Really lovely cafe. We had breakfast here and it was really good. Portions were hearty, food quality was great and the staff were engaging. Would definitely recommend going and if we are in Rhayader again we will be revisiting!

Wow! I hardly review places anymore but I had to write about this amazing place and recommend it to anyone who is after a tasty fry up for breakfast. The eggs were so delicious, great portion sizes, lots of variety on the menu for all tastes and budgets, speedy and friendly service as well as good value for money. We will definitely go back if we're in the area again! The cakes in the display case looked incredible too.

Lovely little cafe in the centre of town. Has an amazing range on the menu of food and drink, breakfast was amazing having the avocado and poached eggs cooked perfectly and you could tell it was fresh produce, was so excited to tuck in i didn't get a picture but I did get one of the coffee.

If you're travelling up or down the A470, this is an excellent place to stop. There is plenty of seating, the menu has a wide choice of breakfasts, snacks and main meals. The eggs and avocado on toast, the ham eggs and chip and the macaroni cheese, were all ravenously consumed. The glass cabinet also displayed some delicious looking cakes. The coffee was very good, strong and tasty (not like the tasteless dishwater masked with syrup you get in some well known chains!) Service was friendly, efficient and quick (important when you're on a tight schedule). The only issue here is parking. The large carpark on the Llanidloes Rd is a step away, so you're at the mercy of finding nearby onstreet parking. All in all, well worth factoring in a stop when making travel plans.

We thought we would give it a try on a wet day in October. We walked in to find it busy with a nice vibe. I did not expect the Brusque woman shouting at us when we stepped inside. "We are full and don't have any tables". While this was true I would have expected a better customer service response like "I am sorry we are full at the moment we will have a table in.... As regular visitors to Rhyader we were dissaponted and will never be back.

Whilst visiting Rhayader for work, my partner and I decided to find a nice cafe for a breakfast to start the day. Ty Morgan’s is located right in the middle of the small village and is quite appealing from the outside. We were greeted by staff members who were friendly but eager to provide us with an excellent service. We ordered the Ty Morgan’s full breakfast which arrived to our table extremely quickly - very good service indeed. The breakfast was honestly one of the nicest breakfast we have had in a long time. Portion size was just right and all of the produce tasted fresh. Notably the bacon was to die for. Menu is set at a reasonable price and is good value for money. It is obvious that Ty Morgan’s is the place to be as every time we drove past this weekend it was bustling with bikers and other patrons. Would definitely recommend.

Came here for a quick bite to eat to break up a long journey. Ordered within about five minutes of walking in, waited about ten minutes for the food to come. We ordered a jacket potato with ham and cheese, toasted ciabatta with ham and cheese and a full cooked breakfast. The jacket potato with ham and cheese was nicely presented and had lovely ham in it. The two things that let it down were that the cheese was only mild cheddar (I like strong cheddar as it enhances the jacket a lot more) and it was only lukewarm. The same went for the two other meals we ordered, which always makes it that slightly less tasty. Other from that however, the food was nice and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Coffees were also very good.

I stopped today here and bought a ham salad sandwich to take out, it was £4.40 but I didn't mind that as I thought it would be a nice fresh homemade sandwich. Whilst indeed It was fresh and homemade, it had lettuce, a small bit of cucumber, carrot, lots of onion and sweetcorn. The sweetcorn was odd, unexpected and actually disgusting in a ham salad sandwich. An odd ingredient to put in as lots of people won't like it. It was also poor that it contained one paltry slice of ham - for £4.40 you really should put more than that in. You couldn't even taste the ham over the onion and carrot, but thankfully I picked the sweet corn out. Bit of a rip off although the staff were absolutely lovely.

For a bistro that is modern and upmarket, it beggars belief that it uses such cheap products for breakfast. Bearing in mind, on its doorstep is the Welsh farming community, whose pig farmers, or the butchers opposite, would be only too happy to supply the bistro with local produce, why serve a soft, soggy, greasy, chip shop style deep fried sausage?

