Decided to grab a bite to eat while in the market . My wife had corned beef pie chips n peas . The pie had very little corned beef in it .the peas where overcooked and discoloured.Myself had ham egg n chips .The ham was from a packet .very thin what I would call plastic ham .. egg was great nice n runny .the chips left a lot to be desired for ,not that special ...should have really sent the food back .... but will say that the food on the counter looked really nice. Will we eat in that particular car again .Nope not again ..very disappointing

Lovely meal for our anniversary. Food was lovely and staff very helpful. Gorgeous venue.

The reservation was made through Open Table. On arrival, they had not transferred our booking to their dining list so were not expecting us. We then had to wait for well over an hour before our food arrived. We had no proper apology for this. The food was excellent and the staff friendly. We have been to Langley Castle many times and have always had good service before.

Beautiful food, fantastic surrounding, we stayed in the castle so it was lovely to eat there as well, and to just walk back to our room after, we started in the drawing room with a drink while we browsed over the menu and was then taken to our table where we received a complementary amuse-Boucher . Followed by our starters & main. I had the Butternut squash soup with goats cheese which was amazing and then the chicken for my main. The only thing disappointing was that we had to pay extra to have the pudding that we wanted and they add on their own tip on to the bill. Other than that it was a lovely relaxed enjoyable evening.

The service was dreadful - really basic stuff like getting the order right or making sure everyone got a meal, filling people's glasses, asking if people wanted another drink before they took the glasses. I could go on ….as for the food the portion sizes are tiny, the duck was like leather, the lamb tasteless and the risotto like a bowl of green mush - I recommend you stay/dine somewhere else

I took my family from America here to have a fine dining experience in a castle . The castle itself is beautiful so set the scene. The first waiter we had was great, he was young, funny, helpful and really professional he made our night. However the older waiter we had gave me and my cousin the creeps ( sorry I don’t mean to offend ) he was like lurch of the adams Family , no sense of humour and he made us feel uncomfortable. He was very professional but he needs to lighten up a bit . The food was well presented and was to die for. Other than the creepy waiter we had a great time .

Good service, attentive without being in your face, very good food with plenty of locally sourced ingredients, a good and complementary wine list. Have a pre-dinner cocktail while you order, enjoy your meal and then repair back to the magnificent lounge for post dinner coffee and liqueurs. At £75-£80 per head including drinks and wine this is actually great value as well. Highly recommended!

We were very satisfied after our dinner at the castle. The service was formal and thorough. The gnocchi was delicious and especially the desserts. I thought the serving sizes were perfect for a 3 course meal. It was a once in a lifetime experience for my husband and I, who are from Australia.

We still talk about this evening! We loved the opportunity to experience this place.

i passed Langley Castle over a number of weeks travelling to from a local residential with work, i liked the appearance of the venue and with our anniversary coming up i booked for afternoon tea, both my wife and i were pleasantly surprised by the value and high quality. the staff were extremely pleasant and professional as well as welcoming, after our tea we walked around the lovely grounds. we will certainly be making a return visit in the future - absolutely 10/10

Last time we came to Langley Castle was nearly 3 years ago, and although the castle setting is lovely and the meal was really nice, we felt that the castle is not the same as it was. There has been a big turnover of staff none that we recognised from the previous years, and that although professional they weren't very warm or friendly as the previous staff were, more. like they had a job to do and were polite and courteous and that was it. The food was very nice, but felt the menu was somewhat limited in comparison to 3 years ago especially for a pregnant lady who is restricted in what I could have. Also the food used the have a bit of a twist to it which made it special and something you couldn't get anywhere else l, but now it seems it is much the same as you could get anywhere else (but a bit cheaper). Price did not reflect the service/food, it felt very much overpriced for the service and the food, again last time we visited (we have been a few times) the price although pretty much the same as it was not of a concern 3 years ago but now it feels that although a very nice meal, not as 'special' as it used to be which is what you're paying for. Lovely castle, nice food, professional staff but just doesn't have the same uniqueness and special feeling it once had. Perhaps if had been our first visit we would of enjoyed it more, but because we know what it used to be life (food/staff) we felt slightly disappointed with the overall experience. Sorry.

This was our second visit to Langley Castle, this time to celebrate our friends' wedding anniversary. As usual pre-dinner drinks (rhubarb gin cocktail highly recommended) were followed by dinner. Now what can I say! Scallops cooked to perfection, a great Veloute, seared Mackerel, then Fillet Steak and Chateaubriand superbly prepared and mouth-watering Hake, followed by puddings to die for. Drinks and coffee upstairs to round off the perfect evening. As usual the wine list has an excellent selection to complement your meal. Hate to mention money but a total bill of £330 for four people who left absolutely stuffed is the bargain of the century. It is fine dining at a mid range price. Where Langley Castle scores highest is attentive, friendly and quietly understated service. These are really nice people who make it more than just another restaurant, Can't wait for our next visit in June.

