The best restaurants in Mid Wales

We booked a table here whilst we were staying in the area. I am gutted this pub is not nearer to home, as we would be regulars if it was! The food was fantastic. It is by far the best pub food I've had in a long time. The curry was excellent, as was the home made pies. The kids portions were huge and the chips home cooked and plentiful. We went in during Halloween and the pub was really well decorated and there was a fantastic atmosphere. I would recommend booking as when we called in it is clearly a well used local venue, for all the right reasons. Staff were friendly, pub and toilets were clean. Couldn't ask for more. If we are in the Builth area again, we will be heading here for food!

We went here as a group of 15 people. We had a fixed main course, which was delicious, and a choice of puddings which were also excellent. We were very well looked after, with prompt and attentive service. To be highly recommended.

Had a room booked to celebrate a birthday in December. Had a bit of an odd feeling about the place in August as the booking calendar suddenly disappeared. My wife called them and was assured that everything was fine and we would be welcomed in December. Had an email on 3rd September from a winding-up firm that the Unicorn ceased trading and went into voluntary liquidation from 1st September and I would join a list of creditors. I guess that's my deposit: the cost of a night's stay, is forfeit.

Lovely old pub. Great food. And the couple that run the pub are very welcoming and friendly well worth stopping by if you're in the area.

What a lovely pub. After a long day of walking we thought of having a nice pub dinner, and were not disappointed. Prices are fair and staff friendly. The dogs were happy as they got a free sausage, thank you!

Excellent food , slightly off the beaten track but well worth making the effort to find it. Set meal was any easy option if you can't make you mind up

Have tried all the cafés in Hay but keep coming back to this one. In our opinion, it's the best. Haven't put a 🌟 against food because we only had hot chocolate

Got puncture this morning and can't get replacement until tomorrow...so nothing else to do than wait and have beer! Found this bar, very friendly atmosphere and felt very welcome. Would highly recommend!

The right place if you're visiting Cardigan in Wales and fancying a delicious Italian gelato ice cream. Rich in flavor and the texture is incredibly smooth, melting perfectly in your mouth. The selection is impressive, featuring both classic flavors like pistachio, and unique creations such as Welsh cake (highly recommended). The menu is simple yet diverse, offering a range of gelato ice cream, smoothies, milk shakes, tea and coffee and pies and light pastries for a light breakfast. The cafe also has a small outdoor seating area, which is perfect for enjoying your breakfast on a sunny day.

My and my family went here for dinner, and their steaks were old and not cooked properly.

Play area is great, but waited 30mins for our hot drinks when we arived & then waited an hour for our daughters cheese sandwich, no apology and no warning there was a wait, very poor service. Floors not being cleaned with food and drink all over. Poor!

The Kwai Chin on Market street has been a firm favourite of mine for many years. "Double Happiness" is my latest fav' Great Food, Lovely staff & really nice atmosphere

Wow what a beautiful place!! Loved our stay here. Angharad and Rob are just a wonderful couple and make you feel welcomed and at home. The homemade cakes in the room were gorgeous and breakfast was the best. They've done such an amazing job with Caemorgan Mansion it's beautifully decorated throughout. We will definitely be back when we visit the area again. Thank you for having us 😊 and Mwnt was definitely worth the visit.

Very delicious food, especially the grilled chicken dish, perfectly seasoned and cooked, definitely coming again!! The service was great!!