A friend and I were on our way from Cheltenham to the Elan Valley on a Sunday a few weeks ago and stopped at Rhydader and decided to have lunch there. Several restaurants and cafe's seemed to be closed and looking at some of the Hotels and Pubs we were thinking of moving on then spotted Ty Morgan's Bistro which looked very attractive so we decided to try it. It was very busy and we found the exact opposite to what a recent review said about the staff. We were asked by I assumed the owner/manager if we had a booking as most tables had been booked but despite having said we did not we were asked to wait a few minutes and then shown to a table. All the staff at the counter were helpful and cheerful as were the waitresses and the man in charge of what looked a very good carvery. I decided to try the carvery ( normally I tend to avoid these on a Sunday as not being of a good standard) but this one was excellent - turkey ham pork all looking as if they had been cooked to perfection and obviously top produce. I had the turkey and there was a large display of vegetables all of which were also attractive to the eye and care must have been taken with their cooking. I had to refuse more turkey as it would have been to much for me. My friend decided to have poached eggs and toast and she said even that had been cooked perfectly. The waitresses were attentive and went around smiling and obviously liked their job despite it being very busy. I wish I had bought some of their pastries and pies as well as they all looked so good. We thanked the owner/manager and the staff for their welcome and good service and excellent meals.

It looked really lovely at first, but after waiting for about 10 minutes being ignored at the counter I asked if we could grab a table. We ordered hot drinks which took a good 20 minutes to arrive. As we were on our way home and hungry we decided to order some food from the seemingly easy menu. I ordered a poached egg, toast, bacon and mushroom breakfast. My son ordered a cheese and ham panini, and my partner a chilli and cheese panini which he was rudely told they don’t do (even though it is listed in the fillings on the menu) so he settled for a jacket potato instead. After about 40 minutes I thought maybe they had forgotten us so my partner went to ask how long the food would be. He was told “we are busy” by the very stressed looking waitress who was running around like they were packed out even though there were about 10 people in there at the most! Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. I was shocked to find I had been served cold toast, hard ‘poached’ eggs and mushrooms that were burnt on one side and uncooked on the other (the bacon was nice). My son couldn’t eat his panini he said the ham was slimy and sinewy, so I tried some and couldn’t even chew it as it was so vile. My partner’s chilli jacket had about a dessert-spoonful of chilli on it and looked very unappetising, but he ate it because he was so hungry. Nobody came to check on us at all. We discussed complaining but it was clear it would become a long process. However after spending £30 on our ‘meal’ we decided to try. So my partner went to the counter and told the stressy waitress (after waiting another 10 minutes to be addressed). She explained she couldn’t do anything, but was sure the owner would appreciate the feedback so she’d ring her as she was just across the road. So we waited. After another 10 minutes the owner arrived. My partner listed the problems, and after her initial incredulous response of “well we are busy” he pointed out that we’d been there for well over an hour and 2 more people had come in, adding to the 10 already in there. She eventually refunded the money for the food (not the drinks), but couldn’t help herself commenting that she didn’t like his attitude. At no point was he rude or impolite! What an awful response to a valid complaint- the food was all still on the table for everyone in there to see!!!! She should sack the chef and focus on her customers’ experience! I would strongly advise people to avoid eating in this establishment, as I can only imagine the state of the kitchen! We all left feeling sick for our drive home, and my son was unwell during the journey.....

Stopped for lunch en route from N Wales to Devon. Order (prepaid) did not appear. After half an hour I asked where it was. Was told there is a delay on food. Replied that I hadn’t been told when ordering. The response was there was no delay at that time but other orders came in since. That is completely illogical. If it’s true perhaps they were giving preference to certain customers- maybe their friends. Really frustrating especially when in a hurry to get back on the road. Very poor service and general ‘don’t care’ attitude. The food, when it came, was really disappointing. Roast vegetables were mainly almost raw onion, and drowning the food in balsamic is unpalatable and suggests the chef has something to hide.

The restaurant is pleasant with good service and very tasty meals. It is good for breakfast, coffees or lunch. The dinner menu is good but it is often closed in winter.

We have eaten several times in Ty Morgan's Bistro and have always been happy with the food that we have chosen. The food was served promptly by friendly staff. There is also a room upstairs that you could hire for a small function.

We booked whilst staying in the area and were glad we did, as several people were turned away due to the restaurant being fully booked. The restaurant was cosy and inviting with a lovely open fire and the food was tasty. We enjoyed all three courses and would definitely return if in the area, just a shame it’s only open Friday and Saturday nights it seems.

Stopped by Friday evening for food with the family. Imidiatly greeted by miserable unenthusiastic bar staff who we also noticed one had been drinking. Safe to say will not return.

Fantastic food, friendly service and ambient setting. We regularly come to Rhayader and usually always eat at Ty Morgans one of the nights during our stay.