Excellent food from a varied menu in a quiet ambience in a beautiful castle setting. Service excellent. Duck was initially undercooked but immediately rectified with a complete fresh plate of food. Would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant for superb cuisine and service.

Stayed with my husband a couple of weeks earlier and so impressed brought a friend for Sunday lunch birthday treat. Served pre lunch drinks in drawing room upstairs by pleasant friendly staff where food order is also taken. Then escorted downstairs to fabulous dining room. All service is exceptional and food delicious very large portions of beef and pork. Totally love this beautiful castle will definitely return for more decadent delights. Afternoon tea next time.

A lovely afternoon and our first sampling of afternoon tea and we were not disappointed! The ‘Gentleman’s’ option is a melange of savouries including a mini cheeseburger with a pannacotta, eclair, sponge and fruit tart to follow. My wife had the traditional which was equally interesting.Delicious! Well done and thank you Team Langley!

Got married her 15yrs ago,went for our anniversary and it was fabulous as usual.if you are looking for something a bit differant then this is the place.You pay a bit more here for food but its worth it.It wont dissapoint

Nice place but the beef was so tough, very expensive for what you receive.

Upon arrival the staff were pleasant and helpful. We were shown to a table where we had to pick our meal and drink order, once our table was ready the staff the carried out drinks to the table which was a nice touch. food was OK for the price, however I found the potions far to small and went home hungry. My dates pudding (a tart) was burnt on the bottom. I had a cheese board which was a £12 supplement on the meal. This was tiny, came with nice little extras like chutney etc but it's wasn't worth it and not a nice selection on cheese either. when the bill arrived I luckily noticed that the bill was for a different table! My bill came to 120, but the original one they brought me was for 179. I judge a restaurant on whether I would return, unfortunately I would never go back again.

Great for a special occasion (birthday Sunday lunch in our case) a little let down by the service. Have given separate feedback re that.

One of our many visits to Langley Castle and once again it did not disappoint, the staff were kind and courteous and the food excellent. I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys good food and good service in stunning surroundings .

We had a wonderful stay at Langley Castle. It was everything we hoped for. Our room was very nice and we loved the alcove you can sit in an look out over the castle grounds. The evening meal was fantastic and the service was brilliant. We are looking forward to visiting again.

It continues to be a place offering escapism. It is quite different. Love the place. The service is always very good. The food changes with what they are pitching at. Currently it is not as "cheffy" as it was a year or so ago when there was more of a "tasting menu". But still very good. The filet steak element of the standard menu, was sublime. Yes we had a good birthday dinner.

We come from Switzerland and we were travelling from Scotland to the Borders an Northengland. We had a great time in Langley Castle, thank you very much. To stay in the Langley Castle was an extraordinary experience which we will never forget anymore. Just perfect!

Langley Castle is absolutely gorgeous. We booked the B&B&D (bed & breakfast & dinner) option, and the 3-course dinner was more food than we could even enjoy. My venison was cooked perfectly, and the fish was also tasty. The menu is somewhat limited but what is on offer is delicious. I highly recommend this dining experience.

The food was fresh and prepared well but it lacked any seasoning. We all felt like it could be so much better. The castle is lovely and the setting is beautiful but the bland food and the off and on service was annoying for such a nice place! Would have liked to say more positive things.

We agreed that although many people on duty , they failed to observe the situation on the table, we had all finished the starter and no plates were cleared, until we pointed this out after a wait of some ten to fifteen minutes. this failure reduced our rating to 3 stars <br /><br />david saxton

The food was imaginative, well presented and delicious. Every ingredient was perfectly cooked .<br />The value score would have been outstanding had the vegetable/potato portion been slightly larger for the main course. <br />The service throughout the evening was excellent. Having dined here before we were very disappointed with our meal. The quality of the food, the execution, cooking and presentation have gone downhill. The lamb was grisly and horrible. The potatoes raw, and paultry vegetables. The desserts were very poor - supermarket quality. The service was not up to scratch. The whole evening felt as if corners were being cut. I doubt we&#039;ll return.

Enjoyed Sunday Lunch at Langley Castle hotel on March 12th. Courteous service from all the waiting staff in the drawing room, restaurant and reception. Restaurant manager Andrew was particularly polite and helpful.<br />Good menu choices, but would definitely recommend the chocolate brownie dessert, salted caramel sauce with peanut butter icecream as a favourite.

Me and my husband went to Langley castle for Sunday lunch and the food was lovely, we always love going to Langley castle as it&#039;s where we got married last year and the staff are always lovely.

