Great place , butter fried chicken is on point 💥

We came to Aberystwyth University yesterday to attend our daughters applicant day .After we had a fantastic experience with everyone at the Aberystwyth University then we headed down into the town for some food .We had seen some excellent reviews for this place and we decided to eat here. We were not disappointed. Food was good ,potentially better food than say Witherspoons .But we would definitely go here again.

Harrissa Chicken flatbread - old, cold and dry. Difficult to cut, chicken was burned and dry, covered in sauce, inedible....

Pint in the garden. Lovely staff.

Excellent food & value for money. Staff dealt with a noisy dog situation very professionally & diplomatically. Will definitely be back.

Was great to have a substantial GF menu with dairy free options. I was sitting outside but the weather changed so I started inside on the tall tables. Next time I will sit through in the restaurant area to avoid the drinkers in the bar area. I went at 3.3pm on a Sunday. The service was good but I wasnt asked if I wanted any sauces and there was no check back on the food (it was relatively quiet). Luckily i managed without sauces and the food was ok. Will be going again to try the Tapas options. I had the cheese and bacon burger with vegan cheese and the torte for dessert.

Convenient location due to its proximity to Aberystwyth station. Possibility to order directly from the table via web application. Very extensive menu, spanning many types of cuisine, prices a little above average, very nice place. Very friendly staff.

Very atmospherically decorated place, nice staff. Recommendable! We did not eat, but are looking forward to come again and do so.

Excellent breakfast brunch. All five of the group had an excellent dish.

I've been here a few times now but never left a review before. We went three days ago. We were greeted by a really lovely, smiley young lady who advised where we could sit. I had the vegan carribbean cauliflower curry. This was one of the nicest meals I've ever tasted, it was absolutely stunning. Athro has such a warm inviting atmosphere. I love it. Well done Athro.

We had lunch here last weekend. However, upon leaving the restaurant, I realised that my Bang Bang Chicken was missing several ingredients, specifically tenderstem broccoli, pak choi and sugar snap peas – all the greens! I was wondering why the plate looked so bare, but didn’t think much of it and ended up ordering more dishes due to the lack of food. I reached out to the restaurant afterwards to express my disappointment but received no acknowledgment or apology, which is bad form. Oh well, at least the food we did receive tasted good.

Lovely meal and afternoon out with family.

A lovely eatery with good prices! Great deals on cocktails (2 for £12 or so) at set times of the week. Highly recommend the cherry Bakewell and the strawberry smash. I had the cowboy smash burger with sweet potato fries and hash browns, my partner had the lounge burger with normal fries. We shared sides of garlic ciabatta and onion rings. The bill was £52, not bad for a nice meal! The sweet potato fries were so crunchy and deliciously soft inside, the burger was to die for, so many flavours! Highly recommended!

The staff were really friendly, attentive and helpful. The food choice is fab, high quality, tasty. The atmosphere is ace and the building and how they've done it up is just lovely. Really recommend it, just a lovely experience, thank you.

Usually really enjoy a 'Lounge' and this one is in a lovely building but the pricing is more London than Aberystwyth 😅

The staff are so very helpful and friendly here. Had the aburgine and hummus flat beard, absolutely delicious, topped with crispy chickpeas. Very good gluten free menu for my very allergic son. Great coffee too.

Had a delicious plate of pulled chicken with fried potatoes truffle and mushroom sause with tender stem broccoli 🥦 tasted amazing. Dog 🐕 friendly, really relaxed atmosphere would recommend. X

Enjoyed a very special occasion here last night. The food and service was excellent. A big 'thankyou' to the staff. You done a wonderful job of setting us us up and serving us all in a timely manner. The food was excellent.

