Gorgeous home cooked food. We had the Sunday roast - I’m fussy & it was superb. An incredibly friendly pub. Everybody so welcoming. If you find yourself in Sennybridge then take the time to pay the Shoemakers a visit in Pentre Bach.
We booked a last minute break away to Castell Howell, staying in one of the cottages on site. We took 3 children and two dogs with us and had a wonderful stay. The cottage is equipped with the essentials and was kept warm and clean. The beds were comfortable and made with bedding and towels provided.
The owners were very welcoming and beyond helpful during our stay. Went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. We were greeted on arrival with a welcome basket with coffee, tea, milk, a small bottle of wine, a bottle of cider and drinks for the children- which was a very lovely gesture.
The views surrounding the property are stunning and there were plenty of places to walk the dogs locally, but was also only a 20-30 minute drive to dog friendly beaches in Ceredigan and New Quay.
There are lots of other local attractions which the owners are more than happy to advise on things you can do locally and the best places to go.
The property is very out of the way, so phone signal was an issue, however, there is wifi in the communal areas- bar and pool.
We swam in the on site pool every day and visited the bar as well. It was very quiet so we had the pool to ourselves and had excellent service in the bar. The pool was warm and had changing rooms with showers and toilets as well.
The facilities could definitely do with a bit of a clean and updating but this doesn't take away from the overall experience we had.
The kids had a blast and we welcomed the break from our phones and work. In fact none of us wanted to leave!
We will definitely be returning, thank you Castell Howell!
La comida era excelente, vegetariana fresca. El asado de nueces fue increíble. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Relación calidad-precio. Gran menú. El mejor almuerzo de pub que he tenido. 11 de 10 .
We booked an early evening meal at the Caer Beris Manor, eating at the Teulu restaurant. We were the first table to arrive as we had asked for an early evening reservation. The dining room was in keeping with the hotel, oak panelled with a lot of heritage, except for the two big TV monitors showing what the chefs in the kitchen were creating. I loved the TV monitors. It showed the art and dedication the chefs put into the creation of each of the dishes. There were five at our table, and we ordered all but one dish on the starter and the main course that night, and we did order every dessert. All I can say is wow. The sound of excellent food being eaten, silence as the first mouthful was taken, followed by the joyful murmurs and expressions of excitement as the next bite was better than the first. The desserts were incredible and an absolute pleasure to eat.
I started with the chicken liver parfait, followed by the lamb and the beetroot frangipane for dessert.
We will be visiting Jamie and the team at Teulu restaurant every time we are in the area. What a fantastic find.
Lovely food , despite an abundance of bees landing on us whilst eating with 3 little children under the veranda , owners have got some bee attractions but they were all full . No children’s menu but we ordered adults food and shared them out . And no high chairs , so although children liked the animals we probs won’t go again because cafe no overly child friendly .
So pleased to see Aber has a Cafe Nero! THE best coffee house. I popped in for an Americano with oak milk, had a few issues with my app but the male barista was very helpful and sorted it out for me- thanks! Lush, strong coffee.
Very lucky to have this close by. We come here regularly and it never disappoints. The staff are fantastic and very friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. I'm gluten free and vegan and there's always plenty of choices. It has such a great atmosphere and is dog friendly! We would and do recommend this place regularly.
Stopped here after walking a long section of the coastal path, and what a fabulous place to end the day, great food, lovely relaxed atmosphere with benches outside along the beach front. Bar manager so friendly and was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us to get home. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back again!
A nice homely cafe, with a nice atmosphere and a traditional food menu at good prices. The staff are friendly and helpful. A very community minded cafe and even a pensioner menu day on Thursdays. Worth a visit, situated at the top of Quay Street.
