Very disappointed with this establishment. They have a lovely pub and lovely views but are poor on helping their customers to have a good experience. I won’t be going back there for food as I’ve been let down over my chosen dessert 3 times now (!) and given no compensation in any form for them not having it. It’s a cheesecake that sounds delicious and is on their menu and each time I’ve asked for it ( on different days and times ) they have ‘run out’. The second time they ran out, my hot drink was supposed to be on the house but put they charged us for it- we only realised once we had left. The third time I was given nothing but a slice of lemon in my tap water. Not only that but one of their drinks on their menu which I fancied is no longer served! Very poor. I would hope an establishment would do all they could to make up for a disappointment with their food.

Beautiful Sunday lunch well worth a visit friendly staff.

I contacted the Ty Mawr to see if they could fit a large party in at very short notice. A close friend died on Boxing Day and we wanted somewhere to meet up with his family to support them and each other and have somewhere to share stories. The Ty Mawr were fantastic, finding us a space where we could sit together away from other customers so it was private, so there could be tears, chat, anecdotes and laughter. It was so appreciated by us all - giving us somewhere to be together at such a sad time. Many thanks, especially to Michelle, who managed to accommodate us on the day and at the time we requested, and treated us with so much consideration and respect. All the staff were great, and the food and drink were as usual excellent.

Absolutely brilliant breakfast with Santa. We were a few families together and so a large table but the pub happily accommodated us and let all 7 children visit Santa together. He was the best Santa I have seen and amazing with the children. Breakfast was a cooked breakfast but high quality and large portions. I’m looking forward to booking us all in for next year. It was great having it close to Christmas as it felt so festive. Priced very well and didn’t feel ripped off.

Lovely country-style pub, with a great cozy atmosphere and amazing views over Cardiff. We had a great service with no delays on one of the busiest days of the year (Christmas eve). Food was good quality, and they serve proper pies 👍 thanks to Michelle for hosting us and making us feel so relaxed!

Breakfast with Santa was fantastic! Breakfast was yummy, staff super friendly! Manager greeted us which was lovely. The Santa was brilliant interacted with children defo would have paid more. Pub has a great vibe.... would defo return for a nice evening meal.

Food we were charged for extra pigs in blanket and cauliflower cheese which came after we had finished meal and the sea bass meal was very cold and even the waitress agreed wouldn't go back

Worst Christmas dinner! Tasteless fish and turkey dinners. Christmas pudding inedible, tasted awful.

Each time I come here the is service is great and the food is always lovely! Good prices for the quality food you get. Michelle was such a lovely and helpful waitress.

We were greeted in a warm & friendly manner. The pub was decorated perfectly for the Christmas season. Our festive food was delicious & plentiful. The Christmas pudding was amazing. Overall a lovely experience.

Very relaxed environment- quite a simple menu- food was hot and tasty- Staff were lovely and service was very good, although we did have to wait a while for our dessert. We were seated by the fireplace , which is probably lovely in winter but without the fire glow the area was quite dark- it would benefit from more warm lighting to make it more welcoming. That being said, it was a relaxing lunch to catch up with an old friend.

Lovely setting for a family lunchtime meal, beautiful food and fabulous views. We sat by the log fire which was cosy. Service was excellent, will visit again.

Michelle was absolutely brilliant! Made a meal with three very young children/babies so much easier and enjoyable. She couldn’t do enough for us. The food was also great as per. We brought some family who have travelled down to visit and this was will be our new go to. Thank you!

I Hadn’t visited here for a number of years after moving away from the area. It was great to see the pub in fantastic condition and still in a great setting. Nice atmosphere and cosy fires. Friendly staff who were very attentive. The food was also excellent and served without any hassle.

Unfortunately due to a power cut we only had our starter, it took 40 minutes for staff to notify us that we may not have the main course. I realise it was a difficult situation but better communication would have been appreciated. It was so late that we could go to an alternative venue.

Service was slow and food poor quality. Peas must have been cooked days ago they were like rocks. Quite a few things on the menu were not available. Won't be rushing back.

