We were passing through as the beach was one of the best in the area. The pub is clearly designed for holiday makers as there was a row of fruit machines and childrens toy machines akin to an amusement arcade. We ordered two pints of Peroni and a packet of crisps and the bill was £12.30. The last time I paid £5.65 for a beer was at a Gatwick hotel. The menu was basic but again top money . Lasagne , chips and salad £13.50 . Typically a ten pound meal. The garden was tired and clearly not been the focus in terms of improvement during lockdown. There was some building work going on above the pub . My approach would be to make the customer areas strong as a welcome back.

We stopped here looking for a light lunch on a miserable rainy day . The pub was very covid safe thanks to the very conscientious staff .The menu is quite limited as most are and although we were looking for a light lunch my husband chose fish & chips which was a huge portion , beautiful fresh fish . I chose ginger and lime fishcakes which were very nice . The pub is dog friendly .It felt quite chilly but I think this was because the day before it was gloriously sunny . Overall not bad for a simple pub meal .

We arrived for a 3 night stay, greeted by a lady who told us we'd only booked the room for one, then accused us of changing the booking online when she realised that it said 2 people.Having booked a family room, we were shown to a double room that had ripped curtains. The lady stated that they had new curtains but hadn't put them up yet, asking if we could put up with it for the duration of our stay. When we questioned the fact that we weren't in a family room, we were told that the room wasn't ready. We agreed to go elsewhere for an hour so that the room would be ready when we got back.We had dinner here on the first night, which was a little disappointing. We ordered our food at the bar, and the barman walked off straight after we'd told him our order, without acknowedging what we'd said or waiting for our drinks order. When the food arrived, the battered fish was split in half, but we were told 'it will still taste the same'. The next morning, we had a lovely cooked breakfast and found out that the bar had flooded. All in all, every time something else happened, we just had to laugh. Definitely not worth the £125 per night.

No complaints here: stayed 2 nights, eating hearty meals, being generally warm and comfortable, amid friendly staff and regulars. Oh, and singing, too... an unexpected bonus.True, this place hasn't joined the artisan sourdough movement yet. You will not be laying your head to rest on a sustainable pillow made of recycled jute, nor dining on a sausage made ethically up the road by a website designer who has 'returned to his Welsh farming roots' (ie, discovered a great great grandfather from Merthyr who once had a pig), nor receive your eight-quid shot of small batch gin with a little handwritten thankyou note and some instructions about how to enjoy it, authentically. If you're after that, there are plenty of places you can find it, and I'd say it's pretty clear from a very small bit of prior research what you'll get, and what you won't.I'd call this a comfy bolthole for a few nights, amid beautiful country. Many thanks for my stay.

Poor quality food only exceeded by even worse service. Beer battered fish was late (we think they forgot the order), dry and tasteless - and nowhere near worth the price being charged. The service from the waiting staff was fine but the woman behind the bar was probably the rudest we’ve ever met - off-hand, sarcastic and bad language to top it all off. Will never visit again. I have neither eaten nor drunk at this pub but I have experienced their "hospitality". Arrived at 2.20 on a Saturday afternoon hungry and thirsty after a long walk. Cheered by the blackboard outside which said food was served until 3 and another sign on the wall saying food served until 2.30. When we went in we were told that they had stopped serving. Apparently the reason was that it had been quiet. If that is their attitude to customer service, I am not surprised it is quiet. Don't let this stop you visiting this stunningly beautiful coastline but my advice is to bring a picnic if you want to be sure of something to eat.

