Waited 45 minutes for food and really wished we hadn’t bothered. My husband had mixed grill which is the photographs below. The black thing is supposedly steak, the mash was the consistency of rubber and the chicken was cold. Will NEVER eat here again

I have been a supporter of Vincent Davies for a very long time, however, on visiting today I found that there is a charge of 39p if you want an alternative milk, you are never told or asked if you want to pay this extra that choice should be yours but Vincent Davies take it upon themselves to not ask but assume that you want to pay it when you think that you are paying nearly a third of a carton only get two cups of tea and have to waste the rest, sorry Vincent Davies you are not what I thought you were

Had a lovely presented and very tasty Sunday lunch. However the plates were cold and the meal went cold very quickly. Compliments to the very pleasant staff

So pleased with everything about our time here. Our table of twenty had been very thoughtfully laid out. Ian was very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent quality, came out fresh and quickly, and was great value.

Staff very pleasant : good pretty bad . Vegetable soup tasted like nothing at all , it was so bland , like baby food . My dad’s BLT sandwich was sadly inedible . Chips stone cold . Won’t bother again .

This woman is not the ideal person to run a business, she ignored me the first time I went in as she was on the phone to a bank, then the next time I came back an hour later she was so flus=stered she spoke to me like I was not wanted in there ...... this is the 4th time I have tried to visit this cafe and she has been rude every time , the post office is dirty and needs a complete re-fit - awful and I would never go back

Don’t be put off by the smell of cat spray on the way in!!! I was a bit dubious but the food was good. It looked average when it came out, everything in pots, chips, peas, rice (why?) but good portions. It looked deep fried and a bit over cooked but everyone agreed it all tasted good. Very friendly to dogs and a resident dog and at least a couple of cats. I think the land lady / manager could look stern, but I think she was just checking everything was ok and when I chatted to her she warmed up and was friendly. We will be back!

We called in for a drink and a Pudding with the Dog. A lovely rocky road sundae made by Alice. All made to feel very welcome.

Me and a group of friends ate last night and had really nice food, having the pie of the day which was chicken and mushroom. The atmosphere inside was also nice and quiet and allowed us to have a conversation between each other. I was left disappointed after our main meals we were left waiting for someone to take our desert orders. When I questioned the bar staff if someone was going to, we were informed the kitchen was closed at 8:30. No one mentioned this to us when taking our mains order if we would like to take deserts so we could have them due to the kitchen closing early. I did ask if it was possible to have any and replied with kitchen is closed. (Used to work as a chef so even when kitchen was closed deserts were normally able to be made) I felt we would have had a few more drinks and with deserts so would of spent more money, I dont normally write reviews however wasn't happy when I left, we were overlooked due to a wedding going on.

Visited this pub while on a solo break away with my dog a couple of weeks ago and it was a fantastic atmosphere, great service, lovely food and I have to give the highest praise to the lady (who I think was a manager or supervisor) (gutted I didn’t catch her name) but she was so friendly and welcoming, she made a fuss of my dog even giving her some doggie treats which went down (a treat) 😆would definitely recommend this place and will be sure to visit again next time I’m passing!!

So disappointed! This used to be a lovely place to go for a meal. It now is not. The selection of cakes poor, the hot food looked disgusting and so I settled for a cold drink from the fridge and a cheese toasty. The fridge smelt musty and there was mould on the seals. It was in a can so felt would be safe to drink non the less. Ordered and was offered a glass for my drink. A nice touch I thought. I sat down to be surrounded by dirty tables which needed clearing. The glass I was given was filthy and so put to one side. On waiting for my lunch a look around reveals dirty walls, greasy pictures (for sale!!! Yuk!!!! How long have they been there????) and not a pleasant place to be at all. Lunch arrived. Limp lettuce, limp cucumber (just one piece!) and a tiny bit of tomato. The coleslaw too look sub standard and sad. The toasty edible but boring without the accompaniments I pushed to one side for fear of food poisoning. How this place has a 5 star food hygiene rating I’m not quite sure. The staff pleasant and not miserable as per previous posts but did lack a little charisma maybe. All in all a quite unpleasant lunch and incredibly disappointing. The place needs some tlc and perhaps stop relying on the older generation and coach parties who may not even notice these things. Will certainly not be returning.

What a brilliant cafe in a great location. Much better quality building and food then I expected to find. Views and walk are also great.

Awful - avoid at ALL cost! Came for a drink here and decided to stay for a meal in the restaurant. Mistake number 1. 5 of us seemed to be an issue in a half empty restaurant. My sister ordered a mushroom ravioli for starter(from the vegetarian menu) they then came back to stay they had swapped the mushroom ravioli for LAMB RAGU. FOR A VEGETARIAN. Starters took 40 mins to arrive, one didn’t arrive with the other 4 (my mum being polite told us to eat ours whilst she waited for hers) I was done with mine before my mums arrived, no apology for the wait. Then took a while to clear our starters and a further wait for our mains. If it wasn’t bad so far… it gets worse. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table which the bartender brought over, poured our wine and then left them on the other end of the table (5 of us on a table for 8) Mains arrived; fish and chips, a mountain of over cooked poor quality frozen chips. Chicken and chips, again shop bought chips and burnt dry chicken. And the worst of all; the mushroom tagliatelle, inedible. Disgustingly oily and overpowering herby. Priced at £17.99 but then an additional £8 for 3 slices of dry chicken. No check backs on the food and no one came to offer desserts, not that we would have had them, we would however have asked for the bill to the table. No we had to find the manager who told us we’d have to go over to the till if we wanted to pay the bill. The hotel itself is run down and tired looking. Toilets weren’t pleasant. Definitely not 4 start. Overall, poor service and poor food in a dated setting with a high price tag. Avoid

We had lunch on a Wednesday, both of us having Baked Potatoes, one with Beans & Cheese, the other with Coronation Chicken, followed by Cherry Pie & Custard with Coffee. It was delicious & the potatoes were beautifully cooked. The staff were attentive & efficient. This is a lovely place for lunch - Highly recommended.