Lovely atmosphere with warm open fire on a dingy evening. Good menu and drink options. Pie lovey, steaks not the best but OK. Puddings fab! Highlight was the service. Michelle was fantastic. Professional, friendly and attentive service and encouraged our disabled daughter to order her own food and engage in conversation. Able to use my Taste Card so 25% off the bill. We will return. Party of five arrived for food. Ordered food via the QR code on the menu. First problem was that multiple dishes people wanted were not available. A vegan member of the party ordered the only remaining dish available to him, but after we'd paid and were waiting for the food a member of staff came out to inform us that it was a lunchtime option and also not available. We had to cancel the whole order and go elsewhere. Unfortunately this isn't my first negative food experience at Ty Mawr and there appears to be an underlying problem that needs resolving. Many friends and colleagues have also had problems ordering food there and it has acquired a bad reputation locally. This isn't a criticism of the staff who were all polite and professional.

The burger was terrible! portion size was tiny and well overpriced probably the only place that serves 3oz burgers instead of your 4oz quarter pounders you get everywhere else disappointed would be an understatement!

The service and food was great. The pub was very busy so food was a little longer coming out, we didn’t mind. We loved the magician that came to our table, that was a great touch and he was very good! We are booked for Christmas Day and are looking forward to it 😃

A foul stench of sewage. We did not stay. Until it’s fixed the place should be closed. The manager seemed almost oblivious of the problem saying it was a maintenance issue and they needed to clear the muck.

Very good food and service, our waitress was very friendly and enjoyed a laugh with me and my family whilst taking orders. She was also very happy to help with all my father's dietary requirements.

We have had a few Sunday lunches over the past few weeks and they have been very tasty on every occasion. Michelle and Ieuan have served us during our visits. They are welcoming, friendly, efficient, and provide a great service. Highly recommended.

Fabulous pub in Lisvane spectacular views over cardiff large garden.

First time visit here today. I booked the day of so there was an issue with seating. But they accommodated us in the bar. We were sat on bar stools which wasn’t the greatest but it was ok. Food was delicious, really reasonable prices, and the views were spectacular. We will come back again.

Very slow food service . Shame it's a lovely pub, great kids play area outside and staff friendly. Been there twice and waited well over an hour for the food to come after ordering it

We thought that the service was average, nothing about the waiter was particularly special. The food that came was absolutely terrible. I ordered the vegetarian tart, and my partner ordered the pork roast. The pork roast was meant to come with stuffing and crackling which we ended up having to chase as it didn’t come with the dish. The stuffing that came looked like it had come from Iceland or Poundland frozen section. The food tasted awful and we regretted coming here.

Great view for cardiff and nice interior. good selection of food and drink. They are often busy or booked out so definitely suggest booking. Good amount of outdoor seating and play park for children.

We moved to Cardiff recently and i was looking forward to visiting this pub often. The view is beautiful, and the kids playground is great. So I was really disappointed about the rude welcome. We wanted to eat some food and the woman behind the bar huffed and rolled her eyes. Maybe she'd had a bad day. She told us we couldn't sit outside because she didn't want to bring the food out. I smiled nervously and felt so uncomfortable with this exchange. I wanted to leave to be honest. Terrible welcome to what looks like a nice pub.

We had our wedding day at Ty Mawr and the whole day went perfectly. The venue looked great, each aspect of the day ran smoothly and transitions were seamless thanks to the staff. Its a relaxed venue and whilst shared with the public we didn't notice this on the day at all. We would 100% recommend the venue looking for a relaxed and intimate wedding venue.

Beautiful place just outside of Cardiff with a big beer garden and great play area. Food was lovely and the service was good. We'll definitely be going again and again.

What a great lunch me and my partner had yesterday! The team were really friendly and personable and the options on their lunch menu was great! I had the tenders and fries and it was really well presented and great value for money! This was my first time visiting the venue and I am really looking forward to coming again to try something from their main menu!

I don’t normally font write reviews but I was so disappointed with the Burger I had this evening. It was dumped on a plate with fries , no salad, no taste at all, cheese was tough no bacon that I could see. I mentioned that I was not happy to the waiter who said he was sorry and walked off and no one came to get feed back. Not good. It was over £15.00 , Burger King would have been better

Stunning location with amazing views, good outside area with plenty of seating and a play area. The food's average, service slow and often long queues at the bar. The hanging baskets and raised beds are all dead. Needs more care and staff as it should be a gem

Attended wedding nice venue friendly staff

Great out of town pub, more about eating than having a social drink although I'm sure its different when the suns out - food was good but service did struggle as it was quite busy