Staff were brilliant. Food was delicious. Served quickly and to our small group altogether. There wasnt an accessible table for my disabled mum so she had to struggle up 2 steps. (We did try to book a table in advance and our group of 5 was too small for advanced bookings) This also meant my mum did not have access to a toilet very easily either. Our lovely evening did come to an abrupt halt by an obnoxious woman shouting at our kids that they shouldn't be opening the door so my mum could get out of the building in a wheelchair, despite being shown the access door by staff. Absolutely unnecessary, hopefully she'll never have to be in a wheelchair. Would I go back? Yeah. The food is too good to resist. An ability to prebook for wheelchair users, however small the group, really would have helped our group throughout the evening.

A very interesting eating experience in a former school building. Well worth a visit to experience the quirky decor, and the food is fabulous with a selection to suit most peoples desires. This is part of a chain, so we intend to try other venues to see if they come up to the same standard. Thoroughly recommend a visit 👌

Not the best seating for actually eating food, we sat on the low couches, but the food and service was excellent. Would recommend going just tapas on this one, portion sizes on everything else can be a bit overwhelming.

Incredibly Great Manager!Left a bag with two shirts that I had bought that day in the restaurant and drove back to Essex where I’m from. When I realised this I called the restaurant and Adam the manger was kind enough to offer to mail them to where I live. Absolute diamond!

Great Find… placed next to the Railway Station. Welcoming staff and nice atmosphere. Easy to order your food and drinks from your table using the QR Code. Drinks arrived quickly. Ordered the food and was quickly delivered to the table. Ordered the 3 Tapas plates and a Chimichurri Brisket Burger. Everything was to a good standard.

Brilliant meal yesterday evening. Really can’t fault the staff, they’re amazing. Food was great especially the tapas and the option for soya milk in the milkshakes was a bonus. Can’t wait to visit again. The vibes are amazing.

Very tasty meal at a good price.

We came here twice and had great meals each time with very friendly staff. We came in Wednesday the second time which is quiz night so be prepared for noise and crowds. Many of Aberystwyth’s cafes and restaurants close early or open late so it was good to find somewhere that is open all day!

We were a table of 19 work and ex work colleagues from all over Wales and beyond, celebrating two retirements, eating everything from beetroot & feta flatbread (mine - absolutely delicious!), to tapas, goan curry, buttermilk chicken, vegetarian dishes, side orders and a few desserts. (Thanks for the candles on the delicious brownie!) No complaints from anyone and the atmosphere was fab! Staff and Manager were brilliant and couldn't have done any more for us all. Thank you for a great evening, we all had a brilliant night!

We had a working lunch at Athro Lounge. There was a lovely atmosphere where families, couples and people working could enjoy their time. The menu was extensive and varied with separate gluten free and vegan menus. I had the halloumi burger, fries and the chocolate sundae. All were delicious and served very quickly by friendly staff. I look forward to returning the next time I visit Aberystwyth.

Very much like the other Lounge spaces around the country.

A chain with good options for all food preferences.

Had the calamari and the meatballs as part of the three platter deal. Would highly recommend both and would've gladly had either as part of a main , but sadly, they're not offered.

Another excellent branch of The Lounges chain. Very busy on a Sunday evening but we were accommodated after a short wait in the bar area. We ordered via the website and our food was brought to our table promptly. We all enjoyed our meals. The venue is dog friendly.

Not too sure why all of the tables are reserved. Just let the customers sit where they like please. Lovely place to go and enjoy a chat with friends or colleagues.

Good food / service and atmosphere. The only thing this establishment and many others need to change is covering the food with black pepper seasoning. This should be a customer choice especially paying high end prices

Such a great restaurant! We visited twice while in Mid Wales. Delicious breakfasts. The mac and cheese is a masterpiece of cheesy pasta. Great coffee too. Staff is attentive and friendly. They don't try to rush you out even when it's packed. A great dining experience.

UPDATE: They do have real Coke, it’s on the meno as “icon cola” for reasons unknown! Also, they are able to serve any dish (more or less), without chilli, so now I’ve worked my way through more of the menu. All excellent so far! We eat here once every couple of months. Really good service and staff are always nice. Too much of the menu has chilli in for me (I’m intolerant), so there’s only a few basic dishes I can have. They do a good range of tapas on the menu, it looks nice but I can’t speak to what most of it tastes like, sadly (chilli!). The range of desserts is good, lots of different cakes too. Don’t expect branded soft drinks though, which is annoying for my Autistic son. Good disabled bathroom.