There was not a booking! Nobody in restaurant! We&#039;re shown to sofas to have food! Asked for a table! No service. Poor bar man Reese had to try his best. Afternoon tea was not vfm. Two buyers were good. Reese did give 2 drinks fox &amp; removed 1 cream tea off bill. Such a shame as had high expectations. We&#039;d even driven 1 hr to get there.

The meal I booked for my wife and I was beautifully cooked, all three courses we&#039;re prepared and presented extremely well, the flavours were bursting out, the service and atmosphere of the restaurant was very relaxing for a lovely evening, I would recommend the restaurant to any of my family and friends.

The castle is beautiful, really atmospheric tho a bit tired in places..<br />The service is great,all the staff were lovely...<br />Unfortunately it was the dreaded nouvelle cuisine and I almost laughed out loud at the size of my starter ! Overall, it was all tasty,but I wouldn&#039;t visit again solely for the food...the vegetarian choices could do with extending as well..as risotto was the order of the day..again !<br />However...its worth a visit for the ambiance and romantic surroundings..

An idyllic location with a magnificent backdrop of the castle, the decor is reflective of the character of this amazing location. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and pay attention to the details. The food shows the talent of the chef and kitchen staff with a very nice menu, again reflective of the locale. Most certainly a place to visit with family or friends for a special occasion.

Absolutely stunning place with impeccable service and delicious food. Prices are as expected (£37 for a bottle of [nice!] wine), but it&#039;s so worth it. This is be a great place for a special day (or a Wednesday :-D) and appeals for those in love with historic ambience, opulence and decadence.

One of the best Sunday lunches we have had. Lovely fresh food, presented beautifully, in lovely surroundings. The best dining in Northumberland, and better than many in London.

Great, fresh baked rustic baguettes and breads, fresh fillings with hand cut meats what more could you want. Highly recommended for a quick, tasty bite tor meat with friends or family. Served with a lovely smile from Charlotte!

Good restaurant service done the right way - i.e. you wait in a [grand and ornate] anteroom and are served drinks and hors d&#039;oeuvres before being shown to your table. Food was excellent and we had no complaints!

Sunday Lunch with atmosphere. Service was excellent and reasonable priced for a very tasty three course lunch. All courses were generous and chocolate pudding for chocaholics - yummy.

The whole experience was unique. Sadly it was a cold, wet night so we could not walk around the grounds that looked lovely.<br />Having a drink in the lounge whilst looking through the menu was special and the service excellent.<br />The first course, scallops, was really nice. The main course, I had the duck whilst my husband had the lamb, that he said was a little ordinary, although the meat itself was first class was a little disappointing. Dessert was a chocolate mousse which was quite thick and a little too rich whereas the brûlée and strawberry soup was first class.<br />There was a good choice of wine by the glass and reasonably priced given the quality.<br />Overall whilst not the best meal I have ever had was, nonetheless, special due to the venue.

Tea, coffee, drinks and snacks can be had durung the day in the castle lounge. The restaurant is for evening dining and open to public bookings and not just overnight guests. Food in the lounge and the restaurant is of top class quality as is also the service and attention. The restaurant is fine dining and the wine selection up market. But to add to the overall experience you simply must stay a night in the castle and play king and queen for the day.

The lady at reception was so lovely and helpful, explained future package deals, as we showed interest in overnight stay. The service and the sunday lunch amazing loved it from start to finish.

We were undecided where to take my wife and a friend and remembered a birthday party we had attended a couple of years ago at Langley Castle,so renewed our acquaintance. We were well pleased with the service ,food and atmosphere.

The sun was shining! as we drove up the drive to the light stoned impressive façade of the castle and clean well kept lawns with fountain outside.<br /><br />The interior is suitably decorated in castle-like attire. A bit fake looking with all the medieval stuff and 6ft knights armour, but it fits.<br /><br />Staff are welcoming and pleasant, but somehow don&#039;t seem to belong there. It&#039;s as if they aren&#039;t allowed to be natural and have been trained to act with subservience, bordering on diffidence. Shame really, because they could make the place sparkle.<br /><br />Really liked the food - well presented and prepared, but to be fair it was only a roast. For some reason it doesn&#039;t come automatically with anything other than a gravy dribble, forcing the diner into the &#039;embarrassment&#039; of asking for more. &quot;Please Sir, may I ask for some.......&quot;.<br /><br />So a very pleasant, if a little quiet and sheltered Sunday lunch with one glass of wine each for £63. Value? No, but enjoyed it none the less. Perhaps an option for only 2-courses would help. Local pubs do it just as well, with bigger helpings for those that are hungry and 1/3 price.<br /><br />We will return though to try the evening &#039;fine dining&#039;.

