Well, what a surprise this place turned out to be! I tend to think that when eateries have a prime spot, like this one does on the promenade, they don’t bother trying to please but that’s not the case here. We had two perfectly made lattes, which were nicely hot and just the right strength. After my friend decided to have a cashew nut slice, I ordered a Greek salad (£6) and it was excellent. The drinks and food came to £15.60 which was more than reasonable for the quality. The place was really clean and it was reassuring to see a member of staff constantly wiping the counter top and tables whilst we were there. Top marks!

This venue is in an excellent place on the promenade and used to sell very good value fish and chips. However this year the produce appeared to be frozen with tasteless chips and dark fish which was all batter. At £8 for a fish this is terrible value.

I'm usually a bit skeptical of seafront kiosk-type places but it was a very busy day, lots of folks out and about enjoying the sun, and many were sitting at Prom Diner with platefuls of scran so I thought I'd give them a go while I was exploring the town. I didn't much fancy diving for a table particularly as I was on my own, so I opted to take my fish n' chips away, and find a nearby bench at risk of attracting pigeons and seagulls (easy to do in Aber). The lady at the till was happy to take my order in Welsh, so if anyone's here for the Cwrs Dwys or looking for somewhere to practise transactions yn y Gymraeg, this is a good place to try. I was given a small device (size of a car key fob) that buzzes and bleeps when your order's ready for collection - more places need to adopt this method! The food was tasty, fish was very hot with crisp batter and the chips weren't too shabby either (I left the lemon, but if that's your thing there's a good wedge of it put in with your meal). There's plenty of seating outside of the diner area so you won't be stuck for somewhere to perch. Speaking of perching, I nor anyone else were divebombed by any pigeons and even the seagulls kept their distance! Only thing of note is that they're a bit pricier than I'd have usually thought - it was around a tenner for a small fish n' chips. If you're feeding a clan you might want to look elsewhere but it's not a complaint from me, just an observation. Prom Diner is an open-air cafe rather than a takeaway stand, fish isn't cheap, and the service was efficient and friendly. I'd happily visit again!

Saw on the website that they serve Gluten Free fiush and chips so stopped there on way back from the Osprey Projects.Managed to park nearby and had 2 fish and chips, one being Gluten Free.Very cheerful chatty staff .Fish was in crispy batter and the chips still had the potato skin on them, delicious.A lot cheaper than some other places around. They do have seating at tables undercover and you are right next to the sea and its all on the flat with wheelchair access. We moved the car further down the prom and ate the food.Highly recommended.

I ordered fish and chips. The quality of the fish was very disappointing - more batter than fish. In fact the amount of actual fish was very small. The chips (clearly from frozen with the peel still on many of then) was certainly no better.

Actually, what is htis place called now? I thought PD had sold it to new people. It is taking far too long to be served just to buy an ice cream cone. People in front buying sundaes seem to be the problem. Can the establishment not sort this out, streamline the sundae process or get another staff member onto it or something? It is not worth a long wait just for one ice cream. I won't bother in future. There is plenty more ice cream nearby.

Picked this place for breakfast because of the location and the simple but interesting breakfast roll menu. What we had was a big disappointment, especially for the price we paid. My son and I had a breakfast roll, his sausage and bacon and mine sausage and hash brown. Given that this is a very agricultural part of the world and every village seems to have its own butcher offering good quality meat, bacon and sausages, this wasn't reflected in what was brought to us. The bacon was of the type sold in packs of 50 slices in cash and carries, and the sausage - well, let's call it for what it was - a jelly-like 'meat-tube' of the type found in greasy spoons up and down the country - foul. My hash brown had obviously been deep fried and was greasy and very unpalatable. My and my wife's flat white, though tasty, was very small indeed. The one upside was my daughter ordered salmon and cream cheese on a gluten-free roll. The chap serving felt the roll was too small so he gave her two. If this was an indication of the other food they served, I'd avoid.

