Waited a while before I got serve as lady was busy getting glasses, mugs, pop ready for a table, then took it, and I was still waiting before council workers came in, and after 10 min she asked who's next?

You get what you expect for the price. The servers are good and efficient, but they're so painfully short staffed that you're left queuing for ages.

Absolutely no atmosphere. Really very dull.

Was never expecting much from wetherspoons but being called a “Karen” for saying the chicken burger I ordered was actually beef wasn’t great. When I got my chicken burger they obviously couldn’t be bothered to wang it in the microwave like usual because it was stone cold all the way through. 0 stars all round, shame your drink prices are so cheap

Ordered food for my partner myself and the children, the side dish of curry and chips had early been left under the heat lamps for far too long as the sauce had gone solid, my partners pizza had come out with out the chilli's so when asked for the chilli's to be added they had just been thrown on top instead of cooked in the pizza, they offered to reheat the already burnt pizza, we asked for a fresh pizza, which after being remade had come out half the size of the original one that was brought out, I had ordered a burger which came with a cremated bun and burnt burger patties, so asked for a fresh one that came back just as burnt as the first one, eventually asked for the money back, for the food that had been sent back.

Poor service, rude server. Come back again Same again this time rude and incredibly arrogant server. Last visit.

Shocking tables not cleaned away,service slow due to only three staff ,food luke warm unable to speak to manager due to some lady making a complaint. Avoid is all I can say.

We had two cups of coffee and back for a refill. For £2.08. Great 👍

Stopped in for lunch. Service was good especially as it was busy. Enjoyed the meal. I had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw. I would pop back into this spoons if in the area.

Typical Wetherspoons, great value, quick service, decent atmosphere

We only call in for coffee. Excellent price on coffee and free refills. Have eaten there once, the meal was nice, and was served quickly. Sadly only 1 or 2 people serving at the bar so there usually a wait. Staff are polite and friendly. Too many tables and too close together, in my opinion. Feels cramped. The place is very clean. Toilets are nice and clean.

I would definitely recommend avoiding this place. We ordered food on the app, waited over an hour to be told our food had gone to the wrong table, then told they could reorder the food but the kitchen had now run out of what we ordered. We also had some drinks given to a different table. Very disappointed with the service. In the end we asked for a refund, but that takes a few days.

Popped in after shopping for a bite to ear and a pint. American cheeseburger far from American, smaller than McDonald's and very average taste. Mixed grill was also decidedly average. Meats were dry and very bland. Place was busy but its a spoons so the best priced drinks around. I like Weatherspoons and would visit here again for drinks. Definitely won't be ordering food here though as for the price I don't think it's worth it. I'll happily pay a bit more somewhere else.

What looked like a great choice breakfast menu turned into about the worse meal I have ever experienced. After spending some time travelling in Canada and the USA over the past twenty years, my friend and I got over excited with the American breafast on the menu. Unfortunately, the cheap pancakes were too chewy to finish , the crispy bacon was far from it, the eggs were over cooked and tastless with hard yokes. However, it was cheap, but not even worth that price. Top up coffees were about the only thing American.

Although very busy not very clean lots of dirty dishes around. Not very tidy. Would not go again.

Shame some tables weren't cleaned for over an hour on our first visit..it wasn't due to lack of staff..,second visit better

We know wetherspoons is cheap and cheerful but for a nearly 7 quid jacket potato with beans and extra cheese this was so shocking we had to count the beans!! 15 beans in total with a tablespoon of grated cheese! Not expecting any improvement from this, but getting it off my chest! Shocking!

Tomato and basil soup is the best. As always, Weatherspoons beers are class and cheap.

The meals we had this day were, quite honestly, two of the best grills we have had at any JDs, this establishment in particular and we've been frequenting since it opened. There has been a change of manager and my goodness it shows! 'Attila the Hen' seems to have gone, along with the sour attitudes and poor service. More please.

We called in during a recent visit to Carmarthen. I certainly consider that spoons take H & S seriously. However, I think here in Carmarthen they take this topic one stage too far. We ordered two breakfast's, and not to our surprise, the food arrived luke warm, the beans were just above being cold, as was the bacon, toast was just warm bread, no colour to it. Yes, the sausage & hash brown were warm. We both like our food warm/ hot. So, is it a H & S issue NOT to serve warm/hot food, in case a customer has a claim for scalding!! Certainly would not recommend for a breakfast, better off going to the indoor market.