This evening was our first visit, a family of 4, 2 adults and a 5 yr old and 6 yr old. As a family dining out this venue did not disappoint, from the moment we pulled up in a very generous car park and saw the views we were already very impressed. We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely member of staff who promptly showed us to our table (booked in advance) with a smile and welcoming attitude, she explained the menu to us and left us to get comfortable. We ordered all our food without any issue at the bar again by a very friendly member of the team who was very patient and prompt. No waiting at all. All our mains arrived together and were beautifully presented. They were quick to arrive, within 20 minutes ( much to our daughters disappointment, they wanted to play in the park) and the food served was absolutely beautiful. I had the ribeye steak, partner had burger and children had fish goujons. The meals were a really good size and filled us all nicely. We were left alone while eating our food which I really like. There's nothing worse than someone coming and asking if everything is OK with your meal when you have your mouth full. There were staff around if I felt the need to raise a concern. The meals were all hot and eaten by everyone with no complaints. I requested another side of peppercorn sauce because the sauce is hands down the nicest peppercorn sauce I have ever tasted and was enjoyed by all of us dipping. The extra sauce was delivered within 5 minutes of ordering without any complaint or frustration. The dessert was delivered within the same speed as the mains and again, the standard was something else, my partner had the chocolate dome which is definitely worth visiting again for! All in all a really good experience, the nicest food we've ever had eating out as a family, really nice friendly atmosphere and those views! 😍. The staff never stopped, they were all so busy, it seems to be a really popular place and I can see why. The staff were friendly, attentive and had time for a chat, I apologise the only name I really remember is Leyon I think, he was amazing, everytime we went to the bar to order he would instantly stop doing what he was doing and be there to serve, ensuring there was no waiting around. All of the staff were friendly to our children and even came looking for us to give my daughter a teddy that she had left behind. There were games available at the entrance to keep children entertained (not that they had time to get bored with service being so quick!) Even binoculars that gave my girls great pleasure in using to see Over to Cardiff bay. We were definitely be back, we were made to feel really welcome and feel like we ate some real good quality food tonight. Thank you all for making our first visit such a pleasant experience. Just to touch on a review left earlier by someone who states that anyone leaving a good review probably grew up with a mother who couldn't cook I'd like to confirm that my mum was an amazing cook, but I think she would agree that this place is completely different level of good food.

We got married at Ty Mawr. It was a wonderful day at a fantastic venue. Helpful staff, especially Emma, who was communicative and flexible throughout. Higholy recommended.

The venue in a great position. The day we went it was sunny and warm. However not enough staff to serve outside so sat indoors.

Nice little place. Nice for children to play. Just make sure ur handbrake is on so you don't roll and hit another car. But Nice staff. Lovely food. Price wise 3 adults 2 children mains pudding drinks £83 not bad. X

We had a wonderful evening at the pub tonight for my grandads 80th birthday. The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming, they are engaging with everyone from the older members of the family to the younger ones and very considerate of our family who have autism. The food is amazing and they are very accommodating if there is anything they can change on the menu to make your experience better. Michelle is so kind and was there for our every need. Thank you for everything you made our evening.

Not the same place as it used to be … staff wearing Nike lounge shorts (very poor standard) food very average. It’s good for an outdoor pint but that’s about it.

The venue is amazing for small, intimate weddings. The staff worked as a well-oiled machine to make everything seamless and as stress free as possible. They set up the tables and sorted the celebrants and officials. The venue is lovely with a barn like appearance. Lovely fairy lights twinkle in the beams above ones head. Highly recommend.

Myself and partner had our wedding at the Ty Mawr last week, and everything was perfect from start to finish! We have visited many times before for food and drinks, and always loved the laid back vibe, which is something we wanted on our wedding day. Emma is a fantastic planner, and was able to carry through the laid back approach that we were after. She was very attentive from the get-go, with brilliant and timely communication, and her eye for detail is impeccable! I must admit I was fairly vague with how I wanted the decorations etc, but Emma pulled it all together and made it even better than we could have imagined! She dressed the room beautifully, and gave us such magical wedding. The day went together seamlessly and was beautifully organised, the food was fantastic, the DJ was a real hit, and many of our guests commented on what a fun, relaxed experience it was! The price of hiring their function room is so so reasonable, there really is nothing to complain about at all, and we can’t wait to come back and reminisce a wonderful day! Only had drinks great place with quick service and friendly staff

Food ain't great, fish n chips ,fish was nice yet literally hardly any chips. I'd go as far as to say about 20 chips and they were hidden under the fish

First time visit Sunday lunch was the finest dinner I've had for several years, the service very good but the food both meat and vegetables were cooked to perfection both tender and moist the Yorkshire pudding which I'm not particularly fond of but it was truly scrumptious I would recommend this establishment to anyone