A damp walk later we were welcomed to a warm pleasant bar area which was dog friendly. We both had the fish dishes which were delicious, generous and reasonably priced. The original sign had said food 12 until 3 and we were fortunate to be there for about 2, however, some people coming in after us were too late at 2.30 so it may be worth checking or err on the side of caution. Whilst the presentation of the main course was good, the fish dishes themselves were disappointing. Chips were fine, as was the sticky toffee pudding, which was the only pud available! The service was quick and friendly. However, £50+ for 2mains, a pudding and 2.5 pints seemed a bit much. Unfortunately, there really isn't really much choice in this area. Although there were specials on the chalk board we were told that these weren't available as it was out of season - perhaps the specials could have been rubbed off to avoid confusion. We went in for a quick lunch in the middle of a clifftop walk and the food available was enjoyable along with a decent pint too. The staff were really friendly and the service excellent. It's plenty big enough to take a dog friendly area inside. They are totally missing a trick here.Put a big chalk board outside 'dogs welcome' and watch the customers flood in. Crazy not to. My wife and I stopped for an evening meal after walking the coast path, we have stopped here a few times, particularly as it was dog friendly. I believe it has recently changed hands and dogs are no longer allowed in the pub only in the garden, which is a shame, this is Wales after all and rain is never that far away. I never expected great things from the meal and I was disappointed.... it wasn't even that good. Now I'm generally not picky but my starter (garlic mushrooms) was swimming in a very poor tepid sauce with a nice layer of orange grease on top. My wife had a nice piece of local murdered mackerel. The main was not much better and it wasn't cheap, I had a nuked lasagne with real chips (good er - no the potatoes were very bruised and they over cooked) my wife had the Bass (she likes fish or used too!) with the same chips and a very poor side salad. I would not eat here again in a hurry or recommend it to anyone. On a plus note the staff were friendly and the beer was cold, just like us!

We had dinner here twice during our recent stay in Marloes. The reason we did is because it was the only place open, though I think we would choose to go there again. We ate in the restaurant part because the pub/bar side was full and it was a pleasant place to sit. The woman who served us made the evening a very fun one. I believe she is one of the new owners so was very knowledgeable about the menu offerings, which were varied and all that we tried very good, but her fun personality made the night. I wish them the best and hope they are able to make a successful business of this nice little place.

we called here to see if it was suitable to stay at a future date. we had been told that it was under new management. It seems to have had some refurbishments and appears very clean. The toilets were spotless. A very good sign! We ordered bagettes for lunch and were impressed with the presentation. There was so much on the plate that we were too full for a sweet. Definitely will call again

We visited the Lobster Pot in Marloes a few times the last years. They are now under new management as a sign says. We gave it another try. The staff is friendly but does not give the impression of a lot of experience. The table we had was situated in the restaurant and was okay. The ales were good, the food also. Nothing very special but allright. The atmosphere in the restaurant was okay but not very romantic or special. The door to the kitchen was left open a few times which gave me view in the kitchen with all the stuff in there which was not romantic at all of course. Overall good enough for the money but nothing special.

We had called in to this pub after a long walk to quench our thirsts - good selection of ales and ciders. Unfortunately,it can't be called the most welcoming of pubs! However, we decided to give the restaurant a go the next evening. The service was good with time being taken to explain the dishes and the "specials". The meals were served hot although the quality served was variable. The fish and chips, gammon and chips were very good and tasty but their take on Beef Stroganov was to say the least interesting!!!!It's a shame I can't be more positive but the place has great potential and I wish them well!

This pub could be so much better. Give it to me for half a day to inject some atmosphere. Okay, the lighting is awful, the paint colour is cold, it is a nearly totally bare room. You need candles on the tables, some flowers, good paintings/ ornaments, nice curtains or blinds and a welcome. The bar staff seem terrified of everyone who enters, nervous, too quiet and very little smiling or conversation. I don't want a new best friend but come on put some effort into it. Chat about the village or Skomer or the coast or anything. I agree dogs should be allowed into the pub. There is a separate dining area for eating so it should not be a problem and quite honestly if I was trying to build a business I would invite just about anyone in. And that is the problem, this pub can't depend on the summer for its income. It needs to build on the regular visitors that come all year who have caravans in the locality and walk this area often. And it seems just so unbothered with establishing itself. I will give it until next year unless it puts some energy into its business plan. And that would be a great shame. The first thing for them to do is read the reviews and take them on board.