As part of the hotel we dined here and the food was delicious. The salmon and wild boar was amazing, followed by coconut panacotta, delicious. Excellent value for money but book as it gets busy

Called in for lunch, and I ordered the pie with mashed potatoes and peas and hubby had the poached eggs on toast. Absolutely rubbish and expensive. My pie was burnt black on the crust (as were the pies and pasties in the glass case), the mashed potatoes were Smash spuds, not proper ones and hubby's poached eggs were literally made of rubber. No runny yoke - think they were done in a microwave. For the price, very expensive. Will not be coming here quickly. Also the waitresses only brought the food and took away the plates. We had to order at the counter, collected our own cutlery and had to go to the counter to pay. Its obviously a café not a bistro. Had to put in "Cheap Eats" for "How expensive is it?", none of the others really fit the category

Gerne wieder!

On arrival in Rhayader, early afternoon and after a long m/cycle ride, an all day English (Welsh!) Breakfast seemed just the thing. It was. Good food and generous helpings.

Breakfast here was very nice but we felt a little expensive as a small breakfast did not include tea or coffee or toast. Very clean and tidy place to eat. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The same breakfast at The Ellan Valley Visitor Centre was £4.50 and incl., toast and tea or coffee.

I have visited three times for breakfast and once for lunch. One key feature is that they open at 8am which is a perfect time. Service is welcoming and efficient. I had cooked breakfast twice. The first time was excellent but on the second occasion I chose scrambled egg and wish I hadn't as it was overcooked and dry. I prefer my scrambled egg to be creamy and yellow. The rest of the breakfast was good. The third breakfast I had coffee and cake. Perfect!

We dropped in without booking hoping to get lunch. I was with my friend and her disabled dad. They were able to offer us a table and from the start the experience was excellent. The staff member ( I think it was the Manager) came out to the car park to see if we needed any help with the wheelchair. We were promptly seated and drinks and food order taken quickly. All members of staff were polite and friendly. The food came in a good waiting time and we were all really pleased with the food. I had an ultimate burger, my friend a Thai beef dish and her dad an all day breakfast. Great portion sizes, hot and all tasty. Really reasonably priced as well ! Thankyou for such a great experience

Friendly staff, hearty, simple menu, great coffee. We stopped here after walking Crickhowell to Brecon via the Black Mountains. They weren’t bothered about muddy boots but we took off at door anyway. Toilets immaculate. Chef’s playlist that could be heard in the dining area - not a bad song on it for about an hour. Good on him!!

We stopped here to break up a long journey. Straight away it seemed very unwelcoming. My son is autistic, and because he seemed more comfortable in the corner section we asked to move tables. We were advised that was the dog friendly section, and obviously we would move if needed, it was quiet at the time, but this seem like an inconvenience to move tables. Then when my son was wandering in the pub, this seemed to annoy a couple of guests, and I know he seemed hyperactive but these are some of his autistic traits, this seemed to annoy one couple in particular, where the man was making very rude comments ( I know you have no control over who comes into your pub) but overall it just felt very unwelcoming in there. Are kids not allowed in here? It didn't seem like it. We come past this pub often, so we will not be stopping here again.

My wife and I were staying in a B&B in Berriew which didn’t cook evening meals on a Sunday, so we decided to try this inn for our dinner. We arrived without reservations, but were quickly shown to a table by a very pleasant member of staff who immediately took our drinks order. The drinks arrived and we ordered our food soon after. It didn’t take long for the food to arrive, and it looked very well presented. My wife had lasagne, which she told me was hot and tasty, however my steak and ale pie with chips was not quite so. Again, my meal was hot, but the meat in the pie was very grisly, which was a shame as the pastry was excellent. The chips and beans with my meal were first class, so absolutely no problems with them. As we ate our meal the chef came out and asked if everything was okay with the food. I told him about the meat in the pie, to which he laughed and then walked away. Now, what’s the point in asking me about my meal if you are not going to take action when you receive such a comment? Anyway, we finished the meal and went up to the bar to pay, at which time we were asked again if all was okay. I told the member of staff at the bar about the meat and this time it had a totally different outcome, in that someone, whom I took to be the manager, became involved, and she showed concern about the fact that my meal had not been perfect. She also told me that she would be having words with the supplier about said pie. We ended the conversation coming to an amicable agreement of a goodwill gesture, so I’m more than happy with the outcome. If it had not have been for the issue with the pie then this meal would have been almost perfect, in that the staff were lovely, the restaurant was clean and in a good state of decoration, and the service was first rate. My only other comment would be that the prices were a tad dearer than around my home city of Leicester, but not unusual for a country inn.