I would have given no stars if I could. It was busy which I understand makes wait times longer. Even still myself and everyone I was eating with had cold food which we had to wait over an hour for, when we spoke to a manager we got an eye roll and little understanding and recognition of our issues. Wouldn't recommend.

Had to cancel meal after waiting nearly an hour for food. Not blaming the staff. There were not enough. The sign in the pub trying to recruit bore this out. Drinks great value as usual and pub busy. Doubt I will ever order food there again however.

Good selection of ales on tap and the meals are reasonably priced. Not exceptional but it is in a convenient location and a good place to stop off to take a break on my way down to West Wales

The food was nice if only we could have finished it. The manager (team leader) on shift today 29th October was passive aggressive rude and obnoxious. Made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable we left our plates half eaten due to this . Will not return and do not recommend.

It's JD Wetherspoons, what more could you expect Food is basic, it's warmed up in a microwave, and served. The coffee machines are always on the blink . Seriously understaffed in there. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, which is a mirical considering the conditions they have to work under. Sadly someone has to work there, it's not their fault.

Great place to meet and have a good value meal. Service was good but only one person behind bar taking orders. However how can you complain at these prices!

The place was very busy there clearly was not enough staff the staff that were there were rushed off their feet there was tables that had not been cleared up our food arrived but there was no cutlery we had to wait for it to be sent up from the kitchen management need to get more staff in .

Great meals as I came with my pre teen son on a Sunday afternoon for an early birthday celebration. We used the new app advertised on ad boards in the pub and menu's to order at our table with ease. We ordered from the meal with free drink menu. I had the tikka masala and naan and my son had boneless chicken and chips. Tables were off putting as looked like a lack of attention and untidy and needed clearing and cleaning but our drinks were waiting on the bar and I saw no staff taking them to us so I took the initiative after 5-10 minutes. Food was hot, tasty and good portions. My son opted for dessert of pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream.

Orderd the curry came curry OK rice cold samosas cold nann bread half worm half cold took 20minutes to complain not good

Food is cheap and very tasty. I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch out. Service can be delayed but depends upon staffing.

My breakfast was cold and not cooked through. Was taken away only to have the same breakfast served to me slightly warmer. Broken eggs piled on top of each other. Bar man was very polite. After indigestion won’t be going back!

I usually am allowed to have the onion rings that come with my burger swapped for additional chips, however as of today ive been told that this isnt possible. Considering that it is a reasonable request im disappointed. And will have to find something else to order if this continues.

Long wait for our meals. Some were at best warm, rolls for burgers were burnt, well past toasted. Mashed potatoes were hard Strangely couldn't find staff to complain to. Perhaps Sunday is not the day to go. Probably the worst Weatherspoons meal I've had.

Bar and waitresses staff where excellent, Food was OK except for the mash potatoes very dry and looked terrible. Myself and my companion have been using your pub/restaurants for at least once a week for many years and we have seen a steady decline in the quality of the food. I hope this helps your company. Jensen was really helpful, brought our food over quickly and realised we didn’t already have our drinks. Apologised and went and made them for us. Grabbed us some barbecue sauce as there was none out and was just generally helpful to other guests and staff . Clearly knows his job well and is very cheerful while doing it! Thank you, much appreciated 😊😊

Though busy, we asked for the table to be cleaned, ended up taking cloth of the staff to wash the table properly. Ordered by app, drinks arrived no problem, food arrive promptly but wasn’t hot. Had to ask for sauces then asked for salt & pepper and vinegar which didn’t arrive??? Wasn’t the cleanest of places and so much so one of our party while seating had a bite on her leg and from god knows what but it made a right mess of her leg Definitely not one to return to

Can't beat a wetherspoons big breakfast for the price. Fantastic service and great food.

The staff in this place are absolutely fantastic. They are very experienced in knowing who is next in a very busy queue of people. Tables are cleaned for the next diners. Condiments are always topped up and easily accessible. Loos are fresh in appearance and regularly attended to.