Excellent food with attention to every detail. The chef is outstanding in terms of execution, flavour and the pictures created on the plate. Charming little details in the form of extra, unexpected treats were extremely welcome. Breakfast was unbelievable! Service was beyond reproach, each member of staff is to be complimented on the way they interact with guests, remembering names, who has been feeling unwell etc. Can&#039;t wait to return!

This is the best restaurant I have been to in the north east. Amazing value and such a special dining experience. If you guys don&#039;t receive a Michelin star soon it will be criminal. Well done to the chef and your dining team. I will be back soon!

We treat ourselves to dinner at Langley castle a couple of times a year. W always feel that we have been in another time and world for the 2-3 hour experience.

Superb building, great staff, fantastic food. <br /><br />From the minute you drive up to the fairy tale castle and walk in through the doors your are looked after by attentive staff, although the service has a light touch so is not overbearing.<br /><br />You take drinks in a upstairs lounge full of comfy chairs, so a nice place to go through the menu and chat. Small plates are served which give a preview to the standard of cooking.<br /><br />The dining room is a good size, but not too big and the food is superb.<br /><br />Most noticeable thing is that most of the staff are young and doing a great job, they are a credit to the castle.

I to own a hotel and restaurant and have been to Langley before ,location and ambience great, service very good ,but food portions were very small, my guests were not impressed so maybe I will not return for some time.

Langley Castle is an amazingingly beautiful and atsmopheric venue. The surroundings are outstanding. The food is not. Nouveu Cuisine has been take to the absolute limit. The presentation was exquisite but the amounts were not substantial enough. Too Fancy even for my liking.

We have eaten at Langley Castle before and was impressed then - this time, the food was even better. We had the roast beef which literally melted in the mouth and the starters were incredible. This would have been a 5 star rating if it had not been for some minor niggles which are only mentioned in case the comments can be used constructively - they are not complaints as the overall experience was wonderful.<br />On arrival we were left waiting in the Drawing Room for some time before a waiter asked if we would like drinks. He was polite but obviously inexperienced and we felt a little less polished than the setting might dictate.<br />We ordered a bottle of white wine before our lunch which was served without being properly chilled. Whilst it went back into the fridge we were given a glass of wine each &quot;to be going on with&quot; - which was a generous offer and appreciated. The bottle was then redelivered later and as it was still not very cold, we were given ice to add to the wine. OK - it was not the most expensive bottle on the wine list but sticking ice into a glass of wine does destroy the taste.<br />One of our desserts was sticky toffee pudding - 95% of which was delicious. Sadly, the sponge had burned along one edge and the burned taste was in this section of the pudding. When asked if all was OK, we pointed out to the waitress that the sponge had tasted burned and she commented - &quot;oh yes, I can see it is burned&quot; - pointing to the piece of sponge which had been left on the plate. There was no apology.<br />Having said all this - the venue is stunning and the rest of our food was perhaps amongst the best we have ever eaten and we will definitely go back again.

The staff explained what every dish comprised of. They were very knowledgeable and attentive.<br /><br />We chose to stay and dine at Langley Castle as a special treat as we were celebrating our Pearl Wedding Anniversary. We had a really lovely stay.

Dinner was delightful! Great place for an anniversary or engagement. Setting and food were outstanding along with the service and presentation of the food. Highly recommend, however it is on the expensive side. However, you get what you pay for so it is well worth it!

This venue is a perfect location, stunning castle with fantastic food which was beautifully presented. This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten and one of the most enjoyable. Some elements of theatre added to the occasion. Great romantic venue can not fault it. We had lunch which we were told is stopping glad we got in on time but shame others can&#039;t share our experience.

Langley Castle was recommended by a friend, and exceeded his lavish praise in every area. The welcome, the service. The location, the food, the ambience, the quality of every facet was outstanding. If you like history and character then you will love Langley Castle. Small enough to be private and cosy yet grand enough to experience the delight of visiting a larger castle.<br />Always a warm welcome , where the staff are attentive without being over bearing. The food is superb and is served by well informed staff who are well versed on every aspect of hospitality.<br />For me it is a special and very comfortable place to dine.

Outstanding food and service. Both my husband and I have travelled extensively over our twenty five years together. Langley castle has to be in our top two; the food is not about quantity but the flavours which were outstanding. The only down side is we do not live closer enough to become weekly quests.

Great location, nice aperitif by an open fire to start followed by a 9 course taster menu. Great food, great service, most enjoyable evening finished off with a single red rose!

We have dined at Langley many times over the last 14 years and it has always been a very special experience, however the last meal was not as enjoyable due the pretentious experimentation with the menu as it appeared they were trying to follow trends as apposed to setting trends for excellent quality beautifully cooked food without the silly superfluous extras e.g. mushroom &quot;smoke&quot; and parsnip crisps with the chocolate dessert.<br />Please stick to excellent food without the &quot;trendy&quot; extras.