Looks a lovely place, the decor is interesting and the menu sounds really good but we only had a drink which we ordered from our phone my husband's coffee was ok but I had a pot of tea which had got a really weird taste I thought it was me so my husband tasted it and he drew back as I had saying it tasted strange, he was going to take it back but I couldn't be bothered as we were going somewhere. However the staff did seem really pleasant

Whilst the food was good, they got the food order wrong for all 3 of us?l! 2 chicken broths turned out to be 2 curried parsnip soup. Instead of lamb flatbread, we were given the falafel shortbread. All very nice, but not what was ordered.

Fantastic building. Came for brunch. Food was generously portioned, but not especially hot. Poached eggs were less runny than I'd prefer. Came back later in the day for lunch. Place was bustling and we preferred this food over brunch (burger, flatbread and a very good value tapas)

..too much noise, negative acoustics.. ..just a personal dislike.. ..however the service and food, drinks were excellent..thankyou.. ..may return and find a quieter seat.. 🙂

Enjoyed the food and the service was good. A little pricey. A bottle of ginger beer was around £4. Mocha's simular. But as billed it's a nice lounge feel. Three meals came to £52.

December 14th After many visits with superb food and service, the portion size seems to have shrunk? Cost saving? Taking our Gluten intolerant daughter out for a meal is usually a nightmare but we were pleasantly surprised with the commendable staff attention to intolerances displayed here, they asked when we entered and double checked when we ordered. Not only that but there was a wide choice on the GF menu, the food was excellent and the staff superb. We will return soon.

Good food but only 3 stars as the portions are pretty small and stingy, so don't go hungry! I remember the portions previously were adequate but it seems they're trying to reduce costs.

Very expensive for portion size. I ordered a Coconut and Pineapple punch, it got given to someone else by accident and wasn't replace, AND 3/4 of it was ice, it cost me £6.25 bare in mind this was a NON-ALCOHOLIC OPTION. Will never go back

Incredible food it's always stand out. With very Accommodating staff who are incredibly friendly and even though we arrived 10 mins before the kitchen closed we both got lovely mains , great drinks and my partner got a lovely sticky toffee pudding.

Ate there today for the first time and wished I had been sooner, excellent food at very fair prices, and the gluten free menu must be the best in the area. Will be visiting there again soon

Have been to a few Lounges across the country and this is definitely one of my new favourites. Walked in with a group of 5 on a busy Friday morning and I mean it was busy! had to wait for a table, but the person who spoke to us was lovely. I think she may have been the manager, happy girl black hair. never got her name. Only a few minutes later and we were seated. Went to the bar and we were greeted by a lovely jubilant man with a black beard and swooped back hair, he was great fun to speak to at the bar very polite and very good to speak to, we went back up to the bar every time to order drinks and some more food as our friend joined us, just to speak to him. Food was great as ever and we even got a goodbye and a joke from the him as we were leaving. Went back again today about lunchtime, as busy as yesterday same man was there again , and he remembered us. had to wait again for a table bur again the service was excellent. would also like to highlight the lovely young lady, short lady fair hair who brought our food to us today. she was very polite and when we said that we had asked for a alteration, it was dealt with within seconds. Literally hadn't started to eat before she came back with the correct order of sweet potato fries. I work in a similar place, I know the value of reviews and honestly cant say enough about the two people at Athro !

Lovely restaurant with great decor. Nice to see an old school building resurrected and full of life. Food was delicious and good value. Friendly service but a bonus that it's dog friendly. Will be back!

Nice eatery. But would prefer just to pick up my own drinks at the bar when you pay. If busy waiting for your drink can take some time and I don't like it the starters Co.e before the wine! But decent seating and very friendly staff who made our evening great.

Great restaurant with good varied menu. As you have to order by app I've given 3 for service but staff are friendly and efficient.

