The best restaurants serving British food in Mid Wales

We looked at pubs locally that were dog friendly, we arrived ahead with one dog and 12 people following only to be told they had no dog friendly spaces available. Very disappointed we only wanted a quick drink so went to the lion hotel instead very welcoming with good beer, don’t bother with the horseshoes go to the lion hotel instead or the nags head

Not the staffs fault coz they are great but this is last time for me here!. £5.90 for 8 pieces of scampi no bigger than a Malteser and a large chips which would only serve 1 person. Had a sit down meal last week for cheaper. Increasing the chippy prices to pub prices and reducing to children's portions is completely out of order!

Amazing service and very accommodating for my step dad who has to have a vegan diet due to a condition called PKU, couldn’t vault the service dedication and atmosphere. Thank you all

Fantastic stop near the Elan Valley for good coffee, tea, gorgeous cakes and great breakfast too. Ever so friendly and helpful, good clean toilets. Who could ask for more? Perfect stop any time of the day in lovely Rhayader

Really lovely cafe. We had breakfast here and it was really good. Portions were hearty, food quality was great and the staff were engaging. Would definitely recommend going and if we are in Rhayader again we will be revisiting!

Great Pizza! I try to get pizza here every time I visit Borth (which is a lot in summer) My family have stuff, burgers, Garlic Prawns etc which they enjoy, the chips and sides are good, but I always have the pizza (Cranberry and Bree) It’s so good it stops me from trying anything else

Pros: Breakfast great and you are secured a clear view if you take a later time seating Early eve (from 5pm ish) mist starts rolling in. Early morning too. They do a nice little treat and give you a starter of fruit, toast,Croissants and juice then take your main order after. Lovely morning person as manager. Long hair tied back. Cons: A con! Prices for the same Menu are shown as cheaper on the website. When you arrive mains are average of £5 more expensive. They have you as a sitting duck. What are you going to do?! Restaurant looks like a nursing home canteen or a Band B breakfast area in Blackpool. Massive cash injection needed - It doesn’t tie in with any of the rest of the hotel’s antiquey charm. Eye sore. No table cloths flat pack 90’s tables wobbly because they’re held up by a metal ugly centre prong. Cheap and nasty. Food looked minuscule in portion sizes Top tips- Be prepared to travel elsewhere 20-30 mins or get a takeAway in your room. Enjoy the view in a nicer space. Seeds restaurant Fri Sat night only. Slightly cheaper - Superior food.

Overall a lovely meal We had to wait at reception and were then told to seat at the only table set for 3 people but weren’t taken to table Initially service was a bit slow but it did improve Staff were polite and friendly Food was good, fresh and very tasty

Stayed here for 3 nights, very comfortable and friendly staff. The evening menu is very good and the food is outstanding. The quality is amazing and portions are generous. This should be award winning food. Try it out! You won’t be disappointed.

Home cooked food, with good choice for vegetarians. Lovely cosy feel to the pub. We would definitely recommend a visit.

The menu was not as varied as what I had seen on the Internet. The kitchen seems to work separately from the bar. We were informed of a wait, which was fine. However, others came in after us and got seved before us. Our order was wrong and so was the table opposite. Actually, getting our hands on a menu was an achievement. Food is good when you get it. Needs team building to improve customer satisfaction. Speaking on behalf of 3 tables!

Great experience at this pub. My husband raved about his lasagne and even praised the garden peas as tasty. I was really pleased that my vegan burger was like a ‘beyond burger’ style patty which I really like. Absolutely amazing chips and the staff were super lovely too. I would highly recommend and will be back.
