A little gem! We regularly have a snack in the cafe after a class or gym session at the leisure centre. The food and drinks are consistently good and very reasonably priced. The staff are helpful and friendly.

I turn up today at 4:45 ish when the closing time advertised in their window is 6pm just to be turned away with a simple ‘we aren’t serving food anymore’, with nothing else to it just that. This makes no sense to me as surely the most chance to make sales in the week would be from all the swimming lessons for kids after school having their siblings and parents sat in the cafe like it used to be before porters came and took over. I left disappointed and confused.

Went in after swimming today (Wednesday) at 4.30pm only to be informed that they are not serving food. It is open until 6pm but there are no signs to say this at all. The person who I spoke to was a little abrupt and just said "were not serving food" and that was it. No sorry or could I get you anything else. I am fully aware that it is a social enterprise scheme but some sort of notice aboit serving times would help and curtesy would not go amiss.

Been visiting porters cafe now for the past 2 months while a family member has been swimming, ive noticed when i first went to the cafe to watch the swimmers that the windows/glass were very dirty, 2 months on the same hand prints are still on the glass where i first sat, the cafe itself seems clean but i think they just dont like cleaning glass.

In being, currently, a regular visitor to the Leisure Centre I often pass Porter's. For once, today, I had the need for a lunchtime snack and eating there seemed the logical option. Both the meal and service were very acceptable. The food was well presented, of generous portions and reasonable price. Would recommend to others and am likely to revisit

I would like to comgratulat the chef for serving such a well presented meal which was also such good value for money. We will be back and can highly recomend The Mountain View if you want value for money.

An amazingly sympathetic conversion. I popped back numerous times during my visit. It is great to see outstanding historic buildings preserved and given a new lease of life. Loved it!

I am gluten-free but arrived after the jacket potatoes had all been sold… Little chef Mo was a hero and cooked some chips which are gluten-free in a separate pan for me especially! The rest of the family had Panini‘s, a pizza and ham, egg and chips and all loved it. If you’ve been here sometime ago, then you’ll be glad to hear that it’s had a revamp and it looks really clean and tidy now and very smart well worth a visit.

We arrived at 6.00pm for a Sunday roast and the restaurant was very quiet so we decided to sit in the bar. It took a while to get someone to take the order and we informed the server that my wife was gluten free and that was not a problem. The roast dinner arrived and we looked at the roast potatoes which were well over cooked and tasted like they had been in the oven or under a hot lamp for far to long, the Yorkshire pudding was also dry and crusty. The dinner at best was Luke warm and my wife sent hers back to be heated up in a microwave. For the price of £17.95 it should of all been fresh and hot. We had been traveling most of the day so we were hungry and ate most of the dinner but we were very disappointed. The bar prices were also high £5.80 for a pint of cider. We have eaten here in the past and always found the food very good but will not be visiting again.
