We dropped in without booking hoping to get lunch. I was with my friend and her disabled dad. They were able to offer us a table and from the start the experience was excellent. The staff member ( I think it was the Manager) came out to the car park to see if we needed any help with the wheelchair. We were promptly seated and drinks and food order taken quickly. All members of staff were polite and friendly. The food came in a good waiting time and we were all really pleased with the food. I had an ultimate burger, my friend a Thai beef dish and her dad an all day breakfast. Great portion sizes, hot and all tasty. Really reasonably priced as well ! Thankyou for such a great experience

Friendly staff, hearty, simple menu, great coffee. We stopped here after walking Crickhowell to Brecon via the Black Mountains. They weren’t bothered about muddy boots but we took off at door anyway. Toilets immaculate. Chef’s playlist that could be heard in the dining area - not a bad song on it for about an hour. Good on him!!

We stopped here to break up a long journey. Straight away it seemed very unwelcoming. My son is autistic, and because he seemed more comfortable in the corner section we asked to move tables. We were advised that was the dog friendly section, and obviously we would move if needed, it was quiet at the time, but this seem like an inconvenience to move tables. Then when my son was wandering in the pub, this seemed to annoy a couple of guests, and I know he seemed hyperactive but these are some of his autistic traits, this seemed to annoy one couple in particular, where the man was making very rude comments ( I know you have no control over who comes into your pub) but overall it just felt very unwelcoming in there. Are kids not allowed in here? It didn't seem like it. We come past this pub often, so we will not be stopping here again.

My wife and I were staying in a B&B in Berriew which didn’t cook evening meals on a Sunday, so we decided to try this inn for our dinner. We arrived without reservations, but were quickly shown to a table by a very pleasant member of staff who immediately took our drinks order. The drinks arrived and we ordered our food soon after. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, and it looked very well presented. My wife had lasagne, which she told me was hot and tasty, however my steak and ale pie with chips was not quite so. Again, my meal was hot, but the meat in the pie was very grisly, which was a shame as the pastry was excellent. The chips and beans with my meal were first class, so absolutely no problems with them. As we ate our meal the chef came out and asked if everything was okay with the food. I told him about the meat in the pie, to which he laughed and then walked away. Now, what’s the point in asking me about my meal if you are not going to take action when you receive such a comment? Anyway, we finished the meal and went up to the bar to pay, at which time we were asked again if all was okay. I told the member of staff at the bar about the meat and this time it had a totally different outcome, in that someone, whom I took to be the manager, became involved, and she showed concern about the fact that my meal had not been perfect. She also told me that she would be having words with the supplier about said pie. We ended the conversation coming to an amicable agreement of a goodwill gesture, so I’m more than happy with the outcome. If it had not have been for the issue with the pie then this meal would have been almost perfect, in that the staff were lovely, the restaurant was clean and in a good state of decoration, and the service was first rate. My only other comment would be that the prices were a tad dearer than around my home city of Leicester, but not unusual for a country inn.
