Food was nice, and service was good. Very pretty location and lovely setting indoors. Little on the pricier side for what we were getting, but was very nice overall and had a good time.

Worth a drive out to visit this gastro pub. They use local produce in their globally influenced meals.

4 of us today booked in for the Sunday lunc! The carrot and pepper soup was lovely as was the helium fries! However the roast beef was tough sitting on top of all the veg! An assortment of cabbage broccoli and baby carrots! Roast potatoes and gravy completed the plate! Which was ok but not memorable! Now the desserts both boys chose the apple tart and ice cream! The waitress was asked for custard and she explained no custard today as the chief liked to make all his own dishes! The pastry case was bought in and topped with what I beilive to be cooked tinned sliced apples and topped with a cinnamon crumb! In all this was a disappointment! The waitress had overheard our comments on the table and came at us very defensive and bolshy in our opinion

We were passing through the area and found this place on trip advisor, popped in for dinner tonight (15/4/25). Lovely little country pub, nice welcome. My partner and sat in the dining room in front of a large fireplace. My partner had steak which she enjoyed and I had an absolutely incredible burger (The Bull Burger), I’m somewhat a connoisseur of a pub buger, it’s a regular order of mine and this one was probably the best one I’ve ever had and that’s saying something. Absolutely perfect, fresh, juicy and delicious with some crisp salad and soft fresh bun, home made fries and even home made slaw which was all great. Really good job. Even kept a 5 star rating from the initial disappointment of not having an IPA on draft or even in a can. Special mention to the waitress who was incredibly accommodating to my diabetic partner, thank you. Definitely something to fix but this place is on our list if we’re in the area again for sure!

A wonderful selection of food in a beautiful setting. I chose the Korean Chicken Thighs, cooked to perfection, crispy skin & a delicious sauce with a slight kick. The rest of our group were all satisfied & I definitely recommend.

We went as a large family group for a Christmas gathering. We were on holiday so didn't know the area at all. So glad we found this place, the food was divine and it was such a friendly place. Staff were helpful and attentive. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This is a lovely pub & the food is amazing. I has a Masala Chicken burger that was the best thing I’ve ever eaten & the chips were amazing but far too many for me to finish. Beer selection is great & the staff are really friendly & helpful. We will be back!

WOW!! What an absolute gem of a place! Me and my partner visited mid wales for a weeks break and the lodge we stayed at had this pub in the guest book! We are so glad they did! The food was incredible! Service was brilliant and the atmosphere was like a really warm local feeling! A pub you must visit!!

A very nice traditional pub. Feels old and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent. Between my wife and son we had pie of the day, beef short ribs, and I had the bull burger. My mouth is watering as I said this a full two days later. The burger was probably the second best I've had in my life with the best in a hotel restaurant in Mauritius and I'm not even sure that's just the memory or if it really was better. We'll be back again this week (whilst on holiday) and my only regret is that I can't bring myself to try another dish because the burger is that good I simply have to have it again. There's ample parking and outdoor seating when the weather permits. This is a rare gem of a pub I wish I lived closer to. Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy an amazing meal here.

A great find in the Welsh countryside. It’s a proper traditional pub with amazing food. The quality and presentation was exceptional. The kids meals are hearty enough for bigger kids also which is a great bonus for a family of four. A huge well done to this establishment for hitting the nail on the head for a true countryside pub. 👌👏

Charming Pub&Restaurant near Gregynog . We went to the Bull & Heifer for a family dinner on a Tuesday night. The place warm and cozy, with a friendly crowd animating the pub. The staff welcomed us with smiles and good attitude and was ready to attend to us and explain the menu. There were so many options for the main dishes that it was hard to make a choice, but with the staff to guide us through the menu, we ended up choosing the special pie 🥧 stuffed with meat and vegetables and the chicken stuffed with truffles in a mushroom sauce. Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable. Absolutely recommend

Working in the catering industry I was quite shocked to see a food standard rating of 2 at this village pub . If I had seen this before we ate I would definitely have stayed away . However we have just eaten the best roast dinner we have ever had , in the cleanest of premises with the best service possible. I only hope this place gets reviewed again soon by food standards agency and they pass with a 5 ⭐. Thank you to staff here for an amazing meal twice this week , superb value and quality .