On our recent trip to Marloes we took a trip to the Lobster Pot for food. We are glad we did.We had scampi and chips and lasagne and chips, both meals were very well presented and great portion sizes and tasted just as good. We also went for desert, and I must say We were not disappointed. We both had the apple and berry crumble. It was just delicious. And it was also gluten free which is a big plus for me.The premises itself is very quant, proper tables to sit at for food and then couches to sit and enjoy a drink in. The toilets are are spotless and the staff are lovely.

My wife and I ate here in April, 2016.You have to love this restaurant. The people are honest and kind. The food was nice and plentiful. We left feeling we got value for our money. For those expecting fancy food and service, this isn't for you. If you want a genuine local experience and a nice meal, enjoy!

Waited 30 mins for our drinks (all two of them, both the same cider) to be brought to our table. Then waited another 30 minutes for the wildly overpriced food to arrive (steak at nearly £20 was cold; fish & chips at early a tenner was swimming in grease). (It wasn't even busy; there were maybe 5 other customers in there at the same time as us.)I had to go knock on the door to the kitchen to look for someone when we wanted to pay the bill, after wondering why there had been no one behind the bar for the past 15 minutes.

We visited on Mothers Day and the Sunday after as we were so impressed. It isn't a cheap carvery, its an exceptional home cooked Sunday roast with all the seasonal vegetables you could want - large wholesome portions. Everyone is friendly, a mix of locals with tourists...walkers etc. stopping by for a bite to eat. Its a credit to Sophie who you can see flying around & Ashley behind the bar always smiling. We'll be back.

I have reviewed this place before, mainly in support of the then Landlord, much criticised. But he has gone, a new regime is in place, with new front of house Sophie. , No old Grumps here, its a different place.Lunch in February is a shortened menu - soup, jackets, baguettes - but our lunch was very good. Cawl was full of both lamb and winter veg, a baguette packed with excellent back bacon and a generous side-salad. And at £6.50 each good value .This is what you expect in a small village pub, off season. So looks like a new era at the Pot . Good luck to all.

This pub is halfway on a circular walk promoted by nearby St Brides Castle, the Pembrokeshire home of the Holiday Property Bond. Apparently there is a new landlord who does not allow dogs. We were left to have our much needed drink in the cold drizzle outside and they were not serving food. We spoke to another couple who commiserated with us as they were leaving - they had visited this pub last year and had looked forward to going back; they were very disappointed that it had changed so much and was now so unwelcoming. I had waited outside with our cocker spaniel while my husband took off his muddy boots and approached the bar to ask if we could go in - it was a nasty day and we were all very muddy, so I understood the rejection, but the bar staff were miserable, verging on rude, and why not even a sandwich available?A soapbox moment: Nothing annoys me more than country pubs who rely on walkers yet ban dogs - they are increasingly being run by landlords who move in and decorate their rooms inappropriately for the location of their premises. They don't restrict children and yet the noise and mess other customers have to endure from spoilt toddlers and indulgent parents is unbelievable. Well behaved dogs are now the ones who are 'seen but not heard', something which no longer applies to children.

If you'd read any of the reviews you wouldn't visit The Lobster Pot, however I speak as I find! The landlord was welcoming and helpful. We arrived on a whim for lunch, we didn't want a full lunch just snack so the lunch menu was fine for us! What we had was plentiful and tasty? The pub was filling up as we were finishing lunch. Mixture of locals, walkers and tourists. We were close to the bar and to be honest saw the landlord treat everyone the same. We are not locals we live in Haverfordwest and we enjoyed our lunch very much! Will return! Nice to find a nice place for lunch open in a small village out of season! So many close down??

I agree with the reviewers who talk about the landlord being 'inhospitable'. After watching us approach the bar, he made sure he spent a good 5 minutes with his back to us, finishing reading his paper, before he deigned to serve us. We asked if he served food; he grunted no, without further elaboration. Turned his back. We drank our expensive ciders. Landlord watched us preparing to leave, then turned his back to us when we were about to say goodbye. Modern inside, no atmosphere; avoid. Seems they hate tourists.
