas. The freshness, the quality and quantity of every dish was gorgeous. We received more than value for money !! Our cocktails came with dessert which also included our chocolate dipped strawberries, also delicious. I had the impression that this is a new venture & a few service issues will no doubt get ironed out (no staff behind the bar when you need them). The old property also looks as if it is undergoing some improvements. I have no doubt that this is going to be a destination of choice for the quality of food on offer.

I had a flat white and an espresso here, both of which I found a bit underwhelming. Firstly, the espresso had absolutely no crema. It seems like they were using very old beans. It tasted extremely bitter to the point of being undrinkable. Sadly, the flat white was not far behind. Too much air was added to the milk, leaving big bubbles in it as opposed to microfoam. I don't think the barista had much training on using the machine (though, hopefully, she will improve over time!)

Oh wow the decor from the outside tempting but looks expensive and shiny. Then you walk in and feel like you've walked into a diner from the legendary era of film and movie stars. Only it's you that's the special occasion and your friends and family who love the inside and friendly feel of the singing and ambience. I love you all that you for making me feel at home. Sweet potato fries and a black coffee is my recommendation. Hope you enjoy as much as I did Thank you