The whole family were a bit sceptical about this place as we driving on B roads in the middle of nowhere on holiday when all of a sudden we arrived at this little village with a car park full of cars. We decided to go in and we were not disappointed. Friendly locals, friendly waiter and excellent banter from the bar tender who also tried to keep my dog lol. Food was amazing, 3 had the steaks, 1 had the chicken burger and 1 had the bull burger, we were not disappointed. We will definitely return to this pub on our next visit, unfortunately the young lad with banter mentioned that he was leaving 😪. Thanks to you both for making our evening eventful and enjoyable.

We came for Sunday lunch on 8/9/24. This was our first time here we have a caravan in Garthmyl so the Bull & Heifer is about 15-20min drive we like to try different places for Sunday lunch when we’re down there. I can honestly say that the Sunday roast we had is in the top 5 that we have had. The beef was cooked perfectly the gravy was the best I’ve tasted you tell it was real homemade. The veg was all cooked to my liking. My partner had the roast pork which said was lovely too but could have done with a couple more slices. I had the white chocolate sundae lovely & my partner had the Artic roll which was also lovely. It was pretty quiet for a Sunday I thought but maybe the weather had a lot to do with it as it was a very wet day. The beer garden looked very nice & I can see it being very busy when the weather is better. The staff were lovely & polite. If we are back that way I wouldn’t hesitate in calling in again.

Can’t recommend this place enough, food was excellent and was a cut above “pub grub” with different ideas applied to your country pub staples. Wouldn’t hesitate to come again and we definitely will be back. Lovely atmosphere and dog friendly too

Didn't book, walked in got table in bar room, beautiful piping hot red pepper soup filled by the most mouthwatering tender Roast beef dinner with a great selection of perfectly cooked veg..... 👌 definitely couldn't squeeze pudding in 🤣

Had a really great time here, we stayed near by and went for dinner on a Friday evening it was great food nice outdoor space with the kids. The staff were really welcoming and helpful. We liked it so much we booked for a roast dinner on the Sunday which was excellent. Couldn't be happier

Ordered Steak .Cooked as requested but was probably the fattiest Steak I have ever had.The meal was for my wife's birthday but was in whole a bit of a let down after been told was the best meals in the area.

Middle of nowhere in Wales. Wonderful. Excellent. Support the local shop. Villages need them. Stayed in nearby log cabin farm. Really enjoyed it all.

Great food and a limited menu so they really focus on the good bits. Place seems stooped in history and a lovely decor around it

Lovely Country Pub with a welcoming, cosy atmosphere. Food is spectacular, wasn't expecting much as I ordered a Burger, but wow, what a burger, perfectly cooked and seasoned with all the sauces, chips were proper chips, cooked to perfection! I highly recommend!

Spent a Saturday afternoon in the garden soaking up the atmosphere and then a Sunday lunchtime demolishing a great roast and dessert! Very friendly staff, excellent food, minimal range of alcohol free options but enough to tide me over. Tempted to go back again for another meal!

This place was a good find, the service and staff were so friendly and the food really good. If you never tried pheasant, order this starter as it blew my mind - who knew they were so tasty? Then we had burgers, and let me tell you the portions were more than generous. Also, and such a bonus, they are dog friendly. Do book a table in advance.

Had one of the best Sunday lunches ever. I had roast pork, melt in your mouth, came with ample vegetables and roasted potatoes, gravy was delicious accompanied by a huge yorkshire. Hubby had the pie, with all of the above. Service was attentive and professional. Lovely friendly young barman. Can't recommend enough. The Malbec was also top notch. Thank you B&H.