We sat in the out doors area and ordered food with alcohol, apparently alcoholic drinks aren't allowed outside this pub, it did say so on the doors, but seeing how we already decided to sit outside, we didn't even pay attention to what it said on the door. We ordered food and drinks through the app, and no where on the tables or on the app did it say that alcohol was not permitted outside the restaurant. A waitress came over to let us know about that, so we asked for some soft drinks instead as we mentioned that we had a dog with us so we couldn't go inside, to which she said okay, and that she will get a manager to help us, a manager came out, and straight away she started being passive aggressive as she said that it said No dogs on the premises. Which we later found that it was a small sign that just said "No dogs allowed" this was our own fault that we didn't check, as we just assumed that dogs would be okay to have outside as they are in the wetherspoons local to us, but any sane person would just assume that that meant No dogs allowed inside. Then, after the first manager left, the second one came over to tell us that we would have to leave, as we had a dog, we asked for a refund which he then told us we couldn't have, as all the food is ready, so I asked what we were meant to do now, and he said there isn't anything else for us to do. We weren't even offered to have the food to be packed up in take away boxes, I had to ask for it myself, it was almost like he just wanted us to walk away after having already payed over £50 for food and drinks with out anything we ordered and without a refund. Then we finally got the food packed up, we got home to eat it, and the portions were very small, it wasn't worth the money we payed for it. I don't recomend, there were many more better restaurants. Avoid this wetherspoons.

Went to this Wetherspoons yesterday. Took ages to actually get served, even though the place was nearly empty.. The sauce bottles were also all empty and there was no milk for tea. Actually asked one of the staff for milk and she wandered off. Waited 10 minutes and watched her moving the the milk container from place to place in kitchen area through doorway. Finally I got so fed up and actually went to the kitchen door and took the milk from her to put by the coffee machine myself. The table we were at was also unwiped and stayed that way throughout our meal. Wetherspoons are usually really good but not impressed with this one!

I have visited many Witherspoon's in my area and I think the best coffee is in Carmarthen. Maybe it's the water supply or they clean machines more often.

Visited when in Carmarthen. Called in mid morning while the Women's World Cup was on. Very busy but found a table. Took a while to get served but understandable at the time. Food was served hot & delicious. Spacious rear area. Toilets upstairs and tgen goes out onto a lovely beer garden. A lovely Spoons that must be the hub of the town but we'll maintained and hood food at good prices

A nicely tucked away Spoons on the high street just past the castle. Visited mid- morning when the Women's World Cup was on England Vs Australia. A big crowd was huddled around the TV at the front so made our way to the back. Found our table and ordered. Food took a while but nice & hot once we got it. American beef burger & barbecued Chicken pizza. Both nice but my wife said it was one of the nicest pizzas she's ever had. Toilets were upstairs but the men's was hard to find as it was tucked to the right so quite hidden. Not a bad little Spoons and it is obviously the hub of Camarthan though it's quite far down the high street. A nice little beer garden on the top aswell

Ordered food today, and every dish was terrible. Burger was overcooked and contained one strand of lettuce. Bread had been left on the warmer so long it had actually toasted. Daughters burger was inedible and made her ill after eating it. Would definitely not go back here.

I'm a frequent visitor to Wetherspoons pubs. In recent months I've been to pubs in Swansea, Cardiff, Birmingham, Maidenhead, many in London, and probably a few others. I know what they are and also understand what they are not. Generally the staff are eagle eyed, they keep a look out for customers that need serving at the bar. If the pub is busy then staff are busy trying to deal with customers as quickly as possible, all of this while also dealing with orders placed via the Wetherspoons App. Regrettably none of the above applies to the Hen Dderwyn in Carmarthen. Frequently there will be just one staff member serving customers at the bar, while others stand around watching and yacking. And even then there are two speeds, slow, and extremely slow. This isn't a "one off" incident, I visit here fairly often, and this is almost normal even when there are very few customers waiting at the bar. This week, 10 minutes at an almost empty bar just to get one pint of beer. This pub recently underwent a major reburb. They now need to invest in some staff training and motivation. "Staff shortages" is the usual excuse. No it's not. There also seems to be a bit of an aversion to clearing tables. I don't get it. If someone delivers food or drinks to an area of the pub, then why go back empty handed?