PD's has been serving the best quality fish and chips for years but, on our visit yesterday, we noticed that the signage has changed from the black "PD's" to a light blue "Prom Diner". Sadly, that wasn't the only change..... the fish portion was small and encrusted in a mass of batter and, whilst the skin-on fries were good, this wasn't the hand-sized piece of lightly-battered fresh fish with proper chips that we've enjoyed many, many times before. The cutlery was cheap aluminium and the meal was served in a cardboard box! They'll be fine because there's little competition and their position on the promenade is perfect but PD's used to serve quality food at an excellent price on proper plates with good cutlery. What used to be a treat by the seaside (even on a grey, wet day like yesterday) has turned into a disappointing, cheap chippy and I'm afraid we won't be back.

Confused with the table system as thought that we needed to be served before getting a seat. It was very busy with most tables taken. They were cleaning the tables after every customer which was great to see however I felt as though the floor could have done with a brush at times when waiting to clear the tables. The guy (possibly owner) was quick to help find us a table and pointed out dog water bowls for my two. We had fish and chips and a tuna baguette. The food was great but the coffee was a little cold. My partner did was a beer but as there were no tables free when we placed the order he was unable to have one. The food was very nice and the location was great for taking in the atmosphere. Towards the south end of the prom there is also a mini PD’s where you can get a nice ice cream. Definitely worth a visit.

I've often visited Pd's to grab a coffee or ice cream whenever me and my family have visited the sea front. Have always been happy with the service and drinks/snacks. However, last Sunday we visited to buy an ice cream and I could see that the 2 employees handling the ice creams were not wearing gloves. 1 of them was dealing with change from various customers, but carried on serving ice cream without washing her hands. And the other passed us our ice creams holding the cone with his bear hands, no napkin or gloves, and I could even see a small cut on his finger which looked rather sore. Gloves should always be worn when handling food, and hand washing is a must when dealing with change. But especially now during this pandemic. I hope that this was just a mistake as we'd still love to support this local business!

We have had a lovely holiday in Aberystwyth and our visit to pds diner helped us enjoy the glorious weather even more, it is a brilliant place to sit and enjoy the outstanding views. We were sat on the beach when we were in the modd for an ice cream so we decided to try find somewhere to go and after immediately seeing pds diner we knew where to go i was served by a young boy who seemed to know exactly what we wanted before we had even seen the flavours he was very polite and the ice creams we had were glorious. However as we left my youngest dropped his bubblegum ice cream and the young man insisted on making us another one for free and would not accept my money. We then came back to pds diner at around 5pm to have 3 pizzas and a few drinks we asked of we could have the parasol raised so our children wouldn't get sunburnt and the same young man was out like a shot and raised it no questions asked the owners were also very hospitable and asked if there was anything else they could do for us, we decided to stay very late into the day to see the beautiful sunset and we had some alcoholic drinks which were very well priced and we then sat there and just waited till they closed and they did not seem like they wanted to kick us out at all they were great and the onlu problem seemed to be with some lack of intrest with a couple female members of staff, i then thanked the young boy who had been great throughout the day and he refused my tip as he stacked tables and made me put it in the shared tip cup. Excellent service by most, great owners and the food was excellent

Good coffee and a nice breakfast sandwich. Not the cheapest but ok value for the quality of food and drink. Best thing is they open nice and early on a Sunday compared to other and it's got a good view.

Visited this establishment 4 times over a week. We can recommend the tuna baguette, chocolate milkshake and latte coffee. The location is just perfect on the seafront itself. The staff are efficient rather than friendly. Dogs are allowed was really helpful. I will return again.