Just been here today with my family to take our mum out for her birthday we had the bottomless brunch the staff were absolutely incredible so attentive food was absolutely amazing even catered for the fussy eaters! After the flood, the pub/restaurant have pulled out all the stops to get operating again and they've done a great job. It's good to be back! We had Sunday lunch today. just a main course and some drinks. The roast beef dinner was perfect as usual, just the right amount of pink in the meat and fresh, delicious, perfectly seasoned veg. I was tempted, but there was something new on the menu - tempura battered chicken chilli burger. - Oh it was stunning. Not your usual Sunday lunch, but perfect!

We visited as a group of 9 plus dog for Sunday lunch while staying in the area. We booked ahead & the person we spoke to was really helpful including providing information on the gluten-free options for our friend who is coeliac. On the day we had a lovely table in a quiet corner. The staff were friendly, helpful & attentive. Sunday lunches were outstanding - all 3 courses were fab. The veggies in our group were very impressed with the pie - mushroom, root veg & ale. Highly recommended, it was a highlight of our visit to the area.

4 of us rocked up on Sunday hoping to try the B&H burger but it was Sunday roast only 🤦🏻 We decided to stay and glad we did, the food was excellent, not the usual dubious quality pub grub we come across far too often. It was perfectly cooked and full of flavour, the desserts too, well worth the trip. we’ll be back some day for that B&H burger.

I found the food good but not worth £20. Per head for one course and when compared to the Unicorn in Caersws. Which is probably the best Carvery around.

Crazy good. I ate every bite of a three course Sunday lunch and washed it down with three pints. Was as happy as I've ever been leaving the place. Well recommended.

Food is amazing, highly recommend. Only down side is the baby changing is dirty, it's just an old changing mat you gave to put on the floor in the ladies, our baby was about 8 weeks at the time and there was no way i was using that!!

Loverly pub, food wasn’t as good as we’d expected Sunday dinner roast potatoes and some of the veg burnt, but will be giving it another try soon as the starter and dessert was very good.

Fab food and drink and exceptional service in a charming and friendly atmosphere. They accommodated the needs of a group of 9, including fussy teenagers and a vegetarian, without a problem. We were very well looked after. Highly recommended for Sunday lunch or a drink.

Turned up on spec at 6pm to find Fully booked so I presume it's a good place to eat but could not testify . Staff seemed rushed / indifferent. Book in advance

Visited with family for our Last meal out in Wales and we weren't disappointed. Very busy at time but friendly staff found a table and explained delay to our order. Meal was in our top five for burgers/ chicken burgers with great chips and veg.will definitely call again when in area.

Fantastic food. We tried the loaded fries and they have to be the best we've had in a long time, plentiful portions and definitely a meal in itself. Absolutely amazing creme brulee with raspberry sorbet to finish. Prices very reasonable. Good real ale too. Friendly service and dog friendly, would highly recommend a visit. We'll definitely be back again.

A lovely country pub with happy and helpful staff serving excellent food. Don't be surprised by the large portions, we had loaded fries (the fries on their own were amazing) and a side of Southern Fried Pheasant and Onion Rings, we were stuffed afterwards!

Excellent food the duck was cooked to perfection and the sticky toffee pudding was to die for, staff were friendly

First visit and just for a quick drink so can't really say other than my 30 minute visit was fine ... Nice friendly proper pub type pub with good atmosphere 👌 So ... since our quick visit a few moons ago ...I it's now the 2nd time eating here and I must say ... despite not getting my onion rings on time .... the quality of food, beer and amazing service more than makes up for such a small mistake .... keep it up guys!

Went for Valentine’s meal and was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it. The tables were laid out beautifully, the menu was all chef created meals with an emphasis on game (which I love). The food was tasty and cooked well, presentation truly wonderful. Service couldn’t be faulted, you didn’t have to struggle to get the attention of the staff, they were simply there. This pub I truly recommend to anyone who likes a great atmosphere, great food,excellent choice of beers and wonderful staff

Traditional pub serving great beer in warm cosy surroundings. Really good restaurant . Food and service are excellent and staff are lovely. Log fires are a must in a traditional pub, totally adds to the ambiance.