I don't know what's gone wrong here. Usually my first port of call for food when in Carmarthen but standard of cleaning up after customers has dropped dramatically. Spoke to member of staff and was told apologetically that they were short staffed. To be honest for such a busy time I only saw around 6 members of staff. Two struggling to serve at a very busy bar. Three running around up and down the stairs bringing the drink and food orders to the tables. 1 struggling to clear the tables. Come on Wetherspoon's sort yourselves out. It's getting the same in my local Spoons too

Have been here many times but this afternoon was absolutely awful, after a brilliant building upgrade don’t go to eat there 😒. We arrived at approximately 4pm with our grand daughter for tea time meal, nearly all tables covered in dirty glasses & used plates etc. Ordered some food, ( on walking to our table passed the kitchen & noticed it was full of dirt dishes with left over food piled high) food practically arrived within minutes, dried up burgers & chips we only continued as it was a treat for our granddaughter who luckily had some decent sausages. This place needs examining by environmental health ASAP

Very disappointed this visit, tables not wiped or cleaned, and carpets dirty full of crumbs. Place wasn't busy so can't blame it on that, food looked to have been recooked, chicken 🐔 breast bites worst every had visiting numerous wetherspoons, batter soggy an overcooked.. Get your act together carmarthen, puts people off eating here, glasses were dirty with sticky sauce stains on and in general the place just looks grimy.

Nice roof terrace. Edit.. returned 4 months later. Absolutely shocking. Stinking dirty. Food unrecognisable..could understand if was busy. Place half empty.

Probably the worst Weatherspoons I have been in (I've been in a lot!) Very dirty & although lots of empty tables it was hard to find one not strewn with plates, glasses etc where no one was clearing. The clearing hatch was overflowing as were the 4 trolleys in front of it with dirty dishes piled high. Food was not great as it was slow service & not particularly hot. Will not be visiting this branch again & suggest you find somewhere else.

Eight of us, looking for cheap, chearful dinner. DIRTY TABLES, flys everywhere, meals poor, service horrible, cold ( rice and chicken ) and possibly bordering on dangerous, one of us missed for was refunded whilst Seven others ate but couldnt finish. Won't be back. Possibly the worse experience for restaurants we have ever had.

Staff were disinterested, and carried on private conversation whilst serving drinks. Tables were filthy - lots of tables cluttered with dirty glasses. Had to clear our own sticky table while staff stood around and chatted.

Oh dear, Oh dear. What is wetherspoons at Carmarthen doing? Went there last night with friends for drinks and some food. I chose the beef Madrass curry. £11 with a pint thrown in. When it arrived I was presented with a small steel bowl filled...

Very poor experience compared with many visits over the past 10 years or more. Food was poor and missing things like side salads, poppadoms and naan bread. Drinks bought as part of our "meal deal" were left on the bar without us being told that they weren't part of the "table service". This might just be an isolated issue at Yr Hen Dderwen in Carmarthen, but I can't imagine Tim Martin would be very happy if he made the journey down to West Wales to witness what we did tonight. Maybe not enough of us in Wales voted for Brexit for him to be interested in us?

Cheap beer reasonable food and recently refurbished premises. As a result, it can get busy in there and the staff are easily overwhelmed.

Breakfast was OK, but dinners were not great. Salad had brown leaves. Chicken curry was very oily. Service was poor when order taken. Wrong number of meals despite checking after receiving too much change. When challenged the girl who served us was rude and blamed us for ordering incorrectly.

Terrible service all wrong food orders and most of staff miserable ☹you seriously need to address this .

Have to credit where it’s due, i wrote a scathing review on here a month ago, after a horrible experience, having given it another couple of visits, I have to say it’s improved 100% good work folks, you won me back 👍

One of few good things in Carmarthen. Near the castle. Food and drink still remarkably reasonably priced, I had a manager special mix grill for £4.99! (struggle to get a sandwich for that elsewhere?) mini fish and chips that wasn't so mini, tea and coffee still 99p with free refills, £13.19 the lot!! Can't go wrong. Staff all very pleasant, nice loos, in a standard 'Spoons layout. Could do with someone to clear and wipe down tables a bit quicker.