Our group 7 were seven were seated immediately. We ordered via the ap and were served in a timely manner. The dishes were all great. (Sorry I forgot to take pics.)

Really beautifully decorated and furnished restaurant in an old school building, high ceilings, different sections with different vibes 😊 Food was delicious and portions just right, not the massive excess that many restaurants go for, which is wasteful and off-putting, just good portions of good quality, well-prepared and well-presented food. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful 👏👏👏😊

Really nice place for either a quick coffee or a full meal. Does a lovely breakfast and has lots of gluten free options as well as veggie options. Pretty much always has seating available, and you can order using the qr code on your table, which makes it so quick and easy. But more than anything, I love the decor and feeling this place has. Also has outside seating which is great in summer.

Good food, very tasty, smallish portions. Friendly staff, service is a star down as you order via an app… nice string and decent draught lager.

Nothing wrong with this place, its just average. Portion sizes are small but adequate, not much choice of ales, prices are not expensive but not cheap either. Its just average. It does seem popular and has plenty of space and comfy sofas.

Lovely welcoming setting for a casual meal. The restaurant was busy and as a result the meal took longer than the 25 minutes indication when we arrived.The menu is interesting and a good vegetarian selection. The tapas when it arrived were tasty but it is worth noting that the plates are on the small side.The disappointment was that the sweet potato fries were at best luke warm.When the waitress asked us about the food as we were finishing the meal we confirmed that the food was fine save for the cold sweet potato fries.

The staff were lovely. It was packed and we only had to wait 10 mins for a table. The decor is really thought out and lovely. The toilets were lovely and clean. Food was amazing everyone in my party of 5 throughly enjoyed it. Mu parents had the tapas, “brilliant Flavour just wish there was more of it for the price”.

I ordered a feta beetroot and chickpea flatbread which arrived without the chickpeas. When I asked for some, I was told that they had run out but were cooking more - but they wouldn't be ready in time for me. No apology but I did get a shrug. Not a disaster but a little irritating. When the plates were collected I was asked if my meal was alright and I said that it was, but it would have been better had it been complete. "Great - no worries" came the reply. Perhaps it was just an off day ....

So, I took my fiance out to have her first tapas. She wasn't feeling great, but left with a big smile. Thank you for making the day memorable

A great place to go for a nice meal with friends as they cater for all tastes. Could do with more staff on the bar as they were inundated with cocktail orders. We were lucky enough to visit on quiz night, so that was great fun. Love the building and the amazing decor. The staff were all lovely and the food was delicious.

Enjoyable food and drinks, nice place to go with a group of people. Great range of food, and really good that there is a gluten free menu which is as extensive. Order and pay via the QR code or at the bar. Sometimes the quality is a little lacking e.g. when your chicken burger which is supposed to have avocado on it has a 3cm piece of avocado.

Literally the best resturant in aberystwyth. Great atmosphere, easy ordering with the website to come to the table, or you can go to the bar. Good range of food but great quality. Accessible. Lovely staff.

The food here is superb, prepared by a chef. Very friendly service. Dogs are allowed in too. Can be loud during lunch times as the space inside is large.

Friendly staff. Nice that they have separate vegetarian and gluten free menus. We had a great time. whipped feta with honey was nice. My partner liked his hummus dish. My pulled pork chili was really tasty but my little complaint is the small portion size. There was one big pulled pork piece and a tiny one.

I'm writing this after just finishing our food on a really wet and windy day on our Wales trip, we visited Aberystwyth and need some food after our drive through the mountains.... Anyway place is really nice, friendly staff, prompt service, we ordered 6 tapas + Garlic flatbread and two drinks £36.00 it came to our table within 10 mins of ordering, hot and really tasty, It was all very good but we both really liked the honey whipped feta with flat bread. You can order at your table (qr code) or the bar....Anyway if your inAberystwyth stop by for some good food.

I must admit, the two previous visits left me thinking I would not go back. However, I was asked to meet with friends and this time it was much better. I would go back now