Enjoying our holiday in Aberystwyth until we came across PD’s Diner on the seafront. Our first visit was for drinks only but the staff did not want to help in any way..8 drinks...Do you have anything to carry them with No,I can’t reach was the answer from a very surly young girl. The second visit was to eat and as we had been in the sun all day we asked for a parasol to be raised for some shade. No we’ve been waiting for the sun too long was the answer. We had to walk away and find some shade elsewhere and 3 of our party returned to find the parasol raised. On mentioning this we were told..Other people have asked since you. We had intended to have our evening meal here, but we settled for a drink and went somewhere more welcoming.I did notice that the ignorance was not just confined to our party and other people were surprised at the rude staff with, everything is too much trouble attitude.I would not recommend this establishment to anyone as I feel that the staff are all in need of training in customer service. I feel that if this don’t care attitude doesn’t change it will be a major factor in whether or not the company sinks or swims. This review is solely for the PD’sDiner on the seafront. The staff in PD’s ice cream hut near the castle are totally the opposite,ie friendly warm and very obliging. So to sum up.Dont bother with PD’s Diner on the esplanade where the staff are all RUDE RUDE RUDE. very disappointed.

The location is superb with a nice view over the beach. I had a latte and the best fruitcake I have had in years. Moist, freshly made and full of fruit. Yum. The service was quick and polite.

On the promenade, sea views, serves alcohol, ice cream, and an extensive food menu. Perfect location. Lots of seating. Why go anywhere else?

We visit here all the time!!! The owners are so friendly and very accommodating. The food is amazing, very reasonable prices and very tasty. You really can't find a better place on the seafront of Aberystwyth to spend time relaxing and watching the world go by, people watching ! A definite place to go when visiting Aberystwyth!!

Lovely place to eat, right by the sea. I ordered a portion of chips that were so amazingly bland it was almost an experience in itself. They were a total black hole of flavour that managed to suck in anything that might of been good about the rest of the meal and replace it with empty disappointment. Even water tastes like something, I have no idea how they managed to achieve it but these chips really tasted like the deepest, darkest void of space.

We stopped here as we finally found something vegetarian. No veggie burgers on offer or veggie hot dogs which in this day & age is rather strange.

Visited Aber on Easter weekend when the weather was fab and really fancied getting some chips and eating them on the seafront. Then we came across PDs diner, it was perfect. Being able to sit outside and eat our chips at a table and watch the world go by. Brilliant location. Food was decent quality. Prices not bad at all. We liked it so much we had lunch there twice during the one weekend. Highly recommend.

A huge thank you to the staff of PD’s Diner this week. Always a wonderful place to sit and watch the World go by and the kids adore the ice creams. My daughter lost her coat and not only did the staff find it the next day but they are posting it direct to us in Bristol. Diolch yn fawr. Da iawn!

What more could you want on a cold Spring afternoon than to really confuse your teeth by giving them beautiful strong coffee with a side of deliciously creamy (dairy free and sorbet available) ice cream.

Week away with my wife and almost 2 year old son and we absolutely loved it. So much so we came here every day for a snack and drink. We were extremely lucky with the weather as it was as good as it could be for March. Stunning patio area right on the beach front, lovely food and reasonable price but most importantly friendly and welcoming staff and owners. I hope to return again one day!

We went to Aberystwyth for the day and whilst walking along the seafront we decided it was time for lunch, and decided to stop here, the food is cooked fresh and you might have to wait about 10 minutes for your order when it is busy but it is well worth it as the food is very good, and the staff are very friendly as well. We will eat there again next time we are in the area. As this is an outdoor cafeteria I would recommend sitting under the Awnings as the seagulls are not to fussy who they target.

This is a lovely place to sit outside and watch the world go by. We only had coffee and cakes but they were lovely and what we saw of other people’s meals being brought out looked delicous. Very reasonable and friendly and efficient staff.

We only bought chips to take away but they were decent enough chips and went down a treat. We were also surprised at how easy it was to park on the nearby promenade but maybe we were just lucky.

Quite simply the worst food in living memory. Paid £28 pound for a mixed grill and they forgot the steak and the egg, also no steak knife. Had to eat it as I hadn’t eaten all day.

Went there for Sunday carvery, what a great spread. There is all the variety would expect and all were cooked to an excellent standard. It is possible to go back for seconds should you wish. Great value as well for 2 or 3 courses (3 would be too much for most) On top of this the view is spectacular and the service is professional. Will be returning.
