The best restaurants serving British food in Mid Wales

Awful. The service was terrible, over priced food, they got the order wrong. Meals came out at separate times, my husband has finished his before I even had mine (had to ask for it). Cash only, and very adamant you pay when order. Staff in their own world, no customer service at all. Wish I never gave them £35 of my money!

People who we asked in the street told us about this place, they said it was “lovely” and they were correct! Comfortable and cosy, fresh food served, a varied menu, quick table service and, surprisingly, inexpensive!

A pound for a portion of tomato sauce, a pound, seriously! Total rip off you don't find out until it's too late. A pound!!!

Another superb Sunday lunch .This time it was Chicken Supreme, absolutely beautiful, very tender and super tasty .Well worth a visit 😊

Ordered cream tea. Scone fell apart as I picked it up. It had been heated up. Partner took it to counter to explain, very politely, that we didn't want it hot and it had collapsed. Counter staff girl explained she's told to heat them. Partner attempted to explain cream tea scones aren't normally hot as clotted cream will end up melting but it was obvious she was now upset. The next customer had the coffee pot slammed extra hard on the counter. Then the girl, after disappearing out back with another staff member, came back behind the counter and made some reference to 'people shouldn't tear a strip pit of people just because they're disabled' (I'm a stroke survivor in a wheelchair). I was horrified and couldn't wait to get out of there!!

Lovely charming building , lovely staff grey food and . Comfortable rooms well worth a stay we will be back Montgomery was a lovely town as well

Friendly staff, hearty, simple menu, great coffee. We stopped here after walking Crickhowell to Brecon via the Black Mountains. They weren’t bothered about muddy boots but we took off at door anyway. Toilets immaculate. Chef’s playlist that could be heard in the dining area - not a bad song on it for about an hour. Good on him!!

Fabulous pub, food was great, staff friendly, good parking and garden area was lovely. Could not fault it. Good value for money. Will be back.

Stayed here for 3 nights, very comfortable and friendly staff. The evening menu is very good and the food is outstanding. The quality is amazing and portions are generous. This should be award winning food. Try it out! You won’t be disappointed.

Home cooked food, with good choice for vegetarians. Lovely cosy feel to the pub. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Quite simply the worst food in living memory. Paid £28 pound for a mixed grill and they forgot the steak and the egg, also no steak knife. Had to eat it as I hadn’t eaten all day.

Stayed over night in the car park in our camper van. Had food and drinks which were excellent. Staff and service was superb. Pub had a lovely local feel to it. Will definitely go back if I’m ever in that area again.

We haven't visited the restaurant for a couple of years but we were delighted that the place and food was still of an excellent standard. There is an extensive menu which should cater for all tastes

Had visited a couple of times before, had the cheese platter which was amazing. They've done a great job with the pug.

Great typical pub. Dog friendly. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Quiet enough to have a relax. Drinks only but reasonable pricing
